Der Einfluß der Ausarbeitung mit verschiedenen rotierenden Instrumenten auf die Randqualität und Oberflächenmorphologie von zahnfarbigen lichthärtenden Restaurationen

Bunte, Henning 19 November 2001 (has links)
In this study a newly developed tungsten carbide finishing bur (Brasseler) and conventional coarse and fine grit finishing diamonds of the companies Intensiv and Brasseler were studied with four different filling-materials. The carbide bur is a combination-instrument, that distinguishes itself in the right-hand rotation by a high performance and is intended for the contouring of fillings. When used in a left-hand rotation the instrument should be applied for polishing. In this case the cutting performance is inferior. Oval class-V-cavities (length: 4 mm, width: 3 mm, depth: 2 mm) were prepared into 120 extracted human teeth with one half of the margin length in dentin and one half in enamel. In each case, 30 teeth were filled according to manufacturer-recommendation with the same filling-material (Prodigy, Silux Plus, Dyract AP, Fuji LC). Subsequently the restorations were trimmed with the coarser finishing diamonds and the combination bur with a right-hand rotation. Ten samples of each filling-material were ground with one of the instruments. Thus 12 material-instrument-combinations were established. After three weeks of water-storage, the surface roughness of the fillings was measured with a profilometer. Furthermore, an evaluation of the margin-quality was carried out by means of quantitative margin analysis. After this, the fillings were either polished with the finer diamond-instruments or with the combination-instrument in a left-hand rotation. Afterwards the samples were subjected to a thermocycling procedure (2000 cycles between 5°C and 55°C). Again a quantitative margin analysis and a surface-roughness-measurement were performed. In contrast to the fine diamond instruments, the statistical evaluation of the data revealed that the combination finishing bur does not improve the surface quality in a left-hand rotation. The effect of the instruments on the margin quality is the same. Fuji LC shows the highest surface-roughness, the other filling-materials do not differ statistically significantly from one another. The Silux Plus restorations are characterized by a high percentage of marginal openings in both enamel and dentin. The Prodigy fillings show significantly more marginal gaps in dentin than Fuji LC and Dyract AP fillings, but significantly less than Silux Plus in the same area.

Grapheme-to-phoneme conversion and its application to transliteration

Jiampojamarn, Sittichai 06 1900 (has links)
Grapheme-to-phoneme conversion (G2P) is the task of converting a word, represented by a sequence of graphemes, to its pronunciation, represented by a sequence of phonemes. The G2P task plays a crucial role in speech synthesis systems, and is an important part of other applications, including spelling correction and speech-to-speech machine translation. G2P conversion is a complex task, for which a number of diverse solutions have been proposed. In general, the problem is challenging because the source string does not unambiguously specify the target representation. In addition, the training data include only example word pairs without the structural information of subword alignments. In this thesis, I introduce several novel approaches for G2P conversion. My contributions can be categorized into (1) new alignment models and (2) new output generation models. With respect to alignment models, I present techniques including many-to-many alignment, phonetic-based alignment, alignment by integer linear programing and alignment-by-aggregation. Many-to-many alignment is designed to replace the one-to-one alignment that has been used almost exclusively in the past. The new many-to-many alignments are more precise and accurate in expressing grapheme-phoneme relationships. The other proposed alignment approaches attempt to advance the training method beyond the use of Expectation-Maximization (EM). With respect to generation models, I first describe a framework for integrating many-to-many alignments and language models for grapheme classification. I then propose joint processing for G2P using online discriminative training. I integrate a generative joint n-gram model into the discriminative framework. Finally, I apply the proposed G2P systems to name transliteration generation and mining tasks. Experiments show that the proposed system achieves state-of-the-art performance in both the G2P and name transliteration tasks.

Comparative Study of the Chemostratigraphic and Petrophysical characteristics of Wells A-A1, A-L1, A-U1 and A-I1 in the Orange Basin, South Atlantic Margin, Offshore South Africa.

