Klasifikace zubů na 3D polygonálním modelu čelisti / Tooth Clasification on Jaw 3D Polygonal Model

This document discusses a solution for tooth classification on 3D jaw polygonal model. Sequentially, I describe techniques for representation and browsing of polygonal model saved in computer memory, techniques for dental curve detection and finally, creation of surface representing approximated tooth plane. After it, I analyze possibilities of height map creation from jaw model which helps in tooth classification in the scope of entire dental curve context and, as a last step, final detection of these teeth in two dimensions. In the same time, I discuss 3D polygonal model segmentation for border extraction, which separates teeth from the rest of the model. In the end of proposed algorithm, I join these two runs into one final detection and classification process of separate teeth, so presented application can automatically indentify and classify teeth to corresponding names and positions with a minimum user interaction. In a second half of this document, I describe implemented solution. According to primary goal, I propose these techniques forcefully to multiplatform approach and maximal user comfort.

Superconformal quantum field theories in string

In dieser Dissertation werden Aspekte von superkonformen Quantenfeldtheorien untersucht, die für die sogenannte AdS/CFT Korrespondenz relevant sind. Die AdS/CFT Korrespondenz beschreibt eine Dualität zwischen Stringtheorien im Anti-de Sitter Raum und superkonformen Quantenfeldtheorien im Minkowskiraum. In diesem Kontext wurde die sog. Wilsonschleifen / Amplituden Dualität entdeckt, die die Übereinstimmung von n-Gluon MHV Amplituden und n-seitigen polygonalen Wilsonschleifen in der N=4 supersymmetrischen Yang-Mills (SYM) Theorie beschreibt. Im ersten Teil dieser Dissertation wird die Wilsonschleifenseite einer solchen möglichen Dualität in der N=6 superkonformen Chern-Simons (ABJM) Theorie untersucht. Das Hauptergebnis dieser Untersuchungen ist, dass der Erwartungswert der n-seitigen polygonalen Wilsonschleifen auf Einschleifenebene verschwindet, während er auf Zweischleifenebene in seiner funktionalen Form identisch zu der analogen Wilsonschleife in N=4 SYM auf Einschleifenniveau ist. Außerdem wird eine anomale konforme Wardidentität für Wilsonschleifen in Chern-Simons Theorie berechnet. Zudem werden die damit im Zusammenhang stehenden Entwicklungen für Amplituden und Korrelatoren in der ABJM Theorie diskutiert. Im zweiten Teil dieser Dissertation werden Dreipunktfunktionen von zwei geschützten Operatoren und einem Twist-Zwei Operator mit beleibigem Spin j in der N=4 SYM Theorie berechnet. Dafür werden die Indizes des Spin j Operators auf den Lichtkegel projiziert und der Korrelator wird in einem Grenzfall untersucht in dem der Impuls der bei dem Spin j Operator einfließt verschwindet. Dieser Grenzfall vereinfacht die perturbative Berechnung erheblich, da alle Dreipunktdiagramme effektiv auf Zweipunktdiagramme reduziert werden und die Abhängigkeit der Mischungsmatrix auf Einschleifenebene herausfällt. Das Ergebnis stimmt mit der Analyse der Operatorproduktentwicklung von Vierpunktfunktionen geschützter Operatoren von Dolan und Osborn aus dem Jahre 2004 überein. / In this thesis aspects of superconformal field theories that are of interest in the so-called AdS/CFT correspondence are investivated. The AdS/CFT correspondence states a duality between string theories living on Anti-de Sitter space and superconformal quantum field theories in Minkowski space. In the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence the so-called Wilson loop / amplitude duality was discovered, stating the equality of the finite parts of n-gluon MHV amplitudes and n-sided lightlike polygonal Wilson loops in N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) theory. It is the subject of the first part of this thesis to investigate the Wilson loop side of a possible similar duality in N=6 superconformal Chern-Simons matter (ABJM) theory. The main result is, that the expectation value of n-sided lightlike polygonal Wilson loops vanishes at one-loop order and at two-loop order is identical in its functional form to the Wilson loop in N=4 SYM theory at one-loop order. Furthermore, an anomalous conformal Ward identity for Wilson loops in Chern-Simons theory is derived. Related developments and symmetries of amplitudes and correlators in ABJM theory are discussed as well. In the second part of this thesis we calculate three-point functions of two protected operators and one twist-two operator with arbitrary even spin j in N =4 SYM theory. In order to carry out the calculations, the indices of the spin j operator are projected to the light-cone and the correlator is evaluated in a soft-limit where the momentum coming in at the spin j operator becomes zero. This limit largely simplifies the perturbative calculation, since all three-point diagrams effectively reduce to two-point diagrams and the dependence on the one-loop mixing matrix drops out completely. The result is in agreement with the analysis of the operator product expansion of four-point functions of half-BPS operators by Dolan and Osborn in 2004.

