Sökandet efter den sekulära heligheten : Reiki som ett ritualiserat andligt fenomen / Seeking The Secular Sacred : Reiki as a Ritualized Spiritual Phenomenon

Reiki is a hands-on healing method classified as complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) that helps the body relax and heal itself, according to its practitioners. Sessions involve practitioners channeling energy to the client to assist this process. The consensus within the Reiki community is that Mikao Usui discovered the method while he was on Mount Kurama in 1922. There is ample research on the efficacy of Reiki in healthcare, but very few researchers have investigated its characteristics related to religiosity and rituals. Thus, the purpose of this thesis is to examine Reiki as a secular sacred phenomenon and how it can be understood as such. This thesis also discusses how rituals in Reiki can be understood using other research on rituals. There is also a comparative analysis of Reiki rituals, focusing on three of them and how they differ between four Reiki Masters where three have studied with the same Reiki Master Teacher. The rituals are gassho, a meditation ritual; kenyoku-ho, a cleansing ritual; and, finally, reiji-ho, a direction ritual. The search for academic sources has been a major obstacle to overcome. Firstly, there is very little research on Reiki as a spiritual phenomenon or Reiki as a ritualistic phenomenon; most etic studies have focused on effects or possible benefits. Sources from within the Reiki community (emic sources) tend to make statements without clear evidence. Furthermore, some etic sources use emic sources to support their statements.

Baigiamajame darbe nagrinėjamas universalumo fenomenas architekto meninėje veikloje. Sinkretiška kūryba būdinga įvairių laikotarpių architektams nuo seniausiųjų civilizacijų kultūrų iki šių dienų. Vis dėl to, meistro sąvoka, kuri ne tik Renesanso bet ir ankstesniaisiais laikotarpiais turėjo sinkretiško kūrėjo reikšmę, kinta ir siaurėja specializacijos bei fragmentacijos reiškinių skaidomoje visuomenėje. Gilesnis šios temos tyrimas ir aktualizavimas pasaulio ir Lietuvos architektų kūrybos kontekste reikalingas norint pabrėžti sinkretiškumo svarbą architekto veikloje. Šis akcentas svarbus ne tik formuojant architektūros ir meno objektus, bet ir įprasminant platesnes šiandienos kultūrines, socialines bei gamtines-ekologines aktualijas. Pirmajame darbo skyriuje – „Renesanso žmogus” – universalaus tipo kūrėjas“ – analizuojamos prielaidos ir istorinė patirtis, kurioje iškyla universalaus kūrėjo-architekto figūra. Nagrinėjama pati „universalaus kūrėjo“ samprata, jos genezė, raida bei aktualumas. Tyrinėjami „meistro“ ir „talento“ apibrėžimai, jų tarpusavio priklausomybė, ryšys bei sąsajos su sinkretiško kūrėjo paveikslu. Antrajame skyriuje – „Architekto kūrybinio universalumo priežastingumai“ – apžvelgiami kontekstualūs (politiniai-ekonominiai, kultūriniai-tradiciniai, religiniai) aspektai, formuojantys sinkretiškos architektų raiškos poreikį. [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / The phenomenon of universality in the architect‘s creative activity is examined in the MA Thesis. Syncretism in the artistic expression is a characteristic feature of an architect from the earliest cultures up to the contemporary times. Nevertheless, the concept of a Master which not only in the Renaissance epoch, but also in the earlier historic periods had the meaning of a universal artist, has changed radically due to the processes of fragmentation and specialization in the society. A deeper research in the topic and its actualization is required to accent the importance of universality in the architect‘s activity while forming the objects of art and architecture as well as addressing the contemporary contextual cultural, social and ecological issues. The historical origins of the phenomenon of universality in the architect‘s creative activity are studied in the first chapter. The notions of the „Universal artist“, „Master“ and „Talent“ as well as their historical interpretations and relevance are analysed. Contextual political-econimic, cultural-traditional and religious aspects of the phenomenon of universality in the architect‘s creative activity are analysed in the second chapter. Étude du syncrétisme de l’assiko à travers le geste et le foyer socioculturel d’un guitariste Bassa

