Socio-Culture and Financial System in China-A Study of PBC's Function of Economic StabilizationChung, Tsang-jung 16 January 2006 (has links)
This dissertation studies the relationship between China¡¦s socio-culture and its financial system from the perspective of economic sociology. After denouncing the Marx-Lenin-Mao Ideology Deng Xiaoping adopted the ¡§Reform and Open Door¡¨ policy with an emphasis on the economic development as the supreme objective. As a result, the Chinese economy has grown at a speed faster than ever. Chinese are wealthier year after year and the social structure is much changed. The people are differentiated in its social classification. The richer middle class is consequently emerged and its proportion among population is increasing. Numerous labor-class and peasant are getting relatively poorer. Currently the Hu-Wen regime considers the domestic stability the first goal and the foreign exchange rate is not adjusted upward as much as expected.
My research shows that the China¡¦s financial system and the policy-decision making obliviously are shaped by the influence of the China¡¦s socio-culture. In order to create the value of social justice, the function of People¡¦s Bank (the Central Bank) of China and four other specialized banks such as Chinese Construction Bank are thoroughly separated. Hu Jintao emphasized his governance ¡§for the people¡¨ to create ¡§social harmony¡¨ as his administration motto. This is a policy change in priority from efficiency only, to equity as well: a reflection from one extreme towards the middle-of-the-road in accordance with Confucianism.
Key words: social culture, financial system, well-off society, society harmony

Thesis (M. Dev.) -- University of Limpopo, 2018 / The post-apartheid socio-cultural, economic and political dispensation in South Africa have prompted a high-level perceived potential inclusion in sport-participating in different aspect of self-development regardless of culture, economic and social difference across the nation. However, little is understood, from an empirical viewpoint, about the potential challenges and limits towards the successful participation in sport in South Africa. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between socio-cultural factors and sport participation at Germiston High School in the Gauteng Province. A quantitative research was conducted using case study research design method. A Non-probability sampling method was done through purposive sampling method to select Grade 8 to Grade 12 students from. Data collection was done using self-administered questionnaires. There were one hundred and forty-seven students that participated in a survey of self-administered questionnaires at Germiston High School. The findings of the study reveal that sport-participation is highly linked to socio-cultural and economic aspects among students. For students, teachers are expected to be involved in sport-participation and be of the forefront of inclusiveness. It also was found that sport preference among students is linked to their important others. Thus, a full experience of sport-participation through resources available at school is compromised for many students. Schools, the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture together with sponsors and parents are encouraged to intervene in promoting sport participation.

En mångkulturell skola : En studie om främjandet av elevers kulturella kunskaper på en mångkulturell skolaCan BeSafar, Claudia January 2010 (has links)
My thesis is based on a qualitative study. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether the educationalist at an especially chosen school in Stockholm promotes the students multicultural background in the education or not. This is due to the fact that the Swedish school to a considerable degree reflects the multicultural Swedish society. The socio-cultural starting point is when people come together and meet. The language is the tool of the socio-culture and it is the dialogue, discussion and sympathetic understanding that makes people meet. The cultural concept is diffuse and very wide. Everyone has their own definition of it. The cultural concept in this thesis involves identity, ethnicity, background, conception of life and nationality. I have interviewed two pedagogues and a school manager. The content of the interviews was recorded and transcribed. In addition to theses interviews, the steering documents of the chosen school have been analyzed. The parental collaboration and influence is an important issue and it is up to the school manager to make an effort increasing parental interest and collaboration. When I made the interviews it became clear that the student’s different cultural background and knowledge was not something the school took benefit of to any larger extent. The pedagogues had thoughts and points of views about how to stimulate and use the students varied multicultural background in the education, for example by being more perceptive and use dialogue as a tool and learn from the students. The most important issue for the school concerning multiculturality is how to behave and live in the multicultural society. The school is the platform where different cultures meet every day and therefore it is natural that the school finds a balance between cultural pluralism and mutual understanding for different cultures.

