Soziale Identifikationstypen?: Anmerkungen zur ganzheitlichen Erfassung der Typik von "Identifikation"

According to the theses that regional identification is a complex phenomenon this paper presents a method to examine interactions between single regional identifications. The methodological background is introduced as a \"principle of personality\" that is based on the understanding of identification as a structural phenomenon. It is argued, that all elements of that structure have to be taken into account by specifying the interrelations between the single identifications. Using questionnaire data concerning regional identification the analysis is going to be represented on a population of 18 years old youngsters of Saxony by focusing on the relation between the specific structure of identification and xenophobia. First it is shown, that one can find a heterogeneous set of structures of regional identifications. Secondly it is argued, that the proposed way of analysing identification supplies more information about its characteristics and correlations to other personal habits than bivariate strategies.:Einleitung; Theoretischer Hintergrund; Stichprobe und Messinstrumente; 3. Workplace support groups for people living with HIV and AIDS : challenges faced by social workers rendering occupational social work services

The study aimed to develop an in-depth understanding of the challenges faced by social workers rendering Occupational Social Work (OSW) services, particularly in establishing and maintaining workplace support groups for employees living with HIV and AIDS. The study used a qualitative research approach, aided by exploratory, descriptive and contextual research design. Data was collected from eight participants with semi-structured interviews and was analyzed by applying eight steps for data analysis as proposed by Tesch, cited in Creswell (2003:191). Data verification was done by applying Guba’s model (in Krefting, 1991). The themes, which emerged from the interviews, were: the recruitment of members in workplace support groups and the challenges faced by social workers rendering OSW services. The findings indicate that, critical as their roles may be, social workers experience numerous challenges when providing workplace HIV and AIDS support groups. Konzumace živočišných výrobků mezi ekologicky aktivními jedinci / Consumption of animal-based products among ecologically active individuals

The diploma thesis deals with the paradox that arises based on a conflict of actions and opinions on the consumption of animal products. The aim of the work was to reveal the social factors that cause this discrepancy, assuming that social factors play an important role. This assumption is based on the consideration of meat as a social construct rooted in culture, and thus the consumption of meat is examined in this paper not as an individual decision but as a result of the influences of different institutions and social structures. This paradox is being studied on ecologically active individuals, and it is assumed that in this case the discrepancy between opinions on animal products and actual behaviour will be even more pronounced. The conclusion of the work reveals as one of the most important factors family and traditions, which cause that individuals are afraid of exclusion from the social group of the family and at the same time they want to be true to traditions. Respondents often preferred to conform to members of the groups to which they belong or to culture and traditions. The work also deals with the guilt caused by this discrepancy, taking into account the impact of ecology as an external factor.

Les faces contemporaines de l'oppression à travers la pensée politique d’Iris Marion Young

Ce mémoire présente une étude des travaux de Young sur « Les cinq faces de l’oppression » dans le but d’explorer plus en détail certains enjeux contemporains, en se concentrant particulièrement sur les manifestations discrètes ou invisibilisées des injustices, analysées à travers le prisme de « trois faces de l’oppression ». La pensée politique de Young critique les tendances réductionnistes du paradigme libéral rawlsien en philosophie politique anglo-américaine, qui tend à occulter les expériences singulières de l’oppression en simplifiant leur complexité jusqu’à des questions de redistribution. Bien que Young ne nie jamais l’importance de la justice distributive, ses travaux mettent en lumière des concepts tels que la marginalisation, l’impuissance et l’impérialisme culturel, soulignant leur importance comme outils analytiques pour identifier et comprendre d'autres dimensions de l’injustice dans le monde contemporain. Tout d’abord, ce mémoire expose la manière dont la marginalisation prive les groupes sociaux de ressources essentielles et d’opportunités, confinant les individus à des rôles qui limitent leur autonomie et alimentent des sentiments d'inutilité, d'ennui et de dévalorisation personnelle. Ensuite, cette étude traite de l'impuissance vécue par les non-professionnels, souvent privés de pouvoir décisionnel et de respectabilité dans la division contemporaine du travail. Finalement, l'analyse de l'impérialisme culturel révèle la façon dont l'universalisation des expériences et des valeurs du groupe dominant peut subjuguer les identités culturelles et les réalités sociales des groupes subordonnés, produisant ainsi des injustices épistémiques. En affinant notre analyse des diverses dimensions de l’injustice, ce mémoire aspire à enrichir notre compréhension de la justice sociale / This thesis conducts a study on Young's "Five Faces of Oppression," aiming to delve into contemporary issues, especially focusing on subtle or overlooked injustices through the lens of "three faces of oppression." It critiques the reductionist tendencies of the Rawlsian liberal paradigm in Anglo-American political philosophy for oversimplifying oppression to mere questions of redistribution. Young highlights concepts like marginalization, powerlessness, and cultural imperialism as analytical tools to understand different dimensions of injustice. The thesis discusses how marginalization deprives social groups of essential resources and autonomy, explores the powerlessness of non-professionals in the labor division, and examines how cultural imperialism can subjugate subordinate groups' identities, leading to epistemic injustices. This study aims to deepen the understanding of social justice by refining the analysis of injustice's varied dimensions.

