Činitelé vedoucí spotřebitelé k ekologicky a společensky zodpovědnému chování / Factors leading consumers to environmentally and socially responsible behaviour

Descubes, Irena January 2009 (has links)
What are the key antecedents, factors and moderators that influence environmentally friendly and socially responsible consumer behaviour? Individual consumers buy products and services not only for their intrinsic satisfactory functionalities. They make their consumption choices also because of specific extrinsic products/service abilities to affirm their lifestyle choice, i.e. enhance their self-concepts and satisfy their psychological needs. Given that despite the recent increase of interest in sustainable consumer behaviour, little is known on sustainable consumer aspirations, this study aims at filling the research gap in this area of academic research. This study investigates ad hoc literature in Lifestyle Strategic Marketing, Branding, Social Psychology and Self-Concept Theory applicable in Green and Fair Trade Operational Marketing . Mixed research methods are used in three distinct studies: (a) laboratory experiment, (b) SurveyMonkeyTM online questionnaire analyzed quantitatively, and (c) SPSS and SEM software data management and analysis. They are conducted in France and based on the common research models, i.e. the Theory of reasoned action (TRA) founded by Fishbein & Ajzen (1975) and the Theory of planned behaviour (TPB) coined by Ajzen (1991). Specific attitudes towards environmentally friendly and fair-trade products and services are derived from Value sets, Awareness of Consequences beliefs and Environmental Concern evaluations; therefore in the third partial study we adapt the research model proposed by Hansla et al. (2008). In all of them is employed a convenience sampling method that allows to gather between 109 and 350 respondents. Results allow for identification of salient factors influencing consumer purchasing intention and willingness to adopt and pay for both environmentally friendly and socially responsible products and/or services.

Changing attitudes towards fast-fashion : A qualitative study of Swedish Generation Z and their increased ecological conscience

Ly, Mimmy, Vigren, Sophie January 2020 (has links)
The fast-fashion industry’s effect on the environment becomes more of a critical subject as the industry grows and dominates the apparel industry. Fast-fashion is based on frequently pushing new trends to consumers in order to increase sold volumes. This has led to overconsumption and fashion waste where large volumes of unsold garments are burned each year. Alongside of this, the industry has begun to understand the importance of ethical conduct and sustainability to positively affect or minimally harm humans and reduce their overall impact on the environment. Generation Z are said to be a finely tuned ecologically conscious generation, whilst being frequent shoppers of fast-fashion. This has led to the purpose of this study, to see how Swedish Generation Z’s increased ecological conscience affects their fashion consumption. This will be found by examining how shifts in thinking affects their attitudes towards fast-fashion retailers and their willingness to purchase sustainable and ethical fast-fashion. This, with the intent of addressing the behavioral-attitude gap that exists amongst sustainable fast-fashion, where consumers want sustainable fashion but do not purchase it. To answer this, the empirical foundation was obtained through 20 semi-structured video-interviews via telephones to give an understanding of Generation Z’s attitudes and behaviors surrounding sustainability and ethics in fast-fashion. Conclusions drawn were that there was an awareness of sustainability concerning fast-fashion, but that it was not something that changed their behaviors so much as their attitudes. What was found was a strong attitude about ethics in fast-fashion as the majority of participants felt that they were in the dark about what happens in the supply chain, and that they could do nothing about it. If companies would clearly define why something is more ethical, it was found that the majority would be willing to change their behaviors, and purchase ethical fast-fashion. Sustainability that was something they were aware of, was lacking in fast-fashion but something they compromised for price, whilst price was not such a sensitive subject regarding ethical fashion.

UP : Grow up with your furniture

Lin, Mu-En January 2021 (has links)
In Taiwan, even though we have sets of desks and chairs in different sizes for school children, due to the inconsistency of purchases and the number of students in the year, many students did not have the opportunity to use desks and chairs that fit their height. In such an environment, students have incorrect postures, cannot concentrate in class, and begin to neglect or even destroy the tables and chairs they use. In this project, I designed the furniture to be adjustable in height. It solves the inconvenience of school procurement and provides students with a more comfortable learning environment. Besides, I also introduced the concept of "Wood education" to cultivate students' understanding of Taiwan's native natural resources and develop the feeling of cherishing the furniture that students use from assembling their wooden furniture.

