Factors to consider when adapting mobile payment: To increase consumeradoption of mobile payment services.

Lilliecrona, David, Sundelin, Fabian January 2017 (has links)
(Dahlberg, Mallat, Ondrus and Zmijewska, 2008). Although E-commerce require the consumers to have access to a stationary computer in their homes. Mobile commerce and mobile payments overcame this obstacle and allowed consumer to shop wherever they want (Zmijewska., Lawrence & Steele, 2007). Driven by the mobility of mobile phones there has been a fast increase in recent years in mobile commerce and mobile payment services, and both have increasingly become a part of consumers’ everyday life(Hwang, Shiau & Jan, 2007). Mobile payments offer unique possibilities for businesses to improve the communications, increase the value for the consumers, and to be able to engage with the consumers wherever they are. This will strengthen the brand of the businesses and solidify their customer relationships (Early, 2014). However for businesses to follow the mobile payment trend and get the most value out of their mobile payment solutions it is important for them to know what factors to consider to increase the consumer adoption and acceptance of their mobile payment services. Dahlberg, Mallat, Ondrus and Zmijewska(2008) believe that more research is needed to enhance the current understanding of mobilepayment services and to improve the quality and relevance of mobile payment research(Dahlberg, Mallat, Ondrus and Zmijewska, 2008). The findings of this thesis are a set of factors that are believed to positively influence the consumer adoption intention of mobile payment. The findings are the following:· Go beyond transactions· Create a fast experience· Make it easy· Make it reliable· Adapt to the mobile phone· Make paying with the phone a pleasant experience· Counter the perceived security· Change the habits· Target the right segment· Offer an abundance of payment options· Make it free or cheap

Consumer Adoption of Personal Health Records

Majedi, Armin January 2014 (has links)
Health information technology (HIT) aims to improve healthcare services by means of technological tools. Patient centered technologies such as personal health records are relatively new HIT tools that enable individuals to get involved in their health management activities. These tools enable the transformation of health consumer behavior from one of passive health information consumers to that of active managers of their health information. This new role is more interactive and engaged, and with such tools, patients can better navigate their lives, and exercise more control over their treatments, hence potentially also leading to improvement in the quality of health services. Despite the benefits of using personal health record systems for health consumers, the adoption rate of these systems remains low. Many free and paid services have not received the uptake that had been anticipated when these services were first introduced. This study investigates some factors that affect the adoption of these systems, and may shed light on some potential reasons for low adoption rates. In developing the theoretical model of this study, social cognitive theory (SCT) and technology acceptance model (TAM) were utilized. The theoretical model was validated through a quantitative survey-based methodology, and the results were derived using structural equation modeling techniques. The key findings of this study highlight the role of individual and environmental factors as determinants of end-user behavior in the adoption of personal health records. The results show that in addition to perceptions of usefulness and ease of use, factors such as social norms and technology awareness are also significantly associated with various factors that directly and indirectly affect intention to use PHRs Based on the results obtained in this study, recommendations are offered for technology providers, and possible directions are proposed for academic researchers.

The Impact of Predisposition Towards Group Work on Intention to Use a CSCW System

Reyna, Josephine 05 1900 (has links)
Groupware packages are increasingly being used to support content delivery, class discussion, student to student and student to faculty interactions and group work on projects. This research focused on groupware packages that are used to support students who are located in different places, but who are assigned group projects as part of their coursework requirements. In many cases, students are being asked to use unfamiliar technologies that are very different from those that support personal productivity. For example, computer-assisted cooperative work (CSCW) technology is different from other more traditional, stand-alone software applications because it requires the user to interact with the computer as well as other users. However, familiarity with the technology is not the only requirement for successful completion of a group assigned project. For a group to be successful, it must also have a desire to work together on the project. If this pre-requisite is not present within the group, then the technology will only create additional communication and coordination barriers. How much of an impact does each of these factors have on the acceptance of CSCW technology? The significance of this study is threefold. First, this research contributed to how a user's predisposition toward group work affects their acceptance of CSCW technology. Second, it helped identify ways to overcome some of the obstacles associated with group work and the use of CSCW technology in an academic online environment. Finally, it helped identify early adopters of CSCW software and how these users can form the critical mass required to diffuse the technology. This dissertation reports the impact of predisposition toward group work and prior computer experience on the intention to use synchronous CSCW. It was found that predisposition toward group work was not only positively associated to perceived usefulness; it was also related to intention to use. It also found that perceived ease of use, at least in this study, had a direct and positive impact on intention, and was not mediated through perceived usefulness. These findings hold implications for academia and how it uses complex collaborative software. Avenues for further research are identified.

