Vad motiverar människor att besöka musikfestivaler? : En kvantitativ studie kring besökares interna motivation

Ferizi, Edona, Sestic, Elvisa January 2019 (has links)
The main goal of this study is to examine customers’ internal motivation and to investigate how motivational factors affects re-visits within music festivals. The study focuses on a customer perspective and has a quantitative approach. In order to obtain empirical data, the study has conducted a survey with 157 participants from ages of 18- 64. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to generate the empirical data and was computed into Linear regression, Cronbach’s alpha and Mean values. Results showed that entertainment and novelty were positive towards return visitation. Socialization and excitement turned out to be two factors that motivated visitors internally but had no significant effect on their decision to make a return visitation.

Scoping the dimensions of visitor well-being : a case study of Scotland's Forth Valley

Walker, Linda January 2007 (has links)
The well-being of tourists or visitors within a destination has, until recently, received little attention. Issues relating to the personal safety and health of the travelling public have been highlighted by a number of high profile incidents of terrorist attacks, large scale natural disasters and life threatening epidemics. While such events are devastating in nature and of great concern, for the majority of travellers, health and personal safety are more likely to be impacted on by illness, being involved in an accident or becoming the victim of crime. This thesis contributes to our existing understanding of how tourism can be affected by incidents by selecting a definable geographical area and investigating the available data from official sources to examine the dimensions, scale and nature of visitor-related incidents of crime, road traffic accidents and emergency health care. This audit was undertaken through collaborative research with the Central Scotland Police Force, the Central Scotland Road Accident Investigation Unit and the National Health Service Forth Valley. Primary research was then undertaken with visitors to the area. This in-depth approach looks beyond existing statistics to probe factors contributing to visitor-related incidents, in relation to existing tourism literature. The results indicate that, visitors experience incidents that differ in nature and type from those experienced by local residents, and the times and places they were most at risk also varied. With visitors accounting for less than 10% of the total population, these differences are not apparent in the overall patterns and, therefore, the particular needs of visitors are unlikely to be met through existing measures. This research has the ability to form the basis of improved measures to benefit visitor health and personal safety even though the nature of the visiting population presents challenges in relation to when, where and how such preventative measures are introduced. Visitors are not homogenous and distinct groupings based on perceptions, attitudes and behaviours were found. Therefore, there is a requirement to examine how incidents impact on visitors by distinguishing them from the overall incident figures, but measures to protect visitors also have to be tailored to take cognisance of typologies of visitors.

Greater Than the Sum of Its Parts: An Exploration of Family Home Visiting Programs Involving both Volunteer and Paid Visitors

Donovan, Maura Katherine 25 November 2011 (has links)
The goal of this international study was to gain insight into a little-known approach to family home visiting: programs that make use of both volunteer and paid visitors. Using a qualitative embedded multiple case study design, I interviewed volunteers and staff at three such programs regarding the development of the service, and the strengths and challenges of this approach. Key findings suggest that this approach allows programs to provide preventative, universally available services; and to serve a greater number and broader range of families. These were important features given the local targeted, reactive service delivery systems. Common challenges included funding difficulties and some limited communication and workload issues. This approach shows promise as a way to increase program accessibility and impact. Considerations for program planners include the costs of qualified staff to coordinate volunteers and do home visiting, and organizational readiness to deploy volunteers effectively in home visiting roles. / A preliminary exploratory study of three family home visiting programs involving volunteer and paid home visitors.

Practitioner perceptions of the effectiveness of dramatized interpretaton

Adcock, Lynne Therese January 2005 (has links)
Interpretation has the potential to play an important role in involving the general public in the dialogue about sustainability, and what this may mean for the future of humans on the earth. Yet interpreters often fail to address this issue. In fact, it can be argued that much interpretation fails to truly engage its audiences or provoke serious thought about our relationship with the rest of nature or our future lifestyles. How can interpretation be made more engaging and provocative, and contribute to the dialogue about sustainability? How can it reach this potential? Some educators and interpreters advocate the use of drama to help people connect with natural and cultural heritage. Powerful dramatic experiences can become embedded in the emotions and leave enduring impressions. Drama is used as an educational tool around the world. Can it be used by interpreters to expand visitors’ conceptions of the human-nature culture milieu? This study addresses the paucity of empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of dramatized interpretation. Ten practitioners of dramatized interpretation were interviewed to explore the current use of drama in interpretation in Queensland, Australia, and in particular, the practitioners’ perceptions of these practices and their effectiveness. Current practice was evaluated according to the drama, interpretation and education literature, particularly recent theoretical developments. Practitioners displayed a strong understanding of the importance of engagement in interpretation, using a variety of drama forms and strategies to create resonant experiences and strengthen visitors’ connections with natural, historic and cultural heritage. In addition, they designed their programs to provoke thought and foster deep understanding of environmental and conservation issues, and obtained evidence of provocation and conceptual enhancement. Notwithstanding this, it is concluded that dramatized interpretation could have a greater impact on conceptual enhancement if practitioners designed their programs according to constructivist, group learning and sociocultural perspectives. Practitioners could also make a greater contribution to general environmental education if they explicitly addressed the issue of sustainability, using drama to tell stories that encapsulate the concept of sustainability and provide a vision of sustainable living. A checklist is provided to assist practitioners in the design and evaluation of dramatized programs. Recommendations are also given for interpreters wishing to explore the application of drama to their interpretive setting.

