Propaganda i debatten om kvinnorätt i Kina : En undersökning av rapporteringen kring könsdiskriminering i Folkets Dagblad

Studien har haft som huvudsakligt syfte att undersöka den kinesiska tidningen Folkets Dagblad och dess rapportering kring könsdiskriminering under åren 2000 till 6:e december 2023, då undersökningen avslutades. Undersökningen bygger på att observera hur tidningen rapporterar kring problemet och att analysera detta i förhållande till forskning i frågan. Materialet i resultatet berör teman kring diskriminering på den kinesiska arbetsmarknaden, utbildning, nationella reformer i Kina mot könsdiskriminering och även en generell rapportering kring jämställdhetsarbete i världen. Slutsatsen efter analys av materialet är att tidningen gör mycket noggranna avvägningar kring vad som tas upp i tidningen och inte. I förhållande till den forskning som ingår i studien finns det särskilda studier av stor vikt som Folkets Dagblad tydligt väljer att ignorera, vilket belyser vilka kontroverser som finns i Kina idag. Bland annat sexuella trakasserier och en bristande lagstiftning i praktiken, är inget som tidningen vill lyfta. Man kan dock observera stor del av materialet som innehåller ideologi, optimism och politisk propaganda, i diskussionen kring könsdiskriminering idag.

Numerical study for the performance of a methanol micro-channel reformer with Pd/ZnO catalyst.

Methanol micro-channel reformer is an important device for generating hydrogen to supply micro fuel-cell needs. In the fuel reforming process, the catalyst is adopted to reduce the activation energy and speed up the reforming reaction. Hydrogen and other chemical substance are produced in the reformer catalytic reaction. The micro-channel structure provides more opportunity for molecules of methanol and steam mixture to collide with catalyst for high reforming reaction to take place. The reforming process of methanol in a micro-channel reformer with Pd/ZnO catalyst is studied numerically in this thesis. The effects of various channel length, channel height, inlet velocity, inlet temperature, and catalyst usage (ratio of wall area covered by catalyst) on the performance of reformer (methanol conversion percentage) are investigated numerically. The results show that the methanol conversion increases with increased channel length until a channel length of about 3000£gm, the conversion approaches 100%. The conversion percentage decreases with increased inlet velocity, however, the production rate of hydrogen depends on flow rate and conversion percentage. Increasing the channel height results in decreased methonal conversion due to less collision opportunity with the catalyst. The methanol conversion percentage increases with the increase of the inlet temperature. However, the production rate of the hydrogen starts to descend when the inlet temperature is higher than about 523 K owing to more methonal preburned in raising the inlet temperature. Methanol conversion increases with the catalyst usage. However, it is worth noting that the increase is only about 15% for catalyst usage from 50% to 100%. The results in this study provide design data for the fuel cell system designer.

