Skapandet av Vi och Dom : Identitetskonstruktioner inom EU:smigrationsdiskurs 2011-2016

Andersson, Sandra, Graad, Stina January 2016 (has links)

Serotonin antagonism in primate experimental myocardial infarction

Hartford, Craig Gordon 07 October 1992 (has links)
A Dissertation submitted to the Faculty of Medicine, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, for the Degree of Master of Science. / Serotonin (5-Hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) mediates vasoconstriction and vasodilation in the normal coronary circulation of various animal species. In the presence of coronary artery disease serotonin may inhibit coronary collateral formation and stimulate predominantly vasoconstriction. This study tested the effect of ketanserin, a selective 5-HT2 receptor antagonist and platelet aggregation inhibitor, on ischaemic myocardium blood flow and coronary collateral formation following coronary artery occlusion in primates. / IT2018

Interactions of glyphosate and dicamba in controlling key weed species

Huff, Jonathan Andrew 01 May 2010 (has links)
Interest and research on herbicide-resistant cropping systems has increased dramatically since the introduction of glyphosate-resistant crops in 1996. New advances in herbicide-resistant cropping systems, such as dicambaresistant soybean and cotton, provide opportunities to help alleviate selection pressure currently applied by glyphosate-only systems. While there is no doubt dicamba-resistant genetics will have a huge impact on production practice, there are questions that must be answered about possible interactions with dicamba and glyphosate tank mixtures. The primary objectives of this research were to evaluate the effect of glyphosate/dicamba combinations on common Mississippi weed species, as well as determine effects of these combinations on absorption and translocation of dicamba. Four monocots: johnsongrass, barnyardgrass, large crabgrass, and broadleaf signalgrass; and four dicots: sicklepod, hemp sesbania, prickly sida, and pitted morningglory, were chosen to represent troublesome weed species. Plants were sprayed at the 4±1 leaf stage with glyphosate, dicamba, and combinations of the two herbicides. Rates were chosen with the goal of achieving 40 to 70% control in order to determine synergistic/antagonistic responses. Antagonism was observed in each species tested. Increasing rates of both herbicides alleviated the antagonism in most weeds. A synergistic response was observed in all graminaceous species and pitted morningglory when herbicide rates increased. Barnyardgrass and sicklepod were selected to quantify absorption and translocation of 14C-dicamba in order to account for interactions observed from tank-mix combinations. Rates for dicamba and glyphosate were selected based on results from the interaction study. Dicamba, glyphosate, and tank-mix combinations were applied to sicklepod and barnyardgrass before treatment with 14C-dicamba. Plants were harvested 4, 12, 24, and 72 h after treatment. The addition of glyphosate to dicamba resulted in reduced translocation of 14C-dicamba in both species. While the data did indicate a translocation interaction, glyphosate and dicamba combinations effectively overcame antagonism effects when higher rates were applied on sicklepod and barnyardgrass.

Crossing borders and Building bridges : Young women in peacebuilding

Granström, Sofia January 2016 (has links)
This qualitative, interpretative, interview study is conducted with six young female Kosovar-Albanian and Serbian participants from a peacebuilding, dialogue and training program called Young Women’s Peace Academy. It aims at answering what made the young women who participated so “successful” in breaking antagonism, in spite of the tensions that exist in the post-conflict society they live in. More specifically it is looking at how ethnicity, gender and age interact in the process of peacebuilding to fine-grain theory.

Agonismens död? : En undersökning av Socialdemokraternas och Moderaternas ideologi. / The death of agonism? : An ideological study of the Social Democratic Party and the Moderate Party.

Jacob, Per January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to find out if the political parties have embraced each other's ideologies. The comprehensive question of the essay is: Have the Social Democratic Party and the Moderate Party ideologies viewpoint on man and society changed? Have their economic ideals changed? This essay will use a qualitative ideal type study on the political parties program from 1990, 2001 and 2013. The result of this essay shows that while both parties have approached liberalism, only the Moderate Party have kept their ideological view through the years in the study. While the Social Democratic Party still hold democratic socialism viewpoint on society and the states relationship with the market. They have adopted a liberal viewpoint on man. Antagonism is still pertinent between the two political parties.

Antagonism toward African immigrants in Johannesburg, South Africa : an Integrated Threat Theory (ITT) approach.

Laher, Hawabibi 20 March 2009 (has links)
South Africa and Johannesburg are rapidly becoming global entities in the worldwide domain. The history of South Africa embodies a place of segregation and discrimination. At present, South Africa is characterised as a place of promise for the future. As a result, South Africa (specifically Johannesburg), “has become a magnet for people from other provinces, the African continent, and indeed, the four corners of the world” (Masondo, 2004). Yet these movements are not always met with a positive response. This study sought to investigate whether the Integrated Threat Theory (ITT) of prejudice (Stephan & Stephan, 1996) explains prejudice and social distance towards African immigrants in South Africa. The theory suggests that the factors, inter-group anxiety, realistic threats, symbolic threats and negative stereotypes, affect prejudice. Nature of communication was also used as a predictor of prejudice. The sample consisted of 345 South African citizens. A questionnaire was issued to the participants in order to establish how they feel (perception) or have felt, interacting with immigrants from African countries. Various scales were used to ascertain this information. Multiple linear regression and path analyses were conducted. Findings indicated that intergroup anxiety, symbolic threats, realistic threats and stereotypes as well as the nature of communication predicted prejudice to a large extent (68% of the variance explained) and predicted social distance to a moderate extent (42% of the variance explained).

Öhlén, Felix, Pavlovic Svensson, Emina January 2012 (has links)