Ce mémoire porte sur le rôle du geste musical dans le développement de styles musicaux devenus syncrétiques. Il s’attarde à définir dans le détail le style de guitare populaire assiko propre aux Bassa du Cameroun du Sud lequel est représenté internationalement par le guitariste et percussionniste traditionnel Atna Njock. Grâce à une approche dialogique et participative, les techniques du jeu assiko sont explorées et comparées à des exemples de jeu de guitare européenne, afro-américaines et africaines. Les influences qui définissent le jeu d’Atna découlent de la culture Bassa et de son histoire marquée par l’influence coloniale et missionnaire, mais sont aussi alimentées par la «philosophie» (voire la spiritualité) et le passé musical de l’artiste. L’approche participative fournit une perspective émique, c’est-à-dire interne à la culture, de la gestuelle et de la structure du jeu assiko même si nous confrontons les propos du musicien à notre propre regard analytique. La comparaison avec divers instruments de percussion auxquels Atna a été initié montre comment ceux-ci ont forgé son jeu guitaristique. Son rôle de « garant » de la tradition musicale Bassa influence son approche et se manifeste par une préoccupation particulière pour l’« authenticité » dans la reproduction des rythmes d’un « langage » musical donné. Ses liens avec la culture Bassa, s’expriment notamment par le biais de sa reproduction du style de jeu de son maître, Jean Bikoko « Aladin ». La contribution particulière d’Atna à la technique de guitare de Bikoko est comprise comme un ajout à la lignée ancestrale. Une analyse d’un morceau du répertoire assiko issu du plus récent album d’Atna illustre d’ailleurs comment son incorporation de styles « modernes » reproduit les processus traditionnels en intégrant des éléments culturels étrangers. / This master’s thesis is concerned with the role of musical gesture in the development of musical styles that have become syncretic. It seeks to define in detail the popular guitar style of assiko, particular to the Bassa of Southern Cameroon, as represented internationally by the guitarist and traditionally initiated percussionist, Atna Njock. Through a dialogic and participative approach, the techniques that underlie assiko guitar playing are explored by comparison with European, African American, and African examples. The influences that define Atna’s playing are contextualized within Bassa culture, with its troubled history of colonial and missionary influence, and elaborated by an account of his particular musical philosophy (or spirituality) and background. The participatory approach provides an emic perspective, meaning internal to the culture, of assiko playing technique and structure while subjecting the musician’s statements to our own analytical scrutiny. The comparison with the various percussion instruments on which Atna was initiated demonstrates how these instruments shaped his guitar playing. His role as “guarantor” of Bassa musical tradition underlies his approach to music, which manifests as a particular concern for “authenticity” in the reproduction of the rhythms of a given musical “language”. His connection to Bassa culture is ultimately expressed through his reproduction of the playing style of his master, originator of modern assiko, Jean Bikoko “Aladin”. Atna’s particular contribution to Bikoko’s guitar technique is conceived as adding to the ancestral lineage. An analysis of a current assiko piece from Atna’s most recent album demonstrates how his incorporation of “modern” styles reflects traditional processes of incorporating foreign cultural elements.

