The Mako language : vitality, Grammar and Classification / La langue Mako : vitalité, grammaire et classification

Rosés Labrada, Jorge Emilio 15 April 2015 (has links)
This dissertation focuses on the documentation and description of Mako, an indigenous language spoken in the Venezuelan Amazon by about 1000 people and for which the only available published material at the start of the project were 38 words. The main goals of the project were to create a collection of annotated ethnographic texts and a grammar that could serve as a starting point for both language maintenance in the community and for further linguistic research. Additionally, the project sought to assess the language’s vitality in the communities where it is spoken and to understand the relationship of Mako to the two other extant Sáliban languages, namely Piaroa and Sáliba. This research has thus led to an assessment of language vitality in the Mako communities of the Ventuari River, a comprehensive description of the Mako language—heretofore undescribed—, and an evaluation of the genetic relationship between the three Sáliban languages. The description of the language covers a wide range of topics in areas such as phonetics and phonology, nominal and verbal morphology, and syntax of both simple and complex sentences. Discourse-level morphology and discourse-organization strategies are also covered. Aside from facilitating the study of other members of the Sáliban family and reconstruction of the common ancestral language, the description of Mako also contributes to the typology of Amazonian languages and to our understanding of the pre-history of this area of the Orinoco basin. The products of this project also have the potential to be mobilized in language literacy efforts in the Mako communities.

Para tal, uma Plataforma para Gerenciamento de Documentos Semânticos é definida / Documents are important mechanisms to register and disseminate knowledge and allow communication between human beings. Software Organizations use this mechanism to conduct projects. When these organizations reach a certain level of maturity they tend to use software document models in order to support the documentation process. Additionally, organizations count on processes and mechanisms to track the evolution of documents involved in a project. The amount of documents produced during a software project lifecycle can be considerably large. Despite the fact that version control systems support document centralization they are not capable of support information integration and visibility. Summing up, documents are treated as a set of characters tied with formatting styles because their primary goal is to be well rendered on a document authoring tool. In this context, adding domain ontology based metadata can help developing semantic documents, which, in turn, can help overcoming this scenario. Manual Semantic Annotation is notably dull and error prone. Combining document models semantic annotation is a viable option in order to achieve the annotation process automatization. Thus, uniting integration mechanisms provided by version control systems and software document models semantically annotated is a potential way of supporting information integration and, therefore, executing software projects. This work treats the use of software document models annotated semantically and version control mechanisms to track and register the evolution of a semantic document content (instantiated from a semantic model) and the provision of data visibility and integration services. In this sense, a Platform for Managing Semantic Documents is defined

Hammoud, Rim 16 November 2012 (has links)
The questioning of the thesis emerges from a context of a science education reform in France, that emphasizes the inclusion of inquiry-based science teaching (IBST) into upper secondary school curricula. Our study is situated at the exact moment of the institutional decision to integrate IBST into chemistry teaching at grade 10. The implementation of IBST leads to a new complexity in the work of teachers, which questions their practices, their resources and their professional knowledge. We aim at gaining insight into the chemistry teachers' professional development, particularly with respect to IBST, based on their documentation, i.e. their work on the resources they realize in order to perform their teaching. We focus particularly on the part of this work that takes place within communities. The study was conducted on two case studies. The first one concerns a teacher whom we have followed over two consecutive years within a variety of professional communities, among which one associative community has taken a prominent place. The second case study concerns a teacher followed over one year within ordinary communities of a school. In both cases, the study focuses on the teaching of the amount of substance in grade 10, because of the importance and the complexity of this chemical theme at high school level. The thesis proposes theoretical and methodological developments to understand teachers' work, in its individual and collective components, in its unity and its dynamics, in class and outside the class. It highlights the potential of collective work for teachers' professional development with respect to IBST

Le savant et le profane : documenter l'impressionnisme en France, 1900-1939 / Between Scholar and Layman : documenting Impressionism in France, 1900-1939

Viraben, Hadrien 20 November 2018 (has links)
In 1946 the publication of John Rewald’s History of Impressionism in New York consecrated the aura of the movement’s scientific historiography, supported by documentary investment. This quality confronted laymen’s narratives, which oral tradition and some witness’s accounts’ reputations dominated. Yet, a close consideration could not agree with the assumption of an exclusive scholarly nature of the document. Since the beginning of the 20th century, varied producers, such as artists, witnesses, heirs, critics, journalists, as well as professional historians, museum curators and academics formed an impressionist documentation. It thus can be interpreted as a quest for factual truth, as much as an appropriation of a research object through its written and visual marks. The equipment of impressionist readings hence gathered are: autographs; memorabilia, movable and physical assets as souvenirs of artists; photographic and cinematographic technologies. Moreover, these documents fit into a broader visual culture which included monuments and commemorative plaques of the public sphere, or motives transformed by pictorial acts into remarkable viewpoints. A historical and critical study of such a writing of history as documentary (de)monstration allows here to look back to its execution’s social and visual contexts, the career issues in which it participated, the goals that had been assigned to it within both scholars’ and laymen’s art discourses.

Utbildningsmaterial ur mjukvarudokumentation / Educational material from software documentation

Högman Ordning, Herman January 2019 (has links)
End user training of IT systems at the workplace is an expensive and time consuming ordeal. Despite a lot of information about the systems being produced during development of the system, in the form of requirement documents and other documentation, the information is seldom used for educational purposes. Multisoft wished to explore how the documentation produced during the development of their tailor-made business systems, named Softadmin R systems, can be used for educational purposes. The purpose of this master thesis was to identify what learning-needs end users have in regards to business systems developed by the company Multisoft. Based on these learning-needs an investigation would be placed on how the documentation produced during development could be used for educational purposes. A qualitative study with narrative semi-structured interviews was conducted with end users and project participants at six different companies that had implemented a Softadmin R system at their workplace within the last two years. The project participants had been involved from the customer company’s side during the development whereas the end users had not been involved. Ten interviews were conducted and a the matic analysis was performed on the interview transcripts. Procured themes were then interpreted from a cognitiveperspective on learning. The results indicated that end users want to be able to learn by trying to use the system themselves. End users want to learn by getting information visually and not only via text. A training material for a Softadmin R system should not require prior knowledge about the system to be available to the learner. Furthermore the results indicate that end users feel the systems have a complex business logic where it is difficult to understand how the different processes in the system affect each other. The transition from an old system to a new system can be problematic to the end users’ learning. A lack of structure in the end users’ learning of the system was identified as an issue.
