''Jag lever i ett förhållande där min kvinna slår mig'' : en kvalitativ studie om kvinnors våld mot män i nära relationer / ’’I live in a relationship where my wife beats me’’ : a qualitative study of women’s violence against men in intimate relationshipsVeselinovic, Jelena January 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of women's violence against men in intimate relationships, get an idea of what forms of expression that this type of violence has and to highlight the men's experiences of violence. There is little scientific research in the field in Sweden. Crime Prevention Council has determined that eight percent of all complaints involving domestic violence in 2010, reported by men over 18 years. You can only speculate on how large number of unreported cases is among abused men. The international studies highlight that the abused men feel ashamed of having been subjected to violence by a female partner. I have been based this essay on two theoretical premises, Per Isdal theory of "violence perspective" and Elaine Bergqvist's definition of the suppression technique. The study was conducted through a qualitative content analysis. This type of method used to interpret the various texts, and to this study, three autobiographies was analyzed. The results from the survey highlights that all men have been subjected to extensive financial, material, latent and psychological violence. Two men have been subjected to regular physical violence and one of the men has been the victim of sexual violence. The discussion highlighted that violence against men in intimate relationships is undetectable and taboo and that the phenomenon must be recognized and made more visible. The conclusion of this study was that the abused men feel ashamed to seek help but that is also exists lack of adequate help and support to give to men which has been abused.

The aim of the study is to investigate how social workers within the Social Services and staffat sheltered accommodation perceive the access to and the design of protection efforts forabused women with an addiction problem. Also to investigate how they perceive this group'sopportunities for protection work in relation to abused women without an addiction problem. The study is based on a qualitative method where the theoretical concepts of stigma, professional discretion and the ideal offer are used to analyze the results. The conclusions arethat the work with women exposed to violence is described as particularly complex as boththe exposure to violence and the abuse must be taken into account. An obstacle in workingwith the group is the stigma that contributes to many women not wanting to seek help.Access to sheltered accommodation is limited for the women. Both the availability and thedesign of sheltered accommodation must be improved to meet the needs. The conclusions areconsidered to be able to give an insight into the vulnerable that exists in abused women withaddiction problems and contribute with suggestions for development opportunities in thework with the women within the social work sector.

Woman killing : intimate femicide in Saskatchewan 1988-1992Farden, Deborah 14 April 2008
The term femicide was used to refer to the murder of women. Intimate femicide referred to the murder of women by men with whom they had an intimate love relationship. The purpose of this research was to make visible the intimate and domestic nature of femicide by describing all femicides in Saskatchewan between 1988 and 1992 inclusive. A second purpose of this research was to learn about prevention both from committed femicides and from two women who had survived an attempted intimate femicide. This research was feminist in nature and utilized elements of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Data were gathered on all women known to be murdered between 1988 and 1992 from sources such as newspaper searches, coroners' reports, and police files. Based on these data, femicides were classified as intimate or non-intimate femicides and as possibly preventable or not preventable within the femicidal incident itself. Further data were gathered from interviews with two women who had survived an attempted intimate femicidal attack. Both sets of data were then reviewed and themes relating to the prevention of femicide were elicited. These themes focussed on failures of the communities in which these women resided or were murdered, failures of the medical community to correctly identify femicidal men, failures of the judicial system in their dealings with femicidal men, failures of the organized church, and failures of the institution of the family. Ten femicides were classified as possibly preventable within the femicidal assault itself. In addition, the interviews with both survivors identified many areas of possible intervention relating to prevention over a longer period of time. The study concludes with my reflections on the process of engaging in research on femicide, discussions about areas for further research and the identification of possible implications for public policy.

"We are not machines" : A qualitative study about social worker’s emotions and emotional work in regards to the work with women who are subject to men’s violence in intimate relationships.Rydén, Frida, Josefsson, Klara January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this study is to, from a profession’s perspective, inquire into emotions and emotional labor for social workers who work with women who are subjected to men’s violence in intimate relationships. Through this we have developed knowledge concerning the work conditions for social workers working with violence in intimate relationships. This study is based on interviews with six social workers in one municipality by a semi-structured method. By the material we got from interviewing we did an analysis of this together with previous studies and also by two theoretical frameworks; Emotional labor by Hochschild and Coping strategies by Lazarus and Folkman. The analysis proves that social workers who work with women who are subjected to men’s violence in intimate relationships get emotionally affected by the work and need to handle these different kinds of emotions with several strategies. The analysis also proves that emotional labor and using coping strategies is one of the social workers daily work tasks. Emotions, emotional labor, and coping strategies therefore influence the prerequisites as a whole within social work as a profession as these work assignments many times come as both invisible, non-qualifying and also, even at times, without paid salary.