Nesta dissertação, partimos da base teórica da semiótica francesa para abordar o sincretismo da linguagem cinematográfica, sistema semiótico no qual é possível obter a significação homogênea da forma códica sincrética a partir da sincretização de linguagens concorrentes. Procuramos estabelecer o lugar do cinema na teoria semiótica para que a análise dos objetos sincréticos possa ser elaborada de maneira ampla considerando todas as linguagens envolvidas em sua manifestação. Assim, partimos das colocações do conceito de sincretismo de Hjelmslev (1975), Greimas e Courtés (1979) e dos avanços teóricos de Beividas (1983) para aprofundar a discussão a respeito de como pode ocorrer o arranjo e a organização das linguagens participantes do sistema de sincretização na linguagem do cinema, tendo em vista que se colocariam como funções do sistema sincrético e também como funtivos de novas funções que seriam criadas. Pretendemos demonstrar com a proposta do modelo de sincretização da forma códica sincrética que um filme pode ser analisado em uma abordagem abrangente da sincretização para que se alcance a complexidade da linguagem que constrói sua significação por meio da organização de diversas formas códicas, as linguagens individuais que participam do sistema sincrético. Por fim, buscamos abarcar as peculiaridades formais e materiais da linguagem cinematográfica com a análise semiótica de seu sistema de significação. / In this dissertation, we depart from the theoretical basis of French semiotics to treat the syncretism of cinematic language, semiotic system in which it is possible to obtain the homogeneous signification of the syncretic code form from the syncretization of concurrent languages. We aim at establishing the place of cinema in semiotic theory so that the analysis of syncretic objects can be broadly elaborated considering all languages involved in its manifestation. Thus, we assume the conceptualization of syncretism by Hjelmslev (1975), Greimas and Courtés (1979) and the theoretical advances proposed by Beividas (1983) to deepen the discussion about how the arrangement and the organization of languages that participate in the system of syncretization in the language of cinema may occur, assuming that they would act as functions of the syncretic system, and also as functives of new functions which would be created. We intend to demonstrate with a model of syncretization of the syncretic code form that a movie can be analyzed in a broad approach of syncretization so that the complexity of the language that constructs its signification is achieved through the organization of several code forms, the individual languages that participate in the syncretic system. Finally, we aim at covering the formal and material peculiarities of cinematic language through the semiotic analysis of its system of signification.

Un océan, deux îles, un peuple, une culture... Un isolât rude mais autosuffisant qui n'avait que peu de contacts avec les habitants des autres îles issus des mêmes ancêtres Austronésiens. Les Polynésiens de Wallis et Futuna se retrouvent brusquement confrontés à l'altérité religieuse, civilisatrice et guerrière des européens. Dans l'arsenal de ces nouveaux arrivants dans le Pacifique sud, outre le sabre et le goupillon, en plus du commerce et de l'administration républicaine, s'implantent une nouvelle éducation au travers de l'école et de nouvelles pratiques sportives. Sur une durée de moins de 150 ans, des pans entiers de la culture originelle ont été mis à mal ou ont irrémédiablement disparu. Toutefois cette acculturation rapide dans cet espace éloigné et difficile d'accès n'a pas été totale et des traces persistent. Des syncrétismes ont eu le temps de se mettre en place, les mémoires ne se sont pas complètement effacées et une reculturation est en marche. Entre histoire, géographie humaine et anthropologie sociale, ce travail fait état des altérations successives qui ont conduit à l'évolution des pratiques physiques. Par-delà nous tenterons de comprendre les mécanismes intimes de la transformation et de la renaissance possible d'une culture. / An ocean, two islands, one people, one culture ... A rough and secluded but self-sufficient place with very few contacts with other islands and similar peoples from the same ancestors. The Polynesians of Wallis and Futuna find themselves abruptly confronted to the religious, civilizing and warlike otherness of the Europeans. In the arsenal of these new arrivals in the South Pacific, in addition to swords and brushes, in addition to trade and republican administration, a new kind of education is implanted through schooling and new sporting practices. Over a period of less than 150 years, entire facets of the original culture were altered or simply disappeared. However, this rapid acculturation in this remote and difficult-to-access place has not been total and traces persist. Syncretisms have had time to develop, the memories have not been completely erased and a reculturation is ongoing. Between history, human geography and social anthropology, this work attempts to report the successive alterations that led to the evolution of physical activities. Beyond that, we will try to understand the intimate mechanisms of the transformation and of the possible rebirth of a culture.