Métodos para aproximação poligonal e o desenvolvimento de extratores de características de forma a partir da função tangencial

Whereas manually drawn contours could contain artifacts related to hand tremor, automatically detected contours could contain noise and inaccuracies due to limitations or errors in the procedures for the detection and segmentation of the related regions. To improve the further step of description, modeling procedures are desired to eliminate the artifacts in a given contour, while preserving the important and significant details present in the contour. In this work, are presented a couple of polygonal modeling methods, first a method applied direct on the original contour and other derived from the turning angle function. Both methods use the following parametrization Smin e µmax to infer about removing or maintain a given segment. By the using of the mentioned parameters the proposed methods could be configured according to the application problem. Both methods have been shown eficient to reduce the influence of noise and artifacts while preserving relevant characteristic for further analysis. Systems to support the diagnosis by images (CAD) and retrieval of images by content (CBIR) use shape descriptor methods to make possible to infer about factors existing in a given contour or as base to classify groups with dierent patterns. Shape factors methods should represent a value that is aected by the shape of an object, thus it is possible to characterize the presence of a factor in the contour or identify similarity among contours. Shape factors should be invariant to rotation, translation or scale. In the present work there are proposed the following shape features: index of the presence of convex region (XRTAF ), index of the presence of concave regions (V RTAF ), index of convexity (CXTAF ), two measures of fractal dimension (DFTAF e DF1 TAF ) and the index of spiculation (ISTAF ). All derived from the smoothed turning angle function. The smoothed turning angle function represent the contour in terms of their concave and convex regions. The polygonal modeling and the shape descriptors methods were applied on the breast masses classification issue to evaluate their performance. The polygonal modeling procedure proposed in this work provided higher compression and better polygonal fitness. The best classification accuracies, on discriminating between benign masses and malignant tumors, obtain for XRTAF , V RTAF , CXTAF , DFTAF , DF1 TAF and ISTAF , in terms of area under the receiver operating characteristics curve, were 0:92, 0:92, 0:93, 0:93, 0:92 e 0:94, respectively. / Contornos obtidos manualmente podem conter ruídos e artefatos oriundos de tremores da mão bem como contornos obtidos automaticamente podem os conter dado a problemas na etapa de segmentação. Para melhorar os resultados da etapa de representação e descrição, são necessários métodos capazes de reduzir a influência dos ruídos e artefatos enquanto mantém características relevantes da forma. Métodos de aproximação poligonal têm como objetivo a remoção de ruídos e artefatos presentes nos contornos e a melhor representação da forma com o menor número possível de segmentos de retas. Nesta disserta ção são propostos dois métodos de aproximação poligonal, um aplicado diretamente no contorno e outro que é obtido a partir da função tangencial do contorno original. Ambos os métodos fazem uso dos parâmetros Smin e µmax para inferirem sobre a permanência ou remoção de um dado segmento. Com a utilização destes parâmetros os métodos podem ser configurados para serem utilizados em vários tipos de aplicações. Ambos os métodos mostram-se eficientes na remoção de ruídos e artefatos, enquanto que características relevantes para etapas de pós-processamento são mantidas. Sistemas de apoio ao diagnóstico por imagens e de recuperação de imagens por conte údo fazem uso de métodos descritores de forma para que seja possível inferir sobre características presentes em um dado contorno ou ainda como base para medir a dissimilaridade entre contornos. Métodos descritores de características são capazes de representar um contorno por um número, assim é possível estabelecer a presença de uma característica no contorno ou ainda identificar uma possível similaridade entre os contornos. Métodos para extração de características devem ser invariantes a rotação, translação e escala. Nesta dissertação são propostos os seguintes métodos descritores de características: índice de presença de regiões convexas (XRTAF ), índice da presença de regiões côncavas (V RTAF ), índice de convexidade (CXTAF ), duas medidas de dimensão fractal (DFTAF e DF1 TAF ) e o índice de espículos (ISTAF ). Todos aplicados sobre a função tangencial suavizada. A função tangencial suavizada representa o contorno em termos de suas regiões côncavas e regiões convexas. Os métodos de aproximação poligonal e descritores de características foram aplicados para o problema de classificação de lesões de mama. Os resultados obtidos, mostraram que os métodos de aproximação poligonal propostos neste trabalho resultam em polígonos mais compactos e com melhor representação do contorno original. Os melhores resultados de classificação, na discriminação entre lesões benignas e tumores malignos, obtidos por XRTAF , V RTAF , CXTAF , DFTAF , DF1 TAF e ISTAF , em termos da área sob a curva ROC, foram 0:92, 0:92, 0:93, 0:93, 0:92 e 0:94, respectivamente. / Mestre em Ciência da Computação

