Cleber José Nascimento 03 July 2014 (has links)
The goal of this work is to show the importance of Christian theological philosophical ethics for the exercise of the profession of accountant, in generating and producing information, through the data related to the accounting fact, as well as its importance for society, especially in the business and political spheres. The concept of theological-philosophical reflection of ethics was described as a moral science, associating these concepts with the context of the work of the professional accountant, as well as with ethical issues in the exercise of the profession and of the individual ethics which govern human behavior. The methodology utilized made use of bibliographical research in specific literature, contained in books and articles on the theme. Through the study it could be observed that the Christian theological-philosophical ethic presupposes themes and certain duties which individuals have toward their equals, in daily life, and that the ethical reflection is, in great measure, conditioned by traditions, habits and customs of the context of which the thinking subject is part as a social being. It was verified that it is necessary for the professional accountant to carry out his/her role in an ethical manner, without this meaning the loss of his/her autonomous capacity to reflect about the concrete and sporadic problems, since the activity of the accountant is characterized, fundamentally, by providing services, which constitute furnishing information and evaluations of physical, economic and financial nature, about the patrimony of businesses and also of persons. In this way the task of reflective ethical exercise is imposed on the professional accountant according to the norms dictated by the legal exercise of the profession, so as to not succumb to the organizational logics of pure financialization interest which has dominated the globalization processes of the last three decades.

Virtue and vice: the personal application of epistolary ethical lists in their historical, canonical, and hermeneutical contexts

French, John William 30 November 2003 (has links)
Interpretation of Scripture is not complete until it has been applied. Virtue and Vice examines the personal application of New Testament ethical lists. Catalogues of virtue and vice were common modes of instruction for both Greco-Roman philosophers and the rabbis of Hellenistic Judaism. New Testament writers also used this method to teach Christian morality. Their theological perspective and worldview, however, came from the Old Testament and its fulfilment in Jesus, the Messiah. In context, the NT ethical lists instruct, motivate, warn, and guide Christians toward right behaviour and harmonious relationships. The lists occur as one mode of instruction in larger paraenetic material. They must therefore be studied as sub-genres of these larger units. The classic list of Philippians 4:8 provides a guide to moral discernment (and action) that preserves the unity of the congregation in the humility of Christ. Personal application takes places in a biblical theological framework. The interpretation of a passage is viewed within the overall biblical progress of God's redemptive purposes. Biblical theology also assists the student to position himself/herself in relation to the passage under study. The literary nature of scriptural texts makes it necessary to distinguish the abiding theological principles from the merely cultural or occasional. A principle can be re-applied in a parallel contemporary context. Different genres (such as ethical lists) suggest ways to apply the text. For instance, ethical lists serve as ideals and examples of Christian conduct. The personal dynamics of faith in Christ, dependence upon the Holy Spirit, and a continual process of obedience contribute to the relevance of the text. These three together give the confidence that God's Word may be both understood and lived with fresh power for today. Several of the catalogues occur in contexts of Christian unity in the midst of ethnic and social diversity (Gal. 5:16-25;Eph. 4-6;Phil. 4:8;Col. 3:1-17). They depict an ideal of oneness in Christ between Jew and Gentile. This new identity in Christ does not remove, but transcends ethnic and status differences in local congregations. Models for intentionally implementing Christian unity are assimilation, diversity, and networking. / Systematic Theology / D.Th.