These, in turn, grant the opportunity of understanding what is lived in day-to-day practices of circulation and consumption of the surroundings. Without failing to consider that in commercial and urban spaces, strong proponents such as the city’s government and the economic enablers (brands), operate in an articulate way that act in do-believe, do-do, do-feel. Based on the analysis of several retail spaces in the street of São Paulo, Farm’s brand store, located in Vila Madalena, in the city of São Paulo, was selected as the object of this research. In order to analyze its identity, it will be taken into account its connection with the Beco do Batman and the Harmonia street. This research aims answer the following: how does the Farm’s store, through the its speech construction promote experiences and dialogue with the values of the surroundings? Farm’s relationship with the social and physical environment allows us to see how the values of one subject, figuratively, interpenetrate the production of sense and identity of the other. Thus, symbolic and semi-symbolic elements are used to communicate messages of tradition, mission and style, that the enunciator elects to give to his axiology. The discursive semiotics of Greimas (and followers) makes it possible to evidence the senses that emerge at the point of sale, in its generative path of meaning. The relations that evoke sense-making will be identified using the narratives between subjects according to Landowski. From this foundation, the research intends to point out how the dynamics of interaction between target subjects and recipients operate in the construction of meaning. These, concretised in the plasticity and syncretism with more elements of the expression, supported by studies of Floch and Oliveira. Thus, symbolic and semi-symbolic elements are used to communicate messages of tradition, mission and style that the enunciator elects to give to see its axiology. This research will therefore, bring contributions to the students of space, and to those of the consumption and communication universe / As lojas são vistas como arranjos textuais que permitem a investigação pelos estudiosos de manifestações espaciais, o que abre oportunidades de compreensão do vivido nas práticas diárias de circulação e consumo do entorno, sem deixar de considerar que, nos espaços comerciais e urbanos, fortes destinadores operam de modo articulado, tais como a administração pública da cidade e os destinadores econômicos (marcas), que atuam em fazer-crer, fazer-fazer, fazer-sentir. A partir da análise de diversos espaços do varejo nas ruas paulistana, foi selecionado como corpus de estudos a loja da marca Farm, situada na Rua Harmonia, no bairro Vila Madalena, na cidade de São Paulo. Para analisar a construção do simulacro da identidade da marca, será levada em consideração sua conexão com o Beco do Batman e os comércios da rua. Busca-se responder à seguinte questão: como a loja Farm, nos modos de construção de seu discurso, promove experiências que dialogam com os valores do entorno? Essa relação da loja Farm com o meio social e físico permite entrever como os valores de um sujeito, figurativizados, interpenetram a produção do efeito de sentido de identidade do outro. A semiótica discursiva de Greimas e seguidores possibilita elucidar os sentidos que emergem no ponto de venda, em seu percurso gerativo de sentido. As relações que convocam o fazer-sensível serão identificadas a partir das narrativas entre os sujeitos, segundo postulado da sociosemiótica de Landowski. Dessa fundamentação, a pesquisa aponta como a dinâmica das interações entre sujeitos destinadores e destinatários opera na construção de sentido. Essas relações concretizam-se na análise da plasticidade e sincretismo dos elementos da expressão, sustentada por estudos de Floch e Oliveira. Assim, distinguem-se elementos simbólicos e semissimbólicos utilizados para comunicar mensagens de tradição, missão e estilo que o enunciador elege para dar a ver sua axiologia. The main objective of this work is to analyze the elements that constitute this relationship through its historical, symbolic and ritualistic aspects. In addition, this is justified, therefore, the dialectic of this relationship has brought unfoldings to the religious field and its parameters can be used for the study of other phenomena. The hypothesis raised is that the fundamental aspects of this relationship are reflexes of mentalities present in Brazil, generally of a prejudiced and intolerant nature, marginalizing people because of their individualities. This work was constituted, first through the proper discourses of the religions with works that seek to systematize their experiences, which gives that the religious phenomenon express itself. Moreover, through