Vägen mot en hållbar verksamhet: att skapa miljöengagemang och forma nya normer - en fallstudie om Casino Cosmopol i Malmö

Anderberg, Sören, Kallus, Nathalie January 2020 (has links)
Most companies and organisations have realized the benefits of engaging in sustainable development and striving for an environmentally friendly workplace. Getting people involved in environmental issues in different ways has generally proven to be effective when it comes to influencing attitudes and encouraging environmentally friendly behaviour, and social standards have also been found to be important when it comes to creating environmental engagement in workplaces. The purpose of the study is to investigate how commitment and new values can be created for environmentally friendly actions in workplaces. The study is limited to Casino Cosmopol in Malmö, where an open survey has been conducted. The company had for some time worked on sustainability issues but felt that they needed support and advice when it came to create environmental commitment among the employees and taking their environmental actions to the next level. The survey was addressed to all employees within the company. The results of the survey show that employees believe that businesses and companies have a great responsibility when it comes to environmental issues, but that communication between employer and employees is not always sufficient to ensure that environmentally friendly behaviour permeates the entire business and that environmental commitment is created. The employees demand clarity, more knowledge about the environment and climate issues. The result also shows that employees are demanding the effects of the measures that have been establish, employers who are loyal and show genuine commitment.

Environmentálně vyspělá tělocvična / Environmentally advanced gym

Číková, Veronika January 2022 (has links)
The aim of the master's thesis is to design an environmentally advanced gym building. In the first part, the building structure is designed. It is a two-storey building. On the first floor there is a reception, a gym, sanitary facilities for athletes, communication areas, facilities for employees, storage areas and technical facilities. On the second floor there is a cafeteria, gym, sanitary facilities for athletes, tribune, communication areas, toilets, staff facilities and technical facilities. The structural system is a skeleton of monolithic reinforced concrete with infill masonry of aerated concrete. Ceiling structures and staircase are also designed as monolithic reinforced concrete. The building is roofed with trussed steel gable trus-ses, the roof cladding consists of PUR boards with surface trapezoidal sheeting. The perimeter walls are insulated with ETICS system. The second part deals with the building environment technology. Heating, air conditioning, cooling, water management, lighting and a photovoltaic power plant are designed. The third part is an energy study for the design of the heating source. Economic and ecological factors are taken into account. The decisive parameters for the selection of the most optimal solution are the total investment costs over the lifetime, the production of CO2 emissions and the consumption of primary nonrenewable energy. The project is developed using AutoCAD and DEKsoft software.

Lead Concentrations in Indoor Dust : Differences Between Indoor Shooting Ranges and Assumed Non-Lead Contaminated Sites / Koncentrationer av bly i inomhusdamm: Skillnader mellan skjuthallar och presumerade blyfria lokaler

Brolin, Lena January 2023 (has links)
A projectile which missed its target and falls into the bullet trap at the end of the shooting range might not be viewed as dangerous. Yet, hazardous fumes and fine metal fragments from the bullet might contaminate the users of the shooting range. The aim of this study was to investigate if there were elevated concentrations of lead and other metals in dust found at indoor shooting ranges in relation to common household dust. My hypothesis stated that, at least lead concentrations were elevated in the dust from indoor shooting ranges, given the common use of lead in ammunition. Results from the collected dust samples proved that shooting ranges had an approximately 330 times higher mean concentration (20 354 mg/kg) compared to the reference sites (62 mg/kg). Except for iron, shooting ranges had higher concentrations for all investigated metals (lead, iron, zinc and copper). The concentrations of lead, iron, zinc, and copper at the shooting ranges likely originated from the use of different types of ammunition, and their various ways to disintegrate. Previous studies have proved a relationship between elevated lead levels in blood and lower IQ, and with the fact that shooting ranges had elevated lead concentrations it seems of high relevance to continue monitoring how lead accumulates in indoor dust in order to avoid potential effects on the human health.

An Improved Airflow and Watering Balance for a Biowall

Dhanurja De Silva (16650390) 07 August 2023 (has links)

Clean indoor air is a necessity, in the past opening a window or supplying outdoor air would suffice for removing indoor contaminated air. As humans live in more dense neighborhoods or urban areas, the need for energy efficient clean indoor air is important. As outdoor air pollution increases, a Biowall is a device to improve aesthetics and clean indoor air by pulling air through the root zone of plants in a loosely packed growth media. The Biowall is a sustainable supplement to a single use air filter. For this research a small Biowall was designed, fabricated, tested, and installed in the Children’s wing of a public library. The airflow simulation and watering for the Biowall was explored using Autodesk CFD to simulate the airflow through growth media and identify a hole pattern to distribute airflow evenly through the plant trays. Various watering line designs were also tested until the rectangular design proved to be more balanced at distributing the water evenly to the growth media. Finally, the air cleaning ability of the Biowall was tested using a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) test to quantify the cleaning rate. The Biowall provided 12 cfm of clean air, or about 2 cfm/sq ft of plant tray area.
