This study was conducted with eighteen teachers from Primary/Secondary Education public and private regular schools in the state of Sao Paulo. The theoretical-methodological basis for this research was the complexity theory according to Morin (2007, 2008), Moraes (2008), Mariotti (2007), Behrens, (2006) and others, which established a dialogue with the methodological approach chosen, the Hermeneutic-phenomenological, and the studies related to (a) the special needs concept and inclusion in education according to Mitler (2003), Glat (2004), Gonzáles (2007) and others; and (b) the concept of learning disabilities according to Garcia (1998), Weiss and Cruz (2007) and others. The collection of textual registers occurred along almost two years. The instruments used were: reports and a questionnaire. This research was carried out based on the Hermeneutic Phenomenological Approach according to van Manen (1990) and Freire (2007, 2010) to interpret the phenomenon in question. My interpretation of the textual registers revealed that the phenomenon the living experience of English teachers in inclusive context may be seen as consisting of three themes: Challenges, Emotions and Support / O objetivo desta pesquisa é descrever e interpretar o fenômeno a vivência de professores de língua inglesa em contexto inclusivo, considerando para isso a perspectiva de quem o vivenciou: o professor de língua inglesa que atua em contexto inclusivo.

From those stories, it verifies how the TDICs contribute to a learning process that promotes critical and scientific reflections, based on the empowerment of the students (FREIRE, P., 2006) in their relationship with knowledge. The research subjects are teachers of the basic education from some public and private schools. For the teachers selection, it was identified those who have used technology in different contexts and approaches, not being the aim of this research the use of technology as a purpose itself, but its application as a support or tool for the development of students' learning in School. Through the (auto)biographical narrative research and the hermeneutic phenomenological approach brought by (FREIRE, 2012),it was possible to identify, from the stories of six teachers, to what extent the use of technology in classroom contributes and promotes a greater involvement and empowerment of the students, as well as how these teachers had contact with technology so it could be incorporated and seen as a possibility of developing their teaching work with the students / O presente trabalho buscou relatar práticas destacadas de professores de educação básica que utilizam as TDIC (Tecnologias Digitais de Informação e Comunicação) na escola para fomentar novas possibilidades de construção de conhecimento na relação didático-pedagógica com os alunos Kenski (1998), Livingstone (2011/2012), Prensky (2001).

Perceptions of African families about traumatic brain injury : implications for rehabilitation

Mokhosi, Mota Thomas. 11 1900 (has links)
The study aimed at giving a thick description of African families' experiences, views, cultural beliefs and interpretations of traumatic brain injury (TBI), and making recommendations for rehabilitation. It was conducted from the qualitative research paradigm, adopting a phenomenological research method. Twenty-two pairs of participants (patients and their caregivers )were interviewed about their perception of TBI. The semi-structured interviews were conducted at the participants' homes in Sesotho, and where necessary in their home languages. The consequences of TBI were found to follow universal trends (Oddy, 1984). However, participants' perceptions, as shaped by their experiences, views and cultural beliefs, were found to be unique. On analysing the gathered data, using inductive data analysis, it was found that African families' interpretations of TBI were based on beliefs about witchcraft, thwasa, Satanism, ancestral anger and God's wish. Based on these findings, rehabilitation services in the form of education, advocacy, networking and family therapy are recommended. / Psychology / M.A.(Clinical Psychology)

To be at one's best : The evolution of Optimal Functionality and its possible implementation in an ICT-platform

Algilani, Samal January 2016 (has links)
At the Nutrition and Physical Activity Research Centre for Optimal Health and Functionality through Life (NUPARC), a research gap was uncovered regarding the concept optimal functionality based on the older adult’s own perspective. The overall aim was to explore the concept of optimal functionality among older adults and the possibility of creating and developing an ICT-platform to measure it. Method: An existing cohort from NUPARC was used for recruitment in studies I-III and to some extent study IV. A scoping study design and framework was adopted for the inclusion of the articles in Study I. Study II had a descriptive design. Six focus group discussions were conducted and analysed using qualitative deductive content analysis to extend the qualitative understanding. Study III used a phenomenological approach describing the experience of mental health and its impact on the ability to function as optimally as possible. Six interviews were analysed using Giorgi’s phenomenological approach. Study IV was a feasibility study and included 8 older adults using an ICTplatform for a period of four weeks. Results: Optimal Functionality comprises three major corner stones: Body-related factors, Self-related factors and External factors (I) accompanied by nine aspects, and according to older adults it is a matter of functioning as optimally as possible (II). The three major cornerstones are intricately linked and all but the mental aspects were included in the discussions (II). Life situations affecting mental health, consequences of mental health and strategies for maintaining good mental health were described by older adults as having an impact on mental health and affecting their ability to function as optimally as possible (III). The older adults managed the usage of an ICT-tool well and it was perceived as meaningful (IV). Conclusion: Optimal functionality is holistic, subjective, dynamic and applicable to all older adults. Identification of the factors involved can help the older adults on their path to health. An ICT-platform can facilitate the identification of the factors for optimal functionality and the eventual measurement of it.

