Previous issue date: 2009-05-14 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The path of references to work in this study includes, initially, the texts by Freud Group Psychology and the Analysis of the Ego (1921) and Civilization and its Discontents (1930). Secondly, the references about the so called perverse setting will be used to discuss the instrumentalisation of the neurotic phantom in the tie which announces the miracle of having the father s supposed knowledge as a known fact. It allows this knowledge to be shared in the tie: a way out of the neurosis or the possibility of a complete suture. This setting would be an appropriation of the capitalist logic in the tie. Therefore, the theory of the four discourses by Lacan developed in the Seminar book 17, The Other Side of Psychoanalysis, will be taken as a tool developed by Lacan to deal with four formalizations of the social tie: the discourse of the master, the discourse of the hysteric, the discourse of the university and the discourse of the analyst. The presented path describes the first part of this study. In the second part, we propose to hold a discussion about our main question and objective: the discourse of the capitalist pointed by Lacan as a corruption of the discourse of the master that would painfully come to hold the hegemonic tie of our times. The aim of this study is to analyze the discourse of the capitalist as a fallacious tie with objects produced by techno-science, gadgets, in the current speech which were called latusas by Lacan. These objects would formalize the promise of a weak and impossible suture of the lack, promise of a complete happiness in the tie. The discourse of the capitalist would be an ill turn to the desiring subject, then. Hence, we ask: Could we think of a promise of a happiness covering up to the subject through object? The subject covered up by techno-science objects in the misleading of our times. Misleading in the sense of the discourse of the capitalist producing a (dis)course referring to the discontents inherent to the human in the tie by the trial of extinguishing the lack: violence in the elision of the ingrained hole of the desiring subject. That would be the instrumentalization of neurotic phantom in the tie trough the discourse of the capitalist. Thus, we ask: how does human survive in the now existing setting of me-more-all-always-the best-too much-even more ?

Previous issue date: 2013-07-05 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The current thesis has as object of study the particularities of those developmentalist projects, present in the history of the evolution of Brazilian capitalism as well as its implications in Social Work and its professional projects. Under the lights of the political economy as a method, it departs from the assumption that the relationships established between State and the social classes are the hard core through which circulate the legitimacy and the social orientation of Social Work as a participating profession of the social and technical division of monopolist capitalism. That way, it recovers the evolution of the socio-historical debate on State not only as a category of critical analysis but also as an instrument that makes concrete the class interests through the collation to the Political Science canon as well as to the sociological and economic thoughts taken as universal. It also lends itself to the analysis of such fields of knowledge in its Brazilian version in order to induce to a totalizing perspective that does not abstain from listing the general and particular elements of the phenomenon in question. It regards the developmentalist projects as moments of synthesis of the evolutionary process of the national capitalism with special emphasis on the current cycle of accumulation in which there is a debate on the existence or not of a neo-developmentalist project whose deployments hold in check the reconfiguration of the private job market of Social Work as well as its ways of producing knowledge, analysis of the reality and ethical-political orientations, in its daily anti-systemic struggle / A presente tese tem como objeto de estudo as particularidades dos projetos desenvolvimentistas contidos na história da evolução do capitalismo brasileiro e suas implicações para o Serviço Social e seus projetos profissionais.