Eftervåld i Sverige : En narrativ studie av kvinnors upplevelser och myndighetsbemötande i svensk kontext / Post-seperation abuse in Sweden : A narrative study of women's experiences and treatment by authorities in a Swedish contextKurki, Agnes January 2024 (has links)
This study aims to enhance understanding of the experiences of women subjected to post-separation violence in their interactions with authorities. Employing a narrative analysis grounded in feminist theory, five autobiographies storys published between 2005 and 2020 were explored. A thematic analysis strategy was applied to identify and analyze patterns and themes within the women's narratives. The findings show that sometimes women feel the support they receive is not enough. It's crucial for authorities, especially social services and the judiciary, to consider the study's findings to improve the support they offer. The study also points out that post-separation violence is known in Sweden but lacks specific research on its dynamics. I suggests more research into how social services can handle post-separation violence, given the uncertainty women in the study felt about the support they received. To conclude, future research should compare this study's findings with how women perceive support after the introduction of child contact centers in Swedish law. This could maybe improve the support provided by authorities to women who have experienced post-separation violence.

ETT FÖNSTER AV MÖJLIGHETER : SOCIALTJÄNSTENS ARBETE FÖR ATT STÄRKA VÅLDSUTSATTA BARNS RÄTT TILL SÄKERHETFernando, Tatiana, Zangana, Camilla, Wirén, Hanna January 2024 (has links)
On April 1, 2024, the new proposition 2023/24:31 of the government came into effect, aiming to strengthen the rights of children and adults in sheltered housing. This qualitative study examines how social services in Skåne have worked with the reform of sheltered housing for children. The goal of this study is to contribute new criminological knowledge within the research field. Additionally, the study aims to analyze changes in how social services view children exposed to violence as legal subjects. The study also seeks to highlight the measures and strategies developed during the preparation process. This is done by investigating how the Social Services Acts have changed from before to after the reform. This change is contextualized by examining the state of sheltered housing before the reform came into effect. The research questions are addressed through semi-structured interviews with nine respondents from social services who have direct experience working with the reform. The study is conducted based on implementation theory and previous research. The results identified four main themes which are adaptation and coordination of resources, the time aspect in applying the reform for children and the vulnerable, strengthening children's rights within the framework of sheltered housing, and individualized assessment of children's needs. The results show that municipalities have prepared for the new law by developing routines and checklists, which guide them through decisions regarding sheltered housing for children. Following the implementation of the reform, the child's status as a legal subject is strengthened through an individual assessment and the assignment of a dedicated social worker. This leads to an enhanced sense of safety and security for the child. The study suggests a future evaluation of the reform to analyze how it has evolved over time. Such an evaluation could provide insights into how the legal changes are being implemented by social service professionals.

To meet the silenced voice : A literature review that highlights nurses' experiences of meeting women exposed to intimate partner violenceDrysén, Matilda, Johansson, Amanda January 2023 (has links)
Intimate partner violence is a multifaceted concept that includes different aspects of a person's vulnerability. Women exposed to intimate partner violence where the man is the perpetrator is a common phenomenon in society. Every third woman is at some point in her life exposed to intimate partner violence, and many women seek treatment for their exposure to violence. However, few women mention that violence is the underlying cause of problems, symptoms and feelings. Nurses meet women seeking care regardless of their workplace, therefore it is part of the nurses' profession to ask the question of exposure to violence and talk to, support and refer the women depending on their needs and wishes. The purpose of the literature review was to highlight how nurses experience meeting women who are exposed to violence in close relationships. The method consisted of a literature review based on ten empirical journal articles that were quality reviewed and analyzed by the authors, nine qualitative and one quantitative. The analysis generated four categories; The conditions of the workplace create a framework for the meeting, A need to protect oneself from vulnerability, To take over part of the women's burden and A professional challenge and nine subcategories. With support from the results, factors are discussed that contribute to a direct impact on the meeting with the women exposed to violence in a close relationship. The nurses experienced setbacks in the form of lack of time, lack of knowledge, preconceived notions and inner conflicts with emotional reactions such as sadness, frustration and despair. These factors combined to make the identification of intimate partner violence not carried out by the nurses. It is considered important for the nurses to receive increased training in intimate partner violence in order to offer the women adequate care.