Jones, Chris, 1959- 10 1900 (has links)
Ten opsigte van hierdie sake word die mens deurgaans in die Skrif opgeroep om God in sy optrede teenoor sy medemens, dier en plant te vergestalt / Human rights is a matter which has come strongly to the fore since the Second World War with its wholesale destruction and chaos. It was especially foreign, but also internal accusations of racism and apartheid in our country which gave rise to negotiations to draw up a charter of human rights for all the inhabitants of our country. The historical development of human rights in important Western countries, but also in a socialist context, provides important perspectives for an understanding of the matter. Unfortunately the voice of the church was not heard on this matter for many years. The Dutch Reformed Church has also seen it as a liberal, humanist and communist attack on their "true" scriptural understanding of life. Because so many people make their decisions in terms of their faith, clarity is sought on this matter in the Biblical concepts of justice, human dignity and freedom. Certain hermeneutical problems are considered to arrive at an accurate understanding of the Biblical message. As a result of the above-mentioned chain of events, the government appointed a Law Commission to draw up a bill of human rights. The emphasis in this draft bill of rights which is laid on various first generation rights at the expense of essential socio-economic rights, which are so important to many black inhabitants of our country, is critically evaluated. In contrast, in its proposed bill of rights, the ANC emphasises this so-called second generation rights and affirmative action in a realistic way. It is found that this is the most complete and appropriate document of its kind in our country, because it was written from a situation which thoroughly takes account of the distinctive needs of the Blacks. The whole matter of human rights brings the matter of animal- and plant-rights to the fore. A view on the politics of the environment which prioritizes the socio-economic interests of the people at the cost of nature conservation, is discussed. With regard to these matters humankind is called upon throughout the Scriptures to manifest God in their conduct towards their fellow-man, animals and plants / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / D. Th. (Teologiese etiek)

Diógenes Braga Ramos 30 March 2005 (has links)
This dissertation offers an analysis of sermons preached in the Independent Presbyterian Church of Brazil (IPIB) in search of its theological profile. The first chapter presents IPIB's history, from its theological origins in Calvin until its constitution, highlighting the North American influence on the theology of IPIB. The second chapter explains the methodology by which the sermons will be analysed. Ethics in a Reformed perspective was chosen as the discussion's parameter. Finally, selected sermons are investigated in this ethical perspective, contrasting them with IPIB' s history, together with the official documents of this church. As a hypothesis, two groups acting within IPIB are identified, an evangelical-charismatic and an ecumenical one. It is also noted that it is not possible to construct an ethics within IPIB merely in calvinist terms, without renewing it in the light of an inclusive hermeneutics centred in Jesus Christ.

Backlund, Viktor January 2018 (has links)
This thesis will discuss the ethical demands that are given by Stanley Hauerwas and William Schweiker in their theory about Christian ethics. The question at issue being discussed is which ethical demands to act good is revealed in Hauerwas and Schweikers understanding of Christian ethics and do they put a stronger demand on Christians to act good? This thesis finds out that both of them put some special ethical demands for Christians that are not the same as to other people. In their writing about the special claims for Christians, when it comes to moral behavior, they have their own way of understanding what these claims are. Hauerwas claims that Christians should act good because of Jesus Christ. To learn to be like him humans need to develop their virtues in a community of virtues. The church is the place where your person and character can develop in a certain way. This view is, according to this thesis, not reasonable in a world with global dynamics. Schweiker claims that the agent and his actions have a special relation and that humans as agents needs to take responsibility and use it as a moral imperative. For Christians responsibility gets more important because of their belief. Schweiker presents an ethic that is both reasonable and applicable to other worldviews in a world with global dynamics.

O rio, a cidade e o poeta: impasses e contradições na poesia de João Cabral de Melo Neto / The river, the city and the poet: dilemmas and contradictions in the poetry of João Cabral de Melo Neto

Thaís Mitiko Taussig Toshimitsu 12 March 2010 (has links)
The poetry of João Cabral de Melo Neto suffers from a lack of definition of place. Therefore, this study seeks to specify the social place occupied by the lyric self in the authors work and, from this, define his aesthetic plan, guided by the contrasting of popular forms and their opposite the most sophisticated art forms of his time, representing rationality instead of tradition. The two faces of his poetry, which for so long time were understood as two independent branches of his poetics, are seen as definitions that articulate dependently. The common vertex originates in the poets awareness of Brazils condition as an underdeveloped country. Cabral first attempts to incorporate popular culture, seeking to reduce the gap between the countrys social classes. Then he includes in the poem the forms of modernization through which the country was being transformed, trying to make the poem a gesture of rigorous intervention on the local material. Rationality, therefore, is presented in his poetry as a new alternative to underdevelopment.
