Pese a que la naturaleza épica de Contra Symmachum no resulta explícita en el poema (de hecho, algunas de sus particularidades, como el título, la estructura, el metro y el tema hacen difícil establecer inequívocamente su género), la hipótesis aquí propuesta consiste en interpretar su naturaleza épica como el resultado de un doble objetivo estratégico. Sostenemos que Prudencio pretende exaltar la victoria de la fe cristiana sobre los antiguos cultos paganos, y al mismo tiempo, desea para su obra una dignidad poética equiparable con la atribuida a la poesía épica clásica. Nuestras conclusiones demostrarán la pertenencia de Contra Symmachum a dicho género literario no solo por estar escrito en hexámetros, abordar un tema histórico y tener un propósito didáctico; sino también –y particularmente– como resultado de las distintas transformaciones, asimilaciones y conversiones consideradas imperativas por Prudencio para revitalizar la relación entre el género épico y la retórica epidíctica, polemizar con la antigua literatura pagana y, a su vez, establecer la supremacía del cristianismo sobre las habilidades oratorias de Quinto Aurelio Símaco y sus palabras. / Notwithstanding Contra Symmachum’ s epic nature is not made explicit in the poem (in fact, some of its particularities –like title, structure, meter and theme– make difficult to unequivocally establish its genre), the hypothesis here proposed is to present its epic nature as a result of a double strategic goal. We sustain Prudentius aims to exalt the victory of Christian faith over ancient pagan cults, and at the same time, that he also wants his poem to achive a poetic dignity similar to the one of classical epic poetry. Our conclusions will show that Contra Symmachum belong to that literary genre because it is written in hexameters, it addresses a historical topic, and has a didactic purpose; but also –and particularly– as a result of different transformations, assimilations and conversions considered imperative by Prudentius in order to revitalize the relationship between epic genre and epideictic rhetoric, to polemicize with ancient pagan poetry and, in turn, to establish Christianity’ supremacy over Quintus Aurelius Symmachus’s oratory skills and his words.

As a matter of fact, this research has as the main source articles from the magazine itself, which is not only the source but also the main subject. As the object, it leads us to the Cultural History field. The magazine does not represent a society, in a specific moment, more than that, it represents the labor of a determined social configuration of imposing its image to the future. The hypothesis, that the Magazine worked as a vehicle for efficient communication, making the dialogue easier between various spheres that made up their public reader, is the basis of this project. The analysis, under this view, will allow us to identify the various areas of expertise of staff who wrote the articles in the Journal, and interpret the design of education they have demonstrated / O objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar como a Revista Vozes de Petrópolis concebe a educação no decorrer da gestão editorial de Frei Alberto Stulzer, que corresponde também ao momento de discussão e implantação Lei de Diretrizes e Bases que foi assinada em 1961. La ricerca si focalizza sulle espressioni artistiche a Crema durante il Cinquecento, prendendo in considerazione artisti, episodi particolari, commissioni pubbliche e private. Partendo dall’intervento di Benedetto Diana in Santa Maria della Croce, passando per la bottega di Vincenzo Civerchio, si giunge ad analizzare le figure di Aurelio Buso e Carlo Urbino, fino alla fine del secolo. Il lavoro presenta alcuni documenti inediti, quali uno che attesta la presenza di Aurelio Buso a Genova e altri che mostrano l’origine di Carlo Urbino . / This study is focused on the artistic expressions in Crema along the XVI century, considering artists, happenings, public and private commissions. Starting from the work of Benedetto Diana in Santa Maria della Croce, through the workshop of Vincenzo Civerchio, we arrive studying Aurelio Buso and Carlo Urbino, at the end of the century. This study presents come new documents, as one that certificate the journey of Aurelio Buso to Genua and others that show the origin of Carlo Urbino.

