Orientador: Márcia Regina Capelari Naxara / Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho consiste em interpretar um conjunto de fotografias, fotorreportagens e enunciados sobre o interior baiano, perscrutando as construções de paisagens associadas ao sertão e, em especial, à caatinga. Com foco específico na produção geográfica e no fotojornalismo desenvolvidos entre os anos 1946 e 1960, sustento a tese de que tais práticas estavam ligadas, de um lado, aos novos valores estéticos estabelecidos pela fotografia documental, e, de outro lado, à conjuntura política nacionalista e desenvolvimentista do pós-Guerra. Os sertões baianos, enquanto espaço e paisagem, configuraram-se a partir de conceitos e convenções visuais que atravessavam a linguagem de geógrafos e fotógrafos. Tendo isso em perspectiva, minhas análises centram-se sobre recortes espaciais, como o rio São Francisco e Canudos, e sobre olhares fotográficos, como os de Tibor Jablonsky, Stivan Faludi, Pierre Verger e Marcel Gautherot. Esses fotógrafos contribuíram significativamente para a construção de uma visualidade dos sertões baianos associada à dimensão nacional que, por sua vez, circunscrevia o Brasil como unidade territorial resultada de diversidades regionais. Na base dessas interpretações encontra-se um quadro teórico que concebe fotografia e paisagem como artefatos da cultura, que ganham sentidos conforme determinados suportes, contextos e circuitos sociais. / Abstract: The point of this work consists on reading a set of photographs, photoreports and statements about the Bahia’s backland, peering the constructions of landscapes associated to sertão, especially the caatinga. With a specific focus on the geographic production and photojournalism developed between 1946 and 1960, I sustain the thesis that such processes were connected, on one side, to the new aesthetics values stablished by the documentar photography, and on the other side, to the post-war nationalist and developmentalist political conjucture. The sertões baianos, while space and landscape, set up from visual concepts and conventions that went through the language of geographers and photographers. Having this in perspective, my analysis focused on spatial cutting, like São Francisco River and Canudos, and on photographic looks like the ones of Tibor Jablonsky, Stivan Faludi, Pierre Verger and Marcel Gautherot. These photographers had contributed significantly to the construction of a visuality of the sertões baianos associated to the national dimension that, on the other hand, circumscribed Brazil as territorial unit resulted from regional diversity. On the basis of these interpretations, a theoretical board that conceives photography and landscape as cultural artifacts, that have meaning according to certain supports, contexts and social circuits is found. / Resumen: La finalidad de este trabajo consiste en interpretar un conjunto de fotografias, fotoreportajes y enunciados sobre el interior de Bahia, examinando prolijamente, la construcción de paisajes relacionadas al sertão, en particular la caatinga. Enfocado especificamente en la producción geográfica y en el fotoperiodismo desarrollado entre los años 1946 y 1960, sustento la tesis de que tales prácticas estaban enlazadas; por un lado, a los nuevos valores estéticos establecidos por la fotografia documental, y por otro lado, a la coyuntura política nacionalista y desarrollista de la Posguerra. La región agreste de Bahia se configura, tanto en espacio como en paisaje, a partir de conceptos y visiones de la realidad, que atraviesan el lenguaje de geógrafos y fotógrafos. Considerando esto, mi análisis se basa en recortes de espacios geográficos como el rio São Francisco y Canudos, y también toma em cuenta la mirada fotográfica de grandes nombres como los de Tibor Jablonsky, Stivan Faludi, Pierre Verger y Marcel Gautherot. Estos fotógrafos contribuyeron significativamente en la construcción de una imagen representativa para los sertões baianos, asociada a la dimensión nacional; que a su vez, definía el Brasil como una unidad territorial resultante de las diversas regiones. O projeto narrativas da luz é uma reflexão a respeito do tempo. A pesquisa tem como escopo o campo da poética e seu olhar está voltado para a fotografia, ou seja, é uma investigação sobre o fenômeno da inscrição do tempo na imagem fotográfica. A proposta era produzir imagens onde, mesmo evidenciando a inscrição do tempo, a aparência de instantâneo fosse - na medida do possível - preservada. O expediente adotado foi utilizar a cor da luz e suas intensidades para da visibilidade à passagem do tempo e, fazer derramar lenta e continuamente essas luzes sobre o espaço. Para alcançar esse resultado foi necessário projetar e construir um dispositivo fotográfico singular que envolve recursos de mecânica, eletrônica, matemática e computação. O resultado é uma série fotográfica - que continua em processo - e alguns desdobramentos que surgiram a partir dessas fotografias. A série resultante é constituída de imagens com 10 metros ou mais de extensão que rompem, de várias maneiras com o paradigma da fotografia. / The project \"narratives of light\" is a reflection on time. The research is scoped to the field of poetry and the gaze is focused on photography, in other words, it is an investigation on the phenomenon of inscription of time in the photographic image. The proposal was to produce images where even showing the inscription of time the snapshot look - as far as possible - would still be there. The expedient adopted was to use the color of light and its intensity to give visibility to the passing time by pouring slowly and continuously these lights over the space. In order to achieve such an outcome it was necessary to design and build a unique photographic device that involves mechanical features, electronics, mathematics and computing. The outcome is a photographic series - which is still in process - and a few unfoldings that emerged from these photographs. The resulting series consists of images with 10 meters or more in length that break, in many different ways, the photography paradigm.

