Abstract: The present work aims to make an analysis of the content of José de Albuquerques publications from 1928 to 1950 which deal with the sexual education theme. silva_mm_me_arafcl.pdf: 1174498 bytes, checksum: 398e7964fad5688344e2c9a2bdad2f7e (MD5) / A educação sexual foi inserida oficialmente no currículo de todas as escolas brasileiras de ensino fundamental com a publicação dos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCN), pelo Ministério da Educação (MEC), em 1997. / Sexual education was inserted on scholar curriculum in Brazil by the publication of the National Curricular Parameters, by the Education Ministry (MEC, in Portuguese), in 1997. In 2010, UNESCO published the International Guidelines on Sexuality Education, recommending to all countries in the world to discuss themes related to sexuality in scholar education, proposing manners to perform this task with kids since five years old, teenagers and adults of all ages. So, this work consists in an analysis of these proposals according to the historical-dialectical materialism and based on historical-critical pedagogy, in order to identify the interests that sexual education at school comes to satisfy. The starting point of this work is the set of information extracted from the referred proposals, as well some aspects of the pedagogical contemporary ideary that provide their basis, and also some historical information about sexuality and sexual education (empirical reality). In order to unveiling the mediations and internal contradictions of the phenomenon are adopted the assumptions of historical-critical pedagogy referred to its human development conception, scientific knowledge and school functions (theoretical mediation). By the relation between the objectives, methods and contents proposed by the analysed documents and the historical-social totality, this work intends to overcome the apparent apprehension of sexual education at school and identify the interests related to this process (concrete reality). The collected information allows to conclude that historically sexual education is proposed in order to control society, what is also verified in the analysed proposals. By joining to the new pedagogy, the sexual education recommended by MEC and UNESCO omits scientific contents and emphasizes the empirical student interest in the educational process... / Institutional sheltering is one of the protection measures provided in the Child and Adolescent Statute, described as an interim and exceptional measure, applicable when the rights recognized by the Statute are violated by negligence or abuse of parents or guardians. In these cases, the child or adolescent can be referred to an institution that offers the host, which we will call shelter in this research. In these institutions, the child or adolescent is under the care of professionals, here called educators, who maintain direct and continuous contact with sheltered children and adolescents. In this contact is inevitable the meeting between educators and the sexuality of children and adolescents, which is inherent to these subjects. In this encounter, to the sexual manifestations of the sheltered children and adolescents can be attributed different meanings by educators, depending on their own sexual education and their unconscious representations on sexuality, which will be transmitted to children and adolescents. In this respect, the aim of this research is to investigate the place that the educator has occupied in relation to sexuality and the sexual education of sheltered children and adolescents. The research project was sent to a Research Ethics Committee and approved by it. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, with open and projective questions, which were audiographed. The material was analyzed by two psychoanalytical techniques of data interpretation: reading directed by listening and instrumentalized transference. From these techniques, an individual essay was written for each interview and a synthesis that sought to articulate the data of the four interviews. The results point out that educators have a place in relation to the sexuality of children and adolescents that is multifaceted, in which there is, on the one hand, the reproduction of prejudices, but in which it is also possible to recognize potentialities for a more effective sheltering.

Sexually Transmitted Disease Rates and Sexual Education Programs in the Georgia School SystemMasutier, Valerie 03 August 2017 (has links)
The prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) continues to be a significant challenge to public health in the United States. While educational institutions, health professionals, and community outreach programs have helped the rates of transmission on local, national, and global scales, we are still seeing a rise in contraction and spreading of these infections. Half of these STI cases are from individuals ages 15 -24 years of age. For that reason, we must explore why this age group has the highest cases of STI rates (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], Sexually Transmitted Disease Transmission 2015). The focus of this project is to explore the relationship between sex education programs in Georgia public schools and their contribution to rise in STIs in this state. Here I argue that the curriculum of these programs affect students in numerous ways through teaching concepts, curriculum choices, romanticized ideology of sex, scare and shame tactics, and inaccurate information. With the consideration of these factors and student testimony, the sex education programs’ contribution to the high rates of STIs in Georgia are assessed.