No pré-despacho de sistemas hidrotêrmicos, as usinas hidroelétricas têm uma meta a cumprir em um determinado dia, estabelecida pelo planejamento de longo prazo. As usinas termoelétricas, por sua vez, apresentam restrições de rampa, pois necessitam de um determinado tempo tanto para aumentar quanto para reduzir sua produção de energia. A implementação dos métodos de pontos interiores é testada em estudos de casos com sistemas IEEE / Abstract: The central path and the predictor-corrector primal-dual interior points methods are developed for the generation and transmission losses optimization problem for a DC power flow model in a hydrothermal power system and the resulting matrix structure is exploited leading to an efficient implementation. In short term hydrothermal scheduling, the hydro generating units need to satisfy daily targets, established by long-term scheduling models. The thermal generating units have ramp constraints because they need a certain amount of time to change de level of power delivery. Il lavoro consiste nell'analisi dei tratti peculiari della lingua delle Meditazioni dell'imperatore Marco Aurelio Antonino in relazione alla prosa imperiale coeva all'autore; nel contempo la ricerca mira a riconoscere una possibile influenza della lingua latina nella stesura del trattato. / The work is about the language of Marcus Aurelius's Meditations compared to the imperial contemporary prose and tries to find influences of Latin language in the composition of the treatise.

His legacy, at the same time indelible and anonymous, is revealed in his works and those of his disciples. His initiation working for furniture stores in Puebla, where he was born, gave him the architecture path in the university, and the vocation to head the production line of the American branch in Mexico City of the leading manufacturers of modern furniture in the twentieth century – Knoll International –, responsible for designs such as Mies van der Rohe, Marcel Breuer, Eero Saarinen and Harry Bertoia. At the beginning of the 1960s, after a season in the company headquarters, he was indicated to share his knowledge on the field with the recently licensed Forma store in São Paulo. In Brazil, he not only disseminated the Bauhaus design, through his pioneering store – Inter/design – but also developed a method for decoration and interiors based on modern strategy and his own cultural background. Its architectural production, rooted in Mexican tradition, acculturated by international modernism and implanted in Brazilian territory, certainly deserves to be analyzed and thought. The presence of Aurelio Martinez Flores in Brazilian architecture, although unknown, is one of the most relevant to contemporaneity. Therefore, even if late, from the analysis of primary sources, this research is fundamental to announce one of the rare incursions between the two Latin American cultures. / Aurelio Martínez Flores (1929-2015), arquitecto mexicano radicado en Brasil, dejó a lo largo de su vida profesional, importantes contribuciones que se materializan en los campos del diseño, interiores y arquitectura. Su legado, al mismo tiempo indeleble y anónimo, se revela tanto en sus obras como en las de sus discípulos. Su iniciación trabajando para tiendas de muebles en la ciudad de Puebla, donde nació, fue um antecedente tanto em su formacion como arquitecto em la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) como em su vocación para dirigir la línea de producción de la filial americana en la Ciudad de México, de unos de los principales fabricantes de mobiliario moderno del siglo XX – Knoll Internacional –, responsable de dibujos como los de Mies van der Rohe, Marcel Breuer, Eero Saarinen y Harry Bertoia. En 1960, después de la temporada en la matriz estadounidense, fue indicado como responsable por la transferencia de conocimiento de la producción del mobiliario internacional en la recién licenciada tienda Forma en São Paulo. En Brasil, no sólo difundió el diseño de Bauhaus, a través de su tienda pionera – el Inter/design – sino que también desarrolló un método para decoración e interiores basado en la estrategia moderna y su propia identidad cultural. The North End is one of the most colourful areas in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Plagued by urban decay, the North End is a melting pot of cultures and catch basin for many marginalized people. In the face of adversity, people unite under similar ideals and principles to work towards common goals. This unity is exemplified in co-operatives, which has been in the North End for decades. Co-ops exhibited outstanding camaraderie with the goal of alleviating adverse social conditions. Today, the co-op sector, exemplified by Pollock’s Hardware and Urban Eatin’ Landscapes, continue to operate in the area like conventional business, while practicing social and environmental responsibility under a common set of principles. Due to their ideologies and principles, their impact on neighbourhood and community revitalization is more profound than expected. Through case studies, this research found that co-ops offer urban planners and government officials a complimentary method to conventional urban revitalization methods. Co-operative Urban Revitalization starts by uniting marginalized people and empowering them to devise solutions to social and economic problems. / February 2017
