Manoel Bomfim e formação de professores: reflexões sobre Lições de Pedagogia (1915) / Manoel Bomfim and the teachers education: reflection supon Lições de Pedagogia (1915)

Gisele dos Santos Oliveira 01 December 2014 (has links)
Bomfim began his works in education in 1896 as a vice-director in the institution Pedagogium. In this Institute he also served as a director for a long time, between the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. In this very period he was also professor at the Escola Normal do Distrito Federal, having published several books, among them this one transformed into core of this dissertation. Bomfim reports that the summaries of his classes at the Escola Normal were turned into a book in 1915, with the concern of not losing contents taught during the period he stood as professor in the said school. He needed to keep safe memories of the work he had developed during his teaching the course of pedagogy. Curricular Reforms were then carried out in that Institution, tending to unify the pedagogy and Psychology courses. Accordingly, much of the content for the field of psychology was removed from the program, with disagreeing of the author. For this reason, Manoel Bomfim has never admitted in his classroom the book in its material format, although their content was as matter of fact taught. In this work we intend to analyze general aspects of book Lições de Pedagogia (1915) as document of memory of the educational practice of the author as a teacher of future teachers for the Primary or Elementary Education of children, aged between six and fourteen years old, in Rio de Janeiro, Federal District and capital of the Republic of Brazil. In order to construct this reflection, the reading of four theses submitted in 1890 to the Faculdade de Medicina do Rio de Janeiro have been added. With this reading we intended to relate traits of the authors medical training with the requirements for the Escola Normal materialized in the book with three editions of 1915, 1917 and 1926, being latter edition worked in this dissertation. Another work incidentally considered in this reflection relates to the book Pensar e Dizer (2006 [1923]), in which Bomfim reflects upon the symbol and the language , concepts he also worked in Education

Mazzeu, Ian Rittmeister 19 December 2012 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-06-02T20:23:14Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 4865.pdf: 985023 bytes, checksum: c9744ac7b753197dea235a618ba7cf1e (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-12-19 / This work discusses the production of video lessons made for E-Learning courses. It is written according to what Paulo Freire calls a problem-posing concept of education, on which dialogue is the key element for the consolidation of the educational process. The approach onto the video lesson object is done through two consonant ways: the educational processes on which it is inserted and the audiovisual language over which it is build up. Therefore, regarding the educational processes, the main concepts discussed in here are the problem-posing education and the banking education, as conceived by Freire, plus the dialogue constituents, as stated by Bakhtin. On the audiovisual language matters, it is of great concern the problem of the spectator identification the interlocutor of a video lesson. Thus, in order to debate it, this work will present its main components, such as the plan, the montage and the sound. After that, it will examine how their different arrangements may incur in what Ismail Xavier describes as the opacity and the transparency of the audiovisual speech. There is, as well, a revision over video lessons on a historical perspective, concerning the Brazilian context, where some initiatives are detached, such as Telecurso and the movies produced by the Instituto Nacional de Cinema INCE. Lastly, there are some results concerning a Case Study of a video lesson produced for a class of the Pedagogy Course of the Federal University of São Carlos UFSCar, which is an elearning course.

The Structured Border Lesson: The Effectiveness of Controlling the Entry and Exit Environment of the Private Music Lesson

Kafer, Harold A. (Harold Alan) 08 1900 (has links)
The study addressed the problem of recurring technical and musical errors exhibited by students in their private lessons. In an effort to remedy this problem, an attempt was made to structure the entry and exit environment of the private lesson in such a way as to increase the improvement in performing skills by scheduling thirty minutes of practice immediately before and immediately after the private lesson. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect on growth in performing skills (as measured by sight performance) of this arrangement called the Structured Border Lesson (SBL).

It's aim is to analyse The potentialities and limitations of a teaching approach which proposes the use of the computer, particularly the dynamic geometry software GeoGebra, and the methodology of investigative math classes. This teaching approach was applied to students of the 8th year of an Elementary Education public school located at Sapucaia do Sul/RS, Brazil. These students already studied rational numbers at school in previous years. Thus this numerical field has been taken into account with the intention to check and bypass possible learning deficits, as well as increase knowledge of these numbers through investigations in which it could be observed some your characteristics. For this purpose, we proposed activities that simultaneously articulated different representations of rational numbers. The research is based in a qualitative paradigm. The teaching approach is presented at the end of this text as an alternative way for teaching rational numbers and other teachers in view of the analysis can consider its potentialities and limitations. From the results, we can highlight the visuals of the GeoGebra software, which favored students the understanding of rational numbers and their regularities and the investigative - technological scenario, which caused them to remain engaged in research as their learning agents.