Esta dissertação reflete sobre a criação de um conjunto de operações poéticas realizadas no espaço urbano, cujo intuito é problematizar as influências que o \"corpo da cidade\" exerce sobre os corpos de seus habitantes e os processos de subjetivação subsequentes. Tem a cartografia como procedimento investigativo-base, que articula a pesquisa em três modos processuais: 1) o caminhar no espaço urbano de maneira errática, com o objetivo de formular e absorver questões que os múltiplos ambientes suscitam; 2) a produção de intervenções artísticas em espaços públicos, com vistas a interpelar locais e transeuntes, desviando-os da rotina prático-funcional através da abertura de \"frestas sensíveis\" no cotidiano das cidades; 3) produzir deslocamentos das questões do espaço público para espaços privados, por meio de acontecimentos estéticos que utilizam recursos principalmente da fotografia, do vídeo e da performance, para discutir reciprocidades afetivas entre sujeito e paisagem urbana. / This dissertation reflects on the creation of a set of poetic operations performed in urban space, whose purpose is to problematize the influences that the \"body of the city\" exerts on the bodies of its inhabitants and the subsequent subjectivation processes. It has the cartography as basic investigative procedure, which articulates research in three procedural modes: 1) walking in urban space in an erratic way, with the objective of formulating and absorbing questions that the multiple environments raise; 2) the production of artistic interventions in public spaces, with a aim of questioning local and passers-by, diverting them from the practical-functional routine by opening \"sensitive gaps\" in the daily life of the cities; 3) to produce shifts from public space issues to private spaces, through aesthetic events, that use resources mainly of photography, video and performance, to discuss affective reciprocities between subject and urban landscape.

Esta pesquisa foi desenvolvida com o objetivo de nos aprofundarmos nas questões que decorrentes do advento das mídias digitais, permeiam a fotografia atualmente. Para isso, tomamos como objeto de estudo o campo da fotografia publicitária, uma área que trabalho e expressão com imagens que tem sofrido significativas transformações. Os focos da pesquisa empírica são as a dinâmica de trabalho – criação e produção - dos fotógrafos publicitários, as mudanças tecnológicas na fotografia e a percepção e a recepção das questões estéticas inerentes à imagem. / This research was conducted to develop a broader comprehension of the transformations occurred within the area of photography after the advent of the digital media. In order to do so, we have chosen as our object of study the field of advertising photography, an area of work and expression through images that has suffered significant transformations. The focuses of the empirical research are the dynamics of work – creation and production – of advertising photographers, the technological transformations within photography and the perception and reception of aesthetical matters regarding the photographic image.

