Processus automatiques dans la formation d'attitudes implicites vis à vis de l'alcool : études expérimentales de l'effet de l'exposition incidente à l'alcool dans les médias / Automatic processes involved in the formation implicit attitudes toward alcohol : a set of experimental studies on the effect of incidental exposure to alcohol in mediasZerhouni, Oulmann 07 December 2015 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the influence of alcohol sport sponsorship and alcohol consumption in movies on implicit attitudes towards alcohol. Few researches have focused on the mediating psychological mechanisms between exposure to alcohol promotion in media and long-term consumption. Our hypothesis is that evaluative conditioning through affect misattribution mediatizes the effect of exposure to alcohol stimuli on implicit attitudes toward alcohol. The effect of two other automatic processes (i.e. mere exposure effect, association with the self) are also studied. Two studies (1 and 2) were led to test an induction that (i) impairs controlled processes and (ii) maximizes affect misattribution by inhibiting attentional control in an evaluative condition paradigm. Three studies on alcohol sponsorship were then led in which we found a main effect of on implicit attitudes (studies 3 and 5). A mere exposure effect was observed in the study 5, but we found no convincing evidence for evaluative conditioning (study 4). However, we found an evaluative conditioning effect in two studies on alcohol consumption in movies and TV shows which was shown to be independent from association with the self (study 6), as well as relying on controlled processes (study 7). Overall, sponsorship effects on implicit attitudes seems to occur via a mere exposure effect, while alcohol portrayals in movies seems to impact implicit attitudes toward alcohol through evaluative conditioning and association of alcohol with the self.

Corporate Social Responsibility at London 2012 : discourses of sport and activity promotion at the Olympic GamesBretherton, Paul January 2014 (has links)
The unique potential of sport as a site for the delivery of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has received increasing academic attention in recent years (e.g. Smith & Westerbeek, 2007). However, this literature has been said to have held 'relatively static conceptualisations of CSR through sport' (Dowling, Robinson & Washington, 2013, p. 270), and it could similarly be argued that insufficient attention has been given to the broader social contexts in which it has been delivered. This study therefore aimed to understand more about sport - and the Olympic Games - as a site for the delivery of CSR, using the specific context of private sector sponsor-led CSR schemes based upon the sport and physical activity participation legacy of London 2012. Three separate stages of qualitative data collection were conducted. The first comprised a thematic analysis of macro level policy discourse produced by official Olympic 'legacy actors' in relation to the proclaimed sport and activity legacy of the Games. The second stage also used thematic analysis in order to establish how 20 sponsors rationalised their CSR activity around the Games and how six who organised programmes involving either sport or activity participation justified these. The third stage comprised a series of semi-structured interviews with representatives of three Olympic sponsors and three charity delivery partners who co-operated in the delivery of specific CSR schemes. Once data was organised into themes, data analysis was informed by a governmentality perspective in order to help understand the respective roles of public and private sector organisations in not just the delivery of CSR, but also in 'governing' society in the broadest sense of the term.

Community College Readers in Their 21st Century Transactional ZonesJanuary 2014 (has links)
abstract: ABSTRACT This mixed methods study examines 126 community college students enrolled in developmental reading courses at a mid-sized Southwestern community college. These students participated in a survey-based study regarding their reading experiences and practices, social influence upon those practices, reading sponsorship, and reading self-efficacy. The survey featured 33 structured response prompts and six free response prompts, allowing for both quantitative and qualitative analysis. The study¡&brkbar;s results reflected the diverse reading interests and practices of developmental college students, revealing four main themes: -the diversity and complexity of their reading practices; -the diversity in reading genre preferences; -the strong influence of family members and teachers as reading sponsors in the past with that influence shifting to friends and college professors in the present; and, -the possible connection between self-efficacy and social engagement with reading. Findings from this study suggest these college students, often depicted as underprepared or developmental readers, are engaging in diverse and sophisticated reading practices and perceive reading as a means to achieve their success-oriented goals and to learn about the real world. This study adds to the limited field of community college literacy research, provides a more nuanced view of what it means to be an underprepared college reader, and points to ways community college educators can better support their students by acknowledging and building upon their socio-culturally influenced literacy practices. At the same time, educators can advantage students academically in terms of building their cultural capital with overt inculcation into disciplinary literacies and related repertoires of practice. Keywords: college students, reading, sponsorship, multimodal reading practices, developmental education, social networking, and literacy / Dissertation/Thesis / Ph.D. Curriculum and Instruction 2014

