: incentives to encourage visits and their impact on the audience of young adults in Museums of France

Nouvellon, Maylis 24 April 2018 (has links)
The museum of the 21st century is characterized as an "inclusive and collaborative" space that integrates the voice of the public into the construction of its speech. It is based on a qualitative meaning of the project of cultural democratization as "democratization of a social relationship". We are interested in incentives to encourage young adult audience visits: free entry for under-26s in national museums and a set of events dedicated to young adults. Together these measures offer to discover the museum differently and participate in this qualitative meaning of cultural democratization. How do these public museum policies support the audiences’ renewal for these places? The social structuring of the public is the first key to analysing the effects of democratization. To study it, we support both the national surveys designed by the Ministry of Culture to measure the performance of national heritage institutions (2012 and 2015 editions surveyed all visitors and editions 2009 and 2014 surveyed those who benefit from free entry) and two surveys (quantitative and qualitative) which evaluated events for young adults. A second key integrates the understanding of cultural trajectories and the diversity of the factors that shape them, as well as a reading of individual range of cultural practices as a world of taste (biographical interview survey). By highlighting the role of public policies, this research proposes a dynamic model of understanding cultural practices to analyse the construction of museum audiences. In this perspective we place ourselves at the scale of the "lived culture" and two main elements hold our attention. One sees the museum as a platform of resources, that is to say, as one of the potential supports for the expression of tastes, and assumes that public policies support and nourish the cultural world of individuals. The other takes into account the processes by which individuals become visitors and the ability of public policies to consolidate these cultural dynamics, such as incentives to turn visitors into museum ambassadors. Therefore, this research aims to reassess the public policies of cultural democratization

Given the involvement of science in our daily life, science communication plays a crucial role in the conquest of citizenship, being also an important tool in the process of free-choice learning. Museums and science centers have been a traditional media for public understanding of science. In order to strengthen its activities in this area, these institutions are increasingly turning to the new Information and Communication Technologies. They have been also evaluating the impact of their virtual presence To draw a profile of the public of the Invivo - Museum of the Life’s virtual museum - an exploratory research was developed, using three methods of investigation: log analysis, page-tagging and on-line survey. A historical survey of the visitation recorded an increase of 340% in the number of unique visitors and 295% in the number of page views, between 2005 and 2008. These data demonstrate the expressive growth of the site, when compared with the official statistics, which shows that, between 2005 and 2007, there were an increase of 28% of Brazilians who had accessed the Internet at least once and 41% of those who were frequent Internet users. The analysis demonstrates that visitation grows at the beginning of classes and falls during the school holidays. It also shows busy working days and quiet weekends. Both patterns were found in other studies on museums. Peak visitation occurs in the afternoon hours, which suggests a concentration of students from junior high (from 11/12 years)and high schools. The importance of students and people involved in educational process in the visitation of Invivo is also proven by the high rate of page views of content more related to national curriculum standards. Answered spontaneously by 209 visitors, the online survey collected data on demographics, motivations. It also provided an evaluation of the site. The virtual visitors are mainly women (77.9%), mostly adult and college educated. Their favorite cultural activities were reading (79,9%) and Internet navigation (77%). This points to a culturally privileged group with different habits and profile of the Brazilian population. The site was approved by 91% of the respondents. The language and educational content were items that received positive evaluation. Participants are interested in more educational material, experiences, games, health prevention, cutting-edge S&T, environment, natural phenomena and controversies and risks of science. Users suggested, also, greater interactivity, with the encouragement of dialogue and the promotion of debate, and more resources, such as bigger images, graphics and video.

Building a decision support system to predict the number of visitors to an amusement park : Using an Artificial Neural Network and Statistical Analysis

Johansson, Benjamin, Almqvist, Elias January 2018 (has links)
In this thesis, we develop a decision support system for the amusement park Skara Sommarland. The aim is to predict how many visitors will come to the park in order to help the management allocate the correct amount of personnel on any given day. In order to achieve this, the widely used CRoss-Industry Standard for Data Mining framework was applied to finally build a multiple linear regression (MLR) function and an artificial neural network (ANN) model. The data used to develop the models were Skara Sommarland’s historical business data and historical weather data for the surrounding area. Additionally, a fully functional web application was built which allowed the management at Skara Sommarland to use the predictions in their daily operations. The ANN outperformed the MLR and managed to achieve about 80% accuracy in predicting the number of visitors, reaching the initial data mining goal set by the project group. The conclusion formed by this thesis is that an ANN can be used to predict the number of visitors to an amusement park similar to Skara Sommarland. The final IT artifact produced can realistically help improve an amusement park’s operations by avoiding over- and under-staffing.

Studies of reproductive biology are essential for the conservation and management of plant species, once the reproductive period is a time of great importance for the population dynamics and species survival. This dissertation had as objective to contribute to uderstanding floral morphology, floral and reproductive biology of Butia odorata (Barb. Rodr.) Noblick. Also, to identify the pollinators and their relationship with the flowers. The study was conducted in two Countries, Uruguay (La Paloma, Rocha Department) and Brazil (Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul State). Stages of flowering, and male and female anthesis were identified. The number of male and female flowers per rachille in the inflorescence, and the ratio between male and female flowers were estimated. The coloring of rachilles and flowers was verified. The morphology and morphometry of flowers were characterized. Orders of insects that visited the inflorescences, the relationship of insects with flowers, the collected floral resources and the period of visitation during the stages of flowering were identified. Flowers of Butia odorata are unisexual, hypogynous, actinomorphic, dichlamydeous and sessile. The male and female flowers occur on the same inflorescence and have different formats, being the male more numerous than the female. The male flowers are arranged throughout the rachille, with higher concentration from the middle to the apex. The female flowers are found from the middle to the base of rachille, forming triads with two male flowers. There is genetic variability for color and size of rachilles and for color of flowers on inflorescences of B. odorata. The species has mechanisms of protandry. A great diversity of insects' species, belonging to the Hymenoptera, Coleoptera and Diptera orders visit the inflorescences. During male anthesis, the Hymenoptera and Coleoptera orders are more frequent, whereas during female anthesis the Hymenoptera order stands. The insects are attracted by the resources such as pollen and nectar provided by the flowers. The understanding of the reproductive biology, presented in two chapters of this dissertation, serves as the foundation for the preservation of butiá, because this knowledge is of great importance to devise strategies for the conservation and use of genetic resources and breeding programs.

Kirchenbauten als touristische Attraktionen: Werte und Zahlungsbereitschaften im Kirchentourismus

Behrens, Jan 27 May 2014 (has links)
