Lin,Fang-Ju Unknown Date (has links)
In the process of Taiwan economic development, small and medium size enterprises play very significant positions. In general, they are the foundations of Taiwan’s economy. With their flexible and efficiency manufacturing characteristics, small and medium size enterprises are the most contributors for Taiwan’s economic growth. However, as they are recognized as lack of financial capital and human resources, it is more difficult for them to manage their operations than big size enterprises. The small and medium size enterprises have occupied a significant proportion of Taiwan economy system for a long time. In the history of economy and industry development in Taiwan, the small and medium size enterprises have remarkable contributions in many aspects, such as the growth of foreign trade, national income and work opportunity, the improvement of the living standard, or the stability of society. This study base on census data which have long-term and complete time series data to seek the changes of market shares of small and medium size enterprises and to analyze the determinants of market shares of small and medium size enterprises in 1991、1996 and 2001 by OLS regression and quantile regression. We employ quantile regression to capture the behavior at each quantile of conditional distribution. According to the data result, RL is significant positive effect on market shares of small and medium size enterprises, while EX and AG is significant negative effect on it in 1991、1996 and 2001. These three variables are important factors during the past 10 years. XR and XE both are indications of sub-contracting system. As result of three-year combination model, these two variables are significant positive effect on market shares of small and medium size enterprises which belong to the industry of small and medium quantiles.

The effectiveness of MRP II to integrate enterprise systems : Effektiviteten av MRP II för att integrera företagssystem

Meza De los Cobos., Benjamin, Ortigoza Monroy., Ricardo January 2006 (has links)
The Small and Medium-size Enterprises are the key bone of the economy of many nations. The usual definition of SME’s, make up 99.8% of the approximately 19 million enterprises of the European Union (ISO, 2002) and Sweden is not an exception. That is why SME’s faces the strategic challenge of achieving sustained profitable growth. To meet this challenge, SME’s must develop capabilities to integrate their systems. Since ICT gives so many advantages to support the Supply Chain, and MRPII software’s have become a very popular tool in the last thirty years; Our purpose is to answer the following research question: How can MRP II-type computer systems be used effectively to support the manufacturing and organizational integration? The research started with on-site observations and interviews but the development of a model and a survey was needed. After, we linked the research with an already accepted model. The results show how important the human aspect and the accuracy are in the effective usage of an MRP II. It also demonstrates that the MRP II philosophy must be accepted to use the MRP II software profitably. Nevertheless, we modeled the vicious cycle that our case company might deal with, tried to find the root cause and give recommendations to break it.

Implementação de ERP em pequenas e médias empresas: estudo de caso em empresa do setor da construção civil / ERP implementation in small and medium size businesses: case study in a enterprise construction sector

Valente, Nelma Terezinha Zubek 20 December 2004 (has links)
Integrated Management Systems, originally known as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) provoke massive impact in the companies where they are implemented. The effects, both positive - benefits, contributions and advantages, and negative - difficulties, barriers and problems faced along implementation, as well as the challenges posed by the execution and use of ERP, have been discussed in many studies. However, much of the research on the effects and the impact resulting from the adoption of ERP has focused on processes and results derived from the implementation of that system in large enterprises, in spite of the increasing participation of small and medium size businesses (SMEs) in the acquisition of such system. Considering that: SMEs display distinctive characteristics from the larger enterprises; suppliers have shown increasing interest on this segment; there has been a swell in the participation of these enterprises in the acquisition of integrated enterprise systems, this work aimed at answering the following question: How does the ERP implementation process take place in SMEs? Case study of the type unique and incorporated was the kind of research chosen to investigate the implementation process of an ERP system in a construction enterprise considered small according to ERP suppliers criteria, and medium size if Brazilian current parameters are to be taken into account. The study aimed at investigating the way the process evolved in the above-mentioned enterprise, based on the following theoretical proposition: enterprise context prior to the adoption of ERP; difficulties and troubles faced along implementation; advantages and disadvantages obtained through ERP; challenges imposed by its implementation; level of satisfaction of the enterprise with the system. The evidence allowed us to ascertain that: some relevant aspects present in the process of implementation of ERP validate facts already observed in previous studies, some others consubstantiate differences, some do not comply with the present written material available, and some are new aspects, still not mentioned in studies on the subject.

Market analysis for electric vehicle supply equipment : The case of China / Analys av marknaden för laddningsutrustning för elbilar : Fallet Kina

BUSK, ANDREY, JOELSSON WARRENSTEIN, ARVID January 2014 (has links)
Personal electric vehicles (EV) is an emerging technology that has gained much momentum in several markets during the past decade, and China is currently one of the markets where the growth in EV sales is the highest. Since the industry is still in its infancy, there are currently no clear structures regarding the relationships between different actors that apply to all markets globally, leading to great uncertainty in strategic decisions. The commissioner of this study is Hong Kong EV Power Ltd. (EV Power), a producer of EV supply equipment (EVSE) and related services in Hong Kong, which aspires to enter the Chinese mainland in the near future. However, EV Power has yet to decide which city they want to target first. This thesis aims to formulate a model that can be used to evaluate and compare geographic markets for a market entry by an EVSE company. Furthermore, the model is tested on three cities in Mainland China (Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen), in order to derive the most attractive city for EV Power and to evaluate the adequacy of the model. Lastly, with the results from the city evaluation, as a point of departure, success factors for an entry into Mainland China by the commissioning company will be summarized. In order to achieve this objective, four distinct data collection methods have been used: First, theory was studied, in order to gain background knowledge as well as to understand specific factors that impact a market entry decision such as this. Second, EV Power’s current business in Hong Kong was observed, with a view to achieve an understanding of what has led the company to experience success in its home market. Third, Interviews with industry experts were conducted, so as to get a perspective on the industry as a whole. Fourth and last, secondary data for the different cities was collected, for the sake of evaluating them according to the developed model. The final model consists of five main factors that encompass the elements that influence a cities level of attractiveness for entry by an EV charging station supplier. The identified factors are: ‘Market accessibility’, ‘Short-term demand’, ‘Expected market share’, ‘Profit margin’, and ‘Long-term product potential’. These factors are in turn divided into sub factors that have their own set of drivers. Using the model to evaluate the cities, it was found that Shanghai is the most suitable city for a market entry by EV Power, mainly due to its dominance in the market for private EVs and a favourable regulatory environment. Finally, three main success factors, for such a market entry, were found: ‘Focus on services’, ‘Maintain partner relationships’, and ‘Enter early’.