Abstract The Swedish society has always been monolingual, but has for the past decades transformed into a multicultural and multilingual society. The aim of this study is to investigate if and in that case how preschool teachers work with language development in bilingual and multicultural preschools. The concept of linguistic and cultural diversity includes several different components, not least the social interactions that are of great importance to every individual's development, learning and participation in the world. By understanding the importance of language, language development and the role of mother tongue in second language acquisition, we look into various researches done concerning the effects of the preschool teachers’ opinions, methods used to language developmental primarily for children who are multilingual and how the physical environment is shaped to promote language in multicultural and multilingual preschools. The method used in this study is semi-structured interviews with preschool teacher working in multicultural or bilingual preschool settings. The questions concerns opinions on multilingualism, which methods are used to promote children´s second language acquisition and development, and also how the physical environment is shaped to influence children´s cultural and lingual backgrounds in the preschools. The results are analyzed through the socio-cultural perspective, the curriculum for preschool, language acquisition theories, language and second language development and prior research in the studies three areas, opinions, methods and the physical environment. Regarding the preschool teachers opinions about multilingualism the results shows that knowledge of the child’s mother tongue, culture and background is of importance when working with children from a multicultural and multilingual background. The preschool teachers express a need for further education and knowledge of multilingual children’s language acquisition and development. Furthermore the results shows that preschool teachers point out that literature conversations is the most common methods as well as TAKK (sign as a complement for communication). Concerning how the preschools physical environment is shaped the results shows that such is not the case. The children's different experiences often get little or no space in the preschools physical environment primarily in terms of creating an environment that is recognizable for children from a linguistic and cultural diverse background. The discussion about the results stresses the need of further research and deeper knowledge among the preschool teachers concerning methods used and the importance of ensuring that the preschools physical environment reflects the children’s different cultures and languages. Vägen till meningsfull skrivundervisning : Att främja elevers skrivutveckling / The way to meaningful writing instruction : to promote students writing skillsKarlsson, Johanna January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of my survey is to find ways to create good conditions for students' writing development, based on the subject of Swedish focusing on writing instructions. The empirical data has been collected through qualitative methods and could, to a certain extent, be seen as an action research. The collected material includes educational plans, observations and qualitative interviews with three teachers as well as analysis of student’s texts. The material was then analyzed by using scientific models. I got in contact with the informants through my workplace or from former VFU schools (vocational education school). The interest in conducting the study of the two teachers from my workplace fell naturally because they have expressed that even though their work is based on the same educational plan, their methods differ. I would like to map their writing lessons to see if their own opinion is correct, but also to see how meaningful writing lessons can be formed as a comparison. The teacher from my VFU school is a teacher who continually trains and strengthens the profession as a teacher, and actively works to find strategies that lead to meaningful writing instructions. My study shows that student development is greatly enhanced by working in a social community, both seen as the interaction teacher-student or interaction student-student. It is apparent from the survey that all teachers work with writing instruction that advocates pair- or group writing, which also appears in the research background to be a positive effect for meaningful writing lessons.

Die identifisering van faktore wat die onderrig en leer van Afrikaans as tweede addisionele taal beïnvloed / Christine du ToitDu Toit, Christine January 2006 (has links)
The current political dispensation in South Africa has, as was the case in the past,
undoubtedly had a major influence on the language patterns of the country. The 1996
Constitution now provides official recognition of the main indigenous languages. Despite
this entrenchment, there is evidence that English is seen as the vehicle to the future.
This study focuses on the factors that may influence the learning and teaching of
Afrikaans as a second additional language in black schools in the Potchefstroom district.
In order to achieve this task, a triangulation approach was used. A literature study was
done to provide prior information to understanding the current language situation.
Interviews were conducted with the respondents as well as the teachers of Afrikaans
and the classes were observed and recorded. Questionnaires followed which were
completed by the learners as well as their teachers.
The objectives of the empirical study were to determine which factors might influence the
teaching and learning of Afrikaans as an additional language for both the learners and
the teachers, as well as to determine what the implications of such findings for the
teaching and learning of Afrikaans as an additional language are.
The findings of this study confirm the influence of several factors (socio-political, socio
cultural and individual) on Afrikaans. The results indicated that there is a positive attitude
towards Afrikaans and that the learners are eager to learn Afrikaans. What is clear, is
that it is imperative to take note of these factors to guide the learners towards self
regulated study, especially Afrikaans as an additional language. The results also
revealed that the education of the teachers need to be addressed to prevent irrevocable
damage to Afrikaans and to the relationships between the diverse cultures in our
country. / Thesis (M.Ed.)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2006.
