Pauvreté monétaire et multidimensionnelle au Togo : mesure, analyse et évaluation d’impact des politiques de ciblage / Monetary and multidimensional poverty in Togo : measure, analysis and evaluation of the effectiveness of targeted policies

Noglo, Agbényégan Yawo 10 June 2013 (has links)
Ranked 162nd in the world out of 183, Togo is one of the least advanced countries in the world. Shaken by a huge political crisis in the 90’s with dramatic social and economic consequences, the country has had positive GDP growth rates since 2006. However, this performance is still not enough to considerably alleviate the country’s multiform poverty. This dissertation aims to measure two approaches of poverty: the monetary one and basic needs. The measuring tools are: Foster Greer Thorbecke (FGT) poverty indices once a poverty line is determined, Multiple Correspondance Analysis (MCA) used to construct a Composite Poverty Indicator (CPI) and finally econometric estimations. Having introduced some targeting policies, a special attention is paid to micro-finance. Statistical results have shown evidence that, despite the high level of loan repayment by group lending members, they remain non-monetary poor. It is also noticed that the repayment performance isn’t linked to any improvement of the credit group member’s monetary situation, but rather to the very nature of group lending technology.

O impacto de variáveis do trabalho na autorrealização / Not informed by the author

Alexandre Pellaes 24 April 2018 (has links)
However, the focus has been on technological and commercial issues, with little interest for human relations and man\'s understanding of his own actualization. Discussions about the role of work, its meaning and purpose have awakened the search for knowledge about mechanisms of satisfaction of human needs through productive action. New ways of working have demanded an increase in autonomy and individuality in the execution of task. This study relies on Maslows (1954) concept of Self-actualization and aims to identify personal information and historical professional profile and work preferences that will connect and correlate with on statistical basis with the SISA Short Index of Self Actualization. Quantitative data was gathered through online questionnaire applied in the first half of 2018, for a 7-day period, presenting questions about personal and professional profile identification and preferences at work + SISA. Total research sample = 4,048. SISA index of the exercise has identified 394 (9,7%) self-actualizing subjects. Higher self-actualization percentages were identified in the older and more experienced group. The odds of being a self-actualizing person has shown to be correlated with educational level and age. The higher the formal education level of a subject, stronger the probability of being a self-actualizing individual. Subjects working on flexible organizations and contemporary management models show 1,39 times more chance of being self-actualized, than workers on hierarchical organizations. 50,7% of the total sample is composed by individuals working under traditional employment strict rules (CLT). Subjects in this group presents lower probability (7,4%) of being self-actualized. Individuals whose jobs and employment agreements are more flexible and autonomous have superior index for self-actualization. 90% of the sample have mentioned negative emotional impact from previous jobs. Conclusions are that self-actualization potential will be higher as the subject is older, more experienced and has higher educational level. Flexible and autonomous working conditions will also have a positive impact on self-actualization index

”Varför är du alltid sist ut ur omklädningsrummet?” : En kvantitativ studie kring psykisk välbefinnande och tillfredsställelse av de grundläggande psykologiska behoven inom ungdomsfotbollen / "Why are you always the last one out of the locker room?" : A quantitative study about mental well-being and satisfaction of the basic psychological needs in youth football

Bellander, Sebastian January 2022 (has links)
Background: Mental illness is a major problem in society and is also increasing in sports. More and more professional football players have started talking about their mental well-being and mental illness. This generates questions, whether the situation is the same within youth football? According to research, it is also increasing in that area. Is that true? How does mental well-being manifest itself in youth football in general? With experience from an active football career, there is an interest in more knowledge about mental well-being in youth football and indications of mental illness. Purpose: The main purpose of this research is to investigate mental well-being and to what extent there are indications that mental illness can occur among youth football players between 13 - 17 years from several regions in southern Sweden. The sub-purpose is, with the help of basic psychological needs theory, investigate the connection between perceived satisfaction of basic psychological needs and perceived mental well-being among youth football players. Method: The study has had a quantitative starting point and has taken part in collected data from an ongoing research project. The project used a cross-sectional design in the form of questionnaires for data collection and a secondary analysis was performed on all data. The study involved 353 young football players between the ages of 13 and 17. Results: The results of the study showed that the mental well-being among youth football players is overall good, where large parts of the participants experienced good mental well-being and only a small part experienced poorer mental well-being, which indicates that a small degree of football players may have indications of mental illness. The results also showed a positive relationship between psychological needs satisfaction and mental well-being. Discussion: The results of the study are consistent with previous research and with Basic Psychological Needs Theory. The mental well-being in youth football is generally good. More studies are needed within the field of mental illness to contribute to a deeper understanding of the concept. Qualitative research could help contribute to this by collecting more personal interpretations of the subject.