In the 90s the street race underwent a significant change in your event concept. The entertainment character began to be exploited by the event producers in this sector, giving rise to the concept of fashions races. Only in the state of São Paulo were offered 415 street racing events in 2015. Realizing this expanding market, companies from various sectors are seeking to combine the sport in question, and in turn producing these events seek these sponsors for funding these activities. Thus, objective of this study was to identify the profile of sponsors that add more value to street racing events: a study in view of the consumers of this sport. To meet this objective we chose a qualitative methodology exploratory. A mixed questionnaire to a sample of 407 runners in four road race event was applied. The questionnaire contained open and closed questions, which the frequencies were analyzed the responses and their contents respectively. As a result we got a sponsor profile that is congruent segments with sport and street racing as sports segment, food and shoes for runners. Moreover, according to consumers, these sponsors must activate their brands during the sport events. These activations should be associated with attributes that consumers consider as street racing attributes as health, friendship, quality of life, well-being, socialization and fun. It is concluded that there are sponsors that add more value than others in the consumer\'s view of this sport. This information can be useful for street racing producers, since these companies should be sought in a possible prospect for sponsors for the sport events. Sponsors that add more value to the event are perceived by consumers, resulting in a positive perception of that event in question and its sponsors

Tomada de decisão em ações de patrocínio esportivo: análise descritiva do processo decisório e critérios de seleção em empresas patrocinadoras no Brasil / Sport sponsorship decision making: descriptive analysis of the decision process and selection criteria of sponsor companies in BrazilMichel Fauze Mattar 10 September 2007 (has links)
The growth of the use of sports sponsorship by companies as a marketing communication tool is notorious. Crossovers between variables were also promoted to verify any relationships existing between them. As a conclusion of the study it was found that the decision making process for sports sponsorship activities at companies reveals itself incipient or inexistent, resulting as a consequence, on a decrease of efficacy during its use. Another conclusion, referring to the selection criteria adopted by companies, is that the most used are pertinence, adequacy, repercussion, and cost evaluation of the action to be sponsored. It was also verified that certain variables, such as size (in revenue) and range of the company have influence over the composition of the members that take part of the decision making process and over the selection criteria that compose this process. Based on this conclusions, this study suggests a higher attention and deepness by companies on discussions concerning the decision making process related to sports sponsorship activities.

Finding nexus between sport sponsorship transaction and corporate governance principles, namely (accountability and transparency)Mdekazi, Mphumzi Julius January 2012 (has links)
Magister Commercii - MCom / In South Africa today those who lead sport are facing increasing scrutiny which has inevitably resulted in questioning governance practices. The transition of many sports from predominantly volunteer administered organizations anchored in an amateur ethos, to professionally managed entities catering to a more sophisticated market place has created unique challenges for the governance of sport sponsorship. This evolution gives rise to possible conceptual linkage between sport sponsorship and corporate governance or none thereof. This study focuses on the ABSA-Premier Soccer League (PSL) sponsorship transaction as a case study to explore this linkage. The research is aimed at finding the nexus between sport sponsorship and corporate governance principles, namely accountability and transparency in the conclusion of this transaction. The research consists of four phases; literature review which provides a detailed analysis of all primary and secondary material available on this topic. The second phase is a qualitative case study research methodology which comprises of in-depth interviews with targeted stakeholders. The third part presents the research findings and discussion section, and lastly
the way forward through reflections and recommendations including highlighting potential future research areas. This work is timely when there has been generally a heightened evolution in sport sponsorship and its focus was to explore the nexus and compliance to the founding principles of the organizations (laws of governance). Factually, good corporate governance aims at ensuring a higher degree of transparency in an organization by encouraging full disclosure of transactions in the company accounts as well as accountability. Academics have been exploring the notion of sports sponsorship and corporate governance with much of the
debates grounded on understanding its commercial value. The focus for this study is on the conceptual nexus or non-thereof, between sponsorship and corporate governance. Information was collected through in-depth and experience interviews, documented reviews and analysis (such as the review and analysis of the constitution of the South Africa football Association, PSL, financial/banking sector policy regulations, South African Sports Act, corporate governance reports, annual reports, scholarly journals, academic books, conference papers and Parliamentary Monitoring Group documents etc. to mention but a few. / South Africa
