"Something happened, it´s not like I didn´t wanted to go" : a study about pupils’ truancy, from a contextual and young people of today perspective.

Johansson, Sara, Wiktorsson, Linda January 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine the extent to which high school students´ truancy is a manifestation of shortcomings in school activities. Based on our aim, we have arrived at two questions: How does the school, being an institution, affect the occurrence of truancy? How can changes in the way of working in schools, reduce the occurrence of truancy? The study is based on contextual, and youth culture perspectives. The report is based on five focus group interviews with students from grade two and three in Swedish upper secondary school, and six individual semi-structured interviews with the school management, student health group and teachers. The material has been processed by carefully listening to audio recordings, focusing on finding similarities and differences in the empirical material. The results have been reported by weaving answers together from the interviews with relevant concepts and theories, as well as with our own reflections and discussions. A condensed version of what the informants have expressed during the interviews is retold in themes. To complement these retells, specific quotations from the informants which are considered especially interesting have been included. The results show a clear contradiction between staff and pupils, where views and experiences surrounding the phenomenon of truancy vary greatly. The material as a whole shows that the relationship between students and teachers at this school, in the current situation, is strained. The results we consider most prominent in our study is the fact that the school's existing structure and social environment has a direct impact on the occurrence of truancy. According to us, the school needs to change; the students´ unique needs and well-being should stand in focus.

Les parcours scolaires des enfants issus de l'immigration maghrébine en France : le cas des quartiers défavorisés de l'Ile de France / The schooling in France of children coming from North Africa : the case of underprivileged area of Région Ile de France

Yacoubi, Abdelilah 25 September 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to give an intelligible account about the schooling characteristics of children living in France and coming from North Africa. We carried out a qualitative and micro-sociological study in underprivileged area of Région Ile de France. We devoted our interest on the apprehension and the disantanglement of the elements and factors making these schoolings possible. In order to achieve this, we opted for a biographical method that permits us to prove that the qualifications and the schoolings of the young people we have met result from a global interactive and constructive process of which several elements, phenomena and interdependent events interfere and influence one another. Thus, our investigations show how essential each school experience is in its uniqueness and its individuality. On the other hand, the formation and transformation of a schooling go beyond this singularity, the general living conditions and schooling of the children born to North African immigrants, but are the result of the continious interaction of all these elements. In addition, the types of families and their histories remain a substantial component of these elements. Finally, we identified among those surveyed and their families a strong will to succeed at school, this being the only way to go up the social ladder.

Perceptions of pupil nurses at their second year level towards clinical support at a private hospital in the Limpopo Province, South Africa

Poto, Magdeline 07 1900 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to explore and describe the perceptions of the pupil nurses at their second year level towards clinical support at the private hospital in the Limpopo Province. Qualitative approach including exploratory, descriptive and contextual study design was followed. The target population for this study included pupil nurses at their second year level (n=20) following a two year programme leading to enrolment as a nurse from a private nursing education institution in the Limpopo Province. Data was collected utilizing written narratives, and focus group interviews. Field notes and audio tape were used to capture data. Data saturation was reached on twelve participants. Data were thematically analysed using Tesch’s method of open coding. The results revealed lack of clinical support. Lack of clinical support was attributed to inadequate educators for accompaniment, registered nurses’ uncaring attitude and not fulfilling their mentorship role, and pressure on pupil nurses to meet the high clinical demands. Pupil nurses were found not to be assuming full responsibilities over their practical learning. Therefore, it is mandatory as nurse educators, managers and researchers to take note of the gaps identified and intervene utilising recommendations provided to enhance clinical support. / Health Studies / M.A. (Nursing Science)

Propedeutika kartézské souřadnicové soustavy a rozvoj funkčního myšlení žáků 1. stupně ZŠ / Propedeutics of cartesian coordinate system and the development of functional thinking of primary school pupils

Ročák, Štěpán January 2018 (has links)
This thesis didactically maps and describes new didactical mathematic environment and the possibilities of its application in teaching in the first grade of primary education. In this thesis I describe the process of an experiment conducted with pupils of the 1st - 5th year of elementary school, with whom I have tried and verified a series of new environment exercises. Based on the reflection of this experiment, and the analysis of pupils' solutions, I formulated a final version of these exercises. I led the process of the whole experiment in line with the constructivist educational style. In the theory part, I am mentioning the important terms of mathematics and its didactics, that are necessary for the purposes of this thesis, and that I refer to the relevant professional literature. This thesis also contains the analysis of chosen textbook collections that are related to its topic. The last part of this thesis is the final and complete series of exercises useful for teaching mathematics in the 1st grade of elementary school, especially if the teacher aims to purposefully develop the pupils' understanding of the terminology and relations from the mathematical areas of analytic geometry, functions and sequences.

La relation éducative au cours du XVIIIème siècle / The educational relation during the XVIIIe century

Guitard-Morel, Josiane 25 October 2013 (has links)
18th century writing on education seems to give an important place to the relationship between master and pupil. This is first seen in the way the Ancien Regime school is discussed in 1726 in Charles Rollin’s Traité des études, also in the educational anthropology in Rousseau’s Émile ou de l’Éducation (1762) and the royal institution in Condillac’s Cours d’étude (1776) ; and finally in the upbringing, home education Alman’s children receive in Stéphanie de Genlis’ Adèle et Théodore (1782). Indeed, the relationship between master and pupil raises several questions at this time of intellectual ferment, when minds were filled with ideas of man’s perfectibility. Our corpus brings together various educational modalities, shifting between home education and public education, and between an idealized vision and the representation of a social reality with people taking a new interest in childhood and the family. So we have striven to grasp the quality and the nature of the bond between master and pupil, and to see how knowledge is gained and transmitted in this relationship. First, we attempt to examine how educational thinking develops in the 18th century. It is often scholars who do not belong to the world of education who are involved in this thinking, which is based on generally controversial aspirations and values, some of which are new, and some of which stem from an old Christian heritage. The next aspect tackled is the way Charles Rollin sees the educational relationship in the school educational contract. The approach to education discussed in Traité des études puts forward the idea that a master gains recognition and grandeur in respecting his pupil’s authentic character. In this instance, a spiritual bond is apparent, which is nurtured by affection and power and is thus close to the concept of filiation. Then we study the educational relationship in the light of the variable forms of tutorship. Rousseau intends to lead Emile to manhood in a Promethean daydream in which the human being and the recognition of otherness are dominant. On the other hand, Condillac rejects any idea of educational immediacy for Ferdinand de Parme. For him, if a prince is to be well-educated in accordance with the educational ideal of the Enlightenment, there should be no human dimension in the encounter between master and pupil. Finally, Genlis, who is so passionate about education, brings out the ambivalence present when the educational relationship is confined within the family unit. Here, nothing happens by chance, and the passion to educate prevents the pupil from growing and becoming an individual in his own right. In the 18th century, the different forms of educational relationship found in the writings of Rollin, Rousseau, Condillac and Genlis lead to a new idea emerging : a special bond is necessary between master and pupil for an educational situation to bear fruit.

Výchovné poradenství / Educational consultancy

KŐLBLOVÁ, Lenka January 2015 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to present the roles of the pedagogical consultant at primary school. The theoretical part is focused on specification of the consultant´s duties and powers according to the specialized literature. Furthermore, it concerns the specification of requirements, which the teacher should meet in order to be a pedagogical consultant. Next topic is the cooperation with the legal representatives of pupils and with organizations dealing with consulting. The practical part follows up six pedagogical consultants at primary schools in České Budějovice and Vysočina. The research consists of the dialogues with them and it studies their job duties, the most common topics and difficulties they are faced to.
