discursifs produisent tel discours ?
do Pará (SEDUC)?
A pesquisa utiliza operadores teórico-metodológicos

This thesis is a study of the historical formation of regional discourse on the issue Amazon and its relation to the national-developmentalist period in Brazil. In its first part, the study presents the goals and theoretical-methodological work, based on the method of Michel Foucault archeogenealogical and the theory of ideology of Paul Ricoeur. Then the study presents the historical basis of conceptual and ideological training of the cycle of developmentalism in Brazil, as well as the theoretical discourse and the regional question in Brazil. In this part, what is evident is the importance of the correlation and interdependence between the regional issue and the formation of national discourse of development in Brazil and in that sense, the work of Celso Furtado stands out as an important element of development discourse that will represent interpretation of a regional issue as constituting a larger project of national development. At the end of the paper, we highlight the connection between the institutional environment of national-development and the formation of a Brazilian tradition of regionalist thinking that Amazon will have great influence in the 40 and 50, and will be responsible for preparing a development discourse regionalist from the
influence of authors such as Euclides da Cunha and Gilberto Freyre. Authors such as Arthur Cezar Ferreira Reis, Leandro Tocantins and Djalma Batista, among others, are considered some of the most responsible for drafting an intellectual discourse that, according to one of the main conclusions of the study, has its conditions of possibility created and driven from the reality political-institutional context that is the formation of developmental institutions in the Amazon in the 40 and 50. Forming a discursive formation which will assign the name of developmentalism-regionalist. / UFPA - Universidade Federal do Pará

From subjectivity to agency : Michel Foucault and Hannah Arendt on "refugees", "problems" and "solutions"Saunders, Natasha E. G. January 2016 (has links)
This thesis makes a historically grounded theoretical contribution to an emerging “critical” approach to refugee studies. Utilising the insights of Michel Foucault and Hannah Arendt, it seeks to reconceptualise academic and policy understandings of what has come to be known as “the refugee problem" through an examination and critique of its (implicit) conceptual foundations. The thesis proceeds through a series of historically-informed moves oriented by the relationship between power, subjectivity, and agency, and argues that the key to reconceptualising the refugee problem lies in understanding how these three concepts rely upon and reinforce one another in a particular historically contingent configuration. The objectives of this thesis are threefold and connected. First, it unpacks a deceptively unproblematic term, “the refugee problem” to reveal the complicity of understanding the “refugee (as) problem” in perpetuating the plight of increasing numbers of the world's population, despite the alleviation of the difficulties these people face being the professed goal of the refugee regime. Second, in so doing it contributes to a growing body of literature seeking to counter the voicelessness and abjection into which refugees and asylum seekers are cast. And third, on the basis of this, to begin a conversation about rethinking the nature of the “solutions” we seek to a reframed “refugee problem.” Engaging in a (Foucaultian) genealogical analysis of “the refugee problem”, the first half of the thesis charts the historically-contingent development of a distinct “refugee problem discourse”, revealing that the construction of refugees as passive victims of political forces is the effect both of such discourse and of the international refugee regime as a classificatory regime of truth and subjectivity, rather than an expression of any essential nature of “the refugee.” The thesis then turns to Hannah Arendt's work as a theoretical lens through which to reframe our understanding of the “refugee problem” and to investigate how to identify and open up creative forces for re-subjectification processes and “solutions” not tied to the classificatory and subjectivising logic of the refugee regime or sovereign state system. Practices of rights claiming, and the City of Sanctuary movement in the UK are examined as two such processes, with the potential of posing “counter-narratives” of problems and solutions which challenge the technocratic, or population-management, approach of the refugee regime.

This dissertation aims at analysing the objectifying of violence for UNICEF from problematizing the life circle notion, which represents a strategy adopted by such agency in order to face violence. A historicaland documental research of the book published in 2005, “Analise da violência contra a criança e o adolescente, segundo o ciclo de vida no Brasil - conceitos, dados e proposições”, was performed. The analyses were based on the archeogenealogic methodology as proposed by Michel Foucault. It was observed that the production of violence in this document considered its range and specificity of manifest in each life phase. Thus, UNICEF intended to operate a biopolitical management of the bodies of impoverished children and adolescents in Brazil through a neoliberal and calculated perspective. It was concluded that the knowledge/power practices implekented by this agency objectives risk control through individualising the matter of violence, which in our analysis contributes to stigmatising underpriviledged families considered to be the main actors in reproducing violence.

