Author: Bc. Anna Pavelková Title: Correlation of physical activity, motor skills and flat feet in children aged 7-15 years Objectives: The aim of the diploma thesis is to map the level of physical activity of selected age population of children that were indicated for physiotherapy, based on a questionnaire of physical activity PAQ-C. To monitor whether we find physical activity at levels 1 and 2 out (low physicalactivity)outof 5 levelspossible in children with flatfeet,on the basisof the PAQ- C questionnaire. Further objectify the flatfeet using a podoscope, and determine the level of the flatfeet according to Clement. Confirm / disprove the effect of the level of flatfeet on the achievement of the percentile (component and total) of the test battery MABC-2 in the evaluation of motor skills (especially balance and gross motor skills). Methods: A group of 15 children aged ± 10 years with diagnosed flatfeet (indicated for individual or group physiotherapy) formed a research sample for our study. Probands filled out an anamnestic questionnaire and a questionnaire on physical activity PAQ-C. Photographs of the plantogram of patients' were taken from the podoscope using a Huawei P9 Lite mobile camera (2017) placed on a tripod. The level of flatfeet was evaluated according to Clement based on the...

Production et usage de la littérature en libre accès : une comparaison internationale

Simard, Marc-André 10 1900 (has links)
Open Access (OA) is a process that aims to make research output freely available on the public internet, allowing the users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full text without any financial, legal or technical barrier. OA has often been suggested as a potential solution to several problems related to the scientific publishing industry: a minority of for profit editors accounting for half of the entire publishing industry, important budget cuts and rising subscription prices in academic libraries, and access to knowledge in lower-income countries. The OA movement originated from the growing demand to make research more accessible worldwide. It has been gaining a lot of momentum, with the implementation of several OA policies by funding institutions and the development of several new platforms (e.g., Open Journal System, African Journals Online, SciELO, and Érudit) that facilitate the publication of OA content at low cost. Studies have shown that between 20% and 50% of research articles are currently available online at no cost, but only a few have compared the use of OA literature at the country level and from a worldwide perspective. Along these lines, this master’s thesis aims to provide a global picture of the current state of OA adoption by countries, using two indicators: publications in OA and references to articles in OA. We find that, on average, low-income countries are publishing and citing OA at the highest rate, while upper-middle income countries and higher income countries publish and cite OA articles at below world-average rates. These results highlight national differences in OA uptake and suggest that more OA initiatives at the institutional, national and international levels are needed to support a wider adoption of open scholarship.

Plavecký výcvik dětí se specifickými poruchami učení v mladším školním věku / Swimming training of children with specific learning disabilities in younger school age

Šťastná, Hana January 2021 (has links)
The work was reflecting the effect of basic swimming training and the water environment on the fine motor skills of the upper limbs in a group of pupils with specific learning disabilities. Part of the work is a comparison with a group of pupils of the same age with specific learning disabilities without said swimming training. The main goal of the work is to observe a group of pupils from a Prague based private elementary school with focus on education of children with specific learning disabilities and evaluation of potential changes in fine motor skills of the upper limbs. The selected group of pupils consisted of children diagnosed with one or more specific learning disability, such as developmental dysphasia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, dyslexia, ADHD syndrome and Asperger's syndrome in ages 8 to 10. The training was a mandatory basic swimming training in third grade and happened during the school year 2018/2019 with total of 15 participants. Input testing for fine motor skills and test of level of swimming abilities were organised in the beginning of the training. Output testing was organised in February of 2019 after completion of 20 hours of swimming training. This was then compared to level of fine motor skills of a group of pupils of same age without basic swimming training. Key words swimming...

An analysis of how price fluctuations for commodities impact performance of Swedish industrial companies / En analys om hur förändringar i råvarupriser påverkar prestationen för svenska industriföretag

Rippe, Albin, Oksanen, Henrik January 2022 (has links)
The relationship between performance for the Swedish industry and changesin prices and volatility of commodities has been examined using multiple linearregression. The study focuses on how commodity price fluctuations correlate withgross profit growth, measuring company performance. Gross profit as a performancemeasure is contrary to most previous studies that use stock performance as thedependent variable. This study has found two commodities whose prices have asignificant relationship with changes in gross profit for the Swedish industry sector,Brent oil, and platinum. The correlation with Brent oil is the most reliable one.Surprisingly, Brent oil has a positive relationship with gross profit, even thougha higher oil price is causing more expensive logistics and manufacturing operations, increasing costs of sold goods. This indicates a possible correlation between oil priceand demand for manufactured products; industrial companies can either increaseprices or produce at a high capacity. Regarding the volatility of commodities, nosignificant correlation with gross profits has been found.

