This research proposes – to investigate about the the routine in a do campo school with a multi-leveled class in a town in an specific area of Minas Gerais (Zona da Mata). It aims to comprehend and to reflect about the importance of do campo schools and its specificities to a do campo community. It will be used bibliographic research involving some important works of different times, congress proceedings, statistical yearbooks and the relevant legislation. The theoretical contribution will be the anthropology of the imaginary, that allows us to have a sensitive eye and let us able to reflect the possibilities of exploitation of do campo culture in school. It is observed that the multi-leveled classes not always represent the best methodological alternative to the community, but, as a way of meeting the do campo population, they are implemented. However, they allows socialization in the transmission of knowledge, in the placement of beliefs and values, and also in the interaction of its subjects, in the social relation with the community and in the routines that manifest the range of the school environment. In the analysis movement it was possible to notice that the students are able to ritualize similarities and differences – that relate recursively manifestations in the school routine, of the symbolic dimension of the culture of its source group. It is established among them and people of school relations that depend on the affective-structural space and on the several roles that such space perform in the institution.

Abstract: The main purpose of the investigation is to broach the pedagogical coordination and the formation group process in a school. / Abstract: This research has as study objects the school management in its daily complexity, with the objective to contrubute to the thinking about the formation of the manager on its own work place. The understanding of the process that constitute the work of management is sustained in a group of narratives, selected among the daily school events, with basis on benjaminianism and larrosianism concepts of experience. The methodology was the narrative investigation. In the events narrative reconstitution, besides the memories of the investigator-narrator and manager herself, distinct material were used: manager's annotations, and other colleagues of management, school documents, legal documents, meeting reports, and also interviews with involved persons in each of the events, including not only teachers but also other workers of school and members of the community. The crossroads of the information and data of there different empircal materials allowed a bigger approximation from the facts here taken as the beginning of the thinking. The organization of the facts narrated here, after a first analysis, obbey to thematical criteria: the management of the times and spaces of the school; the bigger relations of the school neighborhood community in the constitution of the School's Council and the implication of legal decisions about the application of the legislation independently of the concrete conditions of the school to attend them. A lesson was extracted of every story and theme for the managing execution. And every lesson was studied based on a bibliography pertinent to the theme and the education management. The three main lessons can be substantiated in the following titles: (a) even being derivated from a traditional management, it's the administrative responsiblity to manage the conflicts related to times and spaces; (b) for a democratic management the constant contact to the community around is very necessary, thus for the comprehesion of the region and the school itself, as to manage the present respecting the past to everybody construct a future; (c) the public policies that sometimes express themselves in the form of laws, independently of the concrete conditions of the school to execute them, open spaces for the judicialization of the offering of education imposing "ad hoc" solutions for specific cases with the loss of the bigger goal from the public policy that originated the legislation. This research was benefited by the experiences of daily school work and with the methodology of the narrative investigation of the "Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Educação Continuada" - GEPEC UNICAMP - studies, wich this investigation is affiliated. / Doutorado / Ensino, Avaliação e Formação de Professores / Doutor em Educação

Padronização de processos e rotinas do núcleo de controle e manutenção do sistema de pagamento / Standardization of processes and patterns of the control center and maintenance of the payment system

Rizzetti, Daniele Medianeira 17 July 2014 (has links)
The need for greater administrative efficiency in the public sector makes society increasingly require managers of public institutions who should give priority to the development of its employees skills as well as the utilization of available resources. To make this possible, it is necessary for every individual to know the organizational reality as a whole and not only its function. In this regard, in recent decades, these organizations have made use of some tools in the area of Private Management in pursuit of higher quality and speed in service to the community, making their images respectable to the population. One of the tools that is attracting great interest from managers of public organizations is to standardize processes by mapping them, allowing a greater understanding of how, in fact, products and services are created, clearly showing the problems, the failures and inefficiencies as well as providing benefits, such as reduced process cycle times, decreased costs, improved efficiency and internal efficiency, improving the quality of the work undertaken and increasing the satisfaction of all those people involved. This current study aimed to propose a manual standardization of processes and routines of the Center of Control and Maintenance of the Payment System (NUCOMP) of Coordinator Bureau of Payment Systems (CPAG) of Personnel Management Secretary (PROGEP) at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) for the dissemination and better understanding in the institution. Therefore, it was performed a research of applied nature, with qualitative and exploratory approach related to its goals, using a study case as its method. Data collection occurred from March to April 2014, and the choice of this sector was due to its importance for UFSM, because it is responsible for managing, feeding and operating the Federal System that generates the payroll of all active and retired employees of this institution. The development of this work brought many contributions to both the academic environment, with reflections and suggestions for future work, but also for the target industry study once it provides a current view of it and can eliminate the unnecessary activities and make a better use of time in activities that, in fact, are relevant. Finally, it can facilitate training and the dissemination of knowledge to new servers that may enter NUCOMP, acting as a practical guide for the knowledge of the reality at this workplace.