As avaliações estéticas dos resultados da reabilitação das fissuras labiopalatinas podem direcionar o planejamento de novas intervenções cirúrgicas além de auxiliar na reavaliação de protocolos de tratamento. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a estética da região nasolabial em crianças com fissura labiopalatina unilateral por meio de fotografias padronizadas. O grupo estudado foi selecionado no Ambulatório da Disciplina de Prótese Bucomaxilofacial da Faculdade de Odontologia da Universidade de São Paulo, sendo constituído por 55 pacientes na faixa etária entre 6 e 12 anos, que apresentavam fissura unilateral de lábio e rebordo alveolar, com ou sem comprometimento do palato, não sindrômicos, já submetidos às cirurgias reparadoras primárias. Foram obtidas fotografias digitais padronizadas em vista frontal, perfil direito, perfil esquerdo e obliqua submental, nas quais foram avaliadas características estéticas do nariz, lábio e região nasolabial. Em um primeiro estudo, por meio da classificação de Asher-McDade, foram realizadas as análises estéticas do lábio, nariz e região nasolabial dos 55 pacientes por três avaliadores experientes no tratamento de fissurados, utilizando fotografias de face inteira e fotografias de imagem recortada da região nasolabial, quando não se observou diferença estatisticamente significante entre elas (Teste da Estatística Alfa de Cronbach). O segundo estudo foi conduzido utilizando apenas as fotografias de imagem recortada da região nasolabial, com a finalidade de verificar possíveis diferenças na avaliação de profissionais da área de saúde com e sem experiência em fissura labiopaltina. Uma nota consensual obtida dos profissionais permitiu relacionar a estética facial com as variáveis: lateralidade da fissura, gênero do paciente e hospital de origem. Na avaliação dos resultados inter-examinadores foi verificado graus elevados de confiabilidade tanto para o grupo de profissionais experientes quanto para o grupo dos não experientes, aplicando o Teste Estatístico Alfa de Cronbach. Em relação à diferença da atratividade estética do lábio, nariz e região nasolabial para os dois grupos de profissionais, observou-se pelo Teste dos Postos Sinalizados de Wilcoxon, que não houve diferença significante para lábio e nariz, no entanto, para a região nasolabial houve diferença estatisticamente significante (p= 0,002), quando o grupo de profissionais experientes apresentou maior grau de satisfação em relação aos não experientes. O teste de Mann-Whitney mostrou haver associação estatisticamente significante entre os aspectos estéticos de lábio, nariz e região nasolabial somente com a variável hospital de origem, obtendo respectivamente os valores p= 0,002, 0,034 e 0,026. Este trabalho permitiu concluir que não houve diferença na avaliação dos resultados estéticos quando da utilização de fotografias de face inteira ou de imagem recortada da região nasolabial. Os avaliadores profissionais experientes apresentaram maior satisfação com a aparência estética da região nasolabial do que os avaliadores não experientes, no entanto, para a análise isolada do lábio ou do nariz, não houve diferença. Não houve associação dos resultados estéticos em relação à lateralidade da fissura e ao gênero, mas houve em relação ao hospital de referência, o qual apresentou menores índices de satisfação. / Aesthetic evaluation of rehabilitation outcomes of the cleft lip and palate may assist in the determination of new surgical interventions and aid in re-evaluation of treatment protocols. The aim of this study was to evaluate the aesthetics of the nasolabial region in children with a unilateral cleft lip and palate using standardized photographs. The study group was selected from the Clinical Division of Maxillofacial Prosthodontics, School of Dentistry, University of São Paulo and consisted of 55 patients between 6 and 12 years of age with a unilateral cleft lip and alveolar ridge with or without the involvement of the palate, nonsyndromic, and who had already undergone primary reconstructive surgeries. Standardized digital photographs in the frontal and oblique submental views as well as in right and left profile were obtained, and the aesthetic features of the nose, lip, and nasolabial region were evaluated. In the first study, three experienced evaluators performed aesthetic analysis of the lip, nose, and nasolabial region by using the Asher-McDade esthetic index and it was compared full-face photographs and cropped images of the nasolabial region. However, no statistically significant difference was observed between the scores (Statistical Analysis Cronbach\'s alpha). The second study was conducted using only cropped photographic images of the nasolabial region in order to verify potential differences in the assessments of health professionals with and without experience in cleft lip and palate. A consensus score obtained from the assessments made by the professionals permitted the determination of a correlation between facial aesthetics and the following variables studied: laterality of the cleft, sex of the patient, and the source hospital. Evaluation of the assessments of the inter raters revealed highly reliable assessments made by the experienced professionals group as well as those made by the group of professionals without experience, where Statistical Analysis Cronbach\'s alpha was applied. By using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, both the experienced professionals and without experience did not observe any statistically significant difference in the aesthetic attractiveness of the lip and nose; however a statistically significant difference was observed in the nasolabial region (p = 0.002) when the professional group revealed a higher degree of satisfaction as compared to the group of professionals without experience. The Mann-Whitneys Test revealed a statistically significant association between the aesthetics of the lip, nose, and nasolabial region only with regard to one variable i.e., the source hospital (p = 0.002, 0.034, and 0.026, respectively). The results of this study suggest that there was no difference in evaluation of the aesthetic results when full-face photographs or cropped images of the nasolabial region were used. Compared to the professionals without experience assessors, the experienced professionals evaluators showed higher satisfaction with the aesthetic appearance of the nasolabial region; however, no difference in results was observed in the analysis of the lip or nose alone. No correlation was observed between the aesthetic outcomes and the laterality of the cleft and sex of the patient. However, the source hospital was associated with the aesthetic outcome, thereby producing lower levels of outcome satisfaction.

