A historiografia literária na Argentina e no Brasil. Romantismo(s) e nacionalismo / Literary historiography in Argentina and Brazil: Romanticism and national

Diego Alejandro Molina 01 June 2011 (has links)
Brazilian literatura has been taken aside from literary studies (as academical, critical and historiographical) that try to comprise the so-called Latin American Literature. Based on a comparison between Argentinean and Brazilian historiographical literary production of romantic writers, this research had as object to make a direct relation between the discursive processe elaborated by the literate elites of each country while creating (inventing) emerging Nations-Satates. Therefore, we intend to emphasize the similarities of the processes without exhaust or forcing comparisons. The project considers also the possibility of highlighting some problematic aspects of the so-called current national literatures. In this regard, a corpus of written literary historiography of both countries will be analyzed in the historiographical production context of Latin America, particulary, and Occident, in general, during the 19th century. Ideas of romanticism, nationalism, and literary and liberal historiography configure the backdrop in wich the project is inscribed.

[en] AVANT-GARDE TRANSGRESSION AND SUBVERSION OF VULGARITY: THE CASES OF CARLOS REICHENBACH AND ALBERTO FISCHERMAN / [pt] ENTRE A TRANSGRESSÃO VANGUARDISTA E A SUBVERSÃO DA VULGARIDADE: OS CASOS DE CARLOS REICHENBACH E ALBERTO FISCHERMAN

[en] This project analyzes the works of two filmmakers – the Brazilian Carlos Reichenbach, and the Argentinian Alberto Fischerman. Both have made their first films linked to counterculture movements of the 60s and 70s. A few years later, both of them became involved with exploitation productions. This study looks into the historical contexts in which these productions took place. It will also analyze the way both features were received by film critics. By focusing on these two films and the critical film writing they inspired, this study proposes two questions. First: If these directors, even when doing their exploitation works, have embedded in their productions doses of transgression and irony, which turned upside down what was originally an openly vulgar context. We will also look into the way the critics reacted to this subversive exploitation. In order to better grasp this reception by film pundits, a comparison between the two distinct contexts of Brazil and Argentina can enrich the analysis.

A l'affût des variations infinies du chaos : approche de l'oeuve de Rodrigo Fresán / On the lookout for the infinite variations of chaos : approaching the work of Rodrigo Fresán

Bargiel, Ewa 12 December 2014 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to examine and interpret the sophisticated composition of Rodrigo Fresán’s “house of books” or “intertextual series”. Our research will demonstrate that the nine books of the Argentinean writer, in spite of their different generic classifications and their significant thematic diversity, form a coherent whole and they cannot be therefore analyzed separately. The continuity, the logic and, most importantly, the systematic nature of this literary project, that unites all the books of the author in an original and fractal intertextual series “in progress”, will be showed. Considering the fact that this work is characterized by a generic hybridity and a tension between the unification and discontinuity techniques, the processes of literary integration and atomization utilized in the integrated story collections and in the novels of the author will be presented. Then, a repetition and variation principle will be investigated as a main construction strategy of this continuum. Many fields of application of the repetition/variation mechanisms on various levels of the series will be explored. Our study will be concentrated mostly on the narrative structures, the metafictional dimension, the generic hybridity and the extraliterary models of the Fresán’s books, that is, his musical, pictorial, photographic, film, scientific and religious inspirations.

Alberto Ginastera and the Guitar Chord: An Analytical Study

Gaviria, Carlos A. 12 1900 (has links)
The guitar chord (a sonority based on the open strings of the guitar) is one of Alberto Ginastera's compositional trademarks. The use of the guitar chord expands throughout forty years, creating a common link between different compositional stages and techniques. Chapters I and II provide the historical and technical background on Ginastera's life, oeuvre and scholar research. Chapter IV explores the origins of the guitar chord and compares it to similar specific sonorities used by different composers to express extra-musical ideas. Chapter V discusses Ginastera's initial uses and modifications of the guitar chord. Chapter VI explores the use of the guitar chord as a referential sonority based on Variaciones Concertantes, Op. 23: I-II, examining vertical (subsets) and horizontal (derivation of motives) aspects. Chapter VII explores uses of trichords and hexachords derived from the guitar chord in the Sonata for Guitar Op. 47.

Representaciones de Figuras Feministas en la Muestra Despierta!

