Is composed for one low cost alternative collector and alternative thermal reservoir for hot water storing. The collector of the system has box confectioned in composite material and use absorption coils formed for PVC tubes. The box of hot water storage was confectioned from a plastic polyethylene drum used for storage of water and garbage, coated for a cylinder confectioned in fiber glass. The principle of functioning of the system is the same of the conventionally. Its regimen of work is the thermosiphon for a volume of 250 liters water. The main characteristic of the system in considered study is its low cost, allowing a bigger socialization of the use of solar energy. It will be demonstrated the viabilities thermal, economic and of materials of the system of considered heating, and its competitiveness in relation to the available collectors commercially. Relative aspects will be boarded also the susceptibility the thermal degradation and for UV for the PVC tubes. It will be shown that such system of alternative heating, that has as main characteristic its low cost, presents viabilities thermal, economic and of materials / Apresenta-se um sistema de aquecimento solar de ?gua, trabalhando em regime de termossif?o, constitu?do por um, coletor solar alternativo e um reservat?rio armazenador de ?gua tamb?m alternativo. O coletor foi constru?do com um material comp?sito a base de gesso e isopor e o reservat?rio t?rmico a partir de um tambor de polietileno de 200 litros utilizado para armazenamento de ?gua e lixo recoberto por um cilindro em fibra de vidro, tendo isopor triturado entre as duas superf?cies. A utiliza??o do comp?sito e a nova forma de obten??o da grade absorvedora permitem que o coletor apresente apenas tr?s elementos ao inv?s dos cinco caracter?sticos de um coletor convencional, diminuindo, portanto o seu custo. It work on a thermosiphon, consisting of one or two alternative collectors and a water storage tank also alternative, whose main purpose is to socialize the use of energy mainly to be used by people of low income. The collectors were built from the use of pets bottles, cans of beer and soft drinks and tubes of PVC, ? " and the thermal reservoirs from a drum of polyethylene used for storage of water and garbage placed inside cylinder of fiber glass and EPS ground between the two surfaces. Such collectors are formed by three elements: pet bottles, cans and tubes absorbers. The heating units, which form the collector contains inside the cans that can be closed, in original form or in the form of plate. The collectors have an absorber grid formed by eight absorbers PVC tube, connected through connections at T of the same material and diameter. It will be presented data of the thermal parameters which demonstrate the efficiency of the heating system proposed. Relative aspects will be boarded also the susceptibility the thermal degradation and for UV for the PVC tubes. It is an empirical research, in which the interactional movement between the University (Social Incubation) and the enterprises assume that there are conflicts caused by the cultural differences among the participants. These differences are represented by the non-scientific type knowledge derived from the participants’ empirical experience, from the practical and religious activities and working techniques, and by the scientific knowledge produced in the University posted as truth. It is a qualitative study. For the data collection, the participative observation constituted fundamental element. Some data were obtained from informal and semi-structured interviews, besides the documental research that was an opportunity to understand the general context of the cooperative societies and the Social Incubation. In this study, it was conceived that the relation established between the participants is not linear and permanent and it demands that the construction of the knowledge must be done in group. That’s how the knowledge among the cooperators goes through changes, significations and resignifications, caused by the dialogical practice needed. The participants’ experiences, perceptions and beliefs are inherent to the construction of knowledge and human capital. The dialogical process assumes knowledge and symbolic exchanges and it is an assumption to the communicational process among those involved. It was clear that in the process of incubation of the enterprises, there is a complexity that demands considerable efforts from the agents of the Incubator and the cooperators. There were difficulties from both parts that were broken. This way, the context of the Social Incubator enabled to think in the performance of the University through the extension, that is still an activity with little involvement and recognition by professors and students. Besides that, there is also the need to overcome capitalism in which universities are inserted into redirection of production of technology and science focusing in popular interests. This is the aspect in which the political relations are still fragile under this study’s reality. / Estudo que analisa a interação significativa entre a Universidade e dois empreendimentos populares autogestionários - cooperativas de materiais recicláveis - localizadas na cidade de Goiânia que fazem parte do programa de Incubação Social da Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG). Trata-se de uma pesquisa empírica na qual o movimento interacional entre a Universidade (Incubadora social) e os empreendimentos incubados pressupõe que há tensionamentos causados pelas diferenças culturais entre os atores envolvidos: os conhecimentos de natureza não científica, provenientes das experiências empíricas dos cooperados, suas atividades práticas, religiosas e técnicas do trabalho, e os conhecimentos científicos produzidos na Universidade posicionados, muitas das vezes como verdade. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo. Para a coleta de dados, a observação participante constituiu-se como um elemento fundamental. Alguns dados foram obtidos com entrevistas informais e semi-estruturadas, além da pesquisa documental que oportunizou entendimento do contexto geral das cooperativas e da incubadora social. No estudo, concebeu-se que a relação que se estabelece entre os atores não é linear e permanente e exige a construção do conhecimento em conjunto. É assim que o conhecimento depois de problematizado entre os cooperados passa por transformações, significações e resignificações, decorrentes da prática dialógica necessária. As experiências, vivências e crenças dos atores envolvidos são imanentes na construção do conhecimento e do capital humano. O processo dialógico pressupõe, trocas de saberes e trocas simbólicas e é premissa do ato comunicacional entre os envolvidos. Ficou evidente que no processo de incubação dos empreendimentos há uma complexidade que demanda esforços consideráveis dos gestores da incubadora e dos cooperados e dificuldades/resistências de ambas as partes que precisam ser rompidas. Concluindo, o contexto da incubadora social possibilitou pensar a atuação da Universidade por meio da extensão que ainda é uma atividade com pouco envolvimento e reconhecimento por parte dos docentes e discentes. Além disso, existe a necessidade de superação do capitalismo no qual as universidades estão inseridas para um redirecionamento de produção de tecnologia e ciência voltadas para interesses populares. É neste aspecto que as relações políticas ainda são frágeis para a realidade em estudo.

