Des Liaisons dangereuses à Nous sommes cruels : le libertinage chez Choderlos de Laclos et Camille de Peretti : récriture, séduction, combat / From Dangerous Liaisons to We are Cruel : the libertinism according to Choderlos de Laclos and Camille de Peretti : rewriting, seduction, struggle

Matar, Imen 22 September 2017 (has links)
When in 2006, Camille de Peretti, the twenty-six-year-old young writer, decides to give a new version of an old novel, she goes far back in time : two hundred and twenty-four years ago. Roma locuta - causa finita. Autorita římského biskupa na počátku 5. století prizmatem dopisů Inocence I. / Roma locuta - causa finita. Authority of the Roman Bishop in the beginning of the 5th century seen through the letters of Innocent I

Trepeš, Ondřej January 2014 (has links)
The thesis presents firstly the political and historical situation in the Late Roman Empire in which the Church was granted liberty. Through the historical events is shown how the theological discussions were jointed and influenced by the contemporary political situation of the Empire. Secondly, the life of the Pope Innocent I before and during his pontificate is presented and Nachleben of Innocent as a saint man, the style of his letters is involved too. In the same chapter is his pontificate described and discussed through letters, which he sent to various groups of bishops. These are divided into the following groups: Eastern bishops, bishops in Europe, boshops of Africa and the letters as a support for his friend John Chrysostom. In all these fields Innocent treats self-confidently, with the authority of the Roman bishop, but the kinds of claims to his authority depends on geographical location in which the letters are sent. Alongside the contribution of the basic introduction to the letters of the Pope Innocent I this thesis also offers the short excursion to the philological analysis and the selected theological topics (especially liturgical) of his letters.

Poetry and the Epistolary Relationship of Ernestina de Champourcin and Carmen Conde: A Room of One's Own as Workshop of Aesthetic Authenticity

Gómez Sobrino, Isabel 01 January 2017 (has links)
In this essay I study the link between the epistolary relationship between Ernestina de Champourcin and Carmen Conde and their simultaneous poetic production. In the light of the concept of a room of one's own as a essential and necessary space for creative writing elaborated by Virginia Woolf's eponymous book, I argue that, the epistolary discourse functions as a room of one's own where both poets try to attain an aesthetic authenticity that was limited by patriarchal society at the beginning of the 20th century in Spain. The presence of the interlocutor, the doubling of the poetic voice, and the metapoetic poems converge in our responsibility as critics to place the poets epistolary at the forefront, since this is used as a workshop and a free space for the development of the poets' aesthetics.

Practicas Escriturales Femeninas: Espacialidad e Identidad en Epistolas en la Colonia (Rio de la Plata, Siglos XVI-XVII)

Silva, Yamile 13 May 2011 (has links)
The importance of the letter as a means for social, personal and intellectual expression for humanists has been highlighted in various studies. For those studies, its value resides in its effectiveness in responding more directly to the presence of a new pool of readers giving rise to a new cultural type, transforming it into the emblematic genre of the humanists. I am interested in considering the influence of epistolary models in the New World, because, as these models were transferred to a new context, they acquired new forms that responded to the needs of communication, representation, symbolization and, finally, a new rhetoric. For the purposes of this dissertation, I will depart from the conception of the letter in the New World as a “polysynthetic” genre; that is to say, inasmuch as I wish to respond to the plurality of communicative needs that arose from the new contexts that were unforeseen by the humanist rhetoric, I will consider the letters from the New World as emerging from and forming part of other genres: accounts, petitions, diaries, among others. The starting point for this dissertation is the thorough reading and analysis of eleven unpublished letters, all written by women, currently located at the Archivo General de Indias in Seville and sent from the Rio de la Plata during the XVI and XVII centuries. In my investigation, I intend to demonstrate how the authors used the writing of such documents as an empowering practice. Secondly, I will prove that these first epistles, written from America, do not necessarily belong to the ars epistolandi, but to the ars dictaminis. Furthermore, this change in disctinction requires a critical review of the current state of classical letters. Finally, I maintain that these letters provide a space for the emergence of the authors‟ identity. In other words, I understand and ground the conclusions of this work on the fact that space culturally shapes gender, but that gender acts in the production of such spaces as well. The participation of female authors by means of these letters merges them with that spatiality in a process both of production and reproduction, since, as a conscience building act, the “I” is turned into text in order to discuss on/about the space.