Hydrogen Generation for Fuel Cells in Auxiliary Power Systems

Heavy-duty trucks are in idle operation during long periods of time, providing the vehicles with electricity via the alternator at standstill. Idling trucks contribute to large amounts of emissions and high fuel consumption as a result of the low efficiency from fuel to electricity. Auxiliary power units, which operate independently of the main engine, are promising alternatives for supplying trucks with electricity. Fuel cell-based auxiliary power units could offer high efficiencies and low noise. The hydrogen required for the fuel cell could be generated in an onboard fuel reformer using the existing truck fuel. The work presented in this thesis concerns hydrogen generation from transportation fuels by autothermal reforming focusing on the application of fuel cell auxiliary power units. Diesel and dimethyl ether have been the fuels of main focus. The work includes reactor design aspects, preparation and testing of reforming catalysts including characterization studies and evaluation of operating conditions. The thesis is a summary of five scientific papers. Major issues for succeeding with diesel reforming are fuel injection, reactant mixing and achieving fuel cell quality reformate. The results obtained in this work contribute to the continued research and development of diesel reforming catalysts and processes. A diesel reformer, designed to generate hydrogen to feed a 5 kWe polymer electrolyte fuel cell has been evaluated for autothermal reforming of commercial diesel fuel. The operational results show the feasibility of the design to generate hydrogen-rich gases from complex diesel fuel mixtures and have, together with CFD calculations, been supportive in the development of a new improved reformer design. In addition to diesel, the reforming reactor design was shown to run satisfactorily with other hydrocarbon mixtures, such as gasoline and E85. Rh-based catalysts were used in the studies and exhibit high performance during diesel reforming without coke formation on the catalyst surface. An interesting finding is that the addition of Mn to Rh catalysts appears to improve activity during diesel reforming. Therefore, Mn could be considered to be used to decrease the noble metal loading, and thereby the cost, of diesel reforming catalysts. Dimethyl ether is a potential diesel fuel alternative and has lately been considered as hydrogen carrier for fuel cells in truck auxiliary power units. The studies related to dimethyl ether have been focused on the evaluation of Pd-based catalysts and the influence of operating parameters for autothermal reforming. PdZn-based catalysts were found to be very promising for DME reforming, generating product gases with high selectivity to hydrogen and carbon dioxide. The high product selectivity is correlated to PdZn interactions, leading to decreased activity of decomposition reactions. Auxiliary power systems fueled with DME could, therefore, make possible fuel processors with very low complexity compared to diesel-fueled systems. The work presented in this thesis has enhanced our understanding of diesel and DME reforming and will serve as basis for future studies. / QC 20100804

Eine kompakte und effiziente Wasserstofferzeugung aus verfügbaren Energieträgern ist für die Marktfähigkeit von Brennstoffzellenheizgeräten essentiell. Der Auslegung von Reformern für PEM-Brennstoffzellen kommt eine große Bedeutung zu, da bei diesem Brennstoffzellentyp keine interne Reformierung möglich ist. In dieser Arbeit werden die mathematische Modellierung der Dampfreformierung von Erdgas, die Rolle der eingesetzten Katalysatoren und die Problematik von Wärme- und Stofftransportprozessen untersucht. Für fünf kommerzielle Nickel- und einen Rhodiumkatalysator werden die Kinetik, die effektive Wärmeleitfähigkeit und der Diffusionskoeffizient ermittelt. Unter Verwendung dieser Werte wird in einem Einzelpartikelmodell die Existenz und Signifikanz von intra- und extrapartikulären Stoff- und Temperaturgradienten evaluiert. Daraus werden für ein quasihomogenes Reaktormodell Modellparameter abgeleitet, die eine exakte Simulation unter Berücksichtigung der relevanten Phänomene zulassen. Schließlich wird ein Reaktormodell erstellt, welches mit Messwerten aus einem Versuchsreaktor validiert und für eine Sensitivitätsanalyse verwendet wird.

Hydrogen, nitrogen and syngas enriched diesel combustion

On-board hydrogen and syngas production is considered as a transition solution from fossil fuel to hydrogen powered vehicles until problems associated with hydrogen infrastructure, distribution and storage are resolved. A hydrogen- or syngas-rich stream, which substitutes part of the main hydrocarbon fuel, can be produced by supplying diesel fuel in a fuel-reforming reactor, integrated within the exhaust pipe of a diesel engine. The primary aim of this project was to investigate the effects of intake air enrichment with product gas on the performance, combustion and emissions of a diesel engine. The novelty of this study was the utilisation of the dilution effect of the reformate, combined with replacement of part of the hydrocarbon fuel in the engine cylinder by either hydrogen or syngas. The experiments were performed using a fully instrumented, prototype 2.0 litre Ford HSDI diesel engine. The engine was tested in four different operating conditions, representative for light- and medium-duty diesel engines. The product gas was simulated by bottled gases, the composition of which resembled that of typical diesel reformer product gas. In each operating condition, the percentage of the bottled gases and the start of diesel injection were varied in order to find the optimum operating points. The results showed that when the intake air was enriched with hydrogen, smoke and CO emissions decreased at the expense of NOx. Supply of nitrogen-rich combustion air into the engine resulted in a reduction in NOx emissions; nevertheless, this technique had a detrimental effect on smoke and CO emissions. Under low-speed low-load operation, enrichment of the intake air with a mixture of hydrogen and nitrogen led to simultaneous reductions in NOx, smoke and CO emissions. Introduction of a mixture of syngas and nitrogen into the engine resulted in simultaneous reductions in NOx and smoke emissions over a wide range of the engine operating window. Admission of bottled gases into the engine had a negative impact on brake thermal efficiency. Although there are many papers in the literature dealing with the effects of intake air enrichment with separate hydrogen, syngas and nitrogen, no studies were found examining how a mixture composed of hydrogen and nitrogen or syngas and nitrogen would affect a diesel engine. Apart from making a significant contribution to existing knowledge, it is 3 believed that this research work will benefit the development of an engine-reformer system since the product gas is mainly composed of either a mixture of hydrogen and nitrogen or a mixture of syngas and nitrogen.