Developing a practice guideline for a collaborative approach between the university and families of students involved with substance abuse at Babcock University Nigeria

Substance abuse among university students is increasing globally. Nigeria, with her peculiar class of university students who are younger than global average is not left out. This paper reports a qualitative Intervention research that utilized narrative inquiry instrument to explore the interface of substance abuse issues, disciplinary dilemmas and family involvement at a private university in Nigeria. This research identified challenges and concerns amongst administrators, parents, students and student support services staff. Primary Socialization and Critical theories formed the theoretical backdrop for the research. The participants in the study were members of administration and disciplinary committee (n=10). Parents (n=10), students (n=20) and student support staff (n=10). The findings showed early onset of substance abuse at an average age of 17, which coincides with the average of entry into Nigerian universities. Alcohol and Marijuana was the most preferred drug of choice. 50% of the student participants had family history of substance abuse involvement and 80% was alcohol use. Parental responses such as reduced levels of trust, strained relationships and withdrawal of support and privileges were motivators for students to engage in treatment. Implementation of institutional disciplinary measures for involvement of student with substance abuse such as suspension or expulsion was also indicated as motivators to engage in treatment and maintenance of sobriety, however both parents and students identified the provision of services such as drug screening, counseling and family conferences as having long term impact on staying sober. Both parents and students recommended strict monitoring measures to reduce the incidences of substance abuse on the university campus. The Nigerian cultural value and above global average of parental involvement was a strength that informed the recommendation for a collaborative approach between the university and families of students involved with substance abuse. The responses of university administrators indicated struggles between service and disciplinary responses. The study concluded by proposing a model of approach with practice guidelines for a collaborative approach between the university and families of students involved with substance abuse. The psychosocial stressors of women with HIV/AIDS involved in a support group (in Walvis Bay)

Thesis (MA)--Stellenbosch University, 2005. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: An exploratory study was conducted to determine the psychosocial stressors of women living with HIV/AlDS. The study also included the utilisation of group work by social workers to support HIV positive women. The exploratory study was also conducted to determine HIV positive women's experiences in a support group. The researcher's interest in group work, as well as her involvement with a support group with HIV positive women, is the motivation for the study. The aim of the study is to provide an explanation of the psychosocial stressors that HIV positive women experience and also to capture their experiences regarding the support group they attend. Nine psychosocial stressors, namely anger, fear, loss, grieve, guilt, denial and disclosure, depression, suicidal behaviour and anxiety, were included in the literature study. The advantages, disadvantages and components of group work, as well as comparisons of effective and ineffective groups, were highlighted. The research also focused on planning a group for women with HIV/AlDS, with special attention given to the needs assessment, the purpose of the group, the group composition and the structure of the group. The value of group work with HIV positive women was investigated. The universum was HIV positive women at the Walvis Bay Multi-Purpose Centre. The qualitative research method that was used took the form of structured interviews. The results of this study generally confirmed the findings of the literature study. Recommendations include ways in which social workers can assist HIV positive women not only on an individual basis but also especially in a group setting, and recommendations concerning future research. The importance of future research with HIV positive women was especially recommended. / AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: 'n Verkennende studie is onderneem om die psigososiale stresfaktore wat HIV positiewe vroue ondervind, te bepaal. Die studie het ook maatskaplike werkers se gebruik van groepwerk om HIV positiewe vroue te ondersteun, ondersoek. Die navorsing is voorts onderneem om HIV positiewe vroue se ervarings van 'n ondersteunersgroep te bepaal. Die navorser se belangstelling in groepwerk, en haar betrokkenheid by 'n ondersteunersgroep vir HIV positiewe vroue, was die motivering om die studie te onderneem. Die doel met die studie is om die psigososiale stresfaktore wat HIV positiewe vroue ondervind, te beskryf en te verduidelik, en ook om sommige van die ervarings wat sulke vroue in 'n ondersteunersgroep ondervind, te boekstaaf. Nege psigososiale stresfaktore, naamlik woede, vrees, verlies, droefheid, skuldgevoel, ontkenning en onthulling, depressie, selfmoordgedrag en angs, is in die literatuurstudie bestudeer. Die komponente en voor- en nadele van groepwerk, asook 'n vergelyking van effektiewe en oneffektiewe groepe is ook ingesluit. Tal campo, criado nos anos 1970, desenvolveu-se a partir de debates nas instituições de ensino de São Paulo, cuja produção tem sido fundamental para seu desenvolvimento no Brasil, com significativas contribuições no âmbito teórico e prático. Como fontes, utilizaram-se os trabalhos apresentados nos seis últimos Congressos Brasileiros de Terapia Ocupacional, bem como a bibliografia sobre o tema. A análise evidenciou as questões levantadas através desse campo, identificou seus principais autores e suas contribuições: o desenvolvimento de tecnologias para lidar com as questões sociais vinculadas à ação junto às(aos) pessoas/grupos em processo de rupturas de redes sociais / This study analyses the Social Occupational Therapy consolidation process based on the scientific production from the state of São Paulo, in whose educational institutions such field, created in the 1970s, was developed by means of several debates. Klima třídy / Class climate

The diploma thesis "The Class Climate" has a theoretical-empirical character. The main aim of this thesis focuses on measuring and comparing the classroom climete of standard and alternative schools.The introductory part comprises definitions of basic terms such as social group, school environment, atmosphere, climate. Furthermore, it investigates the theoretical clarification of the classroom climate and details the elements, types and actors of the climate. The thesis also closely notes the research methods of the classroom climete measuring. The author concludes the theoretical part with description of the issue of alternative schools. The practical part implementes through questionnaire survey with a participation of pupils from standard and alternative primary schools. There has been defined the aim, assumptions and selected the method of the classroom climate measuring. The conclusion summarizes the results of the questionnaire survey as well as verifies the assumptions.
