METHOD: We developed a longitudinal study. Weight, height, waist circumference and body fat percentage (by vertical electrical bio-impedance) were checked. Body Mass Index (BMI) was calculated based on these data. World Health Organization (2007) cut-off points were used to determine nutritional state. Height, weight and BMI Z-Scores were calculated, as well as conicity index (CI) and relationship between waist circumference and height (WC/HEIGHT). RESULTS: Eutrophy was the most prevailing state (?60%). During the winter school holidays there was a statistically significant increase in weight of the study population (p = 0.006, 0.34ZE in July to 0.38ZE in August), verified by the Z-score of weight and BMI Z-score (p <0.001; 0.51ZE in July to 0.57 ZE in August). The attitude was different weight between normal and overweight adolescents. In the first group was statistically significant weight gain during the July holidays (p <0.001; of -0.16 ZE to -0.11 ZE in July in August), and weight reduction during the second semester of school in 2009 (p = 0043; -0.14 ZE to -0.17ZE in August to December, for the weight). As for those with excess weight (overweight and obesity), the reduction in BMI was statistically significant in the two academic periods (p <0.001; 1.80ZE to in February to 1.72 ZE in June. P <0.001; 1.80ZE in August to 1.71 ZE in December). As the percentage of body fat (% BF) was statistically higher in females, regardless of nutritional status (normal weight: p <0.001, male: 17.25%, female: 20.61%. Overweight: p <0.001; Male: 28.62%, female: 34.08%). Among the indices studied, only CC/age and CC/ALT showed greater concentration of fat in the central region, especially in boys. CONCLUSIONS: Vacations period is a major collaborator for adolescents weight gain, especially for those between 10 and 12.99 years old. School period plays an important role in weight gain reduction, mainly among adolescents presenting overweight and obesity. Male adolescents presented a higher body fat amount on central region, while female adolescents showed body fat proportionally distributed within total body mass. And due to its convenience, WC shall be used, together with BMI, for body fat location diagnosis / Mestrado / Saude da Criança e do Adolescente / Mestre em Saude da Criança e do Adolescente

Evaluating the Relative Importance of Influencing Factors on Cruise Vacations: A Conjoint AnalysisBahja, Frida 22 March 2017 (has links)
This study focuses on exploring the relative importance of six influential factors in cruise customers’ decision-making process such as: cruise vacation price, cruise duration, distance from the cruise port, itineraries, environmental friendliness of cruise line and cruise online reviews. The decision on which influencing factors to select was made based on the review of literature.
The complexity of cruise customers’ decision-making process for these six attributes with several levels was examined with Choice-Based Conjoint (CBC) Analysis. CBC was selected due to its realistic approach to purchase decisions, in the form of trade-offs. The online survey collected data anonymously. The survey was distributed through Amazon Mechanical Turk (Mturk) platform. Only 450 cruise customers, who had experienced a cruise vacation before were eligible to participate in the study.
The purpose of the study was to discover the relative importance of the influencing factors to gain more insights about cruise customers. The findings of the study showed that online reviews were the most influential attribute for cruise customers in their cruise decision, followed very closely by the environmental friendliness of the cruise line. The next influential factor was the duration of the cruise vacation which was followed by distance from the cruise port, cruise itinerary and cruise vacation price. The best and the worst cruise vacation profile were generated from CBC analysis. The findings of this study provide some insights with regard to cruise customers’ importance about influencing factors when deciding on a cruise vacation.

Nowadays, the tendency of traveling more is strongly increasing. There are more people choosing to explore new places in and out of the country. However, there are certain travel restrictions that can be cumbersome to fully understand and fulfill, or the forgetting of essential things, which can generate bad moments in the travel experience. Personal hygiene products are one of the categories that people forget the most. Buying them and adapting them to travel size can be expensive, not only in money, but also in time, since it is complicated to find all these things in one place at an adequate price. Therefore, an alternative solution to this problem is proposed, which consists of selling travel kits fully equipped with all the necessary personal hygiene supplies in the size according to the regulations, in the main terrestrial and air terminals. / Trabajo de investigación

Perceptions of Family Vacation and Family Cohesion and the Moderating Effects of Parenting StyleKruenegel-Farr, Debbie S. 05 1900 (has links)
Family cohesion, or emotional bonding, is important to family functioning. Shared activities such as family vacations offer opportunities for strengthening the family unit which can improve cohesion. Additionally, parenting style has direct influence on the family unit and family cohesion. This study’s purpose was to assess to what extent the perception of the family vacation experience predicted the perception of family cohesion and whether that relationship was moderated by parenting style. An online survey was conducted, resulting in 97 adult participants responding to items regarding their last family vacation, family cohesion, and parenting style. Using hierarchical multiple regression, a medium effect size was found for the predictive ability of a participant’s perception of their last family vacation on family cohesion. Findings also indicated a negative correlation between an authoritarian parenting style and perception of family cohesion, but a positive relationship between the interaction of family vacation experience and authoritarian parenting to family cohesion. Stronger predictive abilities were found for those with children in the 3-11 age group. Results may encourage parent and family educators to use family vacation as a tool in assisting families with the processes of building strong and cohesive families.