Induction Motor Drives Based on Multilevel Dodecagonal and Octadecagonal Volatage Space Vectors

For medium and high-voltage drive applications, multilevel inverters are very popular. It is due to their superior performance compared to 2-level inverters such as reduced harmonic content in the output voltage and current, lower common mode voltage and dv=dt, and lesser voltage stress on power switches. The popular circuit topologies for multilevel inverters are neutral point clamped, cascaded H-bridge and flying capacitor based circuits. There exist different combinations of these basic topologies to realize multilevel inverters with modularity, better fault tolerance, and reliability. Due to these advantages, multilevel converters are getting good acceptance from the industry, and researchers all over the world are continuously trying to improve the performance of these converters. To meet such demands, three multilevel inverter topologies are proposed in this thesis. These topologies can be used for high-power induction motor drives, and the concepts presented are also applicable for synchronous motor drives, grid-connected inverters, etc. To get nearly sinusoidal phase current waveforms, the switching frequency of the conventional inverter has to be increased. It will lead to higher switching losses and electromagnetic interference. The problem with lower switching frequency is the intro- duction of low order harmonics in phase currents and undesirable torque ripple in the motor. The 5th and 7th harmonics are dominant for hexagonal voltage space-vector based low frequency switching, and it is possible to eliminate these harmonics by dodecagonal switching. Further improvement in the waveform quality is possible by octadecagonal voltage space-vectors. In this case, the complete elimination of 11th and 13th harmonic is possible for the entire modulation range. The concepts of dodecagonal and octadecagonal voltage space-vectors are used in the proposed inverter topologies. The first topology proposed in this thesis consists of cascaded connection of two H-bridge cells. The two cells are fed from unequal DC voltage sources having a ratio of 1 : 0:366, and this inverter can produce six concentric dodecagonal voltage space- vectors. This ratio of voltages can be obtained easily from a combination of star-delta transformers, since 1 : 0:366 = ( p 3 + 1) : 1. The cascaded connection of two H-bridge cells can generate nine asymmetric pole voltage levels, and the combined three-phase inverter can produce 729 voltage space-vectors (9 9 9). From this large number of combinations, only certain voltage space-vectors are selected, which forms dodecagonal pattern. In the case of conventional multilevel inverters, the voltage space-vector diagram consists of equilateral triangles of equal size, but for the proposed inverter, the triangular regions are isosceles and are having different sizes. By properly placing the voltage space-vectors in a sampling period, it is possible to achieve lower switching frequency for the individual cells, with substantial improvement in the harmonic spectrum of the output voltage. During the experimental veri cation, the motor is operated at di erent speeds using open loop v=f control method. The samples taken are always synchronised with the start of the sector to get synchronised PWM. The number of samples per sector is decreased with increase in the fundamental frequency to limit the switching frequency. Even though many topologies are available in literature, the most preferred topology for drives application such as traction drives is the 3-level NPC structure. This implies that the industry is still looking for viable alternatives to construct multilevel inverter topologies based on available power circuits. The second work focuses on the development of a multilevel inverter for variable speed medium-voltage drive application with dodecagonal voltage space-vectors, using lesser number of switches and power sources compared to earlier implementations. It can generate three concentric 12-sided polygonal voltage space-vectors and it is based on commonly available 2-level and 3-level inverters. A simple PWM timing computation method based on the hexagonal space-vector PWM is developed. The sampled values of the three-phase reference voltages are initially