[pt] O BRINCAR COMO DEVIR: DA CRIATIVIDADE PRIMÁRIA ÀS PRÁTICAS DA LIBERDADE / [en] PLAYING AS BECOMING: FROM PRIMARY CREATIVITY TO PRACTICES OF FREEDOM

ARTHUR MARINS FRANCO 21 March 2024 (has links)
[en] The COVID-19 pandemic raised several questions for contemporary subjectivities, one of them being the tension between individual freedom and collective care. From this field of tensions, we proposed an investigation of subjectivation based on what Donald Winnicott named as an environmen-individual set-up. Thematizing the infantile as that which begins from the arrangement between individual and environment, we undertook a theoretical study of the convergences and differences between an environmental plane, articulated to Winnicott s theory of dependence, and a drive plane of subjectivation, inherent in the subject s relationship with their urges and desires. Maintaining a dialogue with freudian metapsychology, we connect this infantile to playing, suggesting that the pursuit of self that is inherent to it can also be thought of as a non-intellectualized practice of freedom that articulates dependence and drive satisfaction.

Imagining a NeoFreudian Mind Interface: A Normative Model of Medical Humanities Research

Tiller, Samuel Perry 29 July 2019 (has links)
This thesis argues for a new theory of medical humanities practice and research, known as Mind Interface Theory. It begins with the claim that Sigmund Freud expanded medical metaphysics considerably in "A General Introduction to Psychoanalysis," and that this expansion affords the possibility of thinking of the mind as a user interface. Capitalizing on this affordance, the work then introduces mind interface theory as one possible imagining of Freud's metaphysical system, separate from his well-known theory, psychoanalysis. More specifically, it uses his discussion of dreamwork to reveal reprocessing as mind interface's mechanism of healing, before utilizing this reprocessing principle to orient the medical humanities' research, providing a theoretical framework for increased collaboration between humanists and physicians and a foundation for two distinct modes of activist scholarship: product-based and process-based. / Master of Arts / This thesis participates in medical humanities scholarship by advocating for a specific theory of the field that stems from a reading of Sigmund Freud’s Introduction to Psychoanalysis, a brief series of lectures which were written down for public consumption. Instead of using psychoanalysis itself to form a theory of the medical humanities, my work abstracts the broader suppositions on which psychoanalytic interpretation is rooted. This broader framework I call Freud’s medical metaphysics and define as the assumptions about causation and disease which form the basis for his philosophy of medical treatment. In making this distinction, I can more ably build my own theory of a mind interface on the fact that the basic structure of the metaphysics advocated in the lectures implies a vision of the mind that can be likened to a modern user interface. Through conceiving of the mind in terms of a user interface, I use mind interface theory to frame treatment in such a way as to promote a humanist theory of healing. The purport of the method is that humanists can assist patients through helping them utilize signs, language, and symbols to reprocess their experience. The advocation of this method is then applied to current threads in medical humanities scholarship to suggest that efforts in the field would be best served if they were directed towards studying the artifacts of patient populations for narrative and rhetorical strategies which were effective with coping with a specific illness and fostering an environment where patients are encouraged to produce such artifacts.

[pt] PSICANÁLISE E FEMINISMO: UMA DISCUSSÃO ACERCA DO CONCEITO FREUDIANO DE FEMINILIDADE / [en] PSYCHOANALYSIS AND FEMINISM: A DISCUSSION ON THE FREUDIAN CONCEPT OF FEMININITY

JULIANA DE ALMEIDA MOURA MILANI 17 June 2024 (has links)
[en] This dissertation performs a reading of the concept of femininity in Freudian theory in the light of a feminist perspective. We understand that this concept – considering its complexity and relation with the theoretic body of psychoanalysis – carries important aspects of Freudian thought on women. This incursion is done taking into account innovative as well as conservative aspects of that theory. We investigate such constructs through a discussion between psychoanalysis and feminism, whose aim is to question the misogyny present in that field of knowledge and to open space for a perspective oriented by feminist epistemology. Initially, we analyze how psychoanalysis has placed itself with regards to feminist policies of its time, the breaches and convergencies of psychoanalysis in relation to its historical and cultural context of origin. Additionally, we present the hallmarks of the history of the oppression of women since its rise in the 19th century, and its influence in the production of knowledge. We start from the notion that to think about the place and time of the development of a science, as well as its multiple interpretations, is what allows a more rigorous critical analysis. After this historic contextualization, we deepen the conceptual discussion by mobilizing studies on hysteria and Freudian writings on culture and sexuality – important antecedents to the construction of the concept of femininity. Lastly, we present the notion of femininity in feminist theory, placing women as subjects of this discussion, and introducing patriarchy as a political component that needs to be accounted for in the debate regarding feminine subjectivity.

