Developing Consumer Adoption Model on Mobile Wallet in CanadaZarrin Kafsh, Sanaz January 2015 (has links)
The widespread use of smartphones and technological advances in near-field communication technologies are quickly transforming mobile payment systems. These technologies have made it possible for consumers to use their smartphones to pay for their purchases through various payments systems such as Apple’s iPay, MasterPass and V.me. These mobile payment systems, commonly referred to as mobile wallets, are designed to eliminate the need for consumers to carry multiple credit cards in their wallets, thereby making it more convenient for consumers to shop. Mobile wallets represent a major advance in mobile marketing because they are another major channel through which marketers can better reach and serve customers in a very personalized way. Realizing the potential benefits of mobile wallets for both marketers and consumers depends on the speed of adoption of this new technology. This study examines the factors that influence consumers’ decision to adopt mobile wallets. Drawing on the theoretical technology adoption and diffusion literatures, a model of the factors that influence mobile wallet adoption is proposed and tested with data collected from 530 respondents.
The purpose of this study was to develop a new technology acceptance model by combining TAM with IDT and exploring the factors that affect people’s behavioral intentions to use Mobile Wallet. Based on our proposed model, we explored the relationships among three innovative characteristics with PU and PEU with subjective norm which affect individuals’ intention for using Mobile Wallet. The results of this study show that some factors significantly influenced people behavioral intention to use Mobile Wallet. The effect of the trialability on the perceived usefulness is supported in this study. Subjective norm and awareness are correlated with the users’ perceived ease of use in Mobile Wallet. The findings suggest extended model of TAM for the acceptance of the Mobile Wallet can help industry players who are looking to build public demand and increase usage of Mobile Wallet.

EXPLORING DIGITAL CURRENCIES: Designing a peer-to-peer exchange with use of BlockchainKozlik, Petr January 2015 (has links)
Digital currencies represent complementary alternatives to fiat money in the conventional mental models of exchange. Blockchain, as the underlying technology of Bitcoin, holds a potential to influence a peer-to-peer exchange in the perspective of trust and ownership. The underlying technologies of digital currencies may be part of concepts, where designers have a possibility to define their own exchange articles for specific needs of the exchange. The ambition of this report is to illustrate the possibilities for the initiation of a peer-to-peer exchange with use of the underlying technologies beyond Bitcoin. The explorative approach provided me material for the retrospective reflection to achieve this ambition. The thesis project consisted three iterations, one experiment, and a literature overview. The main conceptual work illustrates the result of explorative research, where blockchain ensures trust between participating parties. This ecosystem uses the principles of sharing economy for initialisation of exchange within the community. This concept demonstrates potential opportunities for future transactions, in which the exchange article replaces fiat money.

Den digitala plånboken är femte generationens betalningsmedel och har nu kommit för att digitalisera flera av de funktioner som den fysiska plånboken erbjuder. En transaktion med den digitala plånboken sker genom konsumentens Smartphone. Förutsatt att Smartphones blir mobila plånböcker kan det antas att konsumenterna skulle vänja sig vid tanken att lämna den fysiska plånboken hemma. Det har tidigare gjorts studier på adoption av mobiltelefoner och hur människor i allmänhet tar till sig vissa tjänster men den digitala plånboken är ett relativt nytt fenomen och därför handlar vår uppsats om adoption av den digitala plånboken som tjänst. De slutsatser vi kan dra av uppsatsen är att säkerhet, enkelhet och kompabilitet kring den digitala plånboken påverkar om konsumenten väljer att använda tjänsten. För att företagen som levererar digitala plånbokstjänster ska nå största nytta bör de även se säkerhet, enkelhet och kompabilitet som centrala delar vid presentation och lansering av tjänsten. / This essay is about what influences consumers to want to use a digital wallet. The digital wallet is the fifth generation of payment and have now come to digitize several features that the physical wallet offers. A transaction with the digital wallet is made by the consumer Smartphone. Assuming that Smartphones are becoming mobile wallets can be assumed that consumers would get used to the idea of leaving the physical wallet at home. It has previously been studies on adoption of mobile phones and how to generally embrace certain services but the digital wallet is a relatively new phenomenon and, therefore, is our thesis about the adoption of the digital wallet services. The conclusions we can draw from this paper is that security, simplicity, and interoperability on the digital wallet will affect whether the consumer chooses to use the service or not. For companies that deliver digital wallet services to achieve the greatest benefit, they should also ensure security, simplicity and compatibility as key elements in the presentation and launch of the service.