A Comparative Analysis of Style of User Interface Look and Feel in a Synchronous Computer Supported Cooperative Work Environment

Livingston, Alan 05 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the style of a user interface (i.e., its look and feel) has an effect on the usability of a synchronous computer supported cooperative work (CSCW) environment for delivering Internet-based collaborative content. The problem motivating this study is that people who are located in different places need to be able to communicate with one another. One way to do this is by using complex computer tools that allow users to share information, documents, programs, etc. As an increasing number of business organizations require workers to use these types of complex communication tools, it is important to determine how users regard these types of tools and whether they are perceived to be useful. If a tool, or interface, is not perceived to be useful then it is often not used, or used ineffectively. As organizations strive to improve communication with and among users by providing more Internet-based collaborative environments, the users' experience in this form of delivery may be tied to a style of user interface look and feel that could negatively affect their overall acceptance and satisfaction of the collaborative environment. The significance of this study is that it applies the technology acceptance model (TAM) as a tool for evaluating style of user interface look and feel in a collaborative environment, and attempts to predict which factors of that model, perceived ease of use and/or perceived usefulness, could lead to better acceptance of collaborative tools within an organization.

Adoption of mobile payment methods, a challenge for the senior citizens of Sweden?

Baudlot, Fanny, Engholm, Emil January 2019 (has links)
For the first time ever, mobile payments in Sweden have overtaken cash as the preferred method of payment when it comes to monthly payments. With cashless payments growing in Sweden and all over the world it is clear that mobile payment methods are going to increase in our everyday lives. As elders tend to have more difficulties learning and understanding software, it is not unlikely that this will affect the adoption of mobile payment methods. As cash is rapidly disappearing as a payment method in Sweden it is important to gain insight into which factors affect the acceptance of mobile payment methods among senior citizens, as they are the most frequent users of cash today. This is a qualitative case study where five seniors have been interviewed about their opinions on mobile payments based on a theoretical model of mobile adoption consisting of eleven variables. The interviews came to center around the Swedish mobile payment application Swish as it was the only mobile payment service that the participants were aware of and had experience using. The study’s goal is to gain knowledge of what variables are of importance to the senior consumers when deciding whether or not to adopt a mobile payment system. The main findings of the study are that the variables: social influence, attractiveness of alternatives and trust are the variables that have been seen to affect the senior citizens' adoption of mobile payment the most.

Technology-enhanced Speech and Language Relearning for Stroke Patients- Understanding the users and their needs for technology acceptance

Ahmad, Awais January 2021 (has links)
Stroke is a rapidly increasing disease worldwide, and speech and language impairments are common in stroke patients. A patient’s ability to speak, listen, read and write is reduced after stroke which affects the patient's independently living and quality of life. After an initial evaluation at the hospital, the stroke survivors are referred to the stroke rehabilitation centre where the speech therapists assist them in their challenging and long journey towards speech and language relearning. To enhance the patient's quality of life and to facilitate the speech therapists, technology-enhanced systems can play an important role. However, the currently used software applications such as online speech and language relearning applications are not specifically designed after the user’s need, and the user’s participation and empowerment are compromised. Medical caregivers and stroke patients are the main stakeholders and potential users of these software applications. Therefore, this study is aimed to understand the medical caregivers and the stroke patients’ needs for technology-enhanced speech and language relearning from medical caregivers’ viewpoint.  Design science research strategy was adopted to create, implement and evaluate the artefact. Some important stakeholders such as speech therapists, a stroke specialist doctor, information and technology professionals and one stroke survivor participated in this study. Following the speech therapist’s expert opinion, an application for speech and language assessment was developed as an artefact. The application was then evaluated for technology acceptance with the speech therapists. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) was used as the theoretical foundation for making the interview questions and data analysis.  The user's requirements for software application differ from one patient to another depending upon the patient's overall health after stroke, their age, social life, the level of speech and language loss, and previous experience with technology use. Stroke is common in adults and adults like to participate in designing their relearning process; therefore, adults should be involved in deciding the learning objectives, and adult learning principles are helpful to understate their needs for speech and language relearning. Due to impaired physical and cognitive conditions, the patients need a bigger interface with larger fonts and pictures and more constructive colours than usual. Tablets with touch pens are preferred hardware. The speech therapist should have the possibility to change the exercises runtime according to the patient's abilities and stamina to do the exercises.  The technology acceptance evaluation showed that the developed application was easy to use and efficient for speech therapists. The study participants also highlighted some critical issues for better usability and technology acceptance. The application should be synchronized with speech therapists’ existing workflow and routines, and it should directly be connected to the hospital records system so that the patients’ data can easily be transferred to their journals.  The role of facilitating conditions such as proper education and training about the system, and personalised support is also important in technology acceptance. The user’s trust in the system’s security and privacy and their personal integrity were also highlighted as main determinants for technology adoption and use. To achieve better coherence between the users and technology, all the tasks/exercises and sub-tasks in the application should be designed in close collaboration with speech therapists and stroke patients. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, only one stroke survivor was interviewed in this study. However, the patients’ perspective is of utmost importance, and in future research, they will be involved in the design and development of such technology-enhanced systems.

