Optimering orderplock i ett mindre företagEngström, Rickard January 2017 (has links)
Nyckelord: orderplock, lager, felplock, artikel / The project was carried out at Mirro AB, a small company that manufactures sliding door solutions in its production in Hillerstorp, Småland. Within the company there are two brands, Mirro and Pelly System. The company has faced a challenge due to the fact that that there has been a big increase in volumes. This has led to consequences such as an increased number of picking errors for both brands as well as queues in Mirros area for compilation of orders. The purpose has been to suggest cost-effective solutions to these problems. One delimitation is that the complaints have been evaluated solely for the full calendar year of 2016. The study has only been limited to the picking stock for the brands Mirro and Pelly System. Therefore, the study has not taken into account any improvements needed in the production itself in addition to the proposed layout changes proposed to create better conditions for the flow of the stock. The study has been limited to the picking stock and the area for compilation of orders near by the picking stock. The two questions that were answered are: a) How can picking errors from the stock at a small company be minimized? b) In a small company with customer unique products, how can queuing in the area for compiling orders, be avoided by optimizing order picking in relation to the production flow? Case study regarding the company Mirro AB has been carried out with data collection through interviews and review of statistical material for complaints and storage transactions. This has since been used in various forms of systematic processing through SWOT analyses, brainstorming, Pareto diagrams and Ishikawa diagrams. Important results have been that a new, more efficient layout has been suggested for the warehouse that leads to more efficient order picking and order compilation. It is recommended to introduce barcode scanners with display and handheld computers as picking help and to reallocate personnel resources between the two brands to get a more even division of labour. The recommendations of the studies will help the company to correct its problems regarding the two issues without having to increase its resources. There will also be a better working situation due to the improved layout. The conclusion is that if the company implements the recommended improvement measures proposed, it will have a good possibility to correct the two issues. The result from the case study provided the expected results, it required more changes than I had expected. Key words: Order picking, warehouse, error picking, article

Psychometric properties of the olson and barnes quality of life scale in lima studentsGrimaldo, Mirian Pilar, Correa, Jossué David, Jara, Diego, Cirilo, Ingrid Belu, Aguirre, Marivel Teresa 01 January 2020 (has links)
Quality of life refers to the way in which the person perceives their daily experience, considering in this process the social and cultural component. This implies that to know the perception of the quality of life it is necessary to consider in its measurement the scope of physical, psychological, social, environmental and personal health. Along these lines, one of the instruments that is limited to this approach is the Barnes and Olson Quality of Life Scale (ECVOB). Objective. The purpose of the study was to determine the validity based on the internal structure and reliability of the ECVOB in schoolchildren and university students in Lima. Method. The study design is instrumental. The Spanish version of the ECVOB was used on a sample of 1239 students from Lima between males (57%) and females (43%) aged between 14 and 26 years (M age = 22.45; SD age = 3.75). The evidence of validity of the internal structure was evaluated through a confirmatory factor analysis. Results. The findings suggest a partial restructuring of the original seven-factor model proposed by Olson and Barnes. Conclusion. The new structure of the ECVOB is a valid and reliable measure in schoolchildren and university students in Lima.

Exploring interactive features in auto-generated articles through article visualizationAbdel-Rehim, Ali January 2019 (has links)
News articles generated by artificial intelligence rather than human reporters are referred to as automated journalism. This thesis explores how to create a trustworthy representation of news articles that mainly are generated by algorithmic decisions. The hypothesis of this thesis takes the background (characteristics of the underlying system design) and the foreground (millennials news consumption behaviour) contexts into consideration in order to provide an optimal approach for trustworthy representation of auto-generated articles. A theory about algorithmic transparency in the news media has been investigated to reveal information about the systems selection processes. The principles of glanceability and the heuristic principles are applied to proposed design solutions (interactive features). The outcomes show that newsreaders are positive towards a system that is trying to encourage them to fact-check the articles. Additionally, the outcomes also contributed to the understanding of how newsreaders can consume auto-generated news.

Non-Standard Article Use in Pakistani English : An Attitudinal StudyBergström, Ninni January 2022 (has links)
This essay explores Pakistani English teachers’ attitudes towards non-standard article use in Pakistani English. It uses the theories of Kachru (1985), Modiano (1999a, 1999b, 2020) and Schneider (2003, 2007) on World Englishes as well as previous research on Pakistani English. Nine university teachers were interviewed for the study, and the data was analysed with a qualitative approach. The analysis showed that effective communication was a key focus for the teachers when discussing and relating to non-standard article use. In line with Modiano’s model of World Englishes, the teachers had a dual approach to the feature; in conversation they generally accepted or tolerated it while in writing and more formal contexts, they found it less acceptable. This attitude was reflected in their teaching as they generally let it pass in students’ speech but corrected it in writing. The teachers had a predominantly exonormative stance on non-standard article use; however, they described the rate of the feature as dependent on social class and showed understanding and empathy for those who do not have the opportunity to master standard English. Non-standard article use was found to be at the stage of nativisation in Schneider’s PCE theory.