Lane, Kathryn 01 May 2008 (has links)
Ciência e política: a aproximação Brasil-Argentina e a cooperação nuclear no subcontinente (1964-1985) / Politics and Science: the Brazil-Argentina rapprochement and the nuclear cooperation in the subcontinent (1964-1985)

Marcella de Carvalho Winter 06 June 2014 (has links)
The overall goal of my research is to understand based on which reasons and by which means Brazil and Argentina have opted for cooperation in the nuclear field during the military rule in both countries. According to the traditional literature of International Relations field, relative gains should be in evidence and, therefore, keep the countries from coordinating its positions in such an important scope for each country strategies of development and international projection - which did not occur in practice. My dissertation aims to understand the reasons why two once rivals became cooperative. From the main purpose derive specific goals, as follows: to launch a new perception of the Brazil - Argentina relations, still seen primarily according to patterns of enmity and mistrust; understand to what extent the motivations of countries in nuclear technology are related to security issues or national development; understand which were the material and ideational foundations that enabled the two countries to integrate and therefore share sovereignty in a matter of high politics; demonstrate that cooperation is not exclusive to democratic regimes; analyze the influence of non-political groups in policy formulation and decision making; prove that there was no arms race in the region or intention to use the nuclear device against one another. The time frame of this study departs from late 1964, when the military regime begins in Brazil, to the year 1985, when democracy is restored in the Southern Cone. The timeframe is not airtight, since there are earlier references to 1964, mainly involving the scientific cooperation, and after 1985, when the Brazilian-Argentine nuclear coordination is elevated to a higher level, with the establishment of ABACC. In an attempt to answer the questions posed, my dissertation is based on the analysis of two main actors: the state and epistemic communities.

Based on true stories : representing the self and the other in Latin American documentary narratives

Chávez Díaz, Liliana Guadalupe January 2017 (has links)
This doctoral thesis studies the relationship between journalism and literature in contexts in which freedom of speech is at risk. It takes as primary sources a variety of nonfiction, crónicas, literary journalism and testimonial novels published by Latin American authors in Spanish, from the 1950s to the 2000s. I propose the concept ‘documentary narratives’ to refer to all literary modes of discourse which are related, in diverse degrees, to a journalistic representation of reality. My corpus covers a wide range of topics such as social protests, dictatorships, civil wars, natural disaster, crime and migration. While scholars have focused on the rhetoric and history of this kind of narratives, my reading considers the real, face-to-face encounter between the journalist and others. I argue that the representation of these encounters influences the pact with the reader and challenges the notion of truthfulness. I contend that documentary narratives can serve as a tool for the transmission of knowledge and the production of public debate in societies marked by political and social instability. In a world overwhelmed by data production and immersed in violent acts against those to be considered ‘Others’, I argue that storytelling is still an essential form of communication among individuals, classes and cultures. Contrary to the authors’s intentions of documenting others’ lives, I conclude that these stories offer an (interrupted) account of oneself, that is, the account of a contemporary storyteller pursuing a rarely fulfilled desire of getting to know the Other truly. The thesis has two appendices. Appendix 1 showcases archival material that support some of my arguments. Appendix 2 includes the transcripts of the interviews that I conducted with eight Latin American authors: Elena Poniatowska, Leila Guerriero, Cristian Alarcón, Arturo Fontaine, Santiago Roncagliolo, Francisco Goldman, Martín Caparrós, and Juan Villoro.

Gegen(-) Abwesenheiten

Bolte, Rike 18 February 2014 (has links)
Jahrhundert liefern. / During the Argentinean dictatorship (1976-1983), tens of thousands of people were kept in secret camps, were tortured, murdered, and ''disappeared''. Most cases are difficult to reconstruct. Many of the offenders have remained unpunished. The term "forced disappearance" (Spanish desaparición forzada) was introduced for this act of state terrorism. This study addresses medial and esthetic processes that were developed in light of the debate on desaparición forzada in Argentina. At the heart of the study is the hypothesis that the violent ''depresentation'' of the victims has led to ''cognitive murder'' ("percepticidio"). The media strategy and esthetic productions analyzed in the study represent the current state of the art of the trans-generational cultural work on cognition relevant social and political experiences. The productions in the field of the study of narration, poetry, photography, film, and theater have emerged in context of the post 1989 memory-boom and digital globalization. Félix Bruzzone, Mariana Enríquez und Martín Gambarotta, Virginia Giannoni, and Lucila Quieto as well as Albertina Carri and Lola Arias have conceptualized counter(re)presentations to violent disappearance which proceed materially, meta-medially, and counter-informatively. Following introductions on discourse analysis, representation theory, and media theory as well as a number of terminology definitions, the study analyzes the above mentioned productions created by a post dictatorship generation, which are being referred to as the "Camada Cadáver", and shows that the ''phenomenon'' of forced disappearance, which leads to a repeated lack of reference, has motivated esthetic strategies that are to be classified as exemplarily emergent and experimental, because they have produced new insights for the unfinished research on one of the many terror regimes of the twentieth century.