This dissertation aimed to perform an analytic of power over some care practices in effect Socioducativo Female Center of Pará - CESEF. Were used as the main tools for the analysis of these practices problematizations made by Michel Foucault on power-knowledge relationships forged on the Modern States and several national and international authors who dialogue with the research undertaken by this thinker, in a perspective of the New History. Through documentary analysis and field observations, we seek shooting questions related to singular events of the technologies of disciplinary power and biopolitics crossing discursive and non-discursive operationalized during the fulfillment of educational measures of detention of young women considered authors of offense on the drive socio-researched and political effects that these events are fired whenever a level of analysis of knowledge and power. It was possible to identify, describe and analyze how the cartography of power in modernity, described by Foucault have effects current practices in technical service, activities considered teaching and schooling, in workshops, spatial arrangements, producing punishments and attempts at regulation and standardization bodies.

as fundamentam.
This work had as the goal to glimmer the modes of subjectivation, present on the
complex relationship of know-can of a legal contrivance, able to create a specific
category of person: the subject infringer. According to Foucault (1997), the modes of
subjectivation are the processes through which we become subject, that is, the
means by which we are caught by the relationship of forces involved in the process
of production of subjectivities. Therefore, certain knowledge and techniques present
in several contrivances to which we connect or are connected - are considered
modes that subjective us, causing-in and constituting-in as they act like normative
types and way to be. To understand part of the speeches about the "subject infringer"
and practices that act on it, as part of the forces that is, can be a way to provoke any
type of cleft in the legal contrivance that insists in justify its action on behalf of a
speech "protection" and "recovery" .If it is not possible to think in modes of
subjectivation without linking them to the government issue, we ask from a
genealogical study, practices of know-can-subjectivation present in the dossier of an
adolescent in fulfillment of Socio-Educational Measure Hospitalization. To
understand the modes of subjectivation as governmental strategies, confront a set of
techniques - disciplinary, regulations and practices of themselves - and some of
knowledge considered legitimate that gives a fundamental structure. The binary
divisions produced by disciplinary instruments constitute the "abnormal" – in this
case, the "subject infringer" –, to the detriment of what is considered to be "normal" –
the "subject citizen", in which they wish to make-so. Thus, we seek through several
techniques that adolescents hospitalized, separated of the desired "normality" and
"identified" to the speeches that focus on the "infringer", become easy targets of the
government techniques formed especially to deal with this category of people. Finally
we see that, to justify the imprisonment of young people, the supposed function to
recover the "deviations" conceals the tone punitive measure Socio-Educational of
internment and lift a supposed corrective-educational character, which still exist as
the main against "criminals" that the is legal contrivance constitutes.