Suivi par capteurs passifs des polluants émergents dans les eaux de surface en contexte urbain / Monitoring emerging pollutants in surface waters using in-situ sampling devices in an urban context

L’étude a pour objectif de déterminer la qualité des eaux de surface sous différentes conditions climatiques et pratiques de gestion des eaux de surface. Trois sites ont étés choisis pour: (1) la rivière Jalle de Blanquefort, (2) le lac de Bordeaux, France et (3) la rivière Pasig aux Philippines. Les sites français présentent des collecteurs d'eau qui se déversent directement dans les eaux de surface. La rivière Pasig sert de collecteur d'eaux usées en l’absence de stations de traitement des eaux usées et collectées. Au cours des campagnes de mesure, il a été possible de suivre l’impact de la variabilité climatique (pluviométrie) et d’événements aléatoires sur la qualité chimiques (éléments traces métalliques et polluants organiques) des eaux ; en combinant échantillonnage classique et par capteurs passifs. Les propriétés physico-chimiques de l'eau ainsi que les caractéristiques des particules et l'utilisation d'analyses statistiques permettent de préciser le comportement des molécules détectées et de décrire l’evolution hydrochimique des eaux de surface urbaines et estuariennes vis-à-vis d’aléas climatiques contrastés. / The study aimed to assess the water quality of the surface water in differingclimate conditions and management practices. Three interesting sites were chosen, (1)Jalle River and (2) Bordeaux Lac both in France and the (3) Pasig River in thePhilippines. The French sites have rainfall and run-off collectors that directly dischargewater to the water bodies. Pasig River, on the other hand, becomes a waste collector aswaste management and treatment plant are lacking. Trace metals and organics(pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals and drugs) were measured. Conventional andpassive sampling approches were employed. The mass fluxes were obtained in order tocalculate the pollution transport. Physico-chemical properties and the particlecharacteristics, integrating statistical analyses, facilitated in explaining the behavior of themeasured molecules and describing the hydrological system in relation to climatevariability.

Pourquoi tant d’objets d’art décoratifs de collections européennes se trouvent-ils aujourd’hui dispersés aux quatre coins des Etats-Unis ? A partir de documents d’archives inédits et d’une lecture critique des sources, cette thèse appréhende l’exode du patrimoine européen vers les Etats-Unis du début du vingtième siècle à travers le parcours d’acteurs importants de ce phénomène : les marchands Joel, Henry et Joseph Duveen à la tête de la prestigieuse galerie d’objets d’art et de tableaux, Duveen Frères, établie à Londres et New York dès la fin du dix-neuvième siècle et en 1908 à Paris. Sont d’abord étudiés les stratégies commerciales qui projetèrent les Duveen à la première place du commerce d’objets d’art de l’époque (I). Vient ensuite une analyse précise du commerce d’objets d’art de la firme : celui des porcelaines de Chine, puis des meubles et objets d’art du dix-huitième siècle français et enfin des objets médiévaux et de la Renaissance (II). Finalement, est abordé, l’activité de décorateur de la firme (III). / Why are so many European objets d’art found in collections across the United States today ? This PhD dissertation explores the exodus of decorative arts objects originating from the private collections of Europe’s cultural elite at the beginning of the twentieth century by providing a new interpretation of unpublished archival materials and an in-depth study of the three key figures who contributed to this phenomenon : Joel, Henry, and Joseph Duveen of Duveen Brothers, the prestigious international art firm established in London and New York at the close of the nineteenth century, and in Paris in 1908. Beginning with an examination of the strategies employed by Duveen Brothers to monopolize the American art market and become the preeminent dealers of their time (I), this thesis is followed by a meticulously researched exploration of their dealings in Chinese porcelains, eighteenth-century French decorative arts, and medieval and Renaissance art (II), and concludes with a thorough analysis of the firm’s activities in the area of interior decoration (III).