Bailey, Carlynne. January 2009 (has links)

Many hydrocarbon reservoirs are situated in barren sequences that display poor stratigraphic control. Correlation between the wells can become extremely difficult and traditional correlation techniques can prove to be inadequate. Past studies have shown that trace and major element concentrations can be used as a correlation tool. This practice of using geochemical fingerprints to characterize between wells is called Chemostratigraphic analysis. (Pearce et al, 1999) Chemostratigraphy has been recognized as a very important correlation technique as it can be used for rocks of any age, in any geological setting as well as sequences that are traditionally defined as barren. Chemostratigraphic analyses can be used as a means of getting rid of ambiguities within data produced by traditional correlation methods such as Biostratigraphy, Lithostratigraphy and Geophysical Logging. In areas where stratigraphic data is not available it can be used to construct correlation frameworks for the sequences found in the area. The motivation behind this study is that the research is not only worthy of academic investigation, but can also provide the industry with new insights into areas that were previously misunderstood because traditional correlation methods were not adequate. The study area, the Orange basin, is located offshore South Africa and is largely underexplored. The basin, that hosts two gas field namely the Ibhubesi and the Kudu gas fields, has large potential but in the past has not been given due attention with only 34 wells being drilled in the area. The Orange basin has recently been the topic of investigation because of the belief that it may be hosts to more hydrocarbons. This study will utilise Chemostratigraphy to attempt to provide geological information on this relatively under-explored basin. The aim of this research study is to produce a chemostratigraphic framework -scheme for the Orange Basin in order to facilitate reservoir scale interwell correlation. The Objectives of this research study will be to identify chemostratigraphic units or indices, to prove the adequate use of chemostratigraphy as an independent correlation technique and to integrate the chemostratigraphy and petrophysical characteristics of the four wells to facilitate lithological identification.

The Late Proterozoic to Palaeozoic Tectonic Evolution of the Long Range Mountains in Southwestern Newfoundland

Brem, Arjan Gerben January 2007 (has links)
Ever since the first plate-tectonic model for the Appalachians was proposed, the Laurentian margin has been interpreted as having experienced a collision-related dynamo-thermal event during the Middle Ordovician Taconic orogeny. In the western Newfoundland Appalachians, evidence for this collision is well-preserved in the Dashwoods subzone. Nevertheless, rocks of the neighbouring Corner Brook Lake block (CBLB), which is located in the heart of the Laurentian realm, did not show evidence for such an event. Instead, it was affected by Early Silurian Salinic deformation and associated peak metamorphism. Even though this difference in Early Palaeozoic tectonic history between the Dashwoods and the CBLB is widely known, it has not been satisfactorily explained. To better understand the Early Palaeozoic history of the region, in particular to test and better explain the lack of a Taconic dynamo-thermal event in the CBLB, field mapping, microscopic work, and U-Pb and 40Ar/39Ar geochronological studies were undertaken in the western and northern part of the Dashwoods subzone, and in the southern part of the CBLB. In addition, the kinematic history of the Baie Verte-Brompton Line - Cabot Fault Zone (BCZ), the tectonic zone that separates the two unique tectonic fragments, was studied. The western and northern parts of the Dashwoods subzone contain variably foliated igneous units of Middle Ordovician age (ca. 460 Ma) that are associated with the regionally voluminous Notre Dame continental arc. A ca. 455 Ma conjugate set of late syn-tectonic pegmatite dykes in the BCZ demonstrates a dextral sense of shear along the BCZ (DBCZ-1) during the Late Ordovician to earliest Silurian, and constrains the minimum age of the main phase of ductile deformation in the Dashwoods subzone. The fault-bounded CBLB has been affected by a single west-vergent deformational event, constrained between ca. 434 and ca. 427 Ma. More importantly, no evidence – neither petrographic nor geochronological – is present that would indicate that the CBLB was affected by a significant Taconic dynamo-thermal event. Hence, the CBLB and Dashwoods could not have been juxtaposed until after the late Early Silurian. Furthermore, the basement to the CBLB is devoid of any Grenville (sensu lato; ca. 1.0-1.3 Ga) U-Pb ages, which is in sharp contrast with crystalline basement elsewhere in the region, such as the Long Range Inlier. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that the CBLB represents the para-autochthonous leading edge of the Laurentian craton in the Newfoundland Appalachians, as commonly accepted. The CBLB is interpreted as a suspect terrane that has moved over 500 km parallel to the strike of the orogen. Docking to the external Humber Zone is likely to have occurred during the Early Silurian. Final juxtaposition with the Dashwoods took place after the late Early Silurian (post-Salinic) as a result of protracted dextral movement along the BCZ (DBCZ-2 and DBCZ-5). Current tectonic models for the Newfoundland Appalachians mainly focus on well-documented Early Palaeozoic orthogonal convergence of various terranes with the Laurentian margin, but large-scale orogen-parallel movements have rarely been considered. The possibility of large-scale strike-slip tectonics documented here, in addition to the convergent motions, may have significant implications for the tectonic interpretation of the Early Palaeozoic evolution of the Newfoundland Appalachians.

