MUSIKALISCHER PARNASSUS by Johann Kaspar Ferdinand Fischer (1656-1746): Guitar Transcription and Performance Guide of Suites VI and VIII

January 2013 (has links)
abstract: Guitar repertoire from the Baroque period consists primarily of transcriptions, which suggests that modern performers may explore more sources to identify eligible works to transcribe. The Musikalischer Parnassus, a collection of dance suites for harpsichord by Johann Kaspar Ferdinand Fischer (1656-1746), is worthy of such a transcription. This collection has high artistic value and possesses a range and texture that make much of it playable on the guitar. The purpose of this research project is to introduce Fischer and his works to the classical guitar community, and also to explore the artistic qualities of Musikalischer Parnassus that qualify it for transcription for guitar. This document addresses the transcription process of two selected suites: VI, Euterpe and VIII, Polymnia by Fischer. The outcome is an edition for guitar and a performance guide, which includes interpretations and stylistic considerations for each movement. / Dissertation/Thesis / it is the appendix for the dissertation / D.M.A. Music 2013

Silva, Fernando Silva e January 2015 (has links)

Xavier, Maria Angélica Zamora January 2008 (has links)

Trois, Joao Fernando de Moraes January 2004 (has links)

Bourgeois Masculinity and Nation Building in 19th Century Spanish Novel

Mejia, David January 2022 (has links)
This dissertation explores how the 19th century Spanish novel functions as a forum to prescribe and then question normative bourgeois masculinity. After establishing how masculinity was a central concern for 19th century Spanish intellectuals preoccupied with the building of a liberal nation, it analyzes novels written after the death of Fernando VII (1833) and through the first two decades of the Restoration period (1875-95). By 1840 it was clear that the stereotypical Spaniard, as coined by European romanticism, was of no use for the liberal nation, and a new national man was needed. The (failed) attempt of the novel of the 1840s to consolidate an archetypical masculinity is crucial to understand this process. For its part, the Restoration novel will challenge the myth of normative bourgeois masculinity, dissolving its national archetypes into more complex characters, and culminating with the absolution of the romantic myth it had previously attempted to erase.

The word became text and dwells among us

Oldfield, Jeffery S. January 2008 (has links)
In 1978 a group of evangelical philosophers and theologians held a meeting to decide what the definitive statement on the doctrine of inerrancy would be. Drawing on the thought of B.B. Warfield and others this group came up with a statement comprising of a short statement, nineteen articles including both statements of affirmation and denial, as well as, an exposition of these articles. Taken in its entirety, this statement is intended to be the Evangelical statement determining all subsequent information about the doctrine of inerrancy. Leading evangelicals, including Carl F.H. Henry signed this document in order to establish a consensus on what one meant when using the term inerrancy. Almost three decades later this term is still used with a sense of confusion and the doctrine is no less controversial. In fact, it still is responsible for the division of departments in many evangelical institutions of higher education in North America. The following thesis hopes to help loosen this doctrine from its theological ‘stronghold’ and place it in a position where it will be less likely to cause division amongst evangelicals. By examining the thought of both B.B. Warfield, who helped create the doctrine, and Carl F.H. Henry, who played a contemporary role in the formation of the Chicago Statement and who might rightly be considered the evangelical theologian of the twentieth century, this thesis brings to light certain presuppositions of the doctrine of inerrancy that allow it take a position that undergirds other theological doctrines. By identifying the nature of truth and authority as the main tenants of the inerrantist position, the thesis examines these terms in light of the thought of both Warfield and Henry. Their thought is found to be remarkably similar to certain principles and concerns raised by Enlightenment philosophers and it is concluded that the understandings of truth and authority presupposed by the doctrine of inerrancy ultimately are biased by Enlightenment philosophy and so are an inadequate representation of the terms as used in Scripture and tradition. The thesis suggests that an adequate understanding of truth would be primarily Christological in nature and, therefore, a larger category than the one presupposed by the doctrine of inerrancy. Also, an adequate understanding of authority would presuppose the contemporary work of the Holy Spirit, which again makes for a much larger pneumatological category than the one presupposed by the doctrine of inerrancy as it is currently defined. Enlarging these categories in no way necessitates the denial of inerrancy altogether. Rather it removes the doctrine of inerrancy from its theological pedestal and places it amongst other beliefs that might support the truth and authority of Scripture but by no means establish them. The concluding chapter ends with a statement of what this new doctrine of inerrancy might look like.

