Além disso, aplicamos com sucesso as T-FAMs em um problema de auto-localização de robô móvel baseado em visão / Abstract: Most fuzzy associative memories in the literature correspond to neural networks with a single layer of weights that distributively contains the information about the associations to be stored. The main applications of these types of associative memory can be found in fuzzy rule-base systems. In contrast, we present in this thesis the class of T-fuzzy associative memories (T-FAMs) that represent fuzzy neural networks with two layers. Particular cases of T-FAMs, called (dual) S-FAMs and E-FAMs, are based on fuzzy subsethood and equivalence measures. We provide theoretical results concerning the storage capability and error correction capability of T-FAMs. Furthermore, we introduce a general training algorithm for T-FAM that is guaranteed to converge in a finite numbers of iterations. We also proposed another alternative training algorithm for a certain type of E-FAM that not only adjusts the parameters of the corresponding network but also automatically determines its topology. We compare the classification rates produced by T-FAMs with that ones of some well-known classifiers in several benchmark classification problems that are available on the internet. Finally, we successful apply T-FAM approach to a problem of vision-based selflocalization in mobile robotics / Doutorado / Matematica Aplicada / Doutor em Matemática Aplicada

In this thesis work we study the connection between two theories of noncommutative valuation: Dubrovin valuation rings and gauges. Dubrovin valuation rings were introduced in 1982 as a generalization of invariant valuation rings to Artinian simple rings. Gauges are valuation-like maps that can be defined not only on division algebras, but more generally, on finite-dimensional semisimple algebras over valued fields. Gauges were introduced much more recently in 2010 by Tignol and Wadsworth. Just as for valuations on fields, we can define a ring associated to a gauge, which we call gauge ring. Arithmetic properties of the gauge ring are studied. We show that the gauge ring is always a semi-local order integral over its center. We also describe the gauge ring with respect to composition of gauges and scalar extension. We introduce the concept of minimal gauge on central simple algebras, which are gauges that the degree zero part of the associated graded ring has the least number of simple components. We show that the ring of a minimal gauge is an intersection of a family of Dubrovin valuation rings having the intersection property. The intersection property was introduced by Gräter in 1992. We also proved that if we start with a family of Dubrovin valuation rings having the intersection property, then there exist a minimal gauge associated, assuming that the valuation of the center has finite rank. In this direction, our main result is an existence theorem of minimal gauges on central simple algebra over a field with a finite rank valuation. We also generalize for simple algebras, non-necessarily central, a result of Tignol and Wadsworth which relate gauges with certain value functions introduced by Morandi in 1989. This value functions are associated to Dubrovin valuation rings integral over its center. As a consequence of this last result, we obtain an existence theorem of gauges on finite dimensional semisimple algebras over a field with a rank one valuation / Doutorado / Matematica / Doutor em Matemática

Sękowski, Paweł 06 July 2015 (has links)
The object oh the following thesis is the Polish community living in France from the interwar period, in the majority consisting of laborers who owned the status of travailleur étranger – “foreign worker”. FIXAÇÃO BIOLÓGICA DE NITROGÊNIO E MICORRÍZAÇÃO EM GRAMÍNEAS DOS CAMPOS SULINOS / BIOLOGICAL NITROGEN FIXATION AND MYCORRHIZATION IN GRASSES OF THE SOUTHERN FIELDS

Marques, Anderson Cesar Ramos 10 February 2014 (has links)
Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária / The knowledge of the level of association that occurs between diazotrophic bacteria and fungi arbusculares mycorrhizae (AMF) in grassland ecosystems may be important for the understanding of the changes caused by the addition of fertilizers containing phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N), in the production and botanical composition of natural pastures. The objective of this study was to evaluate. (a) the occurrence of three genera of diazotrophic bacterial in the root system under fertilization with N and P, and determine the contribution of N via BNF, and (b) evaluate the behavior of the association between AMF and native grasses. Four most abundant grasses in natural grasslands of the Southern Campos in Rio Grande do Sul , Axonopus affinis, Paspalum notatum, Andropogon lateralis and Aristida laevis were grown in pots of 5 kg, in a greenhouse, two studies being conducted (A e B ). In A, two treatments were applied: 50 mg kg-1 soil P and 100 mg kg-1 of soil N (NP) and a control, being evaluated, the number of diazotrophic bacteria of the genera Azotobacter, Azospirillum and Herbaspirillum, and the contribution of BNF was determined by the technique of natural 15N abundance. In B, the treatments consisted of applying 50 mg kg-1 soil P (P), application of 50 mg kg-1 soil P and 100 mg kg-1 of soil N (NP), and a control, in both treatments mycorrhizal colonization was determined. For A, A. laevis demonstrate to be more dependent on biological N fixation than the other species. The grass P. notatum compared with other species demonstrated to be more efficient to absorb available soil N. The dry matter accumulation in shoots of the native species was higher with the application of NP. In B the mycorrhizal colonization was similar between the control, P and NP to the roots of A. lateralis and A. laevis, thus presenting a greater dependence on the mycorrhizal association. Differently, in A. affinis and P. notatum, the mycorrhizal colonization was lower when subjected to fertilization with P and NP, thus presenting a lower dependence. It is concluded for A that fertilization with N and P reduces diazotrophic colonization, increasing the production of dry matter and N content of the tissue. A. laevis showed the highest contribution of biological nitrogen fixation, since P. notatum showed higher N accumulation in soil. In relation to B, A. laevis and A. lateralis have a higher dependence on the mycorrhizal than A. affinis and P. notatum.

