Scrolling on a Shopping Journey : A study of relationships between motivations to use social media, the customer journey and purchase intention

We are currently in the middle of the digital marketing era where technological developments have made it possible for customers and businesses to communicate around the clock. Social media is a tool that makes it possible for companies and brands to create and maintain relationships. To understand social media usage and the motivations behind it, Uses & Gratifications theory is commonly used. Motivations are important when exploring consumer behaviour and understanding the customer journey. A customer journey can be explained as the different touch-points a customer has with a firm during a purchase cycle. Marketing on social media often has different objectives where purchase intention is one important, since it indicates the real value of advertising on social media. Earlier research has not combined these three concepts: motivations to social media usage, the customer journey and purchase intention and this gap got us interested in examining the relationships between these. To do this we developed two research questions: RQ1: Do motivations to use social media affect stages in the customer journey?  RQ2: Do the different stages of the customer journey affect purchase intention?  The purpose of this study is to investigate motivations that lead to social media usage and if these affect the stages in the customer journey, and further how the customer journey affects purchase intention. We also wanted to investigate if usage of social media has changed during the Covid-19 pandemic. To answer our research questions and fulfill the purpose of this study, we conducted a quantitative research targeting students in Sweden.  Based on existing literature regarding social media, motivations, Uses & Gratification theory, the customer journey, customer decision process and purchase intention we created a theoretical framework and a conceptual model whose aim was to explain relationships between motivations to use social media, the stages of the customer journey and purchase intention. We also developed 12 hypotheses that we tested and included in the model. We collected data by using an online questionnaire and then analysed it and ran tests in SPSS. Our results showed that 4 out of 12 hypotheses could be supported: There is a positive relationship between cognitive motivation and the pre-purchase stage of the customer journey; There is a positive relationship between cognitive motivation and the purchase stage of the customer journey; There is a positive relationship between hedonic motivation and the pre-purchase stage and lastly; There is a positive relationship between the pre-purchase stage and purchase intention. The conclusion is that changes in purchase intention mostly rely on the impact of the pre-purchase stage. The pre-purchase stage is in turn affected by cognitive and hedonic motivations to use social media.

A Dynamic State Metabolic Journey: From Mass Spectrometry to Network Analysis via Estimation of Kinetic Parameters

In the post-genomic era, there is a dire need for tools to perform metabolic analyses that include the structural, functional, and regulatory analysis of metabolic networks. This need arose because of the lag between the two phases of metabolic engineering, namely, synthesis and analysis. Molecular biological tools for synthesis like recombinant DNA technology and genetic engineering have advanced a lot farther than tools for systemic analysis. Consequently, bioinformatics is poised to play an important role in bridging the gap between the two phases of metabolic engineering, thereby accelerating the improvement of organisms by using predictive simulations that can be done in minutes rather than mutant constructions that require weeks to months. In addition, metabolism occurs at a rapid speed compared to other cellular activities and has two states, dynamic state and steady state. Dynamic state analysis sheds more light on the mechanisms and regulation of metabolism than its steady state counterpart. Currently, several in silico tools exist for steady-state analysis of metabolism, but tools for dynamic analysis are lacking. This research focused on simulating the dynamic state of metabolism for predictive analysis of the metabolic changes in an organism during metabolic engineering. The goals of this research were accomplished by developing two software tools. Metabolome Searcher, a web-based high throughput tool, facilitates putative compound identification and metabolic pathway mapping of mass spectrometry data by applying genome-restriction. The second tool, DynaFlux, uses these compound identifications along with time course data obtained from a mass spectrometer in conjunction with the pathways of interest to simulate and estimate dynamic-state metabolic flux, as well as to analyze the network properties. The features available in DynaFlux are: 1) derivation of the metabolic reconstructions from Pathway Tools software for the simulation; 2) automated building of the mathematical model of the metabolic network; 3) estimation of the kinetic parameters, KR, v, Vmaxf, Vmaxr, and Kdy, using hybrid-mutation random-restart hill climbing search; 4) perturbation studies of enzyme activities; 5) enumeration of feasible routes between two metabolites; 6) determination of the minimal enzyme set and dispensable enzyme set; 7) imputation of missing metabolite data; and 8) visualization of the network.

The bachelor thesis aims to explore whether students perceive the usage of self-service technology (SST) as positive, neutral or negative, which occurs before, under and after a visit at the library of University of Borås. In this paper, a qualitative user diary was used as a method to gather empirical data. An established UX method, customer journey mapping (CJM), was selected to analyze the empirical findings. The findings were further analyzed with a theoretical framework of the predecessor David Benyon to gain a deeper understanding of user experience in a cross-channel context. The study shows that students are overall positive to the usage of SST, but a deficiency of information affects the positive experience throughout the library.

The thesis is based on monitoring how one represents, creating an environment, how one completes it, or how the human environment is created. When we ask ourselves what our home means for us, we knew we could give it the shape of space. We could describe it as a place where we like to be. Some questions arise. If there is any idea of living at home, if it is as personal, how does each of us perceive home in his intimacy as well? How did it become the architecture itself? The goal of the work is to translate the understanding of the home through a specific situation. I choose a village in Slovakia, Čechynce, which has more than 1000 inhabitants. The architectural design itself does not adapt to the creation of a home as a house. He wants to point out that the home is not in an isolated system of walls, but in an ability of distence and in a chance to return again.

Beyond the Plate : A qualitative study on atmospheres impact oncustomer experiences in the Swedish restaurantindustry.

