Moksleivių požiūrio į integruotą šokį galimybės / Opportunities of Pupils’ Approach to an Integrated Dance

Jucikaitė, Raimonda 27 August 2009 (has links)
In order to discuss any problems of disabled people, we have to acknowledge that the disables people are the members of our society with the same rights as other members of the society and the same opportunities of education, work, spending of leisure time, participation in social, political and communal life shall be created to them. Notwithstanding that the principles of social integration are included into the law on social integration of invalids of the Republic of Lithuania, we still have to do lots of work in order to achieve informal integration of the disabled people into the society. According to the data of “the Research of the Society’s Approach to Disability” (1999), the disabled people are treated as pitiable, being deserving; only 23% of respondents first paid attention to a human being, but not to his/her disability.

Second, waste management systems of Manitoba, Canada, Nova Scotia, Canada, New South Wales, Australia, and Denmark were compared to determine which of the options already in use by other jurisdictions might be useful in Manitoba. Finally, an estimation of the amount of organic waste entering landfills in Manitoba was conducted, along with an estimation of the resulting methane emissions from landfills to determine their greenhouse gas emissions.

A Study Of The Effects On Retention Of Different Time Intervals Between Opportunities To Learn

Clark, Brett January 2014 (has links)
In the early 1990s Graham Nuthall and Adrianne Alton-Lee developed a model of the learning and remembering process which has profound implications for teaching and learning at all levels. Using their model they were able to predict what selected primary school students would and would not learn and remember from the teaching of a series of Science and Social Studies units and to do so with an accuracy of between 80 to 85 per cent. The Nuthall model states that for a student to learn and remember a new fact or concept he or she needs three to four learning opportunities with the complete set of information needed to learn the new fact or concept, and a gap of no more than two days between any pair of those two learning opportunities. It had always been Graham Nuthall's intention to test the model he developed with Adrienne Alton-Lee in a series of experiments. Tragically, Professor Graham Nuthall died before this was possible. The ten experiments in this thesis put the Nuthall model to the test.

Personal visits are better appreciated than sent greetings : A multiple-case study of project business and network risks and opportunities in Africa

Forsberg, Christoffer, Henningson, Lucas January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to gain understanding and analyze how Scandinavian firms’ relationships and networks can help them to create opportunities and reduce risks when conducting project business on African markets. Through this purpose we have created a main research questions that aims to answer: In order to answer the main research question a theoretical framework will be built on project business theories in order to understand project business and the opportunities and risks that are known to the project marketer. The Network Model and Uppsala Internationalization Model will also be applied to gain understanding of how to create opportunities and reduce risks through your networks and relationships. The research approach of this thesis will be an abductive approach and the gathering of primary data will be done through qualitative interviews using a multiple case study of two experienced project business actors. The gathered empirical data will interpreted with the help of the theoretical framework.   The conclusion of this thesis indicates that project business risks and opportunities many times are interrelated to the same actors and that coordination and communication among the project marketer’s relationships and networks are vital to project business success on African markets. Onwards a theoretical gap and our theoretical contribution within the field will be presented, along with suggestions for further research and implications for practicing project business actors.

Miljöpraxis inom hotell : Möjligheter och begränsningar / Environmental practice within hotels : Opportunities and restrictions

Kamil, Hélin, Taylor, Vicky January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to examine how hotels in Sweden work with environmental issues today, and the possible opportunities and restrictions for a continued development of their environmental practices. The authors have examined three hotels and the organization Destination Sigtuna, a network for sustainable tourism, through qualitative methods such as interviews, observations and literature studies. The authors have focused on four categories; zero waste, sustainable materials, local and sustainable food and sustainable water. All the hotels in this paper have one or several environmental certifications, and conduct environmental practices through their own commitment. The practice is conducted to different degrees depending on a range of circumstances. The opportunities and restrictions that the authors see for development of environmental work are commitment, responsibility and the local surroundings among others.

A critical review of the consideration of climate change risks and opportunities in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) / Avhatakali Maxwell Denga

Denga, Avhatakali Maxwell January 2014 (has links)
It is widely acknowledged that the impacts of climate change are likely to be far worse than some people believe possible. Research has shown that our current approach and intervention to combat climate change is hopelessly inadequate. Climate change is a global environmental phenomenon which is not adequately addressed by integrated environmental management and more particularly by environmental impact assessment (EIA). In order to effectively address this challenge, adaptation and mitigation actions at individual, local, national, and international levels are critical. It is argued that EIA is one of the most valuable tools to integrate climate change issues into pre- and post-development decision-making processes. The aim of this research was to critically review the consideration of climate change risks and opportunities in EIAs for housing development in two of Gauteng’s metropolitan areas. The results reveal that climate change risks and opportunities are not considered during EIA. It is evident that there are a number of challenges, and the sternest one is the serious lack of a regulatory framework to mandate a compulsory consideration of climate change issues in the process of EIA. On the other hand, there is a lack of awareness and drive by key stakeholders to ensure that the EIA process identifies, considers, and evaluate the risks and opportunities related to climate change. / M.