converted to the timings of a two-level inverter. These timings are mapped to the dodecagonal timings using a change of basis transformation. The voltage space- vector diagram of the proposed drive consists of sixty isosceles triangular regions, and the dodecagonal timings calculated are converted to the timings of the inner triangles. A searching algorithm is used to identify the triangular region in which the reference vector is located. A front-end recti er that may be easily implemented using standard star-delta transformers is also developed, to provide near-unity power factor. To test the performance of the inverter drive, an open-loop v=f control is used on a three-phase induction motor under no-load condition. The harmonic spectra of the phase voltages were computed in order to analyse the harmonic distortion of the waveforms. The carrier frequency was kept around 1.2 KHz for the entire range of operation. If the switching frequency is decreased, the conventional hexagonal space-vector based switching introduce signifi cant 5th, 7th, 11th and 13th harmonics in the phase currents. Out of these dominant harmonics, the 5th and 7th harmonics can be completely suppressed using dodecagonal voltage space-vector based switching as observed in the first and second work. It is also possible to remove the 11th and the 13th harmonics by using voltage space-vectors with 18 sides. The last topology is based on multilevel octadecagonal (18-sided polygon) voltage space-vectors, and it has better harmonic performance than the previously mentioned topologies. Here, a multilevel inverter system capable of producing three octadecagonal voltage space-vectors is proposed for the fi rst time, along with a simple timing calculation method. The conventional three-level inverters are only required to construct the proposed drive. Four asymmetric power supply voltages with 0:3054Vdc, 0:3473Vdc, 0:2266Vdc and 0:1207Vdc are required for the operation of the drive, and it is the main drawback of the circuit. Generally front-end isolation transformer is essential for high-power drives and these asymmetric voltages can be easily obtained from the multiple windings of the isolation transformer. The total harmonic distortion of the phase current is improved due to the 18-sided voltage space-vector switching. The ratio of the radius of the largest polygon and its inscribing circle is cos10 = 0:985. This ratio in the case of hexagonal voltage space-vector modulation is cos30 = 0:866, which means that the range of the linear modulation for the proposed scheme is signifi cantly higher. The drive is designed for open-end winding induction motors and it has better fault tolerance. It any of the inverter fails, it can be easily bypassed and the drive will be still functional with reduced speed. Open loop v=f control and rotor flux oriented vector control schemes were used during the experimental verifi cation. TMS320F2812 DSP platform was used to execute the control code for the proposed drive schemes. For the entire range of operation, the carrier was synchronized with the fundamental. For the synchronization, the sampling period is varied dynamically so that the number of samples in a triangular region is fi xed, keeping the switching frequency around 1.2 KHz. The average execution time for the v=f code was found to be 20 S, where as for vector control it took nearly 100 S. The PWM terminals and I/O lines of the DSP is used to output the timings and the triangle number respectively. To convert the triangle number and the timings to IGBT gate drive logic, an FPGA (XC3S200) was used. A constant dead-time of 1.5 S is also implemented inside the FPGA. Opto-isolated gate drivers with desaturation protection (M57962L) were used to drive the IGBTs. Hall-effect sensors were used to measure the phase currents and DC bus voltages. An incremental shaft position encoder with 2500 pulse per revolution is also connected to the motor shaft, to measure the angular velocity. 1200 V, 75 A IGBT half-bridge module is used to realize the switches. The concepts were initially simulated and experimentally verifi ed using laboratory prototypes at low power. While these concepts maybe easily extended to higher power levels by using suitably rated devices, the control techniques presented shall still remain applicable.