O trauma na obra de Freud: ramificações conceituais e consequências clínicas / The trauma in Freuds work: conceptual ramifications and clinical consequences

Vahle, Marina de Andrade 17 August 2012 (has links)
Our proposal is to perform a theoretical investigation regarding the concept of trauma in Freuds work, as well as the set of problems it responds to. We aimed to research if the theory of trauma would have in fact disappeared in the period between the abandon of the seduction theory and the constructs of 1920, as defended by some authors in the psychoanalytic literature. Our hypothesis is that the notion of trauma would have continued to sustain the Freudian theory of psychic suffering, not only through sporadic appearances of this concept during this period, but also, implicitly, by means of the set of problems related to it as the etiology of neurosis and of the major clinical cases of Freud: Dora, Rat Man and Wolf Man. Thus, primarily we searched for the notion of trauma and its ramifications throughout the wok and, afterwards, we performed a study of these three clinical cases, looking up for possible traumatic configurations in the history of their protagonists. We came to the understanding that Freud does not always treat the same kind of trauma throughout his writings: the term remains, but with different meanings. There would be, therefore, implicit subtypes of trauma in the Freudian discourse trauma by rupture, trauma as lack of mediation between fantasy and reality and, yet, clues to think of a trauma as a narcissistic fault. From these subtypes, we approached the clinical consequences of the reinterpretation of this concept, from the differential diagnosis viewpoint. Next, we pointed out how the eminently economic aspect that permeates the category of trauma influenced in Freuds view about the devices used by the analyst in the clinic. Following the ramifications, as well as the clinical scope of the notion of trauma, consists in a task that may offer us theoretical tools for the understanding of the types of traumatic constellations underlying the intolerable suffering of those who look for the psychoanalytic clinic

We have listed the specific objective as the following: to analyze the influences of affectivity in education. The following questions have been addressed: What are the contributions of Morin and Freud to the concept of affectivity? What are the influences of the use of affectivty in education? The nature of this research focuses on the bibliography and scholarly works of Morin and Freud. In the course of the research, it has been noted that the phenomena of affectivity are varied, constant and unavoidable. They permeate the entire life of any individual. In interpersonal relationships, their manifestations and influences are intense. Especially when they involve children and adolsecents, who are extremely vulnerable, because they are in the midst of forming their own character. Affectivity is positive when it is in the sphere of emotions of subjective well-being, and it can be of great contribution to the performance of the educator in the classroom through the processes of tachinha and learning. However, when affectivity is negative, it can lead to conflicts within a group, which can be very detrimental to the group’s goals. Interpersonal relationships are charged with antagonistic influences within them, which involve the defense mechanisms that are universal to every individual. Often times, teachers can unconsciosuly influence their students in a very negative way. Therefore, in the field of education, the search for knowledge in regards to the functioning of the human mind by the teacher can be of great benefit. The educator who invests in the pursuit of this type of knowledge, with no doubt, has the plausible attempt to be successful in his or her pedagogical practice. An Introduction to Lacanian Psychoanalysis: Seminars 1 and 2

Martin, Noah 01 1900 (has links)
My thesis is an introduction to Lacanian Psychoanalysis--and assumes all of the connotations of the word "introduction". I have tried to make it as clear and simple as possible, constantly reiterating each point in hopes that the reader will find some sort of conceptual handle in which to gain access to Lacan's world. This thesis begins with an attempt to situate the Lacanian project in its historical and theoretical context. I proffer the contributing factors that led Lacan to initiate his Seminar followed by the theoretical tasks he wished to accomplish therein. I then transition into a discussion dealing with the underlying mechanisms of language that form Jacques Lacan's specific strand of psychoanalysis. With Lacan's understanding of the functioning of the signifier in place I shift into a topological discussion of the individual symbolic concepts crucial to an understanding of the nature of Lacanian psychoanalysis. Throughout this discussion I endeavor to show how the concepts interrelate and influence the formation of all the parts of the nascent amorphous theoretical whole; all the while drawing on examples from popular culture in order to illustrate these concepts to the non-specialized reader. In the third and final section of the thesis I discuss how these concepts are manifest in the psychoanalytic practice--the actually existing analytic session. I venture a guess at how these concepts effect the work of the analyst and the analysand in order to suggest an explanation of what the terminus of analysis looks like.

Goethe v psychoanalytické literatuře / Goethe in psychonalytic literature

Křížová, Ivana January 2014 (has links)
The theoretical thesis, which aims to find and compare different conceptions and interpretation of the life of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The interest of this thesis is centered on the interpretation of Goethe's relationship with his sister. Interpretation of the relationship of Goethe and his sister is based on two approaches, the psychoanalytic and historical approach. Psychoanalytic approach is represented by Sigmund Freud and Kurt Eissler, who offer interpretations of some aspects of the relationship of Goethe with his sister. Historical approach is represented by Richard Friedenthal and Astrid Seele. They submit biographical context of the poets life and also point to his relationship with his sister. On the basis of these sources are data analyzed within psychoanalytic theory. To explain Goethe's relationship with his sister is thinking about the form of their incestuous sibling relationship or oedipus complex.