Procuramos no presente trabalho verificar em que medida o álbum fotográfico Brasil pode ser considerado um caso exemplar da dimensão visual brasileira das décadas de 1940 e 1950 quanto à representação do país nesse tipo de suporte específico. Ao sintetizar diversas identidades visuais regionais, segundo um discurso articulado entre o editor, fotógrafos e consumidores, o álbum fotográfico configura-se como um documento visual privilegiado para entendermos as imagens-ícones dessa sociedade, sendo seu conjunto a iconosfera. A fim de ratificarmos o discurso visual desse álbum, analisamos outras bases documentais como revistas ilustradas, livros didáticos e mesmo outros álbuns fotográficos, com o objetivo de identificar um rol de imagens recorrentes em diversos suportes visuais suas ocorrências em Brasil. Para tal proposta, utilizamos instrumentos metodológicos oriundos de outros estudos, denominados de descritores icônicos e formais, para dar conta da análise imagética. / The aim of this work was to check if the Brasil photo album can be considered an exemplary case of Brazilian visual dimension of the 1940s and 1950s as the country\'s representation in this type of specific support. By synthesizing various regional visual identities, according to an articulated discourse between the editor, photographers and consumers, the photo album appears as a visual document privileged to understand the iconic images of that society, and the whole iconosfera. In order to ratify the visual discourse of this album, we analyzed other documents as illustrated magazines, textbooks and even other photo albums, with the aim of identifying a list of recurring images in different visual media in their occurrence Brasil. For this proposal, we use methodological tools from other studies, called iconic and formal descriptors for the imagery analysis.

Esta pesquisa partiu do princípio de que a fusão entre arte e vida é capaz de fortalecer e reinventar nossa relação estética com o mundo. O objeto de análise está vinculado à experiência do Projeto Vila Educação e Arte, realizado entre os anos de 2008 e 2010, na cidade de Paranaguá, no estado do Paraná. Foram investigadas as mudanças significativas nos processos de perceber e simbolizar, bem como no desenvolvimento da sociabilidade dos estudantes, a partir da experiência vivida ao longo do projeto. O objetivo central da pesquisa consistiu na análise da articulação entre a experiência poética e a fruição estética como dimensões educativas da arte. Encontramos nas abordagens fenomenológicas de Gaston Bachelard e Michel Maffesoli fundamentos para o aprofundamento das potencialidades das ações educativas em arte. Para ambos faz-se necessária uma nova epistemologia, que deve se revelar antipositivista, antiformalista e antirrealista, na qual o mundo ficcional, bem como o mundo vivido, possam ser incorporados como elementos fundamentais do processo humano de produção do conhecimento e da vida. Acreditamos que se quisermos de fato aproximar arte e vida, as situações de aprendizagem em arte devem primar pela diversidade das experiências espelhadas no lugar e nos sujeitos. Esse processo deve contribuir para valorizar a produção artística como uma dimensão viva da rede simbólica, que dá sentido às experiências e à existência humana. O reconhecimento e a valorização da diversidade no processo educativo possibilitam criar condições para que as singularidades possam brotar diante da pluralidade, expressa nas várias formas de compreender e dar significado ao mundo. / This research assumed that the fusion between art and life is able to strengthen and reinvent our aesthetic relationship with the world. The object of analysis is linked to the experience of Education and Art Village Project, conducted between 2008 and 2010 in the city of Paranagua, in Parana state. Significant changes were investigated in the processes of perceiving and symbolizing, as well as the development of social skills of students, from the experience throughout the project. The central objective of the research consisted in analyzing the relationship between the poetic experience and aesthetic enjoyment of art and educational dimensions. We found in the phenomenological approaches of Gaston Bachelard and Michel Maffesoli fundamentals for the deepening of the potential of educational actions in art. For both it is necessary a new epistemology, which should prove to be anti-positivist, antiformalista and antirrealista, in which the fictional world and the lived world, can be incorporated as key elements of the human process of knowledge production and life. We believe that if we are indeed approaching art and life, their learning experiences in art should strive for diversity of experiences mirrored in place and subjects. This process should help to enhance the artistic production as a living dimension symbolic network which gives meaning to human existence and experience. The recognition and appreciating of diversity in the educational process make it possible to create conditions for which the singularities can spring forth from the plurality expressed in various ways to understand and give meaning to the world.

