The Reciprocal Influence between Individuals’ Perceptions of Spouse’s Attachment and Marital Satisfaction

Ge, Feiran 18 March 2015 (has links)
There is a large body of research documenting the link between individuals’ perceptions of partners’ traits and relationship satisfaction (Simpson, Fillo, & Myers, 2012). Prior work indicates that both accurate understanding and idealized perception of partners’ traits are associated with greater relationship satisfaction (e.g., Luo & Snider, 2009). However, research in this area has predominantly focused on the impact of partner perception on relationship satisfaction. There is very limited evidence on whether relationship satisfaction in turn affects partner perception. The present study followed newlywed heterosexual couples during their first 2-3 years of marriage and examined the relations between individuals’ perceptions of spouses’ attachment style and marital satisfaction over time using two waves of data. Using cross-lagged structural equation models, the study finds that individuals’ greater satisfaction significantly predicted their greater accuracy in tracking their partner’s anxiety, lower accuracy in tracking their partner’s avoidance, increased positive illusions of their partner’s avoidance, and their partner’s decreased positive illusions of individuals’ avoidance one year later. Furthermore, individuals’ greater positive illusions of their partner’s anxiety and avoidance led to their partner’s increased satisfaction and individuals’ decreased satisfaction down the line, respectively. Potential explanations for contradictory results between anxiety and avoidance are discussed at length. The study extends the literature by investigating the directionality of the link between partner perception and relationship outcomes using cross-lagged models in a longitudinal design.

The Sutras as Poetry: Wang Wei's Use of Buddhist Philosophy as Poetic Image

Zhang, Yan 01 September 2020 (has links)
The present academic studies on Wang Wei usually focus on his landscape poems and claim that these landscape poems imply Buddhism. Their methods usually analyze Wang Wei’s Buddhist tendencies from his life experience. But it needs more textual analysis to prove that the relationship between his poem and Buddhism. The Introduction section provides the relationship between the Buddhist principles and Wang Wei’s Buddhist poems. The Buddhist principles were figuratively represented in Wang Wei’s poems by describing certain images from Buddhist Sutras. Chapter 1 presents the analysis of the couplets of each Buddhist poem through their connection to Buddhist doctrines. Chapter 2 summarizes the characteristics of Wang Wei’s Buddhist poems and emphasizes the use of Buddhist philosophy as a poetic image.

The Impact of Social Distancing and Loneliness on Adolescents' Mental Health During Covid-19

Barbieri, Marielena 20 October 2021 (has links)
The COVID-19 pandemic has severely limited physical interaction (e.g., school closures, 6ft- distances, quarantine) and disrupted the daily lives of adolescents which likely heightened levels of perceived loneliness and internalizing symptomology. Due to the novelty of social distancing regulations caused by COVID-19, little is known about the role that loneliness plays in the association between stress from social distancing regulations and adherence to these regulations, and later difficulties with internalizing symptoms. The current study examined the impact of social distancing regulations on adolescents’ wellbeing through perceived loneliness by using data from a 5-week longitudinal survey-based study conducted on parents and adolescents (aged 14-17) amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, this thesis examined how social distancing adherence and stress influenced adolescents’ loneliness, ultimately impacting their subsequent internalizing symptoms (i.e., depression and anxiety). To determine if there was a stress-buffering effect of close relationships (i.e., emotional support and conflict), moderators of links between social distancing, perceived loneliness, and internalizing symptoms were examined. Findings provided evidence that loneliness plays a unique mediating link between social distancing and internalizing symptoms. Further, preliminary evidence of specific sources of resiliency and risk in adolescents’ close relationships during the pandemic were found. Overall, the present study highlights how social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted adolescents’ well-being during a developmental period considered a turning point for psychopathology.

Topologická optimalizace pohyblivé, pevné a základní desky elektromechanického vstřikolisu / Topology optimization of movable, fixed and based plate of electromechanical injection-moulding machine

Kecík, Samuel January 2019 (has links)
The master thesis deals with the design of geometry of plates of the injection molding unit using the FEM tool Topological Optimization. The reason for this is to reduce the weight of these components, which is beneficial in the transport and assembly of the injection molding machine. However, the final models of geometry of plates must meet certain requirements in terms of the limit state of deformation, the limit state to the critical value of the equivalent stress. This condition involves both limit state of elasticity and limit state of fatigue. Computational modeling and also Topological Optimization are performed in ANSYS Workbench.

Testování přesnosti mobilní fotogrammetrie / Accuracy testing of mobile photogrammetry

Otrusinová, Jana January 2020 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with a construction of a calibration field in the area of the AdMaS research centre (Brno University of Technology). Furthermore, photogrammetric data from the Riegl VMX-450 mobile mapping system has been acquired and processed. Selected points of the calibration field were used as control points. The other points of the calibration field were used as check points. As part of the testing, the coordinate deviations at the check points were assessed. The difference between the accuracy of mobile laser scanning and mobile photogrammetry was also evaluated. Coordinate deviations of mobile photogrammetry were tested according to standard ČSN 01 3410. Furthermore, a point cloud and a textured 3D model were generated.