How religious education teachers understand and implement a multi-faith curriculum : case studies from Botswana

Dinama, Baamphatlha 24 April 2010 (has links)
This study explores teachers’ understanding and implementation of the multi-faith Religious Education curriculum in Botswana junior secondary schools. The multi-faith curriculum resulted from an educational policy change in 1996 that saw a move from a Christian-based RE to a multi-faith Religious Education (RE) curriculum. This study is based on qualitative case studies and draws data from classroom observations, interviews with four RE teachers, five RE education officers, eight RE in-service teachers and three groups of RE students. The main participants are two groups of teachers, those who taught the multi-faith curriculum and those who taught both the Christian based RE and the multi-faith Religious Education. In this study, documents such as the syllabus document, end of month tests, end of term examinations and end of three year junior secondary school national examinations papers were used to further highlight the classroom practices of RE teachers. Furthermore, the study adopts the teachers’ professional knowledge landscape as the theoretical framework, a view that is espoused by Clandinin and Connelly (1995), that stresses the importance of teachers’ knowledge. The following themes emerge in the study; teachers’ understanding of the multi-faith RE, teachers’ classroom practices in terms of their content and pedagogical knowledge, their classroom management, and especially discipline. The study reveals that there are no marked differences between these two groups of teachers in terms of their understanding of the curriculum and their classroom practices. It further reveals that there are various factors that impact on the practices of teachers such as their view of the multi-faith philosophy, assessment skills, use of students’ textbooks, mentoring and tracking of RE graduates from teacher training institutions. The study suggests that teachers need to have an adequate understanding of students’ environment, in terms of their personal experiences and social background. The study recommends that teachers in general and RE teachers in particular need to be involved on an occasion of any curriculum change because they are the main implementers. In addition, teachers need extended periods of professional in-service training on occasions of curriculum reforms. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2010. / Education Management and Policy Studies / unrestricted

Mål och vision i en föränderlig miljö : Ledningsgruppens perspektiv / Goal and vision in a changing environment : The management perspective

Baumgarten, Joanna, Sundvall, Thomas January 2017 (has links)
The thesis was carried out in collaboration with a care company in Greater Stockholm, spring 2017. La música “chicha” como recurso publicitario para despertar emociones en el consumidor / Chicha music as an advertising resource to arouse emotions in the consumer

Duran Palomino, Ana Kelly 05 January 2022 (has links)
This study aims to analyze the emotions aroused by tropical Andean music – popularly known as chicha – present in the advertising of a well-known beverage brand in university students. The power music exerts in advertising is already commonly known as well as how it can intensify the effect of the message and trigger an emotional reaction in the consumer. This Peruvian musical genre is usually closely related to Peruvian identity and attributes of its population such as racial and cultural intermixing, creativity and self-improvement. In recent years, this sound resource has been established in the commercial communication of Peruvian brands aimed at the modern neo-Limenian; many of them descend-ants of migrants, proud of their origin and culture. This study is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Through 16 interviews, the study shows how the presence of this musical genre can arouse positive emotions in the sample. In addition, the choice of music has to be coherent with the narrative structure of the advertising message to ensure optimal emotions. / Tesis

No. of bitstreams: 1 Cristiane Freire de Sa.pdf: 4240233 bytes, checksum: 06ef1e221cf0f7acabf1372c05cd5b06 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-07-27 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research aims to describe and interpret a phenomenon of human experience: tutoring action developed by virtual tutors teachers in virtual learning environments in he context of the educational network called Rede E-Tec Brazil; so trying to understand, under the bias of the complexity presented by Morin, the manifestations of this phenomenon from the subjects who experience it, in the case, virtual tutors. Mentoring is a word in the context of distance education which has named the educational activity that teachers spend developing in virtual environments and has been the subject of studies and discussions in Brazil, from different perspectives, especially as a variation of the traditional teaching activities . However, most studies focus on this theme in the context of higher education, labor relations or responsibilities and regulations involving this form of mediating student learning in virtual environments. In order to contribute from the specifics of Professional Technical Education and the perspective of those who perform the tutoring action in this mode, this research aims to discuss the fragmentation of pedagogical action and hence the division of teaching involving the transformation of autonomy and profession. Developed within the framework of contemporary Applied Linguistics, aimed to investigate experiences and social practices revealed through language, this study takes as its starting point the reports, interpretations and reflections of those who live virtual mentoring, a teaching modality that has cultures and particular identities. From the reality experienced by the subject virtual tutor, we seek to articulate an interpretation of experiences in virtual learning environments, materialized by language, with studies on virtual teaching and studies about virtual mentoring, linking them with the theoretical vision of teaching. Drawing up as a qualitative-interpretative research, this work is methodologically oriented by Hermeneutic-phenomenological approach and complexity that allows the description and interpretation of human experience considering also the theoretical contributions of hermeneutics and phenomenology in the light of complexity by Morin. This methodological approach has allowed to develop research in the field of Applied Linguistics, considering language as revealing interface that embodies the experiences that are textualized under the hermeneutic phenomenological bias. The collection of textualized reports from the five tutors, the essence of mentoring phenomenon action in virtual environments, object of the present study, is revealed from the hermeneutic-phenomenological themes: challenges; difficulties, questions; concerns and relationships that present themselves as relevant to think about the teachers of distance education, especially within the technical vocational education / A presente pesquisa objetiva descrever e interpretar um fenômeno da experiência humana: a ação de tutoria desenvolvida pelos professores-tutores virtuais em ambientes virtuais de aprendizagem no contexto da Rede e-Tec Brasil; dessa forma, buscando compreender, sob o viés da complexidade apresentada por Morin, as manifestações desse fenômeno a partir dos sujeitos que o vivenciam, no caso, os tutores virtuais.

No. of bitstreams: 1 ERIKA TEIXEIRA BREGEIRO.pdf: 2506885 bytes, checksum: f133b19b0a59feb2558f7192fd653199 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-01-28 / This research aims at: (1) identifying the needs, wants and preferences of EJA students, as far as learning English is concerned; and (2) describing and interpreting the phenomenon of learning English from the perspective of 1st term of EJA. The theoretical foundation of the current study is based on Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais Língua Estrangeira (Brasil, 2002b), Proposta Curricular para a Educação de Jovens e Adultos (Brasil, 2002a), Diretrizes Curriculares para a Educação de Jovens e Adultos (Brasil, 2000b) among other official documents which rule such an educational segment. In addition, this study is also grounded on criteria for needs analysis, considering the perceptions suggested by Hutchinson and Waters (1987), Berwick (1989) and Dudley- Evans and St John (1998). The hermeneutic-phenomenological approach (Ricoeur, 1986/2002; van Manen, 1990; Freire, 2006, 2007) was the orientation adopted for describing and interpreting the learning of English from the perspective of 1st term EJA students as a human experience phenomenon. The research context was a public school in which, through three questionnaires, the opinions of 52 first-tem students were captured and interpreted. The results of this study indicate that the focused students need English for work-related purposes, for using computers or operating machines. In daily life, they also need this foreign language to understand ads, purchase products or use computers. As for expectations, they want to use English for traveling; understanding songs, movies; communicating; and finding better job opportunities. The results also reveal that: (1) they prefer learning English by learning vocabulary; (2) they would like to have listening-comprehension activities; and (3) they would not like to perform tasks related to writing. Furthermore, the results reveal that learning English from the perspective of EJA students, as a phenomenon of human experience, is structured in seven themes: knowledge, opportunity, difficulty, performance, lack, utility, motivation, and teacher. The results of this study may provide reference for teachers and researchers to comprehend, adapt, adjust and select materials for a variety of classroom situations / Esta pesquisa tem por objetivos: (1) identificar as necessidades, expectativas e preferências de aprendizagem da língua inglesa, na visão de alunos da EJA, e (2) descrever e interpretar o fenômeno aprender o inglês sob a perspectiva de alunos do 1º termo Médio da EJA.