Är Asylprocessen i Sverige Rättssäker? : En Undersökning om de Offentliga Biträdena och Ombudens Roll före och efter Reformerna 2006.

<p>Som den svenska asylprocessen såg ut innan 2006, var den omdiskuterad och hårt kritiserad. Processen sades sakna insyn och ansågs därför alltför öppen för beslut tagna baserat på politiska, snarare än juridiska, grunder. År 2005 skapades en ny Utlänningslag. Även asylprocessen reformerades och den nya ordningen innebär bland annat möjligheten för asylsökande att få sin sak prövad i särskilda domstolar; Migrationsdomstolar.</p><p>Då målet med reformerna var att skapa en öppnare process offentliggjordes även Migrationsverkets databas för landinformation. De offentliga biträdena och ombuden som Migrationsverket tilldelar asylsökande fick utvidgade arbetsuppgifter. Vid prövning i Migrationsdomstol möter klienten med biträde Migrationsverket som motpart. Reformerna har bidragit till en möjlig stärkt ställning för den asylsökande beroende på hur den sökandes talan förs. Mycket av detta ansvar beror därför på klientens biträde.</p><p>Med anledning av reformerna som trädde i kraft år 2006 och de offentliga biträdenas betydande roll syftar denna uppsats till att utvärdera rättssäkerheten i den svenska asylprocessen genom att rikta fokus på biträdena i processen. Undersökningsmetoden utgörs av ett enkätutskick till offentliga biträden i Malmö region. Undersökningen backas upp av en teoretisk diskussion om den svenska rättsstaten, de svenska statsmakterna och så kallad lesson-drawing. Det senare innebar möjligheten till att dra lärdom från andra länder, områden eller skeden, där brister i rättssäkerheten uppdagas. Detta ramverk har använts i syfte att jämföra asylprocessen före och efter reformerna.</p><p>Resultatet av enkätundersökningen stödjer hypotesen om att rättssäkerheten i asylprocessen ökat sedan reformerna och den nya lagen trädde i kraft. Processen upplevs som tydligare, mer rättssäker och mer öppen överlag. Undersökningen har dock belyst områden av processen som fortfarande hotar förutsägbarheten samt lämnar många biträden missnöjda över sin arbetssituation. Det faktum att Migrationsverket utser biträdena och på så vis kan påverka sin egen motpart i Migrationsdomstolen är ett problem som hotar rättsäkerheten. Migrationsverkets landinformation kritiseras även för att vara otillräckligt och anses ibland ha företräde i domstol, vilket belyser ytterligare infekterade områden.</p> / <p>The Swedish asylum process, as it appeared before 2006, was debated and criticised. It was know to lack transparency and, therefore, to leave to much room for political rather than legal decisions. A new law regulating asylum and immigration was created in 2005. The asylum process was reformed and opened, among other things, up for the possibility for asylum seekers to receive a trial in special courts; Migrationsdomstolar.</p><p>Since one of the goals with the reforms was to make the process more transparent, the Swedish Migration Board (Migrationsverket) made their database for country specific information available to the public. The public defenders were granted a more significant role in pleading his or her clients cause. During a trial in court the client will meet the Migration Board. The reforms have thus opened up for the possibility for the client to have a stronger position in the process, where much of the responsibility of ensuring this falls upon the assigned counsel.</p><p>Because of the changes in the asylum process in 2006, and the high level of responsibility given to the public defenders following the reforms, this thesis aims at evaluating the rule of law in the Swedish asylum process. Focus is on the public defenders and the method of investigation a self-administered survey distributed to the public defenders in Malmö region. A theoretical discussion including the Swedish Rechtstaat and possibilities of lesson-drawing from programs across jurisdictions, various areas and time, is used as a framework for comparing the asylumprocess before and after the reforms.</p><p>The survey results support the hypothesis that the legal security in the asylum process has been improved following the reforms and the introduction of the new law. The process is more transparent, more secure and more predictable. The investigation has, however, illuminated some infected areas of the asylum process. The fact that the Migration Board assignes the counsels, and thus has got the opportunity to select their opponent in court, is one of these problematic areas. Another concerns the country specific information in the Migration Board’s database. The database has not only been criticised for not being up to date but has also been said to be preferred and seen as more reliable in the special courts.</p>