The mobile payments industry, which is currently at an early stage of development, is taking the direction to be established mainly as an NFC-based industry, and, moreover, led by the mobile digital wallets setting. A mobile digital wallet is a complete payment app for your NFC-enabled mobile phone that enables consumers to pay at stores at the point of sale with a mobile phone. The digital wallet, which is associated with a credit card, integrates all payment-related services like the management and storage of receipts, coupons and offers, and loyalty cards. Currently, there are three big partnerships going ahead of the NFC mPayments stream: Google Wallet, VISA’s Digital Wallet and ISIS Mobile Wallet. Each one of these three mobile digital wallets is led by an actor coming from a different industry of origin. Google Wallet is led by Google, an internet and technology actor. VISA’s Digital Wallet is managed by Visa, a traditional payment processor. And ISIS Mobile Wallet is led by three of the largest US telecom operators: AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. Thus, applying a business network theory to analyse how the industry of origin of the mobile digital wallet affects the interaction within the partnership formed is a unique and perfectly fitted opportunity. The aim of this Master Thesis was to analyse the influence, regarding interaction, of the origin industry of the leading partners on the NFC-based mobile digital wallet partnerships of the mobile payments developing industry. A literature review on business network theory was conducted, in order to identify key features of the business landscape affecting interaction on business networks, as well as an industry analysis of the mobile payments developing industry. Then, the business network theory approach was applied to the study of the mobile payments digital wallet setting, conducting a discussion based both on the industry analysis performed and a set of interviews with experts on the mobile payments industry.

In our project the goal has been to create a digital wallet not just for payment, but also develop it into a complete digital wallet, replacing visa, membership card, student cards, id card and receipt. Our ambition is to take care of current qualities of today's wallet and improve where it is possible so that can be replaceable with the digital wallet.