Design Thinking Instructional Problems (DTIP): Exploring the Perspectives of K-14 STEM Teachers on the DTIP Approach to Developing Instructional Lessons

January 2018 (has links)
abstract: A reform movement in the United States has focused on STEM education and 21st century soft skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. This spotlight on STEM instruction provided an opportunity to explore how K-14 STEM teacher participants perceived a Design Thinking Instructional Problems (DTIP) approach to developing instructional lessons. The study used a convergent parallel mixed-methods design with a survey instrument and a multiple case study focused on K-14 in-service STEM teachers. Data were collected from teacher participants during two five-week summer Research Experience for Teachers (RET) programs as part of two separate National Science Foundation (NSF) funded Engineering Research Centers (ERC) located at a large southwestern university in the United States (n=16). The study was conducted over three phases. During Phase I and II, teacher participants experienced a Design Thinking Overview workshop and weekly DTIP professional development sessions to facilitate the development of an RET instructional lesson. Pre- and post-program DTIP surveys and background interviews were conducted with all teacher participants (n=16). From this original group, teacher participants were selected as cases. Implementation observations and post-implementation interviews were conducted with these case-teachers (n=10). The study included frequency analysis and descriptive statistics of survey data. Qualitative data were analyzed using direct interpretation, thematic analysis, and open coding with the constant comparative method. A variety of arrays, summaries, and matrices were used to visualize patterns across and within individual case-teacher results. All 16 teacher participants viewed themselves as designers solving complex instructional problems. All 16 teacher participants found the DTIP professional development sessions to have somewhat to very much provided additional value during their RET summer programs. Six of the 10 case-teachers perceived the DTIP model graphic as mostly to completely corresponding to the way in which they developed their RET instructional lesson. Lastly, eight of the 10 case-teachers chose to embed a Design Thinking student learning strategy into the RET instructional lesson they developed. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Educational Technology 2018

Sink or Swim: Understanding Mexican American Constraints and Facilitators for Swim Lesson Participation

January 2013 (has links)
abstract: The problem of the study was to investigate constraints and facilitators of Mexican American parents when deciding whether or not to enroll their children in formal swim lessons as a means of drowning prevention. The information obtained by this study (1) helps create awareness about youth drowning incidents and (2) provides insight about Mexican American perspectives and behaviors toward drowning prevention through, or not through as the case may be, youth formal swim lesson participation. This study's sample was purposively selected using typical case and snowball sampling techniques. Individual interviews were conducted with Mexican American parent participants and focus group interviews were conducted with aquatic personnel. From April to August, individual and focus group interviews were conducted in the border towns Sierra Vista, Bisbee, and Douglas in the state of Arizona. There were a total of 25 Mexican American parent participants: 10 had never enrolled their children in swim lessons and 15 had experience enrolling and observing their children in swim lessons. There were 3 focus groups interviews of aquatic personnel experts: Sierra Vista had 6, Bisbee had 7 and Douglas had 9 participants. The theory used to identify and classify the types of constraints and facilitators described in the findings of this study was the Leisure Constraints Theory proposed by Crawford, Jackson and Godbey, 1991. Finding from this study suggest that despite the uncommon perception, Mexican Americans youth are actually participating more in formal swim lessons than they have in past generations. Mexican American families in this sample reported major constraints for formal swim lessons as a reliance on learning form family and friends, swimming at private pools, money, time, and transportation as barriers to participation. Facilitators for Mexican American youth to participate in formal swim lessons are youth drowning awareness, education, lack of parental swimming ability, generational social norm behavior changes, financial assistance and an attitude shift in favor of formal swim lessons. / Dissertation/Thesis / M.S. Lições da arquitetura: leituras a partir de poéticas / Lessons architecture : readings from poetry

Luciano Margotto 26 April 2016 (has links)
This dissertation has its origins in the uneasy relationship with theory that arises in a project, that is, from the perspective of one who is in a position to produce it, so to speak, taking into account the chain of decisions and operations that give rise to it. It relies on the principle that aesthetics is as much a philosophical reflection as it is an empirical contemplation, both inseparable and complementary. It investigates concepts that revolve around the values, contemporary or not, of aesthetics, art, literature, and other fields of knowledge applied to architecture. At the same time, it examines mostly Brazilian architectural works that belong to what has come to be called the modern movement. It does, however, include some significant exceptions. Having avoided their compartmentalization, as well as the disconnection of ideas, it stresses the uniqueness and multiplicity of each work in order to establish a framework in which the chapters are weaved together, allowing the lessons to interact with each other and the analysis to build bridges between works and between architects and other professionals, as well as defining what architecture is and should be. Here are five lessons based on architecture, shaped by readings inspired by poetics - constructions of language based on doing - which are mainly positive, but still concerned with the primary idea of simultaneity, not linearity; reconfirming permanence, as well as suggesting the possibility of new points of view in contemporary debate.