Kronqvist, E.-L. (Eeva-Liisa) 23 June 2004 (has links)
Abstract The study aimed at researching collaboration in a group of children under school age, its characteristics, organisation of activities and conflicts as well as the cultural and social routines developing through collaboration. The research problem was, firstly, how children's collaboration is organised and how it proceeds and which the characteristics of the organisation of the collaboration are. The characteristics of organisation refer to initiatives and responses to them, their consequences and results of action. Secondly, I wanted to study how the conflicts apparent in the activities are solved and what happens in action after a conflict is solved. Thirdly, the development of collaboration into social routines and differences in organisation between groups of differently aged children were studied. The theme of the study is connected with a research tradition in which children's development is seen in terms of participation in the social environment and the culturally conveyed world, its language, manners and habits. This study focused on children in their everyday activities, constructing their plays together, sharing activities and negotiating. The theoretical background of the study was based on sociocultural theories on one hand and a broad research tradition – systemic theories – on the other hand. Systemic theories also involve relational theories among which this study was contributed to especially by the conception of development and characteristics as relations as well as the significance of communication and collaborative regulation to control development. The collaborative situations that were studied were gathered from children's spontaneous play situations by means of videotaping. Samples containing phenomena under study were picked out from these materials. Then the data was divided into meaningful episodes of initiatives and conflicts that were analysed with a method designed for the analysis of video materials, searching for social routines uniform in content and theme built on the children's peer culture. According to the results, initiatives formed a small-scale yet impressive phenomenon that enabled the children to join in collaboration and with that in the sociocultural world. The children made plenty of initiatives, the most common of them being active verbal motions such as questions, proposals, commands and various motions related to play. There was an active response to these initiatives, but a remarkable number of them were also ignored. Most of the conflicts were connected with the use of things and toys. A strategy to maintain the collaborative relationship was most often chosen to solve them. The study revealed six different social routines in the children's peer culture. The most common social routine was sociodramatic play that is characterised by regular taking of turns in the collaboration, a long duration and positive results. The study also compared the initiatives, responses and conflicts of younger and older children. It was observed that non-verbal action in negotiation situations and the strategy of ignorance in conflicts were more typical of younger than older children.

Putting the Magnifying Glass on NationalVictimization Statistics : A Descriptive Study onLocal Crime Victimization Patterns in a Medium-Sized Swedish City

Forzelius, Adam, Lejfalk, Daniel January 2017 (has links)
Introduction: Crime victimization is a problem affecting both individuals and societies. Previous research has looked at the associations between victimization and other factors, and many countries employ self-reported victimization surveys to establish what the victimization patterns look like at different societal levels. Aims: By examining victimization proportions and patterns, this study aimed to further the understanding of what the crime victimization problem looks like in a medium-sized Swedish city. Method: 149 men and 146 women, for a total of 295 inhabitants of Sundsvall, answered self-reported victimization surveys based on the Swedish Crime Survey. The gathered data was subsequently quantified and analyzed. Results: In total, 11.9 % of the sample reported some type of victimization. Overall, men were more likely to be victimized than women, and crimes against persons were more common than crimes against property. Occupation and socio-economic status were significantly associated with victimization. More than half of the victimizations were not reported to the police, and victimization was significantly associated with a lower trust in the criminal justice system and the police. Conclusion: Medium-sized cities like Sundsvall seem to have considerably lower proportions of victimization than the counties, regions and nation as a whole. The rates of reporting and patterns of victimization found, however, are in accord with findings on other societal levels and could to some extent be explained through the principles of the routine activities/lifestyle theory. /
2017-06-01

AN EXPLORATORY STUDY OF INCAPACITATED PERSONS WITH CRIMINAL BEHAVIORS SERVED BY KENTUCKY’S PUBLIC GUARDIANSHIP PROGRAM

Martin, Karen 01 January 2017 (has links)
State run public guardianship programs are legally mandated to provide custodial care for persons deemed incapacitated by the courts. Historically, the majority of state wards were elderly women residing in skilled nursing facilities. Today, those demographics are rapidly changing. This new incapacitated cohort has become less institutionalized, with a rising number of persons who have entered the program with criminal records and who continue to commit crimes. This exploratory study focuses on incapacitated persons (IP) with criminal behaviors in order to seek what intervention(s) might reduce their criminal activity. Relying on routine activity theory, differing levels of supervision were compared to those persons institutionalized 24 hours per day. The results of the study indicated that as levels of residential supervision decrease, criminal activities significantly increase. This study can assist administrators of public guardianship programs better understanding the supervisory needs of their incapacitated citizens as well as improve safety precautions for their respective communities.