The last topology is based on multilevel octadecagonal (18-sided polygon) voltage space-vectors, and it has better harmonic performance than the previously mentioned topologies. Here, a multilevel inverter system capable of producing three octadecagonal voltage space-vectors is proposed for the fi rst time, along with a simple timing calculation method. The conventional three-level inverters are only required to construct the proposed drive. Four asymmetric power supply voltages with 0:3054Vdc, 0:3473Vdc, 0:2266Vdc and 0:1207Vdc are required for the operation of the drive, and it is the main drawback of the circuit. This thesis describes methods of reconstruction of 3D scenes from photographs and videos using the Structure from motion approach. A new software capable of automatic reconstruction of point clouds and polygonal models from common images and videos was implemented based on these methods. The software uses variety of existing and custom solutions and clearly links them into one easily executable application. The reconstruction consists of feature point detection, pairwise matching, Bundle adjustment, stereoscopic algorithms and polygon model creation from point cloud using PCL library. Program is based on Bundler and PMVS. Poisson surface reconstruction algorithm, as well as simple triangulation and own reconstruction method based on plane segmentation were used for polygonal model creation.

Novel Applications of Optical Diffraction Tomography: On-chip Microscopy and Detection of Invisibility Cloaks

[ES] La tomografía por difracción surge para mejorar las técnicas de imagen al considerar la naturaleza ondulatoria de la luz. Mientras que los primeros sistemas de imagen médica se basaban únicamente en fuentes sin difracción, este enfoque consigue mejorar la reconstrucción del índice de refracción de los objetos, lo que permite, por ejemplo, el estudio de estructuras subcelulares. Del mismo modo, la demanda de redes de telecomunicaciones cada vez más rápidas y seguras ha propiciado la aparición de la fotónica. Hace dos décadas, la combinación de estos dos campos dio lugar a los primeros sistemas de tomografía por difracción óptica (ODT), los cuáles han evolucionado rápidamente durante este siglo. En esta tesis, presentamos dos nuevas aplicaciones de la ODT. La primera está relacionada con el concepto del microscopio tomográfico de fase (TPM), una versión de la ODT que permite el estudio de células aisladas, con muchas aplicaciones biomédicas, como el diagnóstico y la prognosis del cáncer. Sin embargo, los sistemas TPM actuales son caros, pesados y complejos. Para resolver estos problemas, proponemos el concepto de TPM en chip. Con este fin, diseñamos una hoja de ruta hacia el primer dispositivo tomográfico integrado en el marco de la tecnología lab-on-a-chip (LoC), y desarrollamos los primeros pasos para ello: 1) Hasta ahora, sólo se han utilizado detectores planos para obtener los mapas de índice de refracción de los objetos estudiados en TPM, basados en la detección del campo difractado hacia delante. Sin embargo, los principios físicos fundamentales indican que medir también el campo difractado hacia detrás debería mejorar la resolución de las imágenes. Además, un detector plano no es la configuración óptima para el TPM en chip. En esta línea, hemos explorado la posibilidad de usar detectores circulares en este escenario, como una técnica más adecuada para las configuraciones en chip, demostrando al mismo tiempo que este enfoque proporciona una mejor resolución que el lineal. 2) Proponemos un esquema de TPM en chip basado en el uso de nanoantenas dieléctricas como fuente de luz y píxeles detectores ODT, y caracterizamos experimentalmente su comportamiento mediante microscopía óptica de campo cercano. En cuanto a la segunda aplicación, estudiamos el potencial de la ODT como nuevo paradigma en la detección de capas de invisibilidad realistas, una de las aplicaciones más importantes de los metamateriales. Hasta ahora, el scattering cross section (SCS) se ha utilizado como modelo de referencia para diseñar y observar la eficacia de estos dispositivos para ocultar objetos. En nuestro estudio, demostramos que la ODT puede detectar las capas de invisibilidad prácticas con una sensibilidad superior a la que ofrece el SCS, incluso a las frecuencias de trabajo óptimas. Además, es posible obtener una imagen representativa