Mytologie reklamní kampaně Samsung Galaxy Note / Mythologies in Samsung galaxy note advertising campaogn

Kecerová, Martina January 2015 (has links)
This diploma thesis discusses modern myths that appear in the selected audiovisual commercials. The commercials are part of the advertising campaign for a Galaxy Note 3 device produced by Samsung Company. The campaign was launched in the fall of 2013 and continued through the spring 2014. As Samsung is also one of the official partners of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, some of the analyzed content is dedicated to the relationship between the two. Semiotics and marketing communication provide a broad theoretical framework for the later semiotic analysis. The chapter on semiotics discusses the modern perspective on the sign theory, offering Ferdinand de Saussure's and Charles Sanders Peirce's points of view. The main focus of the thesis is, however, on the process of the so-called secondary signification and modern myths creation introduced by Roland Barthes in his Mythologies. The marketing communication chapter then introduces several theoretical starting points in the field, various marketing models, and the communication mix with the focus on advertising, its components and potential psychological effects. In the final part, selected commercials are introduced along with the plot description and a semiotic analysis of the environment, characters, individual elements, images, colors and the...

L'invention de soi dans l'œuvre de Patrick Modiano / The invention of oneself by Patrick Modiano

Delahaye, Francis 20 December 2012 (has links)
This dissertation addresses the question of the invention of oneself by Patrick Modiano. The terms invention of oneself can be interpreted on three ways, depending on the manner the accent is made on the definition of identity, answering the question : “Who am I?”, or finding the ideas and arguments to prepare a discourse as it is done in the rhetoric or questioning one’s memory as nothing new can be invented. Amongst these three approaches, the first one about the question of identity is mainly studied with the literary tools, excluding the psychoanalytical view which is rejected by Patrick Modiano himself. A three steps approach is followed. At first we analyze how the Patrick Modiano’s romanesque art is influenced by History, mainly the history of the French collaboration during World War II but also by the history of the Algeria war at the beginning of the sixties, his literary sources mainly among French anti-Semite authors who published their books just before World War II, and of course his shared life, that is to say the life he is sharing with the readers. The following question concerns the literary genre of the novels written by an author using the I narrator. Is he writing novels, autobiographies or autofictions? The last issue is about the question of identity: what does it mean for Patrick Modiano to be born in 1945, to be the son of a supposed collaborator, or the son of a Jew, or to be a writer? Answering these different questions should help to approach the definition of the invention of oneself. Is it related to the invention of several birth dates, a false date for the wedding of his parents or imaginary family members for himself or on the opposite is it related to the invention of a new imaginary identity at each novel till the previous identity is abandoned and a new imaginary identity is created in the following novel?

Kauza "Hitler je gentleman" v českých médiích : Peroutka, Zeman a Ovčáček (případová studie) / Case "Hitler is gentleman" in Czech media: Peroutka, Zeman and Ovčáček (Case study)

Adamec, Tatiana January 2016 (has links)
The case of supposed (alleged) Ferdinand Peroutka's article Hitler is gentleman which caused on 27th January 2015 at the conference Let My People Live! in Prague president Milos Zeman filled up the Czech news media. The aim of this thesis is to explore and analyse how these case was displayed in the media and how have the media approached to this case. This work is trying to assess the extent of media content in these media, the presence and importance of the communication and is also focused on the deeper meaning of the investigated material. The goal was to bring a sight and aspects of the possible inclination of the media, as an institution, to either side of the dispute. Traditional media like television, radio and press, were the main research sample. In addition to Czech Television it was extended for a second public service medium Czech Radio. As an additional source of traditional media the newspaper Lidove noviny and the magazines Respekt and Reflex were chosen. The main actor of the case is the president of the state and his spokesman who tried to find a allegedly non-existent article. This work will therefore focus on the parsing and the analysis of aspects related to their appearance and action. Ferdinand Peroutka was accused of fascination with Nazism, media did "support" this affair...