Évaluation de l'exposition aux microorganismes des chauffeurs de camion et des éboueurs responsables du transport des matières résiduelles et des déchets

Les travailleurs impliqués dans la gestion des matières résiduelles domestiques sont continuellement exposés à des bioaérosols pouvant entrainer des problèmes de santé de nature infectieux, allergène et cancérigène. Le but de cette étude était d’évaluer l’exposition aux bioaérosols des éboueurs et des chauffeurs de camion durant la collecte des déchets et des matières résiduelles à Montréal par une analyse multimétrique et multimédia. Les conditions de travail ont été évalués dans six camions (2 recyclages, 2 organiques et 2 domestiques). Pour chaque camion, des mesures ambiantes (cabine du chauffeur) et des mesures dans la zone respiratoire d’un collecteur et d’un chauffeur ont été réalisées. Des prélèvements sur la surface des sièges des chauffeurs ont aussi été effectués et les filtres à air de l’habitacle des camions ont été évalués. Les échantillons ont été analysés au laboratoire microbiologique de l’IRSST selon la méthode par culture microbienne et la méthode moléculaire Droplet Digital PCR. Les résultats indiquent que les collecteurs sont généralement les plus exposés aux bioaérosols. Les collecteurs des déchets domestiques étaient notamment les plus exposés avec des concentrations moyennes pour les bactéries (27 000 UFC/m3), les endotoxines (100 UE/m3) et les moisissures (5 900 UFC/m3) excédant les recommandations sanitaires. Néanmoins, les collecteurs du compost étaient les plus exposés aux moisissures (6 800 UFC/m3). E.coli et A.fumigatus ont été détectés dans tous nos échantillons avec des expositions plus importantes pour les travailleurs du domestique. De plus, les sièges des chauffeurs des camions domestiques avaient les niveaux de contamination les plus élevés. La concentration moyenne de A.fumigatus (2 500 UG/m3) dans l’air de ces camions était supérieure à celle des camions de recyclage et de compost. Les résultats des filtres n’ont pas permis de tirer de conclusions quant à l’exposition des chauffeurs aux bioaérosols. Les résultats de cette recherche ont permis de mettre en évidence que l’exposition des travailleurs lors de la collecte des déchets pourrait être influencée par le type de déchets, le poste de travail ainsi que les tâches exécutées. Cette étude confirme le potentiel élevé d’exposition aux bioaérosols des travailleurs attitrés au transport des matières résiduelles et des déchets. Elle valide aussi le besoin de réduire les expositions professionnelles par diverses stratégies, y compris les procédures de nettoyage de la cabine et l’utilisation d’équipement de protection respiratoire lors de tâches génératrices de bioaérosols (nettoyage des camions au jet, déchargement des camions). / Workers involved in the management of household residual materials are continuously exposed to bioaerosols which can cause them health problems of an infectious, allergenic and carcinogenic nature. The purpose of this study was to assess the exposure to bioaerosols of collectors and trucks drivers during the collection of domestic waste and residual materials in Montreal by a multimeric and multimedia analysis. A sampling campaign was conducted on six drivers and six collectors. A total of 6 trucks that collect recyclable (2), organic (2) and compost (2) waste were evaluated. Samples were also taken from the surface of the drivers' seats, and the cabin air filters were recovered. Samples were analyzed at the microbiology laboratory of the IRSST using the microbial culture method and the molecular method of Droplet Digital PCR (ddPCR). The results indicate that collectors are generally the most exposed to bioaerosols. Domestic waste collectors were in particular the most exposed with average concentrations for bacteria (27,000 CFU/m3), endotoxins (100 EU/m3) and fungi (5,900 CFU/m3) exceeding health recommendations. However, the compost collectors were the most exposed to fungi (6,800 CFU/m3). E. coli and A. fumigatus were detected in all of our samples, but exposures were greater for workers collecting domestic waste. In addition, the seats of drivers involved in domestic waste collection had the highest levels of contamination. The average concentration of A. fumigatus (2,500 UG/m3) in the air of the cabin of domestic waste trucks was higher than that of recycling and compost trucks. The results of the filters did not allow us to draw any conclusions on their role in terms of drivers exposure to bioaerosols. The results of this research highlighted that workers exposure to bioaerosols could be influenced by factors such as the type of waste, the workplace and workers’ tasks performed. This study confirms the high potential for exposure to bioaerosols of workers assigned to the transport of household residual materials and waste. It also validates the need to reduce workers exposures by various strategies including, cabin cleaning procedures and the use of respiratory protection equipment for specific tasks generating bioaerosols (water jet cleaning of trucks, unloading of trucks).

The solar hot water storage tank is off great importance in the solar collector array. It allows transformed energy accumulation thus deals with the inconsistency between supply and demand. The suitable design of the storage tank can improve system efficiency. The storage capacity represents the balance between the amount of stored hot water and the tank's heat losses. The design of the storage capacity is based on three hypotheses. The coverage of hot water demand by solar energy, the ratio between storage capacity and solar thermal collector area and the prediction that the storage capacity corresponds to one- to twofold hot water demand. The purpose of this thesis is to share an understanding of the solar storage tanks design and to improve the design through numerical simulation, experimentations and general calculations. It also focuses on the confirmation of the used hypotheses and determination of the best way to design the solar storage tank for general practice and further potential discussions. The simulation model has three variables – the storage capacity, collector area and the number of occupants. The intent is to find the interdependence of these three variables. The purpose of the simulations is to modify the design of the solar tank based on the mutual influence of studied parameters. The modifications are performed based on the users' needs.
