En studie om gropkeramikernas förhållningssätt kring kollaps och resiliens, med den adaptiva modellen som analysmetod / A study of the pitted ware culture and their approach towards collapse andresilience, using the adaptive cycle as a method of analysis

Lind, Victoria January 2023 (has links)
Pitted ware culture is an interesting culture during the middle neolithic period due to the mesollithic hunting tendencies. This text examines the cultures approach to setbacks and resilience by registering potential setbacks within the culture. This will be done by compiling sources from previous research on pitted ware culutre and by using the adaptive model where collapse and resilience are defined. The compiled sources include the social network, rituals, diet, osteological analyses, DNA - analysis and trade of the pitted ware culture. This essay has defined the geographical area where the primary sources include the sites of: Ajvide, Västerbjers and Jettböle.

Kärlens Gåta : en studie av gropkeramiska gravkärl på Gotland / The mystery of the ceramic vessels : a study regarding the Pitted Ware culture’s grave vessels on island of Gotland

Amlé, Anton January 2013 (has links)
In this paper I will discuss the occurrence of ceramic vessels in the graves of the Pitted ware culture on the island of Gotland, Sweden. I will focus on four sites and compare these sites, with hopes of finding some similarities or interesting differences. The sites are Ajvide in Eksta parish, Visby in Visby parish, Västerbjers in Gothem parish and Fridtorp in Västerhejde parish. The idea is to look at the grave goods, with focus on the ceramic vessels, or at least, the bottoms of the vessels, where one can clearly see that it's been deposited in the grave. I will try to analyze the vessels (shape and in some cases height), look where in the grave they've been placed, how many graves contain vessels, who's been given these vessels and if the vessels have filled a certain purpose once they've been deposited in the graves. / Neolitiska Livsstilar

Genus & jakt : Ett funktionalistiskt genusperspektiv på gropkeramiska gravgåvor i Ajvide & Västerbjers

Olsson Romanus, Elmer January 2023 (has links)
This essay tries to deduct whether the pitted ware culture (3200-2300) at Ajvide and Västerbjers had a gender structure based on big game hunting via grave furniture. The grave furniture is selected on the basis of big game affiliation and then subjected to descriptive statistics and correspondence analysis. The results suggest that seal and boar hunting is normative for men but that only seal is normative for women in Ajvide and only boar at Västerbjers. /
Denna uppsats tilldelades ett A i betyg.

En gropkeramisk rundtur på Gotland : GIS-analyser av gropkeramiska lokaler på Gotland och osteologiska bedömningar av resursutnyttjande / A Pitted Ware round-trip on Gotland : GIS-analyses of Pitted Ware Culture sites on Gotland and osteological assessments of resource utilisation

Eriksson, Albin January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this master thesis is to expand on the understanding of the resource utilisation on the 19 Gotlandic Pitted Ware Culture sites: Ajvide, Alvena, Fridtorp, Grausne, Gullrum,Gumbalde, Hau, Hemmor, Hoburgen, Ire, Kinner/Tjauls, Rangvide, Barshalder, Stenstugu,Stora Förvar, Sudergårds II, Visby, Västerbjers and Västerbys. The study utilises theoretical frameworks such as Site Catchment Analysis, Site Territorial Analysis and Optimal ForagingTheory and is based on two main questions: Which animals did the diet on each site consist of? And are there any apparent connections between diet and topography/environment? To answer these questions, osteological records have been studied to get an idea of the animal food resources utilised on each site. ArcGIS has also been used to create height- and soil maps with contemporary shorelines which show how the sites were located in the middle Neolithic Gotlandic landscape. The study has shown that most sites appear to have included a variety of animals like pig/boar, cattle, sheep/goat, fish, seal, porpoise and birds in their diet. The sites with the lowest number of confirmed animals also tend to have undergone the least archaeological investigation, suggesting that further excavations on these sites might unearth more animal species. Additional discoveries show a small albeit noticeable emphasis on marine animal resources, especially porpoise, on southern sites. Sites located in areas mostly consisting of sandy, meager soils also show an increased marine resource utilisation. This might suggest that the area around these sites were somewhat barren and lacking in terrestrial prey animals.
