Balci Dirik, Max Taylan, Tesfazghi, Tegsti January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate, understand and reflect on the factors that may have contributed to six individuals, who upon arrival were counted as unaccompanied refugee, integration into Swedish society. In order to answer our questions, we have chosen to use a qualitative approach which permitts a deeper understanding for ourselves as well as obtaining their subjective experiences of their integration. We based our analysis on five scientific papers and theories and concepts such as; Angel &amp; Hjern (2004) Refugee Crisis Model, Beckman (2011) Integration Theory, Kamalis (2006), "We" and "Them" theory, Goffman (2006) Stigma theory and Berger &amp; Luckmann (2008) Socializations theory. The results showed that the respondents felt that the language was an important factor in the integration and that the host family had a great significance for them. The respondents think that all unaccompanied refugee should take part of living with a host family. Keywords: Unaccompanied refugee children, Socialization, Integration, Stigma.

Rosengårdens Barn och Den Svenska Kulturen

Al-Kuraishi, Gemila, Bitiqi, Dafina January 2008 (has links)
<p>This dissertation is about children in a district in Malmö, Sweden that is called Rosengård. This district is known for its high amount of immigrants and foreigners and all the children interviewed for the study are foreigners.</p><p>We wanted to bring out their story, how they experience the cultures they are in touch with, the Swedish culture that they live in and their foreign culture that they experience at home with their parents. How do these children socialize into the Swedish culture while living in a district that is hardly exposed to it? We have been working from a different perspective, this due to the fact that we have both grown up in Rosengård and are still currently living here. Therefore our perspective is more from the inside, we can relate to the children’s stories and we can tell about it in a way that seems more natural.</p><p>These children are not more different than other children, they have the same interests and hobbies as is considered to be “fashionable” in youth culture today. They all have hopes and dreams like everybody else, and the fact that they are not exposed to the Swedish culture does not seem to affect them, yet.</p>

Kvinnor med personliga erfarenheter av ett fängelsestraff. : En kvalitativ studie med livsberättelser i fokus / Women with personal experiences of a prison sentence. : A qualitative study with life stories in focus

Muriqi, Valbone, Sowemimo Andersson, Jeanette January 2011 (has links)

I wasn’t that guy then, it was someone I became” : A qualitative study about processes of identification, socialization, labeling and  stigmatization of youths in right-wing organizations

Reivall, Helena January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to analyze the processes that make youths stay in right-wing organizations. In this qualitative study there is also a description of the measures used in order that individuals do not become members of the extreme right-wing groupings. Interviews have been made by two informants who work with crime prevention issues in the municipality, and two informants who have been members of extreme-right organizations. After the interviews were conducted and transcribed, they have been analyzed thematically based on the social-psychological perspective, symbolic interactionism through three subcategories; socialization, identity as well as labeling and stigmatization. Through socializations the individuals emulate the norms and values that they encounter in their environment. The individual is socialized through various groups, the extreme-right group could be a source of strengthening Nazi and racist views. Identity is also created through interaction with other people. The individual's identity can be reinforced when he becomes a member of right-wing extremist factions and can be difficult to get away if he was not offered anything else, better from society outside the group. The Labeling theory assumes that society does not accept standards other than those accepted by the large group. Other individuals are rejected and excluded. Individuals who is labeled and excluded from the large group seek to enter other groupings, in this study the right-wing extremist, where they will be accepted, thus increasing the distance to the established society. In order to avoid the continued recruitment to extremist gangs advocated that young people should take part of a stable set of values and learn about democratic rights. School singled out as the main influence area.

Larsson, Jonas Unknown Date (has links)

Svensson, Lars January 2014 (has links)
This thesis explores how Muslim youths’ lifeworlds are depicted and narrated in the following two studies on Muslim youth in Sweden and Denmark: Muslima (2007) and Samtidsislam (2010). The aim of this thesis is to answer the following question: In what ways do these works treat the aspects of the lifeworlds that are being highlighted in their studies of Muslim youth in contemporary Sweden and Denmark? An underlying aim is to analyse the results within the framework of theories of socialisation, cultural emancipation and rituals and traditions. With a hermeneutic approach I analyse the texts and operationalize the research question into four themes: the effects of socialization, cultural emancipation, rituals and traditions and secularization. The texts are treated in the analysis with textual analysis and hermeneutic method. The theoretical frame assumes socialization theory, the theory of cultural emancipation, a theoretical statement about traditions and rituals. Pia Karlsson Mingantis’s study Muslima (2007) focuses on nine young women, who are engaged in the Islamic revival. The description of the young women’s life situation is quite complex and the encounter with the Swedish context induces negotiations between Islamic traditions and the secular culture in the majority society. In Jonas Otterbeck &amp; Peter Hallin’s study Samtidsislam (2010) nine Muslim youths’ situations are described. The informants view themselves as Muslims, but do not exercise Islam with quite much engagement. There are a lot of conflicts between the Islamic tradition and the Danish and Swedish majority culture. The youth are being in a uncertain position in the search of an identity. The conflicts and religious questions that are raised in the encounter with the Swedish and Danish context is not interpreted differently by the informants than other questions connected to youths’ identity construction and other questions related to the transition into adulthood. The conclusion that is being made in relation to the study of the texts is that the narratives produced by both the authors are different. The differences in the narratives depend on different samples and different aims of the two studies.

Severin, Beatrice, Angeklint, Emmy January 2015 (has links)
This essay aims to create an understanding of how Christmas parties functions as a rite for socialisation in organizational cultures and also how it is perceived from a co-worker’s perspective. Three questions are formed in order to make it possible to investigate this purpose further; ”How do the co-workers experience the communication about the Christmas party in the organisation?” ”What does the co-workers expect from the Christmas party in their organisation?” and ”What purpose does the Christmas party serve within the organisation?”. A presentation of previous research is given, focusing mainly on rites within organisations and the socialisation that follows. Using the knowledge from earlier research within this area of science, two focus groups with four respondents in each are asked to discuss their experiences from Christmas parties. The collected empirical material is analysed using scientific theories on situated learning, organisational culture, rites and rituals. The results of the study shows that Christmas parties functions as a rite and that co-workers are socialised in to an organisational culture with the help from three different factors; How co-workers communicate about the party with each other within the organisation, that co-worker’s view on the Christmas party is a matter of course and that the people within the organisation consider the Christmas party an opportunity to create a spirit of community. Furthermore, results of the study also revealed that socialisation through the rite of a Christmas party create distance between groups, insecurity and alienation because of it. It was also comprehended as somewhat of a formality. The respondents of the study perceived the Christmas party as a positive event to look forward to, however it could also lead to negativity and feelings of indifference.