National trends of hepatocellular carcinoma mortality registered by the ministry of health in Peru, from 2005 to 2016 / Tendencia nacional de la mortalidad por hepatocarcinoma registrada en el ministerio de salud del Perú del 2005 al 2016Piscoya, Alejandro, Atamari-Anahui, Noé, Ccorahua-Rios, Maycol Suker, del Riego, Angela Parra 01 December 2020 (has links)
Background. Hepatocellular carcinoma results in most cases from underlying chronic liver disease. The most common causes are the Hepatitis B virus and the Hepatitis C virus in-fections, the alcoholism and the aflatoxin. Mortality statistics of liver cell carcinoma in Peru is limited. Objectives. Update statistics on hepatocellular carcinoma mortality in Peru between the years 2005 and 2016. Methods. Observation-al, descriptive studyand secondary analysis of the Ministry of Health database. Records with the basic cause of death ICD 10: C22, the liver cell carcinoma were reviewed. Mortality was calculated according to the age, the sex and the department in which death was recorded; Also, standardized mortality by age was calculated. Results. 2,170 people were registered as deceased due to hepatocellular carcinoma. The 50.1% were male and the 67.5% older than 60 years. The standardized mortality rate in Peru decreased from 1.1 to 0.7 per 100,000 population from 2005 to 2016. The raw cup of mortality per 100,000 population shows that when comparing the first period (2005-2010) with the second (2011-2016), the tendency in Peru has decreased. The only region that presented a decrease in mortality was the Mountains (% change =-40.1). Conclusions. Standardized mortality by age had a slight decrease from 2005 to 2016; however, this difference does not show considerable variations. Mortality from this neoplasm seems to remain high and stable since the period from 1995 to 2000. / Revisión por pares

A Longitudinal Analysis of Spanish Morphosyntactic Performance Based on Spanish-English Bilingual Exposure and UsageSun, Siena Xiaole January 2021 (has links)
This study examines the interaction between language experience and Spanish morphosyntactic development using longitudinal data of Spanish-English bilingual children with typical language development (TD) and developmental language disorder (DLD). Specifically, this study explores how language exposure and usage influence the production accuracy of articles, direct object clitics and subjunctives across 4 years. Analyses of growth trajectories show that the trajectories differ by both language ability groups and morphosyntactic structures. Among the three grammatical markers, the TD group demonstrates different patterns of growth while the DLD group demonstrates consistent ascending trajectories. The accuracy of articles is the highest in all three markers across 4 years for both TD and DLD groups. The accuracy of direct object clitics in the DLD group increases over time while it decreases slightly in the TD group. The accuracy of subjunctives increases in both TD and DLD groups, but the increase was higher in the DLD group than in the TD group. Results of the generalized linear model (GLM) of the accuracy of three grammatical markers indicate that the contributing factors differ by the marker: language exposure, language usage, language ability group and grade level have significant effects on accuracy of articles; language ability group is the only contributing factor to the production accuracy of direct object clitics; and language exposure, language ability group and grade level significantly influence the production accuracy of subjunctives. Results of the GLM of accuracy at the fourth assessment time also reveal that contributing factors to accuracy of fourth-year performance differ by grammatical markers: a significant effect of accuracy at first observation time for articles and direct object clitics, a significant effect of baseline accuracy for articles and subjunctives, and a significant effect of language ability for subjunctives. These results confirm that articles, direct object clitics and subjunctives are reliable markers of language impairment for Spanish-English bilingual children. This study also describes the specific influence of language experience within the language ability group and grade level. The influence of language experience on production accuracy differs by language ability group and morphosyntactic structures. / Communication Sciences

The Definite Article System in L1-English L2-Spanish LearnersArdura, Diego 01 January 2014 (has links) (PDF)
Previous studies on the acquisition of definite plurals in Child and Second Language Acquisition have found strong evidence on how transfer can affect the L2-acquisition of articles. Nevertheless, these studies presented some limitations. First, they failed to consider other variables that could interfere with transfer in the acquisition of the article system. And second, the methodology used to test the participants’ implicit knowledge of article system was very similar in all studies (Truth-Value Judgment Task). In order to fill these two gaps in the literature, the present study uses a listening comprehension task to test how the mass/count distinction can affect the interpretation of definite plurals in intermediate L1-English L2-Spanish learners. This study also adds another variable, the type of verb, to test whether the mass/count distinction equally affects L1-English L2-Spanish interpretations’ of the Spanish article system throughout different kind of verbs. Two types of verbs were used: gustar-like verbs (psychological verbs) and non-psychological verbs. These verbs were used in questions, so their different syntactic characteristics were neutralized.
Two experiments were created following the same guidelines, but using a different type of verb. First, the participants were shown a situation in a computer screen. These situations were controlled so both specific and generic readings could be interpreted. After reading each situation, a question, which could either trigger a specific
or a generic reading, was asked orally to the participants. Written responses were collected from each participant, and coded as either ‘generic’, ‘specific’, or ‘other’.
The results of this thesis show highly statistically significant differences for how L1-English L2-Spanish learners interpret count and mass nouns. On the one hand, L1-English L2-Spanish tended to interpret count nouns as specific. On the other, they showed a strong tendency to interpret mass nouns as generic. In this sense, the statistical analysis conducted suggests that L1-English L2-Spanish and Spanish native speakers converged in their implicit knowledge of definite plurals containing mass nouns. Nevertheless, native speakers and L2-Spanish learners significantly differed in their interpretations of countable nouns. All of these patterns were found for both psychological and non-psychological verbs. The present study found very similar rates of generic responses for non-psychological verbs in L2-Spanish as previously reported by Ionin and Montrul (2012) and Ionin, Montrul, and Crivós (2011). Interestingly, the rates of generic responses for psychological verbs were much higher and diverged a bit from the results of Ionin and Montrul (2012) and Ionin, Montrul, and Crivós (2011).
I discuss the importance of these results for the field of Second Language Acquisition and Semantics.
