Kvalitetskontroll av utskrifter från Kodak Approval XP4Hernandez, Andrea, Bergman, Anders January 2001 (has links)
When using the digital halftone proofing systems, a closer print match can be achieved compared to what earlier couldbe done with the analogue proofing systems. These proofing systems possibilities to produce accurate print match canas well lead to producing bad print matches as several print related parameters can be adjusted manually in the systemby the user. Therefore, more advanced knowledge in graphic arts technology is required by the user of the system. The prepress company Colorcraft AB wishes to control that their color proofs always have the right quality. This projectwas started with the purpose to find a quality control metod for Colorcraft´s digital halftone proofing system(Kodak Approval XP4).Using a software who supports spectral measuring combined with a spectrophotometer and a control bar, a qualitycontrol system was assembled. This system detects variations that lies out of the proofing system´s natural deviation. The prerequisite for this quality control system is that the tolerances are defined with consideration taken to the proofingsystems natural deviations. Othervise the quality control system will generate unnecessecary false alarms and thereforenot be reliable.

The Electoral Politics of Vulnerability and the Incentives to Cast an Economic VoteSinger, Matthew McMinn 16 October 2007 (has links)
The relationship between economic performance and support for the incumbent government varies across voters and electoral contexts. While some of this variation can be explained by factors that make it easier or harder to hold politicians accountable, an additional explanation is that the electoral importance of economic issues varies systematically across groups and contexts. Because issues that are personally important tend to be more easily accessible when voting, we prose that exposure to economic shocks generates higher incentives to place more weight on economic conditions when voting. We test this hypothesis using archived and original survey data from Argentina, Mexico, and Peru. The analysis demonstrates that economic vulnerability enhances the economy's salience. Specifically, poverty generates incentives to cast an egotropic vote while wealth, insecure employment, informal employment, and exclusion from governments welfare programs enhances sociotropic voting because these groups have greater stakes in the national economy. By implication, elections in developing countries with large numbers of vulnerable voters should be more strongly contested over economics despite the weak institutional environment that potentially undermines the ability of voters to hold politicians accountable. Aggregate elections returns and the CSES survey support this proposition and demonstrate that economic voting is substantially more common in Latin American than in Western Europe or North America. Thus variations in economic voting provide opportunities to not only learn about the conditions under which elections can serve as mechanisms of accountability but also a laboratory to model the process of preference formation and the demands voters place on their representatives. / Dissertation

The main objective of the current thesis was to investigate the association between parental approval and romantic relationship commitment, and the roles of parenting style dimensions and psychological reactance in this association. Sample of the current study consisted of 166 METU students who had ongoing romantic relationships. An integrated model icluding associations between parenting style dimensions, parental approval, psychological reactance and relationship commitment was tested with LISREL 8. Since structural equation modeling did not provide results as informative as expected, the proposed model was examined as two seperate models. In the first model, the role of parental approval in the link between parenting style dimensions and relationship commitment was examined. In the second model, the role of psychological reactance in the link between parental approval and relationship commitment was examined. The results revealed that maternal acceptance had an indirect effect on relationship commitment via parental approval. In particular, increases in maternal acceptance led to increases in parental approval, which in turn led to increases in relationship commitment However, there was no significant finding regarding the impact of psychological reactance on the link between parental approval and relationship commitment.
This thesis aims to make its own contribution to the literature by scrutinizing a) the association between parental approval and relationship commitment, and b) the role of parenting style dimensions in this association.
Keywords: Relationship Commitment, Parental Approval, Perceived Parenting Styles, Psychological Reactance

The Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a initiative that gains, every day, more and more notority around the world. Since its most famous experience, in Porto Alegre – RS, the world has been paying atention to this politic, that reveals itself so positivaly regarding its results. The PB, if well executed, can approach citizens and government towards working together. However, positive results are only achieved if the PB’s structure is strong and solid. That being said, this paper proposes a model for a selection among alternatives of works and actions to be done with the PB’s resources of Paraiba, a brazilian state. To design this model, we used the problems’ structure method Soft Systems Methodology (SSM), through which is possible to clarify the population’s needs. After that, the election procedure approval voting was used. This procedure allow the voters to expose their approval, or disapproval, to each one of the considered alternatives. Finally, it was applied a multicriteria decision-aid, the PROMETHEE V, to support the selection of the ideal portfolio of alternatives considering restrictions such as budget limits and past goverment investiments. To a better comprehension of the model, it is also presented an ilustration of its application with the data of Paraiba’s 2016 PB.

