Familial Regulation of Young Children's TV Viewing in Ghana

Puni-Nyamesem, Clara 01 December 2021 (has links)
This study examined familial regulation of young children's TV viewing in Ghana. Participants were families with young children four through eight years enrolled at a school in the south of Ghana. An online survey of TV regulation practices of families (restrictive, coviewing, and instructive), TV viewing hours of young children, and families' perception of TV influence on their children was completed by 158 family members (mostly parents). Results showed that restrictive regulation is the most predominately used strategy in Ghana, although all 3 regulation styles were used. College educated families were significantly more likely to use restrictive regulation than families with a primary school education. Further, over 70% of the young children exceeded the World Health Organization (2019), and the American Academy of Pediatrics (2016) recommended two hours of young children’s TV viewing. Results are discussed in terms of policy suggestions and future research.

Nasser, Mazen January 2019 (has links)

Employer Branding inom IT : hur svenska IT-företag attraherar, rekryterar och behåller kompetens

Baltinger, Mick, Stark, William January 2021 (has links)
In the last two decades, the IT industry has suffered from a shortage of skill, where it is estimated that there will be a deficit of 70,000 workers by 2024. This entails higher demands on attracting, recruiting and retaining competent employees. To succeed in this, it is important to work with your Employer Brand. The purpose is therefore to investigate how companies in the IT industry in Sweden work with Employer Branding to attract, recruit and retain competent IT staff and whether they measure and evaluate that work, and if so how. With the help of a qualitative survey, five interviews were conducted to get a picture of how Swedish IT companies work with Employer Branding. The result shows that the emphasis on a unique corporate culture that is open, flexible and welcoming with strong leadership is important. In the recruitment work, it is also important to demonstrate the company culture and what benefits you get as an employee. Two companies measure their work and therefore only two companies evaluate it.

Vallner, Cornelia January 2022 (has links)
This is a study that with a gender-conscious analysis compares four films with each other. There are two "original" films with men starring in them, Ocean's eleven from 2001 and Ghostbusters from 1984. As well as remakes of these films with women starring in them, Ocean's eight from 2018 and Ghostbusters from 2016. This trend to do remakes of films and replace men with women have become increasingly popular among the people who create them. Despite this, the result is not very positive among the audience. In this study, we will take a look into the movies and their reception. Here, websites (imdb.com & rottentomatoes.com) were used to analyze the comments about the four different films, both the positive and the negative ones. The film analysis itself consists of selected scenes that was compared with each other in the various films. To make a comparison of the whole movies would need a much longer examination. That is why only some scenes were selected. The conclusion shows that it is rather the same films over and over again that are the problem for the audience rather than the female aspect.

Design and Implementation of Eight-Legged Robotic Transporter

Depangher, Jeremy David 01 November 2013 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis contains the design, manufacturing, and testing of a functional eight-legged robotic transporter based on the concept design laid out in U.S. Patent 7,246,671. The device is intended to achieve three different sequences of motion: regular driving, obstacle climbing, and stair climbing. The prototype was carried through concept design, analysis, selection of materials and components, manufacturing, software development, and final assembly and testing. The device can be assembled under multiple configurations, which harbor certain advantages and disadvantages. The results of the testing encourage the continuation of a second iteration of this concept.

Eriksson, Matilda January 2024 (has links)

Phaneuf, Julie-Elaine 10 1900 (has links)
Understanding what can influence a leader to demonstrate transformational leadership behaviours has intrigued researchers and practitioners for several years (Bommer, Rubin, & Baldwin, 2004; Bono & Judge, 2004; Shamir & Howell, 1999; Stogdill, 1948; Yukl, 1999). Yet, until now, these factors were little researched and poorly understood in comparison to the consequences of this type of leadership. Along these lines, this thesis answers to numerous issues raised by authors on this topic (Dinh & Lord, 2012; Zaccaro, 2007) by seeking to clarify the role of different individual and situational antecedents of transformational leadership. This objective is pursued through the adoption of an interactionist perspective which integrates individual and contextual antecedents to the assessment of personality supported by a criterion-centric personality model (compound variable). This thesis is composed of three articles that pursue the following objectives: 1) Review empirical literature on individual and contextual antecedents of transformational leadership; 2) Validate the empirical links between a new personality model (i.e. compound variable) and transformational leadership; 3) Test empirically the correlations between personality and contextual variables to predict transformational leadership. The first article aims to review and organize the current empirical knowledge from more than forty articles regarding transformational leadership indicators. The article is built on three major themes: the individual personality factors, the contextual elements and the study of the interaction between both. Multiple findings and research leads are discussed and set the stage for the following articles. In turn, the second article investigates the explanatory potential of a criterion-centric personality model to predict leadership. Specifically, the Great Eight model, put forward by Bartram (2005) is leveraged to understand the relationships between behaviours tied to transformational and transactional leadership. Results from a survey of 113 managers and their 799 subordinates provide little support for the explanatory value of this model, but indicate that some personality traits are associated with leadership. Further analysis allows us to put the results in perspective with the academic literature and provide some insights regarding the potential for some personality trait groupings to predict leadership behaviours. The third article builds on the traits activation theory (Tett & Burnett, 2003) to validate the combined effects of a manager’s personality and the context in which he or she operates to predict transformational leadership. The results ((nmanagers = 89; nsubordinates = 643) offer limited support to the rationale underlying the traits activation theory. Yet, it appears a manager’s relational traits (operationalized by the personality compound variable “supporting and cooperating”) are correlated to demonstrations of transformational leadership, when contextual factors (organizational consideration, decision latitude) are perceived positively by the manager. As a result, this research sheds some light on an element of variability put forth in previous studies regarding a manager’s relational inclinations by highlighting its sensitivity to positive contextual factors.