Factors influencing the adoption of enterprise application architecture for supply chain management in small and medium enterprises with Capricorn District Municipality

Lamola, Kingston Xerxes Theophilus January 2021 (has links)
Thesis (M.COM. (Business Management)) -- University of Limpopo, 2021 / Increasing consumer demand, customer expectations, and change in technology compel industrial corporations, governments and small medium enterprises (SMEs) to adopt Enterprise Application Architecture (EAA). EAA is a system where the applications and software are connected to each other in such a way that new components can easily be integrated with existing components. This study focused on how internal and external factors impact the adoption of EAA for Supply Chain Management (SCM) in SMEs, located in the Capricorn District Municipality. Data is analysed through a statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS version 25). A quantitative methodology with self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from SMEs (SMEs owners and managers). In total, 480 questionnaires were distributed and 310 useable were returned. Cronbach’s Alpha was used to measure reliability. Data validity is obtained through the use of Kolmogorov-Sminorv-Test to ensuring that the questionnaire was based on assumptions from accepted theories as set out in the literature review. From the research findings, it was concluded that the adoption of EAA for SCM in SMEs depends on internal factors, external factors and perceived attitudes towards the adoption of EAA. The managerial implications of the study is based on actual results such as; (a) Internal factors on owners’ characteristics were described as assessment of interior dynamics affecting the enterprise, of which the management have a full control over them, such as employees, business culture, norms and ethics, processes and overall functional activities, (b) The Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) revealed that behavioural measures on Enterprise Resources that depends on speculations about the intensions towards the adoption of EAA for SCM, (c) Compatibility in Diffusion Theory of Innovation ascertains that Technology Acceptance Models need to be linked with relevant Information System Components to have a functional EAA for SCM, (d) The Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) encourages apparent behaviour on control for supplementary forecaster on intentions of employees towards the adoption of EAA for SCM in SMEs, (e) The TPB encourages apparent behaviour on control for supplementary forecaster on intentions of employees towards the adoption of EAA for SCM in SMEs, (f) Consultations with government parastatals or legal representatives of the enterprise would save the SMEs against any unforeseen challenges such as product liabilities, legal costs on lawsuit, tax evasion or avoidance penalties so forth, (g) The Diffusion Theory of Innovation (DTI) proposes that the Perceived Attitudes towards the Adoption of EAA have is affected by behaviour challenges from employees’ personal conduct that affect SCM activities within the SMEs, and (h) The DTI on the intention towards the adoption of EAA for SCM provides the competence in limiting some negative thoughts about the integrative phases or steps limiting the adoption of EAA for SCM.

Pettersson, Daniel, Nyrén, Nils January 2020 (has links)
A large number of studies have been carried out in recent years to investigate the success factors in elearning. Based on the large number of studies, an opportunity to conduct a literature review to compile the information was identified. The chosen method for the study is a literature review based on 22 scientific articles. Based on the identified literature, two theories have been central, the Technology Acceptance Model and the Unified Theory of User Acceptance and Use of Technology. The literature is not completely unanimous on the success factors that are most critical for getting students to use elearning. Overall, two success factors from each model were identified: Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use from TAM and Performance Expectancy and Effort Expectancy from UTAUT. The articles indicate that the success factors look different depending on how different generations view and use modern technology, as well as cultural differences. Utifrån den identifierade litteraturen har två teorier varit centrala, Technology Acceptance Model och Unified Theory of User Acceptance and Use of Technology.

Factors affecting different payment methods online : A comparative study between invoice, card and multiple alternatives when shopping online.

Antila, Adam, Ek, Christian January 2020 (has links)
The rapid development of E-commerce over the past decade has opened up new opportunities for both businesses and consumers, and this has changed the payment methods. In line with the technological development that has taken place, consumers' intentions and perceptions have also changed and factors such as usability, ease of use, trust and risk are strongly linked to online purchasing behavior. The two most common payment methods for Swedish e-commerce consumers today are bank cards / credit cards and invoices. The purpose of this study was to examine the intention and perception of payment methods, cards and invoice of Swedish consumers, as well as situations with more payment options when shopping online. To our aid, the Technological Acceptance Model (TAM) has been used together with Pavlous (2003) e-commerce model to see if the factors they found also affected Swedish consumers. A questionnaire was developed focusing on three parts, 1) bank card / credit card, 2) invoice and 3) several payment methods. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS and the results showed that the factor that had the greatest impact was usability. For the payment methods bank card / credit card and when several options were listed, the analysis showed that the risk factor did not affect the intention to use the payment methods. Invoice was the payment method that was perceived as least risky among the respondents. The result also showed that although bank cards / credit cards have a higher risk, most people are inclined to use the payment method in the next purchase, as opposed to invoice, which had a lower risk which can be explained by bank card / credit card being the most used payment method in Sweden.