the theoretical reference, based on the human sciences, we have brought the analysis of the constitutive elements of these religions and the construction of their relation. Therefore, the result was the obtaining of a panorama of the constitution and consolidation of this relationship in the religious field, through approximations and resignifications, as well as other factors that, based on their complexity, guarantee their particularity / O campo religioso brasileiro se mostra plural, cheio de nuances e, partir disso, existem fenômenos que devem ser estudados dentro de suas especificidades, como é o caso da relação entre a Umbanda e a Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus. O objetivo principal deste trabalho é analisar os elementos que constituem essa relação através de seus aspectos históricos, simbólicos e ritualísticos. E isso se justifica, pois, a dialética dessa relação trouxe desdobramentos para o campo religioso e seus parâmetros podem ser utilizados para o estudo de outros fenômenos. A hipótese levantada é que os aspectos fundamentais dessa relação são reflexos de mentalidades presentes no Brasil, geralmente de cunho preconceituoso e intolerante, marginalizando pessoas por causa de suas individualidades. Este trabalho foi constituído, primeiramente, através dos discursos próprios das religiões com obras que buscam sistematizar as suas experiências, o que nos proporciona que o fenômeno religioso se expresse em si mesmo. Além disso, através do referencial teórico, baseado nas ciências humanas, trouxemos a análise dos elementos constitutivos dessas religiões e da construção de sua relação. No âmbito da Divulgação da Ciência na Mídia (DCM), destaca-se o infográfico que se orienta para as visadas do fazer-saber e fazer-compreender ciência, marcado pelo fazer-sentir promovido pela plasticidade das cores, das formas e das topografias utilizadas. Mesmo assim, são escassos os trabalhos de investigação sobre esse texto sincrético (em que imagem e palavra, simultaneamente, produzem o sentido). Consequentemente, foram encontrados, desde o início desta pesquisa, apenas estudos no campo do periodismo, na Comunicação. Por esse motivo, esta tese objetiva investigar o infográfico do ponto de vista discursivo-linguístico, fundamentando a ação nas teorias Semiolinguística e Linguística Textual, suplementadas pelos aportes epistêmicos da Semiótica Plástica. Esta possibilita analisar a imagem e integra a visão da Linguística focalizada nesse texto ancestral e contemporâneo da comunicação humana. Especificamente, objetiva-se analisar como se configuram os processos constitutivos da tessitura linguística da infografia, uma vez que os mecanismos de linguagem verbal e visual apontam para ações descritivas, narrativas e explicativas. Integram o percurso metodológico, primeiro, a constituição de um corpus de 58 textos infografados, isolados ou inseridos em matérias mais extensas, das revistas de divulgação científica midiática "Superinteressante", "Saúde! é vital" e "Mundo Estranho", selecionados entre agosto de 2008 e dezembro de 2009; segundo, o exame de aspectos discursivo-textuais de cada infográfico, compondo uma tabela de anotações revisada a cada semestre dos anos da elaboração da tese. Dessa observação e desses procedimentos, levantaram-se teorias que pudessem esclarecer a composição do infográfico DCM, o que implica assumir o caráter qualitativo da metodologia. Anotam-se os seguintes resultados: o infográfico da DCM se revela descritivo verbovisualmente; essa feição descritiva possibilita ancorar ações narrativas (em menor escala) e oportuniza, na grande maioria dos textos examinados, explicações sobre fenômenos, objetos e fatos, tanto em sequências explicativas quanto em fins ilocutórios dos textos, relacionados à ciência ou à tecnologia. Por consequência, a infografia tem um papel destacado nas explicações complexas, já que a verbovisualidade promove a otimização informativa (faz-saber e faz-compreender). Conclusivamente, é possível categorizar o infográfico como um texto relevante do letramento verbal, científico e visual e sustentar que as pesquisas sobre essa forma de produzir sentidos em texto são significativas para ações educativas, previstas, inclusive, nos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCNs), e em projetos ou programas de letramento em diversas áreas de conhecimento humano. / Infographics have been largely used in several communicative situations that involve different knowledge areas, especially in the media domain. In the context of the Divulgation of Science in the Media (DSM), the infographic that contemplates the dimensions of the know-how and of the make-comprehend science, marked by the make-feel promoted by the plasticity of the colors, shapes and topography used