del tamaño y la forma de la capa, revelando claramente su existencia. Finalmente, se discuten las conclusiones extraídas de los resultados obtenidos. Además, se detallan las futuras líneas de trabajo para abordar los retos que no se han completado en esta tesis doctoral. / [CA] La tomografia per difracció sorgeix per millorar les tècniques d'imatge anteriors en considerar la naturalesa ondulatòria de la llum. Mentre que els primers sistemes d'imatge mèdica es basaven únicament en fonts sense difracció, aquest enfocament aconsegueix millorar la reconstrucció de l'índex de refracció dels objectes, la qual cosa permet, per exemple, l'estudi d'estructures subcelulars. De la mateixa manera, la demanda de xarxes de telecomunicacions cada vegada més ràpides i segures ha propiciat l'aparició de la fotònica. Whereas the first medical imaging systems relied only on non-diffracting sources, this approach results in an enhanced reconstruction of the object's refractive index distribution, allowing, for example, the study of subcellular structures. Likewise, the demand for increasingly faster and secure telecommunication networks led to the advent of photonics. Two decades ago, the combination of these two fields gave rise to the first optical diffraction tomography (ODT) systems, which have rapidly evolved during this century. In this thesis, we present two novel applications of ODT. The first one is related to the concept of tomographic phase microscopy (TPM), a version of ODT that enables the study of isolated cells, with many applications in biomedicine, such as the diagnosis and prognosis of cancer. Nevertheless, current TPM systems are expensive, heavy, and cumbersome. To solve these issues we propose the concept of on-chip TPM. For this purpose, we design a roadmap towards the first integrated tomographic device in the frame of lab-on-a-chip (LoC) technology and develop the first steps to this end: 1) Until now, only flat detectors have been used to obtain the refractive index maps of the objects studied in TPM, based on the detection of the forward scattering. However, fundamental physical principles indicate that measuring also the backscattered field should improve the resolution of the images. Moreover, a flat detector is not the optimal configuration for on-chip TPM. In this vein, we have explored the possibility of using circular detectors in this scenario as a more suitable technique for on-chip configurations, demonstrating at the same time that this approach provides a better resolution than the linear one. 2) We propose a TPM on-chip scheme based on the use of dielectric nanoantennas as the ODT light source and detector pixels, and experimentally characterize their near-field behavior via scanning near-field optical microscopy. As for the second application, we study the potential of ODT as a new paradigm in the detection of realistic invisibility cloaks, one of the most important applications of metamaterials. Up to now, the scattering cross section (SCS) has been used as the gold standard to design and observe the effectiveness of these devices in hiding objects. In our study, we show that ODT can detect practical invisibility cloaks with a higher sensitivity than that offered by the SCS, even at the optimal working frequencies. Moreover, it is possible to obtain an image depicting the size and shape of the cloak, clearly revealing their existence. Finally, the conclusions drawn from the obtained results are discussed. Převod trojúhelníkových polygonálních 3D sítí na 3D spline plochy / 3D Triangles Polygonal Mesh Conversion on 3D Spline Surfaces

In computer graphics we can handle unstructured triangular 3D meshes which are not too usable for processing through their irregularity. In these situations it occurs need of conversion that 3D mesh to more suitable representation. Some kind of 3D spline surface can be proper alternative because it institutes regularity in the form of control points grid and that's why it is more suitable for next processing. During conversion, which is described in this thesis, quadrilateral 3D mesh is constructed at first. This mesh has regular structure but mainly the structure corresponds to structure of control points grid of resulting 3D spline surface. Created quadrilateral 3D mesh can be saved and consequently used in specific modeling applications for T-spline surface creation.