Žánr románu v dopisech v dílech německých a nizozemských autorek. Na příkladu děl Sophie von La Roche, Betje Wolff a Aagje Deken. / The epistolary novel genre in german and dutch female writer's works. The example of Sophie von La Roche, Betje Wolff and Aagje Deken.

Vostalová, Milena January 2014 (has links)
The subject of the thesis is the epistolary novel genre in the works of German and Dutch female writers Sophie von La Roche, Betje Wolff and Aagje Deken. This narrative genre continued the former novelistic tradition and is inseparably connected with epistolary culture, sentimentalism, cult of friendship and the name of the English novelist Samuel Richardson. It attracted readers' attention, especially of female audience in the period of social changes based on ideas of the Enlightenment and its philosophy. In the second half of the 18th century it became the most popular genre. Thanks to its characteristics it became the medium of female opinions' and feelings' presentation in times of the beginning women's emancipation as well as the genre which enabled more women to enter the field of literature. The issue of the thesis is the comparative analysis and interpretation of two most successful novels of the women writers in the bordering countries with cultural influences: the first German professional women writer La Roche and her novel Geschichte des Fräuleins von Sternheim and the Dutch author couple Wolff a Deken and their collective work Historie van mejuffrouw Sara Burgerhart.

Bränn mitt bref! : En poststrukturalistiskt inspirerad studie av författaren Marianne Lundegård-Hagbergs utträdande ur historien

Lundegård, Karin January 2011 (has links)
Abstract This thesis discusses and analyses a 19th century female author's vanishing from history. The study investigates social relationships as figured and described in the epistolary form, based on letters between the author herself and different members of her family. It also tries to identify the author's position and situation in her time and society according to important themes and motifs in her novels. The main purpose is not to reconstruct history, but rather to show the many complex histories that can also be described, apart from the simplified and generalized one. The aim of this study is to, from a post-structuralist perspective, analyze the position of author Marianne Lundegård-Hagberg, and her role as a performative, discursive person that history forgot.

Le rôle d'Amédée Pichot dans l'implantation d'idées littéraires anglaises en France de 1825 à 1850 / Amédée Pichot's role in the implementation of English literary ideas in France in the nineteenth century

Kafala, Maram 10 December 2018 (has links)
Our work examines the process of the establishment of new ideas of English literature in France in the XIXth century. The essential personality of this study is Amédée Pichot. The main question that arises here is the following: what is the importance of this writer in the development of French literature in an era dominated by other major writers, such as Chateaubriand, Hugo, Lamartine, Stendhal and many others? It is through the study of three parties of his literary career that we want to emphasize what a minor writer as Amédée Pichot can do to improve the French literature. His book, entitled Voyage historique et littéraire en Angleterre et en Écosse, published in 1825, his role as a journalist and director of various literary journals and his great efforts in the field of translation are the principal axes which will reveal to us up to what point it was able to participate in enriching the French literature by new aspects of English literature.

Negócios coloniais: o gênero epistolar entre os homens do trato do século XVIII / Negócios Coloniais: the epistolary genre among the XVIIIth century tradesmen

Munhós, Fernando Brescancini 15 May 2015 (has links)
This work aims to point out some characteristics of epistolary rhetoric present in letters exchanged between Francisco Pinheiro, grand Lisbon merchant of the first half of the XVIIIth century, and members of his family and friends who were sent to trade in regions of Portuguese America. Through the assumption that the resources present in those letters play a pragmatic order expected in the long term of the rhetorical institution, we first searched for a look at the letter that surpasses the hypotheses made upon their transcription and publishing in the work entitled Negócios Coloniais. Therefore, whenever looking at the papers again as ruins of a time that is already dead, we expect to reach and define the notion of business shared by the tradesmen of the Old Portuguese State. We expect to accomplish this exercice through at least two procedures: the first one is to situate the active rhetoric on the horizon of possibilities of expression of those merchants within a genealogy of the epistolary genre; the second, in turn, focuses on the role of rhetoric associated to the theological-political codes that allow an activity called affair. Thus, we intend to draft how the notion of letter in this context helps to understand the concept of business, in order to show that, in XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries, what was meant as a relationship of friendship was the the goal of both.