in the diagram is highlighted. To the best of our knowledge, there are few studies about this syncretic text (in which image and word, simultaneously, produce the comprehension). Consequently, since the beginning of this research only studies in the field of journalism were found, related to Communication Sciences. For this reason, this thesis aims at investigating the infographic from a discursive-linguistic point of view based on the Semiolinguistic and Textual Linguistics theories supplemented by epistemic contributions of the Plastic Semiotics. The latter enables the analysis of the image and integrates the Linguistics perspective focused in this ancestral and contemporary text of the human communication. Specifically, the main aim of this study is to analyze what is the configuration of the processes that constitute the linguistic organization of the infographics taking into consideration that the mechanisms of the verbal and visual language point to descriptive, narrative and explanatory actions. As part of the methodological path, the first step was the collection of a corpus of 58 infographic texts, isolated or inserted in longer articles of scientific divulgation magazines in the media such as “Superinteressante”, “Saúde! é vital” and “Mundo Estranho”. The texts were selected between August 2008 and December 2009. In a second step, an analysis of the discursive-textual aspects of each infographic was performed, compounding an annotation table that was reviewed each semester during the thesis development period. From this observation and using these procedures, different theories that can clarify the composition of the DSM infographic were elaborated, which implies in assuming the qualitative characteristic of the methodology. The following results were noted: the DSM infographic reveals itself as a descriptive tool in the verbal dimension as well as in the visual dimension. Such descriptive feature enables the anchorage of narrative actions (to a lesser extent) and creates the possibility of explanations, in a greater number of the texts analyzed, about phenomena, objects and facts, both in explanatory sequences and in ilocutory aims of texts, related to science or technology. Consequently, infographics have an important role in complex explanations, as verbal and visual aspects promote an informative optimization (make-know and make-comprehend). In conclusion, it is possible to classifiy the in fographic as a relevant text of the verbal, scientific and visual literacy. Furthermore, it carries out that researches about this form of producing comprehension in a text are significant for educational actions, foreseen in the “Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais” (PCNs) and in literacy projects or programs in several areas of the human knowledge.

It also seeks to understand how the discursive interactions are given and what they establish to construct the production of meanings for the candidate. Created in 1998, the ENEM is a national level test and the initial objective was to evaluate the student at the end of basic education. As of 2009, when it gained greater popularity, the test to be used as a mode of selection in higher education institutions. The problematic is how the MEC articulates a perspective on a given theme, concretizing in texts of several languages for the candidate to understand them and, thus, to construct the argumentative e dissertation writing according to the competences required by the Exam. In order to respond to this questioning we work with the hypotheses that the MEC operates in the interaction regimes by combining procedures of the programming and manipulation regimes, structured by the choices of the enunciative strategies, to lead the candidate to adhere to the same point of view of the autarchy. These productions start from a themes introduced by the MEC with questions in the life of the candidate, which leads to test the hypothesis that the way to put the motivational texts in articulation, made available in several languages, forms the strategy of global enunciation with the sense of own point of view. The research also investigated whether there is a prominence in the plastic arrangement of the expression plane, which directs the candidate's thoughts with arguments that should be presented in his writing. The corpus of the research is composed of seven tests from the years 2009 to 2015. The analysis is based on the theoretical and methodological framework of the Discursive Semiotics of Algirdas Julien Greimas are explored the Sociosemiotics of Eric Landowski and the syncretism studies developed by Ana Claudia de Oliveira . For the understanding of the enunciation processes, the studies of José Luiz Fiorin, Norma Discini and Diana Barros are prioritized, as