The Entrepreneur and the venture capitalist in the territorial system of innovation : Applied research on the French competitiveness clusters in Lyon Grenoble and Chambéry.Perrin Boulonne, Hélène 03 December 2018 (has links)
In a context where new firms, innovation and the development of innovative region are a main concern of both national and regional public policies, the question of their articulation remains in debate. In the literature, many papers study either the contribution of venture capital to the emergence of clusters and their development or the contribution of the entrepreneur to the economic development of a territory. The relationship between these actors associated with innovation and the territory is rarely studied. The main objective of this thesis is to show that the venture capitalist and the entrepreneur are two essential elements of the functioning of innovative territories; and that there is a two-way relationship between these actors and the territory. Namely, innovative territories are favorable to the presence of entrepreneurs and venture capitalists and to the well-functioning of their relationship. In return, entrepreneurs associated with venture capitalists in a duo generate positive externalities for the territory and enrich the knowledge base of the territory. In this thesis, we study the venture capitalist-entrepreneur relationship from the point of view of a duo that produces resources for the territory, called the "venture capitalist-entrepreneur duo" that we define as the set of interactions, networking and mutual learning between venture capitalists and entrepreneurs. To go beyond the duo's contribution to economic development in term of firms' creation. We analyse the duo's contribution to territorial knowledge capital, which is defined as the knowledge base produced, possessed and used by the set of local enterprises and institutions. The approaches mobilized to build the theoretical framework of the thesis are integrated in the economic and managerial theories of the entrepreneur, the innovation and the territory. The empirical analysis is based on the competitiveness clusters of Lyon Grenoble Chambéry (LGC). The choice of the competitiveness clusters has been justified by a statistical analysis. A quantitative database has been built for this purpose. It brings together consolidated information on 172 new firms in the seven clusters concerned, on the innovation processes and on the venture capital financing of these firms. The analysis is also based on the completion of two qualitative surveys within 15 entrepreneurs and 12 venture capitalists. The quantitative analysis shows that the process of transforming knowledge into firms by entrepreneurs works within LGC's competitiveness clusters. Venture capitalists are very active among entrepreneurs in the clusters and enable the transformation of knowledge into new firms. The clusters promote the linking of entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. The relastionship between entrepreneur and venture capitalist is based on the financial interest, the trust, and the search for the success of the firms. It bases its functioning on networking, learning and interactions. Entrepreneurs and venture capitalists share knowledge. Entrepreneurs and VCs produce codified scientific and technical knowledge as measured by patents and tacit knowledge that provides a local knowledge base on venture capital and creates tools to improve the relationship functioning. The thesis shows the advantage that venture capitalists may have in syndicating formally and informally, and the importance of creating local synergies between entrepreneurs. With regard to public policies, the thesis shows the interest for public actors to promote all the actions allowing the connections and the collaborations between venture capitalists and entrepreneurs in the clusters of competitiveness with a view to fulfill the objective of not only producing knowledges but also products.

Previous issue date: 2011-09-13 / CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The present work aims at seeking to comprehend the relations and contradictions
between the democratic school management and the total quality existing in Manaus
city municipal schools. The study took place through critical historic focus, with the
use of field research, with a qualitative approach in which it developed, transcribed,
and analyzed semi structured interviews with principles, teachers, and parents in four
different municipal schools from Manaus city, on the perspective to understand the
conceptions of such people regarding democratic school management and the
influence by the capitalist system on the systematic management of Brazilian
education. With the research it is possible to perform a partial analysis from the
acquired data from the interviews and from this one affirm that the principals have
demonstrated confusion about the concept of what is democratic school
management, relating it to terms that are appropriate to business management. It
was possible to also realize that the researched school principals do not have
autonomy what concerns their own financial, administration, and academic
organization, and they have a dependence of the Education Municipal Secretariat. It
was also evident that the adopted practices by the principles are always based on a
power relation. What concerns the teachers’ conception, there is always a relation of
subordination to guidelines that are established by the school system. Summarizing,
it is possible to affirm that although the democratic management experiences seen in
this research, are still distant from the ideal, as for instance, a model that considers
the decisive participation, dialogue practices and tolerance, discussions on such
different practices are important as an attempt to consolidate democratic school
management, which truly takes in consideration ideas plurality, values, behaviors that
are inherent to a social organization, thereby causing the need of new researches on
the topic in matter.
abordagem qualitativa, no qual desenvolveu, transcreveu e analisou entrevistas
gestão democrática presenciadas nesta pesquisa estejam ainda distantes do ideal