During the 1930s, Sweden went through several societal crisises. There was a labor market crisis and a population crisis that were also covered by a gender conflict. To address these crises, reforms were introduced around women in society. There was a great deal of political discussion about whether women should be able to live their lives as housewives, which led to the idea of housewives' holidays and holiday homes for working women. What was the political significance of the holiday home? Why did it come to an end in 1977? What remains of the legacy from Vadtorp? For whom and why was Vadtorp preserved? How can one interpret the association in relation to the gender system? Archive material has been used to be able to answer the survey. By closely reading the material and drawing connections to secondary sources, one has been able to answer these questions. The survey shows how the holiday home in Vadtorp should have had a political impact as the holiday home should have been one of the first holiday homes for working women. The woman became more equal to the man and Vadtorp was discontinued. It is possible to interpret how there was an underlying ideological idea in the dissolution of the holiday home.

THE UNDULATING SUMMER HOUSELuckhurst, Julian January 2022 (has links)
This thesis project has been an investigation of the summer house phenomena, both from an historical point of view - the background and history of summer houses - looking at the emergence of the culture, their architectural programmatic experience, how they’ve change over time, as well as looking into specific reference projects, both for inspiration and clarity - some older houses, and others that are more modern. In addition to the research, and as the main part of the thesis project I have aimed to design a new small summer house of my own, to be placed on the small island in Mälaren where my family's current house is situated and where I have grown up, by using the knowledge I’ve gathered and the inspiration I have come across in order to create a project different from the one that is there today.

Examining the Effects of Bundling Strategies on Travelers' Value Perception and Purchase Intention of a Vacation PackageXu, Yueying 19 June 2009 (has links)
The offer of vacation packages is a marketing tool called bundling, selling at least two separate products at one single price (Guiltinan, 1987). Sellers adopt bundling strategies in order to sell more at lower costs, to contract consumer surplus, and to create value for consumers. Consumers purchase a package based on the trade-off between the perceived benefits and costs involved in purchasing the package compared to assembling different products/service. In other words, the perceived value of the package is the reason for consumers to purchase a package or not.
The study serves two purposes. One is to examine the dimensionality of perceived value as a construct, in the pre-purchase stage. The other is to investigate the relationships between bundling strategies and perceived value, and perceived value and purchase intention of a vacation package. Bundling strategies taken by sellers include how many items to put in a package and what price discount for the package compared to the sum of all separate products. The findings of the study show that perceived value in service setting is composed of perceived acquisition value and perceived functional value, instead of perceived acquisition value and perceived transaction value proposed by scholars such as Thaler (1985) and Grewal et al. (1998). This is one of the theoretical contributions by the study. Another contribution of the study is the exploratory examination of the interaction effect between pricing strategies and product strategies for a bundle. The study provides evidence that bundles without a discount are perceived as having very low value and consumers expect a discount, large or small, from buying a bundle. And the larger the number of products in a package, the larger the discount size consumers expect to get. / Ph. D.

Covid-19 och påverkan på fastighetsmarknaden : En undersökning av transaktionsmönster för fritidshus innan respektive under pandemin / Covid-19 and Effect on the Real Estate Market : A Study of Transaction Patterns for Vacation Homes Before and During the PandemicThorfinn, Axel, Sonnelid, Love January 2022 (has links)
Sweden and the rest of the world have under recent years been, and are still to this day, affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic has affected everyday life and our approach to society as a direct consequence of the implementation of various shutdowns, laws and guidelines. Work, study and other occupations have therefore been digitally arranged, which gave the residence a more prominent role in everyday life, something that also applies to secondary residences, in terms of vacation homes. The purpose of this study aims to answer how the pandemic has affected the transaction pattern for vacation homes on the Swedish property market. To proceed and enable this has data regarding the pandemic and transaction history been gathered. Furthermore were 10 counties selected by using a unique, point based system to ensure that these counties were the most representative counties for recreational purposes in all of Sweden. These 10 counties in question were subsequently studied, in regards to their transaction data, and compared to the pandemic data on a national, respectively, international level. The result of the study indicates a noticeably increased number of transactions throughout the course of the pandemic. The underlying causes for this increase are however harder to precise. The study contributes to concretize the actual effect of the pandemic on the Swedish property market, and more precisely, the transaction pattern of Swedish vacation homes.