Quantifying human needs? : A case study of the Swedish disability policy concerning personal assistance support for basic needs

Lock, Sara-Lina January 2021 (has links)
This case study aimed to do a critical, intersectional, policy analysis of a disability policy regarding personal assistance support for basic human needs in everyday life. In January 2019, a comprehensive preparatory report about new suggestions was presented by the Swedish Government. This caused many reactions from disability rights organisations. One particular topic became heated and criticized in the debates, namely interpretations of the legal texts about personal assistance support concerning help with breathing and nutrition feeding. I have analysed interpretations of this legal text in the preparatory report, referral response and its result in the Government bill. The analysis shows problematic, normative understandings about the body and how a specific integrity demand have affected whether a person has been entitled to personal assistance to support their basic needs. Cost efficiency, quantification, and measurable goals are increasingly visible in the Swedish welfare society. People with disabilities and their entitlement to assistance have decreased for the sake of productivity and cost reductions. An intersectional perspective of the policy’s legal texts illustrates how it lacks an essential understanding of human values. There is a need for a deeper perspective of empathy to see that basic human needs are non-measurable.

A qualitative study on social workers' experiences of drug treatment for people with harmful use and- or addiction problems

Olsson, Marit January 2023 (has links)
Abstract: Social Services offers needs-proven help- and support measures to people who need to get out of their addiction. Öppenvård (needs-proven individual help- and support intervention, through social services) is one of the Social Services' voluntary efforts aimed at adults with harmful use and or addiction problems. The substance abuse treatment that takes place at Öppenvården is of a conversational nature in the form of addiction counsellors giving clients advice and support. The study has been conducted with qualitative semi-structured interviews in one of the largest municipalities in southern Skåne, in which one section manager and six social workers have participated. The purpose of the study is to analyze social workers' experiences of addiction treatment at Öppenvården. The study analyzes the social workers' perceptions of the clients' ability to change, what conditions are required to be able to achieve a change, and how the social workers consider this to be possible. This is to be able to highlight and identify any difficulties that the social workers and their clients face in the change process. The results of the study show that success in the change process is equally dependent on the social workers' efforts and level of knowledge, the clients' attitude to lifestyle change, and the clients' conditions around their life situation. Alliance and relationship building, a secure housing situation and basic needs are important for a successful change process. In the social workers' description of the concept of change, I have found six different categories in their recipes for change: non-timed, wanting to seek help on their own, awareness, change of thought, motivation, as well as progression in a positive direction.

The Leipzig leadership model: Fostering its application in research, practice, and teaching

Feser, Maximilian 01 August 2024 (has links)
Published at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management in 2016, the Leipzig Leadership Model (LLM) postulates a framework of good leadership. Building on a basic-need centric persperctive, the LLM takes a novel approach in response to the continuously intensifying call for integrative theories across leadership research. Consequently, leadership is no longer conceptualized along often reductionistic dichotomies of, e.g., task vs. people, or leadership vs. management. Instead, the LLM defines leadership through its contribution. As such contributions are subjectively percieved along basic need-dimensions, the LLM is able to theoretically derive holicity for its conceptualisation of leadership’s role. This dissertation encompasses two empirical papers as well as one teaching case study aimed to foster the LLM’s applicability in research, practice, and teaching. To that end, my co-authors and I not only developed and validated a LLM-based scale in both a German and an English version, but further tested the real-world micro-level impact of subjective employees’ perceptions of their own organization’s contribution to society with regards to its capacity of fostering flow experience in a longitudinal design. Finally, a teaching case study was designed in order to illustrate and showcase real-world implications of applying a LLM-perspective to leadership utilizing the 2015 scandal surrounding the Volkswagen AG and international emission controls specifically in diesel motors.

Diens as kommunikasievoertuig van die evangelie in 'n post-apartheid samelewing

Kruger, Johannes Stephanus 06 1900 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / Apartheid is verby. / Apartheid is a thing of the past. The new South Africa has dawned. But that does not mean that the "old" South Africa has disappeared. The "old" South Africa is still present. We are the inheritors of apartheid and have to live with the scars of apartheid. Poverty, joblessness, a shortage of housing and violence and crime are an integral part of the post-apartheid society and cannot be wished away. The church is called upon to communicate the gospel to all people in society. In a post-apartheid society it is important that in this process of communication, the gospel is seen and experienced in deeds of service. Deeds of service are thus central in this study. This study entails service of believers as communication vehicles of the gospel in a post-apartheid society. Derived from the needs of people in the post-apartheid society two deeds of service are identified which are essential in the communication of the gospel. These are empowerment and reconciliation. A large part of the society previously had no power on the economical and political fronts - therefore deeds of service that cultivate empowerment are essential. In this process economic, social and psychological empowerment plays an important role. And because people were separated and isolated on the ground of skin colour, people need to be reconciliated. In the process of establishing reconciliation among people, it has to be recognised that responsibility, confession of guilt, restitution, affirmative action, listening to people's stories and forgiveness have an important role. From a Christian perspective the service of the believer in a post-apartheid society is orientated to the service of Jesus Christ. His service serves as an example to all his followers. Because believers are followers of Christ, they are all his instruments of service. For this service believers are edified in their local churches by community (koinonia) and equipped by the spiritual leaders to be of service to people in the society. / Philosophy, Practical & Systematic Theology / D.