論述的眾生相:《尤利西斯》中女性角色主體光譜之研究 / Multiple Discursive Lives: A Spectrum of Women's Subjectivities in Ulysses黃郁珺, Huang, Yu-chun Unknown Date (has links)
The goal of my thesis is to argue that Joyce’s portrayal of the female characters in Ulysses fleshes out Foucault’s theoretical formulation of the interplay of discourse, power and knowledge, and individual subjectivity. Studying the appearances of the female citizens in 1904’s Dublin and how they are shaped into such appearances, I argue that Joyce’s characterization demonstrates Foucauldian distrust of the discursively elaborated truth (truthful knowledge) and anxiety about the encompassing exercise of power and discourse functioning in an individual’s sense of self and subjectivity. More importantly, Joyce envisions a spectrum of subjectivities in his delineation of these Irishwomen—the spectrum that expresses distinct degrees of subjectivities formed in different individuals in the face of various discursive practices incessantly entrenching and shaping their lives. In this spectrum, Joyce also prefigures the actualization of Foucauldian struggle for the coming about of a self-determined and autonomous subjectivity in an individual against the ubiquitous discursive dominations.
Chapter One and Two focus on the normalization mechanism of discourse and the discursive power-effect achieved in the individual. In Chapter One, the discussion is to demonstrate how the discourse of Irish nationalism incorporates what Foucault theorizes about the normalizing technologies by means of which a specific discourse attains its discursive effect and exerts coercion upon the individual. The lying-in Mrs Purefoy in “Oxen of the Sun” represents the subjection and omni-disappearance of the individual’s subjectivity within the discursive network. Chapter Two stresses the simultaneously individualizing and normalizing forces of discursive power concerning the making of an individual subjectivity. With their interactive gestures and responses to discourses, Gerty and the two Ormond barmaids seem to have attained the individual identity of her own, whereas the presumable individuality of theirs is still enveloped in the process of normalization. Foucault’s critical attitude towards the “truthfulness” of the so-called truth and the neutrality of any seemingly truthful knowledge finds a counterpart in Molly’s soliloquy in “Penelope”—the finale of Ulysses. Discourse as a construct on which Foucault insists is incorporated in the interrogative attitude that Molly has towards the ostensibly neutral discursive statements. Molly’s actions and thoughts register her subversive and resistant gestures towards the imposing discursive practices. She would epitomize the possible actualization of the Foucauldian prospect of an autonomous and self-determined subjectivity taking form in the individual. From the omni-subjection of an individual to the individuality within normalization and to the coming forth of the individual’s subjectivity, my discussions of Mrs Purefoy, of Gerty and the two Ormond barmaids, and of Molly comprise a spectrum showing distinct power-effect demonstrated respectively in these women through discursive practice. My study does not intend to stereotype the result of discursive practice imposed upon these women by locating these female characters in such a spectrum of subjectivities. Rather, I see the spectrum as a multiplicity of subjectivities taking shape in distinct individuals confronted with discourse and power. In addition to sharing the similar insight with Foucault, Joyce rather has the vision, prior to Foucault’s theorizing, in which the Foucauldian anticipation of the liberation from the regime of discourse is made possible. The enormous pressure facing today’s people in the forming of subjectivity is definitely the normalizing power, the imposing discursive knowledge as truth, and the power-effect which shapes individuals’ life without being discerned. It is to be hoped that the correspondence between Joyce’s characterization and Foucault’s critical concerns could propose a practicable solution to the issue of individual subjectivity.

Foucault's archaeology of political economy : for a rethinking of the methodology and historiography of economicsLima, Iara V. January 2006 (has links)
This thesis has two main objectives. First, it accomplishes a detailed critical reading of Michel Foucault’s writings on the archaeology of knowledge, focusing on the emergence of political economy. Second, it explores some possibilities opened up by his work for a rethinking of the historiography and methodology of economics. The first results from the fact that there have been very few assessments of his archaeology of economics, not only in economics itself, but also in the fields of philosophy and history of thought in general. Although it may be possible to find some applications in economics of notions and concepts introduced by him, this has mostly been done without a detailed critical analysis of his writings. Thus, it is considered here that it is first necessary to go back to his writings and to develop a very careful reading of them in order to be able to explore them in a second stage. As for the second, the main argument is that his archaeology has important contributions that are still missing by economists. The study is developed in two parts. The first part is dedicated to a meticulous reading of the The Archaeology of Knowledge and The Order of Things, ending up with an assessment. Part II develops an analysis of his contributions in three areas of research in economics: methodology of economics, historiography of economic thought, and studies on Adam Smith’s context. This analysis is considered itself an important contribution of this thesis. Chapter 3 situates Foucault’s perspective and system among other current interests in economic methodology, comprising basically three parts. First, it identifies one common fundamental question underlying some of these interests, that is, whether there is an underlying configuration in knowledge that permits us to think what we think in economics in a certain moment in time and space. It is argued that Foucault’s archaeology makes important contributions to this strand. Second, it compares his approach to the current interest in rhetorical studies in economics. Third, it gives special attention to the historiography of economic thought through the investigation of the interplay between the notion of the ‘episteme’ and the Kuhnian concept of ‘paradigm’. Chapter 4 explores and assesses his archaeology of political economy in The Order of Things and briefly indicates some of the important ideas provided by him in his lectures at the Collège de France in 1978-79, which give some hints for the possibility of investigating the current epistemic context underlying economics. The last chapter concentrates on Smith’s writings on language and rhetoric, the methodological conception underlying his writings, and the notion of invisible hand, according to Foucault’s system. This latter essentially shows the potentiality for his system to improve the level of consciousness of our past and emphasizes that it opens up a series of possibilities of further and interesting inquiries. The thesis concludes with an appraisal of Foucault’s contribution and additional issues for further enquiry.