Réformateurs au quotidien : approche sociologique du travail de réforme dans la mise en œuvre d’une nouvelle loi sur les parcs nationaux / Reformers at work : a sociological approach to reform work in the case of the new French law for national parks

Au croisement de la sociologie du changement institutionnel, du travail administratif et de l’action publique environnementale, notre thèse appréhende de façon originale la question de l’autonomie du réformateur à partir d’un suivi ethnographique sur six ans du travail quotidien de cadres intermédiaires de l’administration responsables de la mise en œuvre d’une réforme des politiques territoriales de la nature : les directeurs de parcs nationaux. Après avoir démontré empiriquement, puis théoriquement à partir de leurs spécificités, l’inertie institutionnelle particulièrement forte de ces politiques publiques, nous soutenons la thèse suivante : même dans un contexte fortement contraint, l’autonomie du réformateur existe mais n'est jamais donnée ni acquise. Elle dépend étroitement de la pratique quotidienne du travail de réforme. Le réformateur doit la construire et l’entretenir. Certaines phases de la trajectoire de transformation institutionnelle s’avèrent cruciales pour cela : son démarrage et de courtes parenthèses où le réformateur peut travailler à ce que la dynamique du processus de réforme lui-même contraste fortement avec l’inertie de la politique publique. La gestion du processus de réforme, plus que sa substance, est ainsi au cœur de la construction de l’autonomie du réformateur et de l’ouverture d’une trajectoire d’innovation. Nous en montrons les modalités pratiques autour d’un travail d’interprétation, de composition et de modélisation par lequel la lecture de l’action en cours se fait de plus en plus à travers le prisme de l’expérience collective récente (de mise en œuvre de la réforme) et moins à travers celui de l’histoire lointaine sur lequel se fonde l’inertie institutionnelle. / Our research work brings together sociology of institutional change, studies of administrative work and studies of environmental policies. Drawing on a six years ethnographical study, we document the daily activities of directors of national parks (i.e. middle managers in French administration) in charge of implementing in new law to reform this nature conservation policy. We address the issue of reformer’s autonomy. We demonstrate empirically, then theoretically, that national parks, and more generally nature conservation policies, features high institutional inertia. Then we argue that, even in a context including strong constraints, reformers have autonomy. Yet autonomy is never pre-given nor can be taken for granted. It closely depends on reformers’ daily practices. Reformers need to build and to maintain their autonomy. Certain stages in institutional change linked to the implementation of the reform are critical to achieve this : the beginning of the reform process and then short periods when reformers can work to ensure that the dynamics of the reform process itself depart strongly from the usual inertia mechanisms of the public policy. Thus, the management of the reform process, more than its substance, is at the heart of the building of reformers’ autonomy and opens up a space for institutional innovation. We document the practical modalities of reformers’ work of interpretation, of composition and of modeling which contribute to the fact that ongoing action is increasingly being considered through the lens of the recent collective experience (since the beginning of the reform) rather than through the lens of the distant history on which institutional inertia is based.