Decision tree learning for intelligent mobile robot navigation

Shah Hamzei, G. Hossein January 1998 (has links)
The replication of human intelligence, learning and reasoning by means of computer algorithms is termed Artificial Intelligence (Al) and the interaction of such algorithms with the physical world can be achieved using robotics. The work described in this thesis investigates the applications of concept learning (an approach which takes its inspiration from biological motivations and from survival instincts in particular) to robot control and path planning. The methodology of concept learning has been applied using learning decision trees (DTs) which induce domain knowledge from a finite set of training vectors which in turn describe systematically a physical entity and are used to train a robot to learn new concepts and to adapt its behaviour. To achieve behaviour learning, this work introduces the novel approach of hierarchical learning and knowledge decomposition to the frame of the reactive robot architecture. Following the analogy with survival instincts, the robot is first taught how to survive in very simple and homogeneous environments, namely a world without any disturbances or any kind of "hostility". Once this simple behaviour, named a primitive, has been established, the robot is trained to adapt new knowledge to cope with increasingly complex environments by adding further worlds to its existing knowledge. The repertoire of the robot behaviours in the form of symbolic knowledge is retained in a hierarchy of clustered decision trees (DTs) accommodating a number of primitives. To classify robot perceptions, control rules are synthesised using symbolic knowledge derived from searching the hierarchy of DTs. A second novel concept is introduced, namely that of multi-dimensional fuzzy associative memories (MDFAMs). These are clustered fuzzy decision trees (FDTs) which are trained locally and accommodate specific perceptual knowledge. Fuzzy logic is incorporated to deal with inherent noise in sensory data and to merge conflicting behaviours of the DTs. In this thesis, the feasibility of the developed techniques is illustrated in the robot applications, their benefits and drawbacks are discussed.

Data Distribution Management In Large-scale Distributed Environments

Gu, Yunfeng January 2012 (has links)
Data Distribution Management (DDM) deals with two basic problems: how to distribute data generated at the application layer among underlying nodes in a distributed system and how to retrieve data back whenever it is necessary. This thesis explores DDM in two different network environments: peer-to-peer (P2P) overlay networks and cluster-based network environments. DDM in P2P overlay networks is considered a more complete concept of building and maintaining a P2P overlay architecture than a simple data fetching scheme, and is closely related to the more commonly known associative searching or queries. DDM in the cluster-based network environment is one of the important services provided by the simulation middle-ware to support real-time distributed interactive simulations. The only common feature shared by DDM in both environments is that they are all built to provide data indexing service. Because of these fundamental differences, we have designed and developed a novel distributed data structure, Hierarchically Distributed Tree (HD Tree), to support range queries in P2P overlay networks. All the relevant problems of a distributed data structure, including the scalability, self-organizing, fault-tolerance, and load balancing have been studied. Both theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the HD Tree is able to give a complete view of system states when processing multi-dimensional range queries at different levels of selectivity and in various error-prone routing environments. On the other hand, a novel DDM scheme, Adaptive Grid-based DDM scheme, is proposed to improve the DDM performance in the cluster-based network environment. This new DDM scheme evaluates the input size of a simulation based on probability models. The optimum DDM performance is best approached by adapting the simulation running in a mode that is most appropriate to the size of the simulation.

O primeiro problema trata da previsão da mão-de-obra requerida em industrias metalúrgicas enquanto que a segunda aplicação refere-se a previsão da vazão média mensal da usina hidrelétrica de Furnas / Abstract: Associative memories (AMs) are models that allow for the storage of pattern associations and the retrieval of the desired output pattern upon presentation of a possibly noisy or incomplete version of an input pattern. This thesis discusses fuzzy morphological associative memories (FMAMs), a general class of AMs designed to store fuzzy patterns and described by fuzzy neural networks. Each neuron of a FMAM model performs an elementary operation of mathematical morphology such as dilation, erosion, anti-dilation, and anti-erosion. We show that the most widely known models of fuzzy associative memories (FAMs) belong to the FMAM class. This thesis introduces the implicative fuzzy associative memories (IFAMs) and their dual versions with respect to negation and adjunction. An IFAM is a FMAM model where the patterns are stored by means of implicative fuzzy learning. Specifically, in implicative fuzzy learning, the synaptic weights are given by the minimum of the implication of pre- and postsynaptic activations. We present results concerning the recall and storing phase of IFAM and the dual IFAM models. In particular, we present theorems concerning the convergence, the storage capacity, the noise tolerance, and the fixed points of the IFAM and dual IFAM models in the auto-associative case. We compare the IFAMs with several others FAM models by means of theoretical results and examples. Finally, we present two applications of FMAM models in problems of time-series prediction. The first problem concerns the engineering manpower requirement in steel manufacturing industry while the second refers to the stream flow prediction of a large hydroelectric plant, namely Furnas / Doutorado / Doutor em Matemática Aplicada

The advent of type-2 fuzzy systems suggests the development of type-2 FMAMs and in particular interval type-2 FMAMs or interval-valued FMAMs. Recall that the class of fuzzy sets as well as the classes of type-2, interval type-2, and interval-valued fuzzy sets over an arbitrary universe together with different choices of partial orderings form classes of L-fuzzy sets, where L denotes a complete lattice. In this master's thesis, we introduce L-fuzzy morphological associative memories (L-FMAMs) on the basis of L-FMM. Our focus is on interval-valued FMAMs since interval type-2 fuzzy systems, have found various applications in engineering, computing with words, and approximate reasoning. We applied the aforementioned interval-valued FMAM models in conjunction with the interval-valued fuzzy c-means clustering technique to a time-series prediction problem in industry, namely the problem of forecasting the average monthly streamflow of a hydroelectric plant located in southeastern Brazil, and compared the predictions produced by the IV-FMAM approach with the ones produced by a number of competitive models from the literature / Mestrado / Matematica Aplicada / Mestre em Matemática Aplicada