Portfolio Company Selection Criteria: Accelerators vs Venture CapitalistsChang, Cody 01 January 2013 (has links)
The explosive growth of ‘accelerators’ in the United States has given entrepreneurs and their startups the opportunity to pursue seed-stage financing. While the specific economic role of accelerators remains unclear, a study comparing the selection of portfolio companies between accelerators and venture capitalists was performed. A difference of means was performed on the responses per question between the collected 19 accelerators’ response and the 100 venture capitalists’ response, recorded from a prior study. It is found that venture capitalists place significantly more weight, than accelerators, on the potential of the startup’s product or service to be proprietary, to enter a high-growth market with little threat of competition within the first 3 years, and to deliver a high financial return within 5 to 10 years. The results also indicate that both accelerators and venture capitalists emphasize different attributes of the entrepreneur and venture team when considering selection.

Power And Decline In The British And American Hegemonies: A Wallersteinian AnalysisKocak, Yunus Emre 01 December 2006 (has links) (PDF)
The concept of hegemony has been an important subject in the 1970s as the US hegemonic position has entered into a decline period. This study aims to underline that the ongoing decline of US hegemony shares substantial analogies with the decline of British hegemony in the late 19th century. As the hegemonic economy enters into contraction period, it starts to experience financial expansion. Today, the US hegemony is in the midst of such an orientation toward the financialization. The study analyzes the historical changes within both hegemonic cases by direct references to the world-system theory and construct a comparative perspective in production, commerce and finance domains respectively to support these arguments.

Globalization, Transnationalization And Imperialism: Evaluation Of Sociology Of Agriculture And Food In The Case Of TurkeyBuke, Atakan 01 December 2008 (has links) (PDF)
This study aims to evaluate conceptual considerations of the sociology of agriculture and food from inside and outside of the literature in relation to transnationalization and its claim on the emergence of a transnational state. Although the history of the literature can be traced back to mid-1970s, its development corresponds to 1990s which is also the period that witnessed the hegemony of the concept of globalization in social sciences. This study argues that the claim on transnationalization reflects the intimate relationship of sociology of agriculture and food with the globalist interpretation of the concept of globalization or globalization theory which suffers from methodological and theoretical problems mainly in relation to the analysis of immanent contradictions and distinctive features of capitalism. With the criticism of the concepts of globalization and transnationalization, this study aims to break the intimate relationship of the sociology of agriculture and food with the globalization theory and suggests that the concept of imperialism is a powerful analytical concept in comprehending the transformation of capitalist relations, particularly the agrifood relations since late 1970s. In other words, this study aims to reevaluate the concepts (agrifood system and food regime) and problematics formulated in the sociology of agriculture and food literature within the theoretical framework based on the concept of capitalist imperialism exemplified in the analysis of transformation of agrifood relations since 1980 in the case of Turkey.

Privatization Of Security And The Transformation Of The Modern Bourgeois State In The Neoliberal Era: The Case Of TurkeyDolek, Caglar 01 July 2011 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis problematizes the phenomenon of privatization of security within the context of the neoliberal transformation of the capitalist state in Turkey. On the basis of the critique of neo-Weberian and Foucauldian literatures, it attempts to construct its peculiar theoretical-historical pathway on the relationship between state-coercion-class. It problematizes the historical constitution of this relationship within the context of the historical specificity of the capitalist state power. In this regard, the formation of the public police in the 19th century is discussed as an important, albeit contradictory, aspect of the materialization of this specificity. Furthermore, it is asserted that it was a reformative movement within which class practices of private provision of security were not totally eliminated, but incorporated into the impartially presented institutional materiality of the modern bourgeois state in and through class struggles. On this basis, the thesis discusses the privatization of security in Turkey as a contradictory transformation determined by the tension between the alleged impartiality and class nature of the state. It critically analyzes the historical period from the 1960s to the 2000s to identify different dynamics of transformation in terms of the privatization of security and institutional restructuring of the state. Within this framework, it argues that the institutionalization of private security in Turkey has signalled a trend towards the fusion of state power and class power in a new form with novel contradictions.