The Near Field Communication (NFC) and mobile payments are two areas in constant development in current market. Today when we use the wallet, we can found cash of different values, coins, debit and credit cards of one or two banks, loyalty cards from restaurants and shopping receipts. Even though these items found in the wallet have a symbolic value of utility, they are becoming outdated, as a plethora of plastic and paper that will not make much sense in the near future. The revolution of mobile payments is imminent and is already happening. Instead of wallets, we have mobile phones with NFC on their hardware and software that transform them into a digital wallet (e-wallet). What matters now are not the papers and cards, but stay connected to your e-wallet account\'s that has your bank details. The main objective of this dissertation is to present the development of a mobile payment system called S-Wallet system, using the technology of NFC. This work also includes the development of a protocol for mobile payments, the protocol SWEP, which performs the whole process of message exchange, data exchange and payment execution. Besides the App S-Wallet, an application interface to android users use. In addition, an account that stores users data remotely, called S-Wallet account. As part of the evaluation of the S-Wallet, we perform tests of integration of all the entities of the system. These tests showed that the S-Wallet provides usability, security and privacy to users. Further, we had performed usability tests with users showing that the S-Wallet system is easy to use and we had indicated it for the real scenario studied: payment between two users, peer-to-peer (P2P) and retail vending. This work shows that the NFC technology is secure for mobile payments and is very useful for its expansion in the commercial sector. / A Comunicação por Proximidade de Campo do inglês Near Field Communication (NFC) e os pagamentos móveis são duas áreas em constante desenvolvimento no mercado atual. Hoje ao utilizar a carteira são encontradas cédulas de diferentes valores, moedas, cartões de débito e de crédito de um ou dois bancos, cartões fidelidade de restaurantes e recibos de compras. Mesmo que esses itens encontrados na carteira tenham um valor simbólico de utilidade, eles estão se tornando ultrapassados, como uma infinidade de plástico e papel que não fará muito sentido em um futuro próximo. A revolução dos pagamentos móveis é iminente e já está acontecendo. No lugar das carteiras estão entrando os celulares com dispositivos NFC em seu hardware e software que os transformam em uma carteira digital (e-wallet). O que interessa não são mais os papeis e os cartões, mas sim estar conectado com sua conta da e-wallet que possui seus dados bancários. O principal objetivo desta dissertação é apresentar o desenvolvimento de um sistema de pagamentos móveis denominado sistema S-Wallet, utilizando como base a tecnologia NFC. Este trabalho também inclui o desenvolvimento de um protocolo de pagamentos móveis, o protocolo SWEP, que realiza todo o processo de troca de mensagens, troca de dados e execução do pagamento. Além da App S-Wallet, uma aplicação com interface android para os usuários utilizarem. Assim como uma conta que armazena os dados dos usuários remotamente, denominada conta S-Wallet. Como parte da avaliação do sistema S-Wallet, foram realizados testes de integração das entidades desse sistema. Esses testes mostraram que o sistema S-Wallet proporciona usabilidade, segurança e privacidade aos usuários. Além disso foram realizados testes de usabilidade com usuários que mostraram que o sistema S-Wallet é fácil de usar e que pode ser indicado para o cenário pesquisado: pagamento entre dois usuários do inglês peer-to-peer (P2P) e máquinas de venda do varejo. Mobile Payment Adoption During The Covid-19 Pandemic: A Quantitative Study In GermanyHerget, Niklas, Steinmüller Krey, Philip January 2021 (has links)
Background: Emerging in December 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic profoundly changed consumer behaviour leading to social distancing and mitigating physical contact. Statistics show an increased use of contactless and mobile payment usage and adoption during the pandemic. It is unclear how valid previous models on mobile payment adoption explain adoption behaviour in emergency situations. While there are few studies approaching the adoption behaviour during the pandemic, there is also little previous research on mobile payment adoption prior to the pandemic in Germany. Purpose: The present thesis intends to advance several previously researched technological adoption frameworks to focus on and measure consumers’ perception of mobile payment technology adopting during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, our model provides a basis to understand mobile payment adoption in Germany during the pandemic. Method: Based on hypotheses derived from an adapted UTAUT2 model, we conducted quantitative deductive research reaching 258 questionnaire participants based in Germany. The empirical data was analysed through structural equation modelling. Conclusion: The findings show that Performance Expectancy still represents the primary driver of intention to adopt mobile payments during the pandemic, yet it is strongly supported by the initially contextualised Contamination Avoidance element and complemented by Habit, Effort Expectancy. Practitioners benefit from the study to better tailor campaigns in accordance with the main driver of adoption behaviour, while our findings contribute new insights into technology adoption in Germany during emergency situations.