Fluvial Architecture and Reservoir Modeling Along the Strike Direction of the Trail Member of the Ericson Sandstone, Mesaverde Group in Southwest Wyoming

Trevino, April Anahi 01 July 2019 (has links)
The Trail Member of the upper Cretaceous Ericson Sandstone, part of the Mesaverde Group, is exposed along hundreds of square kilometers through Wyoming along the flanks of several Laramide structural uplifts. This presents a unique opportunity to study the detailed architecture based on bed-scale heterogeneity and better assess the reservoir potential of these strata in outcrop exposure on a regional-scale, and to then relate these observations to producing fields nearby. The fluvial-dominated Trail Member formed as sediments traveled from the active Sevier thrust belt to the Cretaceous Interior Seaway, forming a basinward progradational clastic wedge along a relatively high gradient. The high energy, tectonically active setting led to preservation of sand-rich, often compositionally immature fluvial strata. Though there is an abundance of sand-rich strata in the Trail Member, production from this interval has been unpredictable in current and past fields such as the Trail Unit of southwestern Wyoming.Twelve detailed stratigraphic columns were described at three sites along the eastern flank of the Rock Springs Uplift to show facies heterogeneity beyond what is often available through wells, 69 hand samples were collected for determination of porosity and permeability, and photogrammetric characterization was performed at the three sites. Average porosity decreases along strike from north to south along with net-to-gross. The vertical changes in fluvial architecture within the Trail Member reflect changes in available accommodation. While thickness of the Trail Member is highly variable, ranging between 79 to 108 meters across the study area, there is an overall trend of thickening to the south. Although the character of the Trail strata changes appreciably along strike direction, this interval is consistently rich in sand, and grain size does not change drastically along the length of observed outcrops. This study demonstrated that spatial variability in the thickness, local accommodation, porosity, and net-to-gross of the Trail Member, as well as temporal variability in the amount and character of reservoir sands and channel stacking patterns play an important role in the unpredictability of this reservoir. This study will enable reservoir modeling and aid in future exploration projects within the Trail Member and other comparable systems with similar fluvial architecture and internal heterogeneity.

An Analysis of China’s Economic Engagement in Nigeria and Its Impact on Economic Development : Perpetuating or Challenging Neo-colonialStructures in Nigeria

Udoh, Mkpoikanke Ezekiel January 2024 (has links)
This thesis examines the economic impacts of China's engagement in Nigeria. Various books and journals were used to help in formulating various objectives which include examination of how China’s economic activities in Nigeria perpetuate or challenge neo-colonial structure to find out the socio-political implications of China's economic engagement in Nigeria. To achieve the stated objectives, the study used a narrative literature review methodology (secondary data) in analyzing its findings. The study used Google Scholar for multidisciplinary sources as a search strategy and applying relevant keywords such as "China-Nigeria relations", "Chinese investments in Nigeria", and "economic impacts of China's engagement in Nigeria", one can retrieve a diverse range of scholarly literature spanning multiple disciplines. Thematic analysis (TA) was used to identify, examine, and report patterns found in data to highlight important concepts and ideas. The findings include that there are several economic impacts of Chinese investments in Nigeria such as GDP growth, employment creation, industrialization, and trade expansion. The thesis underscores the presence of neo-colonial elements within Nigeria, with colonial-era administrative systems and extractive economic practices continuing to shape governance frameworks and societal inequalities. China's involvement introduced alternative economic partnerships that offered opportunities for greater autonomy and development. It was also observed that Nigeria's increasing reliance on Chinese investments, loans, and trade partnerships, indicates a growing dependency that influenced policy decisions and domestic priorities. This economic dependency raised concerns about the potential for unequal trade relations and reliance on external aid and investment, echoing neo-colonial power dynamics.

Measuring the accessibility of accountancy programmes with special emphasis on chartered accountancy in South Africa

Terblanche, Ester Aletta Jacomina 10 1900 (has links)
South Africa is experiencing a financial skills shortage with a severe shortage of accountants and chartered accountants in particular. The aim of this study was to measure accessibility of public higher education in South Africa, in general and specifically relating to accountancy programmes with special emphasis on chartered accountancy programmes in South Africa, by making use of selected accessibility indicators. Although some of these indicators have been used to measure accessibility of higher education in general both locally and internationally, they are not often used to measure accessibility of a programme for a particular profession such as accountancy or chartered accountancy. This study aimed to fill this gap by measuring the selected accessibility indicators and providing subsequent rankings of the four public universities selected for this study. The results can be used by institutions that offer accountancy and chartered accountancy programmes as well as the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, as the profession’s Education and Training Quality Assurance body, to evaluate the accessibility of accountancy as well as chartered accountancy programmes. / Financial Accounting / M. 中國增值稅改革之研究 / A Study of the Value Added Tax Reform in China

傅迺婷, Fu, Nai Ting Unknown Date (has links)
The aim of this paper is to illustrate the recent situation of the VAT system in China, including its problems as well as reforming trends within it, in order to provide promising further research paradigms. The research methods adopted exploratory studies to find out the major problems of the VAT system. To clearly describe the problems, statistical analyses are performed and quantitative data is used to supplement the qualitative analysis. Moreover, to discuss the problems of the Chinese VAT system, this paper compares the Chinese VAT system with other countries, especially Taiwan, in order to give a detailed description of its problems. The results of this study show that the Chinese government only concentrates on how much revenue it can collect but ignores tax equity and tax neutrality as well as low income groups. The conclusions of this study show that the problems of the imperfect VAT system and the changing economic conditions of China have resulted in double taxation, an unfair tax burden, an unreasonable threshold, complex VAT rates, and a gradual worsening of local fiscal conditions. In comparisons between GDP growth and VAT revenue growth, VAT revenue growth exceeded the GDP growth. One of the major reasons is rapid economic growth. Other reasons are that price indices increase every year and, also, China adopts gross income-type VAT which results in double tax on capital investment. Another probable reason is an increased effectivity and efficiency of China’s tax administration. Analysis of these problems shows that the Chinese government needs to improve not only its VAT system but also the taxation system and its fiscal system.