Delving into the Heart of Victimization Risk: Examining the Interactive Relationship between Demographic Factors and Context

Eggers, Amy Sheena 14 November 2016 (has links)
My dissertation sought to expand the study of victimization by examining non-linear relationships across victim, offender, and offense characteristics within a routine activities theory framework. Moreover, my goals were to assess victimization risk using a more realistic approach through the implementation of a situational perspective approach and conjunctive analysis. Conjunctive analysis is an analytical with both quantitative and qualitative properties, which allowed for interpretations that were detail oriented and summative. Utilizing data from the National Crime Victimization Survey, several victim (e.g., demographic factors), offender (e.g., victim-offender relationship), and offense (contextual factors) characteristics were analyzed. Conjunctive analysis was estimated for incidents by victimization type and by race/ethnicity. The results indicated the presence of main (linear) effects and interaction (non-linear) effects. Main effects by victimization type provided support for prior research on victimization risk, such as the majority of victims emerging as young, white, and male. Interaction effects revealed young and female victims were vulnerable to attacks from non-stranger offenders; whereas, older and male victims were prone to stranger attacks. When estimated by race and ethnicity, whites and blacks were also more likely to be attacked by someone with whom they were familiar; whereas, victims categorized as other were more likely to be attacked by strangers. Theoretical and policy implications were discussed.

A 12 year review of routine data for deliveries by teenaged women in public sector health care facilities in the Western Cape Province, South Africa, from 2000 – 2012

Joemat, Janine January 2012 (has links)
Magister Public Health - MPH / Background: The factors that underlie teenage pregnancies are complex and multifactorial. The prevailing perception is that teenage pregnancies are increasing in South Africa. However, the empirical extent and trends in teenage births in the Western Cape Province are not well understood. A systematic analysis of routine health information for the data element.Delivery in facility to women under 18 years for the period 1 April 2000 to 31 March 2012 is presented in order to contribute to documenting and understanding how this problem manifests in the Western Cape Province. Objectives:The objectives of the study were to describe the trends in the number of deliveries for women under the age of 18 years in the Western Cape Province for the period 1 April 2000 until 31 March 2012, and to compare the trends within and between districts. A secondary aim was to explore the quality and usefulness of Routine Health Information in the Western Cape Province focusing on the dataset for deliveries for women under the age of 18 years. Methods:The data for the Province extracted from the Sinjani system (the data repository for health information management in the Western Cape Department of Health) was subjected to a trend analysis at the Provincial, District and Sub-District level. The absolute numbers of all deliveries, and deliveries for women under the age of 18 years as well as proportions of deliveries for women under the age of 18 years were compared across districts, years and seasons. Results were discussed with senior managers in the Department of Health as compared to performance indicators presented in workshop settings to triangulate and help interpret findings.Findings The key finding is that both the absolute number of deliveries for women under the age of 18 years and the deliveries for women under the age of 18 years relative to all deliveries have declined steadily since 2007, while 8 absolute numbers of deliveries in 2012 were only slightly higher than in 2000-2001, despite an increase of 19.4% in the total population of the Province between 2002 and 2011. Despite the decline in the number of deliveries for women under the age of 18 years, the number of deliveries remains high. Seasonal increases in numbers of deliveries coincide with school holidays in most districts. The data analysis also revealed challenges with the quality of the data, and that it is not possible to determine the age distribution of deliveries across women under 18 years from the provincial data set. Routinely collected data do not permit analysis or comparison of births at the ward level where significant socio-economic variations are likely to influence fertility. Conclusions and Recommendations:The data did not support widespread perceptions of rapidly increasing teen births. The declining birth rates and relatively stable proportion of under 18 births relative to all births suggest that adding new indicators throughout the entire routine information system is not justified on public health or economic grounds. However, more detailed and disaggregated evidence is needed to inform locally tailored interventions and could be obtained from alternate sources of information such as point prevalence surveys, annual surveys, or data collection at sentinel sites. While teenage birth rates are not increasing, they remain high. It is recommended that additional service delivery models be explored to ensure that sexual reproductive health services are strengthened and delivered in a manner that would be acceptable to young people. Further, it is recommended that programmatic interventions that target the sexual reproductive health choices made by young people be scaled up in partnership with intersectoral partners and communities in order to mitigate against seasonal increases in the number of deliveries for women under 18 years of age.

The most common orchestral excerpts for the horn : a discussion of performance practice

Armer, Shannon L 12 February 2007 (has links)
This study describes in detail the preparation that must be done by aspiring orchestral horn players in order to be sufficiently ready for an orchestral audition. The general physical and mental preparation, through to the very specific elements that require attention when practicing and learning a list of orchestral excerpts that will be performed for an audition committee, is investigated. This study provides both the necessary tools and the insight borne of a number of years of orchestral experience that will enable a player to take a given excerpt and learn not only the notes and rhythms, but also discern many other subtleties inherent in the music, resulting in a full understanding and mastery thereof. Ten musical examples are included in order to illustrate the type of additional information that a player must gain so as to develop an in-depth knowledge of an excerpt. Three lists are presented within the text of this study: 1) a list of excerpts that are most commonly found at auditions, 2) a list of those excerpts that are often included and 3) other excerpts that have been requested but are not as commonly found. Also included is advice regarding the audition procedure itself, a discussion of the music required for auditions, and a guide to the orchestral excerpt books in which these passages can be found. / Dissertation (MMus)--University of Pretoria, 2007. / Music / unrestricted