In this study we aim to research teacher opinions on sexual education and how it is conducted within schools in Sweden. From their view of the education we want to elucidate the different factors of success and tribulation that the sexual education contains. The teacher opinions, which are collected through semi-structured interviews, reflect many different aspects of the sexual education. Though the informants possess different positions within schools they all seem to have some what the same idea of what successes and tribulations the sexual education contains. Furthermore all of them agree on one thing, the students want more sexual education. Throughout the study we also give a detailed exposition of historical perspectives on sex-education, as well as previous research on the area we have chosen for our study. To strengthen our collected material we also conduct a theoretical exposition, were we lay our focus on descriptions of shame, sexuality, gender and heteronormativity. We then move on to analyze our collected material were we draw parallels to our theoretical starting points. In our analyze we answer our questions of research thoroughly. The results of the study is later discussed form our personal perspective were we involve our thoughts and opinions

The Efficacy of Formal Sexual Education in LGBTQ Adolescents: A Review of the LiteratureDressel, Candice P 01 January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this review of review was to determine if inclusive and comprehensive formal sexual education is effective in promoting safer sex behaviors compared to abstinence only until marriage sexual education, for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) adolescents. Peer reviewed articles were retrieved from Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC), Elton B. Stephens Co. Host (Ebsco Host), Medical Literature On-line (Medline), Psychological Information Database (PsychINFO) and government released statistical information that was published from 2000-2017. Inclusion criteria of synthesized articles were based on formal sexual education aimed at adolescent populations, including focus on LGBTQ subgroups. The literature reviewed demonstrated abstinence only until marriage formal sexual education has minimal to no effects on LGBTQ adolescent’s sexual behaviors. Whereas, comprehensive and inclusive formal sexual education has been shown to increase condom use, delay first sexual interaction, and decrease number of sexual partners and teen pregnancy. In conclusion, the research indicates that individuals who have received comprehensive or inclusive formal sexual education have a greater chance of demonstrating safe sex behaviors compared to those who received abstinence only until marriage sexual education.

"Don't Have Sex, You'll Get Pregnant and Die!": Female University Students' Experiences with Abstinence-Only EducationNorwick, Jillian Grace 01 January 2016 (has links)
Based on the various changes in sexual education, many schools throughout the United States still teach abstinence-only education. There is a plethora of literature on the effectiveness of sexual education programs as well as adolescent sexual practices. However, there is a deep gap in literature on students' perspectives of their sexual education and the possible effects it has on their experiences while in college. Therefore, this phenomenological study aims to explore and describe the essence of the experience female university students have regarding the abstinence-only education they received during secondary schooling. The informants (n=12) were 19-22 year old female university undergraduate students who received abstinence-only education within their middle and/or high school. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews. Data was analyzed through a phenomenological approach where themes and sub-themes emerged. The results from this study indicate that no matter what the participants’ personal beliefs and values surrounding sex are, their abstinence-only sexual education did not teach them adequate information for their secondary school years nor to prepare them for their time in a university setting.

Analýza výuky sexuální výchovy na středních školách v Libereckém kraji / Analysis of sex education lessons on schools in Liberec regionBuriánková, Lucie January 2013 (has links)
This diploma thesis is focused to the analysis of sexual education on high schools in Liberec region. The most part of the diploma thesis is composed by the questionnaire survey which was perfomed on two comprehensive schools, two secondary schools and two vocational schools. The research attended the students of the third school classes only (18-19 years old). The questionnaire survey was focused to the students knowledge and attitude towards the sexual education. I have defined 9 hypothesis based on the research which were statistically analyzed after that. It appears that the students of comprehensive schools have better knowledges than the students from other secondary/vocational schools and that the knowledges are different among the boys and girls. The congizance of sexual education generally appear as good. The teachers paying attention to this topic during the lessons because they consider the theme important as well as the students. On the other hand the survey revealed that the students did not learn any news during the school lessons in this respect which they know more likely from the Internet. It shows importance to integrate the sexual lessons to the primary schools rather that. Key words: sexual education, contraception, sexually transmitted infection, questionnaire survey.