O autor explora o corpo neutro do referente da imagem fotográfica e o resultado da sua pesquisa é este conjunto de narrativas. Cada uma é construída a partir dos retratos da família e desenvolvida em diálogo com outros autores. Ele conta em particular a história de um homem e de uma mulher. Mas eles não são um casal. Ele é avô dela. E ela, ainda criança nestas imagens, é agora mãe do autor. Ele lê no verso do retrato dela: \"Vimeiro 1968\". É a costa ocidental portuguesa. Lugar onde se travou a batalha com os franceses no início do século XIX e, pelo que parece, destino de férias da sua família. Lugar esperado e distante, onde águas doces e salgadas se encontram e a ilha de Saturno pontua o horizonte. Ilha granítica situada no oceano Atlântico, a meia dúzia de milhas do Cabo Carvoeiro. No horizonte do Vimeiro, onde o avô ensinou a criança a nadar. Acontecimento testemunhado pelo aparelho fotográfico do pai e comprovado até hoje pelos retratos do álbum da família. Nestas férias o avô ensinou-a a nadar e o seu pai foi fotógrafo, a avó cozinhou e a mãe costurou um sorriso, não fosse ter chorado na Rocha do Conde de Óbidos quando ele embarcou no paquete Pátria da Companhia Nacional de Navegação no dia 29 de Agosto de 1961. / The author explores the referent\'s neutral body in the photographic image and the result of his research is this set of narratives, each one built from the family\'s portraits and the dialogue with other authors. He tells in particular the story of a man and a woman. They are not a couple though. He is her grandfather and she, a child in these images, is now the author\'s mother. He reads on the back of her picture, \"Vimeiro 1968\". It is the Portuguese west coast. Where the battle with the French was fought in the early nineteenth century and, it seems, his family\'s vacation destination. Expected and distant place, where fresh and salt waters meet and Saturno Island punctuates the horizon. Granitic island situated in the Atlantic Ocean, half a dozen miles from Cabo Carvoeiro. In the horizon of Vimeiro where the grandfather taught the children to swim. Event witnessed by the father\'s photographic apparatus and today testified by the pictures in the family\'s album. This holiday grandfather taught her to swim, father was photographer, grandmother cooked, and mother sewed a smile, had not she wept in Rocha do Conde de Óbidos when he boarded the packet Pátria, of Companhia Nacional de Navegação, on August 29, 1961.

O trabalho tem por objetivo realizar uma leitura de imagens a partir de dois projetos autobiográficos de Perec: W ou a memória da infância e Récits dEllis Island, levando em conta as relações entre texto literário, fotografia e memória autobiográfica. Essa leitura será marcada, sobretudo, pelas ideias de Barthes, já que ao longo dessa pesquisa serão citados diversos trechos do seu livro A câmara clara - Nota sobre a fotografia, a partir do qual o crítico nos levará a levantar alguns questionamentos concernentes à obra de Perec. Na primeira parte do trabalho, serão apresentadas algumas interações entre o texto de Perec e outras artes, partindo em seguida para a delimitação dessa interação entre texto e fotografia. Essa será a questão principal no trabalho, discutida detalhadamente em relação aos dois textos mencionados, na segunda parte em relação à W e na terceira em relação à Ellis Island. Nessas duas partes, o objetivo principal será investigar de que maneira as imagens fotográficas farão parte do processo de escrita e quais os desdobramentos dessa inter-relação na produção do texto literário. / The study aims to perform an image reading of two autobiographical projects by Perec: W, or the memory of childhood and Ellis Island, taking into account the relationship between the literary text, photography and autobiographical memory.This reading is led, mainly, by Barthes considerations, since many aspects brought to this study are originally taken from his text Camera Lucida - Reflections on photography, in which the critic supports us to raise some issues related to Perecs work. In the first part of the study some interactions between Perecs text and other arts are presented, so later this interaction is delimited to text and photography. This is the leading issue of the study, specifically discussed with regards to the two mentioned texts, i.e., in the second part related to W and in the third part related to Ellis Island. In these two sections, the main purpose is to investigate how the photographic images take part into the writing process and which are the consequences of this inter-relationship in the literary text production.