Kombinace laserových a snímkových dat z mobilního mapovacího systému / Combination of laser and image data from a mobile mapping system

Stránská, Petra January 2021 (has links)
The diploma thesis describes the data integration of data from different 3D technologies, specifically data of close range photogrammetry, aerial photogrammetry using RPAS and terrestrial laser scanning. The thesis deals mainly with fotogrammetric processing in ContextCapture software and data integration in this software. The thesis also describes a construction of a calibration field. The points of the field were used as ground control points and check points during processing. The accuracy of the outputs was evaluated by statistical testing of the coordinate deviations of the control points. The result of the thesis is 3D model of one of the buildings located in the AdMaS research center.

Exploring the impact of professional training on the close personal relationships of student clinical psychologists

Gouveia, Joanne Ailsa January 2017 (has links)
There is a rich body of literature that details the effects therapists have on their patients. Little attention has, however, been given to the impact of training and working as a professional psychologist on the close personal relationships (CPR) of practitioners. The aim of this study was to explore the subjective experience of the impact of clinical psychology training on trainee psychologists' intrapersonal development and subsequently their CPR in the South African context. Three key relationships the trainees' relationships with their family, friends and romantic partners were the focus of the research. Seven second year clinical psychology master's students were selected using non-probability, purposive sampling to participate in individual semi-structured interviews. Interviews were recorded, transcribed verbatim and thematic analysis was used to identify and analyse themes in the data both within and across the seven interviews. Six main themes were identified and the findings indicate the participants perceive the impact of training on their CPR to be primarily beneficial. This is despite experiencing difficulties in some of their relationships as a result of training. Relationships with romantic partners benefitted from improved communication and some became deeper and more meaningful, although two ended. Participants faced both gains and losses in terms of friends while the intensity and shared experience of training rapidly made classmate relationships extremely important and close. Some participants gained a better understanding of family members and their family's functioning. Training also opened up some relationships by providing a point of connection between certain participants and their parents. The participants rely significantly on all their CPR for social support but support from family is most salient. Finally some implications for training were evoked by the interwoven nature of personal and professional development demonstrated by the study. / Mini Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2017. / Psychology / MA / Unrestricted

Sjuksköterskors upplevelse av mötet med närstående vid plötsligt dödsfall : En litteraturöversikt / The purpose of this literature review was to investigate nurses' experience of meeting with relatives in the event of a sudden death. : A literature review

Karolina, Delkiewicz, Ann, Lithén January 2019 (has links)
I resultatdiskussionen tillämpades Joyce Travelbee´s omvårdnadsteori. / Background:A sudden death is often due to illness, accident, murder or suicide. In 2017, it is estimated that approximately 10 360 people lost their lives earlier than expected. When a person suddenly dies, it usually comes as a shock to the relatives. It has been found that the grieving process for those close to the family can be affected by sudden deaths when they have not been prepared for the death. The kind of clinical encounter they receive immediately after the death is also of great importance. Nurses often have inadequate training in how the relatives should be dealt with in the event of sudden death and studies have shown that the relatives have had both good and bad experiences regarding the clinical encounter. Aim:The purpose of this literature review was to investigate nurses' experience of meeting with relatives in the event of a sudden death. Method:A literature review based on eleven scientific articles, nine qualitative and two quantitative articles. Results:The results revealed that the nurses felt that they had a responsibility for the patient's relatives, despite the fact that many times it was perceived to be a difficult situation and where ethical problems could arise. The majority of the nurses also felt that they lacked knowledge and training in how to deal with relatives. The environment and the lack of resources also often made it difficult to communicate with the relatives. Discussion:The nurse experiences sudden death as a demanding situation in her professional role and is faced with many different ethical aspects and feelings. In addition, meeting relatives in mourning in the event of sudden death is yet another external strain in the nurse's role. In order for the nurse to feel secure in her role, knowledge about attending the grief process is an important part of the profession. In the results discussion, Joyce Travelbee's nursing theory was applied.

"...jag lever hellre såhär än att berätta för andra" : En kvalitativ studie om det sociala nätverkets bemötande och varför kvinnor som utsätts för psykiskt våld i nära relation stannar kvar / ”...I would rather live like this than tell others” : A qualitative study on the influence of women´s social network and why women stay in close relationships where they are subjected to psychological violence

Ivarsson, Maria, Beka Cimili, Hafije January 2020 (has links)
Abstract The purpose of this qualitative study was to answer the questions by interviewing eight women about their experiences: How do women who have been subjected to psychological violence in close relation feel that they have been met by their social network? Why do women stay in relationships where they are subjected to psychological violence? The theoretical framework of the study includes Pierre Bourdieu's concept of social capital and Thomas Scheff's theory of social ties. A gender perspective has been used to map patriarchal structures. The results showed that the weak ties that arise in the relationship lead to the women experiencing shame and fear, which means that they remain in the relationships and that they do not tell the network about the violence. Women are treated to varying degrees but usually with understanding and empathy. It also emerged that the women tended to stay in the relationship if they lacked other people to identify with. How women's living conditions are degraded by destructive relationships is also affected by women's subordination in society. Keywords: Violence in close relationship, psychological violence, social networking, the normalization process, shame, separation