Electric cars : The climate impact of electric cars, focusing on carbon dioxide equivalent emissions

Ly, Sandra, Sundin, Helena, Thell, Linda January 2012 (has links)
This bachelor thesis examines and models the emissions of carbon dioxide equivalents of the composition of automobiles in Sweden 2012. The report will be based on three scenarios of electricity valuation principles, which are a snapshot perspective, a retrospective perspective and a future perspective. The snapshot perspective includes high and low values for electricity on the margin, the retrospective perspective includes Nordic and European electricity mix and the future perspective includes electricity on the margin for modest and high climate goals at 2030. The study is applied to an upcoming climate smart district, Brunnshög in Lund, and the goal is to determine the amount of emissions of carbon dioxide equivalents for the mentioned alternatives. The environmental effects depends largely on the fuel consumption for the compared types of cars and what electricity valuation principle that is used. The car fleet of 2012 generated 10 300 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. The future car fleet generated 400 tonnes of emissions for Nordic electricity mix, 3 200 tonnes for European electricity mix, 3 100 tonnes for electricity on the margin with low values, 5 800 tonnes for electricity on the margin with high values, 1 200 tonnes for electricity on the margin at 2030 for high climate goals and 4 600 tonnes for electricity on the margin at 2030 for modest climate goals. The emissions of carbon dioxide equivalents are at least halved in Brunnshög if 100 % electric cars are used instead of the composition of petrol, diesel and ethanol cars that are primarily used in Sweden 2012. Hence, the result shows that the electric car is very beneficial from an environmental and health perspective, compared to the composition of cars in Sweden 2012. However, how beneficial the electric car is, largely depends on the fuel consumption for both the electric car and the alternative compared with. Although to be able to increase the use of electric cars there are many challenges that need to be dealt with. In order to increase the use of electric cars, it will require further work in the development of batteries, expansion of charging points and other incentives, such as legislation and investments. It will also require a significant technology development to increase the range of the electric car. A natural step in the transition phase could be plug-in hybrids. It is also important to continue to implement climate smart districts, such as Brunnshög in Lund.

Vad är den främst avgörande faktorn vid privatkundens val av marginalbank? : en studie om hur demografiska skillnader påverkar privatkunders val av marginalbank samt se hur deras val kan användas vid segmentering

Lindh, Jenni, Persson, Frida January 2012 (has links)
Purpose: The aim of this study is to explain what the cardinal factor is when clients choose their marginbank by comparing demographic variables and how their choice can be used in segmentation. Method: To reach results for the analysis a positivistic approach and a deductive projection have been used. The research is based on a survey studying people in Hässleholm and Ängelholm. The collected data has been analyzed using crosstabs. Theoretical perspective: This study is based on previous research within the area that have been used to identify factors that can explain the aim of this research. Conclusion: The analysis resulted in a conclusion showing that when private clients choose their margin bank great offers and bonuschecks matters. It also showed that banks, based on this paper, should use differentiated marketing when segmenting their customers.

Using Linear Fractional Transformations for Clearance of Flight Control Laws / Klarering av Styrlagar för Flygplan med hjälp av Linjära Rationella Transformationer

Hansson, Jörgen January 2003 (has links)
Flight Control Systems are often designed in linearization points over a flight envelope and it must be proven to clearance authorities that the system works for different parameter variations and failures all over this envelope. In this thesis µ-analysis is tried as a complement for linear analysis in the frequency plane. Using this method stability can be guaranteed for all static parameter combinations modelled and linear criteria such as phase and gain margins and most unstable eigenvalue can be included in the analysis. A way of including bounds on the parameter variations using parameter dependent Lyapunov functions is also tried. To perform µ-analysis the system must be described as a Linear Fractional Transformation (LFT). This is a way of reformulating a parameter dependent system description as an interconnection of a nominal linear time invariant system and a structured parameter block. A linear and a rational approximation of the system are used to make LFTs. These methods are compared. Four algorithms for calculation of the upper and lower bounds of µ are evaluated. The methods are tried on VEGAS, a SAAB research aircraft model. µ-analysis works quite well for linear clearance. The rational approximation LFT gives best results and can be cleared for the criteria mentioned above. A combination of the algorithms is used for best results. When the Lyapunov based method is used the size of the problem grows quite fast and, due to numerical problems, stability can only be guaranteed for a reduced model.