Στατήρη, Ηράκλεια 14 February 2012 (has links)
Tourism is a peculiar phenomenon due to the temporary transitional situation of visitors, which are the ones who make tourism to exist. Tourism has various effects, and because of its size, tourism impacts are now significant. Of particular interest are the economic impacts of tourism, especially in economies that host visitors. In this project, after developing the necessary theoritical background, it is develop a methodological model for the most possible direct and accurate assessment of these economic impacts. The proposed model makes use of statistical data already collected by the relevant authorities, what minimizes the cost.

Indicadores da qualidade da experiência do visitante no Parque Estadual da Ilha Anchieta. / Indicators and standards for visitors at Ilha Anchieta State Park.

Silvia Yochie Kataoka 24 November 2004 (has links)
Understanding the connection between visitors and wild areas by means of this research we can better manage the public usage of protected areas. Once we profile the visitors we can identify how many, where, when and how they can best benefit from this wild areas. This type of information can help policymakers and researchers to understanding the visitor behavior as well as potential problems and solutions for ecological impact and damage caused by the visitors. The diversification of recreational activities and the development of Adventure Tourism helped increase the visitation of wild areas becoming even more important the accuracy of the evaluation methods, indicators and standards to measure social impact caused by the interaction visitor-wild area. Several literatures about “indicators and standards” are now available mostly written by American researches, these methods are being applied to Brazilian wild areas. However these ‘indicators and standards’ may not be so efficient for Brazilian values due to standards determined by entities like IBAMA (environmental protection agency of Brazil, stands for Brazilian Institute of the environment and renewable natural resources). The key when choosing the indicators is focused on Ecological assessment issue. When comparing human experience related to recreational activities and environmental education become very hard to have quality standard value. It is not clear what is the social purpose of the Brazilian protected wild areas therefore the visitor values are generically evaluated starting from the commodities available in the area showing more interest on commercial aspects open opportunities to privatization. We selected Ilha Anchieta State Park because the ‘island’ condition generates a conflicting perception: beach landscape create an image of social integration atmosphere in the other hand an island can give a perception of an isolated primitive environment. These set of characteristics and some other particulars required to visit this island make this local the right place to study visitors expectation and experience in protected wild areas. For a quality evaluation on visitor experience at the Park we interview them focusing in a data analyses based on quantity-quality information. The information gathered from visitors like their motivations, expectations, desires, impressions collected from the local and others allow us to identify eleven social impact indicators from public usage that can be used in future evaluations on this site.

The objectives of this study were to investigate the use of these resources in the activity, the conception of these participants on such use and contributions to the Teaching of Chemistry. The research subjects were museum visitors students and data collection was done through a questionnaire answered at the end of the visits. The data indicated the participation of students from public, private and SESI system during the period of analysis. It was observed that the computer is materialized as a cultural tool and is used by visitors during GTIQ to perform the action for resolution of the proposed activity. Also making use of the internet to search for information, visitors indicated appropriate of this resource as a mediator of the action. So we can suggest that the use of technological resources changes the relationship of the students with the chemical contents, since they showed more interested when using equipment to which they have affinity (cellular and computers). Another important factor to be noted is that the use of ICT makes the search for information more dynamic, which, in the view of visitors, facilitated research and become more motivating. ICTs used during GTIQ played motivational role, arousing the interest of visitors by subjects and drawing attention to the same themes. ICTs being used in a investigative approach encouraged the active participation of visitors. Technological resources used during the activities of the Gymkhana had their potential exploited, helping assisting visitors in the problems solving presented and stimulating the use of the Internet as a learning environment.

Museibutikens förutsättningar : Policy och praktik bland museibutiker i Stockholm / The Conditions and Premises of the Museum Store : How Museum Stores in Stockholm are Governed

Jansson, Lisa January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this master’s thesis was to investigate how museum stores are governed, with a focus on museum stores situated in museums in Stockholm and on museums stores which are part of a government agency. The purpose was also to investigate the relationship between the museum and the consumption in the museum store in general.  The thesis shows that museum stores which are part of a government agency are governed by their appropriation directions, including the direction that the museum stores must be fully financed. However, the museum stores are also influenced by guidelines that have not been written down, expectations from the museum and from museum patrons. Other factors not within the control of the museum were also of importance, and could limit the choices available for the museum store managers as well as be a source of inspiration. The result also shows that the museum store and the consumption it’s associated with, is seen as either a threat, a necessity or a possibility: The museum store is often viewed as being at odds with the main role of museums in general, while also being considered a necessity, helping the museum to meet the patron’s expectations. In some cases the museum could benefit from the museum store, due to the stores’ possibility of improving upon the museum visit, or making a profit usable in other museum activities. The source material was gathered from the websites of international and national organisations within the museum field. Material was also gathered during interviews with museum store managers in Stockholm. The theory used was cultural economics and consumption studies. The method for this essay was interviews, minor field studies, linguistic analysis. The focus of this essay was how the museum store is governed. The essay does not, for example, research how the museum visitors or museum patrons experienced the shop. This is a two years master’s thesis in Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies
