Vem är idrottslärarstudenten vid GIH? : en studie som jämför år 2008 med år 2011

Andersson, Frida, Vångell, Fredrika January 2011 (has links)
Aim: The aim of this study was from a sociological approach examine differences and similarities between the students who started the Physical Education Teacher Program at the Swedish School of Sports and Health Sciences (GIH) in 2008 and 2011. What background has the GIH-student? What sport experience has the GIH-student? What are the student’s perceived knowledge and skills in Physical Education? What attitude towards the subject Physical Education and the Physical Education Teacher Program does the GIH-student have?   Method: The method used for this study was a quantitative method and the research was carried out through a questionnaire. The questionnaire was answered by 100 students who were accepted in 2011 at the Physical Education Teacher Program (GIH). In 2008, data was collected through the same questionnaire answered by 77 students who started their education in 2008. The results from the questionnaire conducted in 2008 were compared with the results conducted in this study. Moreover, the responses were processed in SPSS 19.0 and then analyzed by Bourdieu's three concepts habitus, capital and field. Results: The results of the study showed that those students who began the Physical Education Teacher Program at GIH in 2008 and in 2011 were individuals with great interest in sport. There were more students in 2011 who grew up in Stockholm and there were also more students with a foreign background. It was also noted that it has been significantly easier to become accepted to the Physical Education Teacher Program at GIH in 2011 than in 2008. A lower amount of students had experience of competition and leadership in sport in 2011. We could also see that the spread of knowledge and skills related to Physical Education was greater among the students accepted in 2011 than in 2008. Why the students applied to GIH were because it is situated in Stockholm and because of the good reputation the school has. However we could see that this good reputation is not that strong reason for the students in 2011. The majority of the students in both 2008 and 2011 considered that their pupils’ knowledge and skills should be assessed.   Conclusions: A firm conclusion could not be drawn regarding how the increased number of students who gets accepted to the Physical Education Teacher Program at GIH affects the type of students who apply to the program. The tendency found was that in 2008 the student groups were more homogeneous. In both groups there was deficient knowledge in central parts in Physical Education. Therefore it will be higher requirements on the education to make sure that the knowledge reaches an acceptable ground level in the end of the education.

Idrottslärarens motivationsarbete i grundskolans ämne idrott och hälsa : En kvalitativ studie om hur idrottsläraren arbetar för att motivera sina elever i idrott och hälsa i mellanstadiet och i högstadiet / Sports teachers motivational work in the primary topic of sports and health

Cannerstad, Cannerstad January 2015 (has links)
Motivation. Skola. / Background: The difference between the physically active and the physically inactive young people is increasing today. Cardiovascular disease is one of the dominant endemic diseases that can be caused by physical inactivity. The school is an arena in which children develop and get an opportunity to move on during school hours. As future physical education teachers, it is then important to be able to motivate students in the subject of continued physical activity. Purpose: The primary objective of the study is to examine how physical education teachers can work to motivate their students in sports and health. Therefore it was chosen to study how a limited selection of the teachers in Karlstad municipality works to motivate their students in physical education and health. Method: I have used a qualitative approach in the form of interviews, which has also been used in the investigation. Six education teachers, three working at a high school and three physical education teachers in the municipality of Karlstad have participated in the investigation. The interviews were compiled and became the result of my study. The respondents are confidential and are protected by moral rights. Result: The results show that many of the respondents feel that the motivation is good at the schools and it has to do with the fact that many are physically active during their leisure time. The results also show that the variation in teaching, and that it is important to see the students on a more personal level and offer activities where each student's needs are met while students gain influence in PE classes. This leads in turn to the three psychological needs of competence, autonomy and affinity are met and internal motivation is strengthened in the subject. The study has also been linked to previous studies and Self Determination Theory is the study's theoretical base.   Keywords: Physical education teacher. Physical education and health. Motivation. O imaginário social na (des) valorização do professor de Educação Física / The social imagery of appreciation of Physical Education teacher

Edwiges Camilo de Oliveira Figueiredo 25 June 2012 (has links)

This research was developed for the Post-Graduation Program in Education of UFPE – Teacher Formation and Pedagogical Practice area, has as object the constitution of the professional identity of Physical Education teachers. We sought to comprehend, from a sociological perspective, the elements that contribute with the professional identity constitution processes of Physical Education teachers and how their professional identity is expressed on multiple professional life cycles. For this goal we proposed the following questions: which elements contribute to the building of the professional identity of Physical Education teachers? Which trajectories compose the identity-building process of these teachers? In which way professional identity is expressed in the practice of Physical Education teachers? How was the professional identity of those teachers with experience in the area prior to their academic formation built up? The theoretical references that guide this research were: Dubar (2005), Nóvoa (1995, 1999, 2007), Guimarães (2004), Veiga (2008), Fontana (2000), Hall (2012), Estrela (1997), Carrolo (1997) to contribute with considerations about the identity and professional identity themes; Bracht (1992, 2007) and Bracht & Crisório (2003) to support considerations about the identity of Physical Education and teachers’ professional identity; Huberman (2007), as an important reference to the studying of the problematics of professional life cycles. This is a qualitative study, which has in its biographical approach the methodological support for the investigation, based on authors such as Dominicé (2006), Ferrarotti (1991), Bueno (2002), Delory-Momberger (2012, 2014), Moita (2007), Batista Neto (2007b). For the collection procedure we conducted biographical interviews with 06 Elementary School Physical Education teachers from public schools of Ouricuri, Pernambuco were made. The interviews were conducted during the months of September and December, 2014. The analysis of the data was based on the content analysis, as proposed by Bardin (2011). In regard to the content analysis techniques, we chose the thematic analysis. Based on the analyses, it was possible to determine how fundamental the following aspects were to constitution of the Physical Education teacher’s professional identity: the elementary school and their experiences with Physical Education, especially school experiences or experiences as athletes; the initial and the continuous professional formation process; the professional work and the particularities of the action context; as well as socializations established with others in different contexts of the lives of the teachers. Given the results, we conclude that the teacher’s professional identity is in constant building process – it is not something finished, complete. Family relationships, formation processes from the elementary to high education levels and professional experience, abundant in constant exchanges and institutional dynamics, in its biographical and relational, objective and subjective elements, that made possible the constitution of the Physical Education teacher’s professional identity.

Mediação de sentidos : aulas compartilhadas no Brasil e em Portugal junto a estudantes de Educação Fisica / Mediation of senses : classes shared in Brazil and Portugal with Physical Eduacation students

Abstract: The mediation of senses in the training of Physical Education teachers is the theme of this study. For its development, I started out from a sociocultural frame of reference, as well as the recognition that human beings are sense-producing subjects who are active and expressive, and that the building of knowledge is eminently dialogical. Based on such a frame of reference I prepared classes which were shared in Brazil and Portugal with Physical Education students. I took into consideration the following principles for conducting these pedagogical experiences: the class is an inter-subjective situation; the themes in discussion can be re-signified; and the new senses are produced by the meeting and confrontation of knowledge between teachers and students. When writing about how the classes in Brazil and Portugal occurred, I chose the narrative form, i.e., texts elaborated from notes in the class agenda, and in 'dense description'. In such texts, I explain how the symbolic exchanges with the students took place, and how the themes we worked with were re-signified. The proposed mediation of senses resulted in an artisanal elaboration of knowledge as a form of resistance against the present-time predominating values, such as competition, rivalry, individualism - values that are synthesised in the phenomenon of 'bodily practices. / Doutorado / Educação Fisica e Sociedade / Doutor em Educação Física

Looking Inward: Does physical Activity Promotion Training Transfer Beyond PETE?

January 2020 (has links)
abstract: Whole school physical activity (PA) programming provides additional PA opportunities at school beyond Physical Education. Physical Educators often absorb the additional responsibilities of leading such programs, resulting in some Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) programs adopting expanded PA programming and integrating related topics into their curriculum. The Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program (CSPAP) is of interest to the present study as it focuses on Quality Physical Education and is the model utilized at the institution of interest. Arizona State University’s PETE program began integrating CSPAP concepts in 2009 and serves as the focal program for this study. The purpose of this study, which was informed by The Diffusion of Innovations and the Teacher Socialization Theories, was to determine the degree to which graduates integrate PA programming into their own K-12 schools. In a two-phase (electronic survey followed by campus visit and interview with sub-sample), mixed methods’ approach, 101 graduates (between the years of 2000-2019) of Arizona State University’s PETE program provided details of their current practices related to expanded PA. Results: Quantitative findings included weak but positive relationships between year of graduation and knowledge of CSPAP and having positive perceptions of expanded PA as an innovation. Bachelors’ graduates reported higher PA integration than Masters’ graduates. Visual inspection of data shows a slight increase in perceptions of expanded PA as an innovation and a slight decrease in PA programming integration across years of graduation. Interviews provided evidence that more recent graduates may still be figuring out their roles, delaying their PA program. Increased perceptions scores suggest the PETE program at ASU has been successful in providing students positive interactions with expanded PA programming. Graduates indicated they felt well prepared with strategies and resources for promoting and maintaining such programs, but they noted a need for more exposure to tools for initiating a new program. Findings can inform changes in the ASU PETE program and may be applicable in other settings. Establishing ongoing contact with graduates to provide marketing and support tools graduates can access may be beneficial as teachers often realize the need for these materials well beyond graduation. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Learning, Literacies and Technologies 2020

The Impact of Supply and Demand on Doctorates in Physical Education Teacher Education: The Future of the Profession

Boyce, Barbara Ann, Lund, Jackie, O’Neil, Kason M. 02 July 2016 (has links)
Quality preparation of doctoral students is a key to the survival of physical education teacher education. Past research has revealed a shortage of students graduating with a doctoral degree in physical education and a general reluctance of teachers to leave their jobs to pursue an advanced degree. As the number of universities preparing new physical education teacher education assistant professors decreases, those in the profession are concerned for the future of teacher education. Unlike other professions that prepare more doctoral students than the market can accommodate, this is not the case for physical education teacher education doctoral programs. This article will provide summary information on supply and demand, which will be used to identify trends and recommendations for the future. This article will explore the status of doctoral programs in the United States and whether university programs will be able to prepare a sufficient number of professors to replace the aging physical education teacher education professoriate.

Lynard, Sara, Strand, Emelie January 2021 (has links)
Physical education in Swedish primary schools is a subject that places demand on physical activity and movement. The student receives grades based on their performance in these physical activities. In this study, eight physical education teachers were interviewed to investigate how they experience the inclusion work so that all students, regardless of any physical disabilities or not, can participate in the sports lesson and what applications they would like to be able to implement this inclusion. It appears that physical education teachers experience challenges in designing an inclusive physical education so that all students can participate. The results of the study show a need for access to knowledge that can be of a significant nature for how physical education teachers work to include all students. It also shows that physical education teachers today work on the basis of a lesson design based on activity where everyone is expected to be able to participate based on certain physical preferences and that they are constantly faced with challenges in how to go about not having to expose individual students to become excluded. The conclusion shows that physical education today does not offer inclusion for all students and in cases where physical education teachers try to adapt the lesson, this can result in individual students still being excluded.

Lärares tankar om hälsa : Vad lär idrottslärare ut om hälsa i skolan?

Hemberg, Johan January 2014 (has links)
Samtalen spelades in och transkriberades elektroniskt. / Abstract Purpose and Research Questions The purpose of this study is to investigate how teachers view health and how their views influence the subject area of Physical and Health Education in schools.  The main research questions that I asked in support of this purpose are: How do teachers view health? What do teachers teach in the subject area? How do teachers inspire and create meaning in the subject area? How can teachers develop the instruction of health in the subject area of Physical and Health Education? Method The method of analysis was qualitative and the chosen tool of investigation was interview with open questions. Questions, in addition to the main research questions, were designed to facilitate discussion during the interview.  Experienced teachers educated in at least Physical Education were targeted for interview. The interviews took place either at the place of work or by telephone and interview questions were made available beforehand. The interviews were digitally recorded and electronically transcribed.  The answers from each teacher to the same question were compiled and compared. The answers were then analysed in relation to the Salutogena Model. Results Six teachers who were approached, from Stockholm and Southeast Sweden volunteered to participate. The teachers were in general agreement that they viewed health as having both a physical and psychological component and that both need to be addressed to have sustainable health.  Upon comparison of the older curriculum (Lpo-94) with the most recent (Lgr-11), the teachers believed that they now have clearer guidelines on what to teach in health education and also that there are higher expectations both on the student and teacher now compared to before.  The teachers were quick to point out development opportunities within their field. Not least, they recommend that lecture hours need restructuring in order to facilitate meaningful outdoor education. The teachers generally believe that they create a meaningful environment for students by individually highlighting for each student their particular strengths and how they can apply those to foster a lifelong interest for an active lifestyle. Conclusion During my years in this Education degree, I have investigated the definition of health and how it can be used by students, and in the present study, teachers. In agreement with the Salutogena Model and other research in the area, I have learned from the present study that it is vital that I utilize the experience of other teachers, in addition to continuously developing myself in order for my lessons to be as understandable, useable and meaningful as possible for students. / <p>Studiegång Idrott, fritidskultur och hälsa skolår F-6.
