Opera i Stockholm, Frihamnen

Segura, Antonio January 2011 (has links)

VISION REGION

Lundell, Björn January 2011 (has links)

Restoring the Already Restored

Aaro, Hedvig January 2022 (has links)
Restoration has been a tool for enhancing selected parts of history, which tells about the ideals of its time. Today most older buildings have already been through several restorations or renovations. How should one approach and valuate historical layers? The purpose of this thesis has been to study earlier restoration work and its approaches and ideals. From this, interventions and design has been done through an alteration of Börshuset in Gamla Stan in Stockholm. The restoration proposal consists of three interventions done with three different approaches: reconstruction, alteration of the existing and an added function and element. Through this method, the project attempts to answer questions about how we can relate to existing buildings, not just as artefacts of their time, but as living things with a complex and layered history. My proposal is a suggestion to reintroduce lost qualities and value the historical layers that are or have been present in Börshuset. By being aware of the difficulty in appreciating newer layers there is a possibility for a better assessment and decision-making that could save historical layers which might become our future cultural heritage.

Traveling Home

Qiu, Mingyu January 2021 (has links)
The population's aging phenomenon is no longer a new topic world wide. "The wlderly", as the term indicates, is labeled as one not obvious marginalized group. Architecture reporter Eric Baldwin also wrote that " Architects and planners must begin moving beyond end of life care and nursing facilities to consider the new design challenges posed by aging adults who desire active, interconnected lifestyles. Embracing networks of family and community, a new generation of Elederly adults are looking to maintain independence and freedom trough nobility, self- governance and third spaces." What I am trying to do is to explore a new life style for the elderly to have fun, freedom, social connections and get the help they need properly in the center of Stockholm. At the same time, this project also has symbolic meaning that the city refill the lost attention of the elderly.

A Housing Manifesto : Applying alternative policy and design strategies in Stockholm / Ett bostadsmanifest : Tillämpning av alternativa strategier för politik och utformning i Stockholm

Hollweg, Franziska Dorothee, Orejuela, Gaudy January 2021 (has links)
Today, housing is considered a commodity. This is a global challenge with direct local consequences such as unaffordability, limited housing choice, and segregation. To address these disparities, this thesis expresses a demand for change by proposing a housing manifesto for Stockholm. The aim is to explore alternative theories and models to propose a framework that is capable of redefining housing from a feminist and socio-ecological perspective. Our approach demands seeing housing as a human right, a commons, and a circle of care. To find specificity and materiality, the project focuses on applying the manifesto on two scenarios, Husby and Gasverket, which demonstrate problematic tendencies in the current housing system. By implementing strategies at different scales, we project alternatives in the urban form. This thesis challenges the role of urban planners and designers as collaborators and enablers of a vision of housing with and for all.

Increased Salinity of Drilled Wells in Stockholm County – analysis of natural factors.

Bleppony, Rueben Arnoldz January 2013 (has links)
Almost 50 % of drinking water in Sweden comes from aquifers. The sustainability of groundwater resources in Stockholm County is threatened by increased salinity although most of the drinking water comes from Lake Mälaren. For a region known to be located within the areas covered by seawater after the last glaciation, the health and socio-economic development of the county is in a balance as development plans are challenged by high risk of salt groundwater. It is therefore important to know the extent and spread of salinity within the areas and the factors that correlate well with the salinity in the first attempt to study the risk of the areas to high salt content of groundwater. This paper looks at the distribution of salinity within the county and analyses the correlation between salinity and several natural factors. Using well co-ordinates and chemical data (compiled by Stockholm County Administration), and digital topographical, geological and land use data (from SGU and Swedish Land Survey), it is possible to project and visualize wells and salinity over the area, spatially develop and extract natural factor values to respective wells based on their co-ordinates, and finally perform statistical analyses on a resultant well attributes table, with the aid of Surfer, ArcGIS and Statistica Software. Results showing the spatial distribution of wells’ salinity and graphs of variance between the salinity of wells and respective natural factors of topography, depth, predominant soil cover, land use and distance from the sea, are further discussed.