This thesis was conducted to get a better understanding on how the atmosphereimpacts a restaurant experience in Sweden. To investigate which factors influence arestaurant's atmosphere, the customer journey model and FAMM-model will beutilized. A qualitative research method was used, the data was collected throughsemi-structured interviews where 14 customer interviews and 2 expert interviewswere conducted. The authors started out with an deductive approach that wascombined with an inductive to create an abductive approach. The authors found thatatmosphere has a significant impact on customers' restaurant experiences where thesenses play a crucial role in creating a good experience. However, the findings aredependent on the restaurant's setting and personal perspectives from the customer.The research shows that customers priorities differently when it comes to thedifferent periods of the customers atmospheric experience journey. Where thebefore and under the service factors have different impacts depending on andprioritization. The authors can therefore see that it is important for customers thatthe restaurants communicate their atmosphere, both before and during the serviceperiod to create more satisfied customers. The authors can imply that the discoveryprovides a way for restaurants to become more competitive and create a moresatisfying atmosphere for their customers. This thesis provides an opening forfurther research on atmosphere impact on customer experience.

With storytelling opening the potential of engaging audiences in taking climate action, this thesis gives insights into the storytelling of three climate podcast hosts and theor potential to encourage individual and/or collective action through storytelling in the listener. Through analytical listening, storytelling elements were found in all three podcasts that denote a deep focus on the climate crisis as a crisis that calls for collective solutions.

“No this will not work out to combine with the rest of my life” : the Career Development of Female Football Elite Coaches in Sweden

The aim of this study was to explore the career development of Swedish female elite football coaches, how they have experienced their journey as a coach, what have been perceived as prosperities and adversities, how that has affected and been handled by the participants. Collecting the data by low-structured interviews, thus the participants got to describe their journey, in chronological order, following a couple of key questions. The participants consisted of 12 Swedish elite female women football coaches. The analyzing method used was a reflexive thematic analysis. The data analysis resulted in three main themes: Beginning - From player-to-coach transition, Continuation - Searching for sustainability and, Today - Making decisions for the future. These in turn have sub-themes that explain the participants' different experiences from their journey, for example challenges and strategies. The primary conclusion made was that sustainability among the participants was of great importance for their journeys. Implications that the study can contributed to are new knowledge for future female coaches, sports organizations and how they can work to facilitate and create a more sustainable journey, to, eventually, making the profession more attractive.

Stockholm archipelago has over the centuries been fairly unknown and anonymous place for many. Unless you were involved in fishing or trade you did not know much about this sea landscape. Besides its commercial value it had also a military significance for a long period. During Gustav Vasa’s reign Vaxholm was decided to consolidate in order to protect the entrance to Stockholm by sea. Up until mid 20th century it was occupied mainly by fishermen and farmers. It was a place where people lived, studied and worked because of its natural riches. In the early 1900s more and more land was bought by rich Stockholmers for recreation purposes. A new typology has appeared on the islands, great summer villas. Even artists and writers were drawn to this place, including August Strindberg, Bruno Liljefors and Gustaf Fröding. After WW II, the population in archipelago rapidly declined. It was mainly due to compulsory education. People were forced to seek places to settle on mainland where higher education facilities were located. It also offered a wider range of jobs. The islands were slowly transformed from agricultural land into recreational resorts for the rich. Nowadays, it is very popular summer holiday destination among Stockholmers and many others which is represented by 50 000 summer cottages that are spread out on many of the islands. It is becoming a luxury holiday destination with popular water sports and fast loud boats disturbing the natural habitat of archipelago. thesis The aim of this project is to better understand complex nature of Stockholm’s Archipelago, its inner working and relation between natural habitat and people. Through series of sensitive micro-interventions I would like to tell a story of archipelago, provide a “path“ to follow and explore this beautiful biotope. However, this should be achieved in meaningful and practical way. These small (temporary) structures range from a bench with a beautiful view of the sea, tree house library, public WC, floating sauna to a small desalination plant for residents as well as tourists. The objective is to provide a sustainable future experience of the Stockholm archipelago as well as education and information regarding preservation and protection of the environment.

In this paper customer journey for B2B SaaS business models was analyzed to study customer experience, customer success and its key performance indicators. The research method is the case study of Supplier Relationship Management SaaS solution provider. In recent years, the research in customer journey management identified the tendency of acknowledge customer journey as a differentiator and a competitive advantage. Customer journey is a complex process that entails structured customer experience/success measurement system. There is no standard approach or method that provides standardized set of metrics to be applied for every journey. For SaaS solutions term “customer success” is relevant to customer experience with the solution and an indicator of customer loyalty. The purpose of the research is investigation of B2B SaaS business model and definition of key performance indicators of customer success. The case study aims to open a framework for discussion what is customer success in B2B SaaS solutions, when does it appear, and how a company influences and ensures customer success. / I den här rapporten analyserades kundresan för B2B SaaS affärsmodeller för att studerakundupplevelsen, "customer success" och dess viktigaste resultatindikatorer. Criminal Mobility Of Robbery Offenders

The current paper addresses the mobility and willingness to travel of robbery offenders. A five-sector robbery typology was constructed, consisting of: personal robbery, commercial robbery, carjacking robbery, home-invasion robbery, and robbery by sudden snatching. Defining mobility as the straight-line distance between the offender's home residence and the location of the robbery offense, the extent of criminal mobility for each type of robbery offense was analyzed. Using geographical information system (GIS) technologies and, more specifically, geocoding software programs, the latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates of the offender's home and offense's location was determined. It was found that a subset of robbery offenders exhibit relatively high mobility across all five robbery types. However, distinct mobility patterns also emerged between the different types of robbery offenses. Policy and research implications from these findings are discussed.