In this dissertation I present the connection between opinion and virtue in Rousseau. Four works of the author are examined: the Discourse on Inequality, the Letter to D'Alembert, the Considerations on the Government of Poland, and the Emile. It is observed the importance of the opinion and its ambivalence in Rousseau¿s thought. Whereas in the Discourse on Inequality, the alienation in the other¿s opinion is view as corrupter element, in the Letter to D'Alembert and in the Considerations on the Government of Poland, the public opinion became the directive of the citizen¿s conduct. In this dichotomy, Emile presents an attempt of a virtuous man education who knows how to live in society without the alienation in the other¿s opinion / Mestrado / Mestre em Filosofia

Code checking for subway station architecture design approval.Antonio Ivo de Barros Mainardi Neto 23 May 2016 (has links)
In view of the increasing demand of São Paulo metropolitan area for fast and efficient public transport, the investment in new lines and subway stations are growing, as well as the need for accelerating the design and the construction of such infrastructure. In this context is the deployment of BIM - \"Building Information Modeling\" by Companhia do Metropolitano de São Paulo - Metrô on its stations and rails. Metrô operates the production of projects internally, and particularly contracts external projects that require analysis for approval. With the development of their basic civil projects in BIM, there have been changes in daily work, the visual analysis has been benefited from the 3D model, representing now the entire project and not only its sections. This has made possible to anticipate decisions that used to be taken in the shop drawings phase, thereby acting at a time with greater ability to apply changes in projects. One of the important BIM usages in the project\'s review process is the code checking. This allows the analyst to focus on the list of nonconformities only, gaining time to make further effort on their resolution. And, on the part of the designer, it is possible to verify the compliance of the guidelines in advance, and provide solutions to the problems already presented. The present research aimed to support the implementation process of using this BIM use, based on the flow proposal for the deployment of automated verification, the identification of patterns of existing rules and the developing of classification rules focusing on automating its checking. The proposed standards were used when analyzing documents of the architecture basic design instructions and in the translation of their rules for software application for this purpose with the intention to close the checking cycle.

The Effect of Group Formation on Behaviour: An Experimental and Evolutionary AnalysisZisis, Ioannis 23 June 2016 (has links)
The division of resources between a group of people may cause con- flicts: Individuals with varying roles and responsibilities will claim different shares of the surplus to be divided. In this dissertation, we analyze how the decision to form a group will influence the bargaining behaviour of the members of that group. People will act collectively as certain tasks may require the participation of a specific number of individuals before it can be completed. We examine whether certain mechanisms can efficiently promote group formation for the sake of surplus production, and then, what will be the effect of these mechanisms on the behaviour of the group members. For these reasons, we constructed a novel surplus production and distribution interaction which we call the Anticipation Game (AG). The AG can be played between only two players (pairwise interaction) or among more then two players (group interaction). In our study we will analyze both the pairwise AG and the group version of AG, first by obtaining our own empirical data and then by performing a stochastic evolutionary analysis. We aim to provide answers on: i) how will a reputation based partner approval mechanism influence the surplus distribution in both the pairwise and the group AG, ii) will then limitations in obtaining the reputation of a potential partner alter the results of the pairwise AG? iii) will we notice any effect on the behaviour of players when they can repeatedly cooperate with the same partners in group interactions, iv) how natural selection may have shaped the behaviour of players in group formation interactions (both pairwise and group AG evolutionary analysis). / Doctorat en Sciences / info:eu-repo/semantics/nonPublished

How much difference in type-approval CO2 emissions from passenger cars in Europe can be expected from changing to the new test procedure (NEDC vs. WLTP)?Pavlovic, J., Ciuffo, B., Fontaras, G., Valverde, V., Marotta, A. 21 December 2020 (has links)
After significant efforts from many parties, the World-wide harmonized Light duty Test Procedure (WLTP) has seen its light first as the UNECE Global Technical Regulation and then as the procedure adopted in the type-approval of light-duty vehicles in Europe. The paper focuses its attention on the main procedural differences between the WLTP and the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), which is the test-procedure currently used in Europe. In general terms the WLTP appears to be a significant improvement compared to the NEDC. The main differences between two test procedures are identified and their impact on CO2 emissions quantified using the in-house built simulation software CO2MPAS. On the basis of each of these differences, the paper assesses the potential total impact on the final reported type-approval CO2 emissions. The biggest impact on CO2 emissions is coming from the changes in the road load determination procedure (∼10% increase). Procedural changes concerning the test in the laboratory will bring another 8% and post-processing and declaration of results will result in difference of approximately 5% (each). Overall, the WLTP is likely to increase the type-approval CO2 emissions by approximately 25%. Therefore, the WLTP will be able to reduce more than half of the gap identified between the type-approval and real-life figures in Europe. This should be seen as a considerable improvement given the ontological limitations of a laboratory-based test procedure.
