Vliv subjektivního vizuálního vnímání na automatické hodnocení vzhledu rozhraní dashboard / Impact of Subjective Visual Perception on Automatic Evaluation of Dashboard Design

Hynek, Jiří Unknown Date (has links)
Práce kombinuje obecné znalosti týkající rozhraní dashboard s poznatky z oblasti vizualizace dat, vizuálního vnímání a ověřování kvality uživatelských rozhraní a následně zkoumá myšlenku automatického hodnocení vzhledu rozhraní dashboard s využitím metrik. Práce analyzuje vybrané metriky založené na analýze pixelů bitmapy a grafických elementů. Konkrétně zkoumá, jakým způsobem uživatelé rozpoznávají grafické elementy v rozhraních dashboard a výsledky aplikuje pro hodnocení schopnosti metrik (analyzujících grafické elementy rozhraní) objektivně rozpoznávat dobře navržené vzorky rozhraní dashboard.

Navigating through Frustrations : A User-Centered Approach to Enhancing Airborne Early Warning and Control System Operator Experience

Jönsson, Josef January 2023 (has links)
This master thesis focuses on enhancing the user interface experience for Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system operators in a military context. Collaborating with Saab, a defense sector company, the study employs the research through design and a user-centered design approach to investigate user needs and how they interact with the interface. The research reveals that despite the unique nature of the defense industry, operators respond poorly to a difficult-to-use interface, leading to frustration and underutilization of functionalities. The study identifies contextual factors such as information overload, user interface design and personalization, task difficulty and lack of help systems, stress, and cognitive load. Through the development and testing of a new interface prototype, incorporating design feedback sessions and iterations, the thesis addresses these contextual demands. The findings highlight the significance of introducing user experience in military environments, where complex system engineering and functionality have been traditionally preferred over simplicity and usability.

Comparing User Interface Design Implementation between Cross-Platform and Native Mobile Applications : FlutterFlow versus Jetpack Compose / Jämförelse av Implementering av Användargränssnitt mellan Cross-Platform och Native Mobila Applikationer : FlutterFlow kontra Jetpack Compose

Jonsson Sjödin, Adrian, Lundqvist, Alexander January 2023 (has links)
Smartphones have become indispensable in modern life, largely due to the vast array of apps that aim to simplify and enrich our daily experiences. Given the vast number of apps available, it's crucial to have a unique and user-friendly UI to stand out from the crowd. This thesis explores the processes of mobile application UI development, contrasting the traditional declarative programming approach with the Android toolkit Jetpack Compose and the use of a web based low-code tool, FlutterFlow, for cross-platform applications. The goal is to provide valuable insights for those seeking to develop competitive, modern UI. This is achieved by examining the advantages and disadvantages of each approach, focusing on their ability to create non-standard custom components, the scalability of the apps developed, and potential differences in UI responsiveness, animation smoothness, and overall fluidity. To address these questions, a case study was conducted where an application was developed using both approaches. In addition, a qualitative user survey was conducted to assess whether users could discern any difference between the two applications. The findings suggest that while users did not perceive a significant difference, Jetpack Compose outperformed in terms of app scalability and the creation of non-standard custom components. On the other hand, FlutterFlow proved advantageous in implementing standard functionalities and animations, as well as offering a considerably faster development time when only standard components were required.

Utveckling av en webbapplikation för bokning av testresurser : Applikationsutveckling i React och Node.js / Development of a web application for booking test resources : Application development in React and Node.js

Al Sabbagh, Madian, Al Sabbagh, Luay January 2023 (has links)
The web application Testpersonbokaren is used by Nordic Medtest to book fake test persons for various actors in healthcare so that they can test and validate their environments without being dependent on real personal data. The purpose of this project is to develop a new version of Testpersonbokaren with new technologies and frameworks as the existing version has several problems and limitations. This was achieved by creating a Node.js server and developing two new web interfaces for Testpersonbokaren, where one is only used by Nordic Medtest and the other is used by Sweden's regions, municipalities and private actors. Both web interfaces are developed with the React framework. The new Testpersonbokaren has a more modern look and more functionality than the old one. Unlike the old version, the new one has good documentation, which makes the further development of the web application easier. The new Testpersonbokaren is ready to be put into operation at Nordic Medtest.