Previous issue date: 2012 / CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Este trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar um modelo de arquitetura e usabilidade para um sistema de pagamento móvel (Mobile Payment System), considerando as premissas de independência de dispositivo, de localização, de operadora de telefonia móvel e de administradora financeira para suprir as necessidades de efetivar pagamentos e recebimentos de qualquer natureza em ambientes de comércio ubíquo (Ubiquitous Commerce). O trabalho inicialmente descreve a motivação, os objetivos e os conceitos fundamentais sobre os quais se baseia a proposta do modelo. A seguir são elencados os principais trabalhos relacionados e uma análise comparativa detalhada é realizada, derivando as características mais importantes a serem consideradas no modelo proposto. Em seguida, é proposto um modelo de pagamento móvel, denominado 4iPay, onde são detalhados os objetivos, arquitetura, recursos e a proposta técnico-científica de comércio eletrônico em ambientes ubíquos. Na proposição do modelo foi considerada a convergência dos trabalhos relacionados analisados no que tange à ubiquidade, unicidade, universalidade e unissonância. Assim, o modelo 4iPay pretende reunir as melhores características, inovando e melhorando em alguns aspectos relevantes ao comércio ubíquo de fato. O modelo proposto visa propor uma solução diferenciada em termos de arquitetura, modelo de negócio, usabilidade, baixo consumo de banda e alto desempenho nas transações de pagamento e recebimento, em relação às propostas atuais, levando em consideração, nas transações comerciais eletrônicas móveis, questões como independência de dispositivo, localização física, segurança e confiabilidade, além de outras características expostas ao longo do trabalho, como otimização no uso de protocolos de comunicação e flexibilidade na utilização de conexões locais ou remotas. Por fim, são apresentados os resultados obtidos na avaliação dos cenários, nas avaliações de desempenho da aplicação e na pesquisa de campo de aceitação do modelo proposto. / This work aims at presenting a usability and architectural model for a mobile payment system. In our model, we assume independence of devices, of location, of mobile operator, and of administrator, to allow all kinds of payment in ubiquitous environments (Ubiquitous Commerce). In this work, we begin describing motivation, goals, and fundamental concepts, in which the proposed model is based. Next, we present related works and a detailed comparative analysis of those projects, deriving the most important features. Later, we propose a model of mobile payment, called 4iPay, based on those features. We detail the 4iPay model, architecture, features, and the technical-scientific proposal of an electronic commerce system in ubiquitous environments. We consider, in the proposed model, the convergence of various related works in terms of ubiquity, unity, universality, and unison. Thus, 4iPay aims at bringing together the best features, innovating and improving in some aspects. In the model, we propose a distinguished solution in terms of architecture, business model, usability, low bandwidth consumption and high performance in payment and receipt transactions. We also consider issues such as device independence, physical location, security and reliability, and other features related to mobile electronic commerce transactions, such as optimizing communications protocols usage and flexibility in local or remote connections. We also present the effective use in scenarios of where and how 4iPay can be applied. For this purpose we present the prototype developed to evaluate the model. Finally, we present the scenarios assessment results, the application performance evaluation and the proposed model acceptance survey.

Embora algumas implantações de carteiras digitais tenham sido bem sucedidas, ainda não existe um padrão a ser utilizado pelo mercado. Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar uma solução para pagamento móvel através da utilização de uma carteira digital. Esta solução deve ser heterogênea, sendo disponibilizada para o maior número possível de dispositivos móveis, como telefones celulares e tablets, e deve permitir o pagamento entre dois usuários sem a necessidade de conexão à internet. O trabalho também leva em consideração as informações de contexto do usuário, e busca oferecer uma solução diferenciada ao usuário final, através da interface da aplicação com um servidor de pedidos, a ser instalado no estabelecimento comercial. A segurança também é um item importante, e o modelo deve prever a utilização de um elemento seguro, garantindo a segurança das informações gravadas no dispositivo. Foi desenvolvido um protótipo da arquitetura proposta, denominado Unipag. O protótipo foi desenvolvido através da avaliação de quatro diferentes soluções de carteira digital, sendo duas soluções acadêmicas e duas soluções comerciais. O protótipo foi desenvolvido inicialmente para o sistema Android, e foram realizadas duas avaliações. A avaliação por cenários demonstrou a utilização com sucesso da aplicação em cenários de pagamento cotidianos. A avaliação de usabilidade demonstrou que o aplicativo é de fácil utilização, e 96% dos usuários utilizariam a aplicação se disponível. Os resultados encorajam o estudo e demonstram a viabilidade da solução. / The use of mobile devices as a payment device has been growing over the last few years. Although some deployments of digital wallets have been successful, there is still no standard to be used by market. This work aims to present a solution for mobile payment through the use of a digital wallet. This solution must be heterogeneous, being made available to the largest possible number of mobile devices such as mobile phones and tablets, and should allow payment between two users without internet connection. The solution also considers the context information of the user, and seeks to offer a different solution to the end user through the application interface with a server application to be installed on the premises. Safety is also an important item, and the model should provide for the use of a secure element, ensuring the security of information stored on the device. We developed a prototype of the proposed architecture, called Unipag. The prototype was developed by evaluating four different solutions digital wallet, two academic solutions and two commercial solutions. The prototype was initially developed for the Android system, and were assessed twice. The evaluation scenarios demonstrated the successful use of the application for daily payment scenarios. The usability evaluation demonstrated that the application is easy to use, and 96% of users would use the application if available. The results encourage the study and demonstrate the feasibility of the solution.