well as official government documents related to Education / À luz dos estudos da semiótica francesa, esta pe squisa objetiva examinar como o Ministério da Educação trabalha com os mecanismos de enunciação sincrética da totalidade de sentidos da proposta de redação do Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio – ENEM – em escolhas de textos de diferentes linguagens, identificados na prova como textos motivadores. Também se busca compreender como se dão as interações discursivas e o que essas estabelecem para construir a produção de sentidos para o candidato. Criado em 1998, o ENEM é uma prova realizada em nível nacional e o objetivo inicial era o de avaliar o estudante ao final da educação básica. A partir de 2009, quando ganhou maior popularidade, o exame passou a ser utilizado como modo de seleção nas instituições de ensino superior. A problemática norteadora desse trabalho está de que maneira o MEC articula uma perspectiva sobre um tema dado, concretizando em textos de várias linguagens para o candidato depreendê-las e, assim, construir a redação dissertativaargumentativa de acordo com as competências requeridas pelo Exame. Para responder a esse questionamento trabalhamos com as hipóteses de que o MEC opera nos regimes de interação conjugando procedimentos dos regimes de programação e manipulação, estruturados pelas escolhas das estratégias enunciativas, para levar o candidato a aderir ao mesmo modo de pensar da autarquia. Para tanto, o Destinador considera os candidatos como sujeitos dotados de linguagem e aptos a reelaborar suas traduções de mundo em produções de linguagens verbal escrita. Essas produções partem de um temário apresentado pelo MEC com questões existentes no viver do candidato, o que leva a testar a hipótese que o modo de colocar os textos motivadores em articulação, disponibilizados em várias linguagens, forma a estratégia de enunciação global com o sentido do próprio ponto de vista do Destinador. A pesquisa também investigou se há destaque no arranjo plástico da expressão da proposta, o que direciona os pensamentos do candidato com argumentos que deverão ser apresentados em sua escritura. O corpus da pesquisa é composto por sete propostas de redação do exame dos anos de 2009 a 2015. Do arcabouço teórico-metodológico da Semiótica de Algirdas Julien Greimas exploramse a Sociossemiótica de Eric Landowski e os estudos do sincretismo desenvolvidos por Ana Claudia de Oliveira. We believe that the feminist approach, while criticism of modernity, is meant to focus on these relationships, usually revealing issues and pointing out who oppresses marginalized and those who suffer oppression in a system based on gender inequality. The Vale do Amanhecer was created and consolidated from the foresight of its founder, Neiva Chaves Zelaya, Tia Neiva, and is characterized by syncretism of beliefs, symbols, structure, ritual practices and costumes used by his / her fans / them. Faced with this object of study, our proposal is associated with the effort to understand the roles played by men and women to demonstrate how biological determinant classifies people as sex or not able to perform certain functions in some ritualistic practices. Considering these aspects, we can say that this religious movement gives privileges to male roles, determines performance spaces for women and defines the ideal behavior for them and them, reinforcing present in androcentric society / Esta pesquisa se dedica a discutir as relações de gênero presentes nas práticas do cotidiano ritualístico da comunidade religiosa denominada Vale do Amanhecer e seu contexto sócio-cultural, tendo como principal referencial teórico a investigação científica feminista. Entendemos que a abordagem feminista, enquanto crítica à modernidade, tem o propósito de focar essas relações, revelando questões costumeiramente marginalizadas e apontando quem oprime e quem sofre opressão em um sistema baseado na desigualdade de gênero. O Vale do Amanhecer foi criado e consolidado a partir das clarividências de sua fundadora, Neiva Chaves Zelaya, a Tia Neiva, e destaca-se pelo sincretismo de crenças, símbolos, estrutura de práticas ritualísticas e indumentárias utilizadas por seus/suas adeptos/as. Diante deste objeto de estudo, nossa proposta se associa ao esforço de compreender os papéis desempenhados por homens e mulheres para demonstrar como o determinante biológico sexo classifica as pessoas como aptas ou não para o desempenho de determinadas funções em algumas práticas ritualísticas. Considerando tais aspectos, é possível afirmar que este movimento religioso dá privilégios às funções masculinas, determina espaços para atuação das mulheres e define ideais de comportamento para eles e elas, reforçando a cultura androcêntrica presente na sociedade