Utvecklandet av ett mer användbart system : - En designanalys av ledningssystemet C2STRIC - / The Development of a More User-Friendly System : - A Design Analysis of the Command-and-Control System C2STRIC -

Schenning, Joacim, Rydén, Tova January 2023 (has links)
In a modern world torn apart by war the basic human need to feel safe is threatened. In order to defend and protect this need, technical defense systems solving complex situations are of great importance. As the rate of technological innovation accelerates it is important for companies like Saab to maintain their competitive advantage. One way of doing this is by offering modern systems of high quality with intuitive interfaces increasing the usability. This master’s thesis aims at evaluating Saab Surveillance’s command and control system C2STRIC by an analysis of its user interface. It further aims at identifying usability problems and designing prototypes solving said problems, to increase the system’s usability. The system in question is a safety critical system, meaning that its malfunction might lead to severe consequences or death. This system characteristic permeates the whole thesis, resulting in findings unique for C2STRIC and thus maybe not generalizable. Through a close collaboration and interviews with the users the issues were identified and compiled. Due to secrecy reasons all the interviews were conducted live without recordings. All of them at Saab’s premises, except one which was conducted at “Stridslednings- och luftbevakningsskolan” at Uppsala garrison. Most of the interviews were scheduled while some were spontaneous. With the help of the compilation of identified problems, high fidelity prototypes could be developed in Adobe XD through an iterative user-centered design process. The process provided continuous feedback which helped in delivering prototypes satisfying the needs of the users. The primary problems regarded disturbances of the situational awareness of the user, i.e., issues preventing the user from performing its tasks according to circumstances. These disturbances were caused by ineffective navigation in the interface and poorly optimized object visualization. Prototypes introducing transparency, docking systems, search functions, radial menus and a new main menu solved these problems and increased the usability of C2STRIC - and they will in extension help in defending and protecting the basic human need to feel safe.

A User-Centric Tabular Multi-Column Sorting Interface For Intact Transposition Of Columnar Data

Miles, David B. L. 12 January 2006 (has links) (PDF)
Many usability features designed in software applications are not procedurally intuitive for software users. A good example of software usability involves tabular sorting in a spreadsheet. Single-column sorting, activated with a mouse click to a column header or toolbar button, often produces rearranged listings that reduce cognitive organization beyond the sorted column. Multi-column sorting, generated through menu-driven processes, provides derived organization, however, locating feature options through menu-based systems can be confusing. A means to overcome this confusion is prioritized selection of database arrays issued to columnar displays for the purpose of intact transposition of data. This is a unique process designed as a user-centric tabular multi-column sorting interface. Designed within this experimental software application is a "trickle down" logic perceived as a navigation rule. The design offers logic associated with decision choices as used to pursue a software solution. The solution in this instance is a compiled resultant of separate and distinct columnar data sorting. The design was initially implemented in a software application housing thousands of examination scores. Observations of the design concept's effectiveness in practice led to further investigation through this master's thesis. To validate the research design, research participants were introduced to an example of traditional database sort/selection with practice examples. These users were also provided sorting exercises to reinforce the discussed concepts--both experimental and traditional. Finally, a survey questionnaire allowed them to provide feedback about the different task methods for sorting as well as the experience of using these dissimilar methods. The hypothesis was not validated through the research survey. Consideration of observations of the design in a production environment for four years, however, provided impetus to suggest further research of the design concept.

Human Interfaces for Cooperative Control of Multiple Vehicle Systems

Sun, Jisang 20 March 2006 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis presents a human interface which helps users efficiently allocate multiple unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) cooperating to accomplish timing-sensitive missions in an urban environment. The urban environment consists of obstacles and a hazardous region. The obstacles represent a "no-go zone" while the hazardous region represents a high-risk area. The main object of this problem is to minimize the team operational cost while satisfying timing constraints. Operational costs for individual vehicles are based on risk and power consumption, and are calculated using path length and vehicle velocity. In this thesis, three types of timing constraints are considered: simultaneous arrival, tight sequential arrival, and loose sequential arrival. Coordination variables and functions are the strategy by which both temporal and spatial information is used to achieve cooperative timing at a minimum cost. Specifically, coordination variables and functions are used to plan trajectories for a team of UGVs that satisfy timing constraints. The importance of properly representing information to users, allowing them to make efficient decisions, is also discussed. Four different control interfaces (temporal, spatial, cost, and coordination variable/function control) were tested. A full factorial design of experiments was performed with response time, workload, and quality of decision as metrics used to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of each interface. Based on the results of this experiment, a final graphical user interface (GUI) was designed and is described. It incorporates a combination of coordination variable/function control and cost control. This GUI is capable of planning paths for vehicles based on cooperative timing constraints and enables users to make high quality decisions in deploying a group of vehicles.
