Skit i boken!

Arildsson, Emma, Viberg Jonsson, Anna January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to analyze how preschool teachers in seven preschools from different pedagogical perspectives in Sweden think about outdoor pedagogy and whether their perspectives influence their work and how they teach. Three research questions have been formulated in order to investigate the purpose: What are the pedagogues’ perceptions of outdoor pedagogy? What are the pedagogues’ perceptions of the differences between teaching indoors and outdoors? What are the pedagogues’ main perceptions of outdoor teaching?  A qualitative method has been used in this study, the data were collected through interviews and observations using a phenomenographical approach. The study was carried out in seven preschools in Sweden, with a total of sixteen informants agreeing to participate in the study. A phenomenographical, variational theoretical method has been used to interpret the collected data from the interviews, and the analysis of the data from the observations was conducted from John Dewey’s progressivism perspective and “learning by doing”.  This study came to the conclusion that the participating pedagogues show positive insights on the benefits of outdoor pedagogy regardless of pedagogical approach. The study also showed that the conditions for a good quality of an outdoor pedagogy depends on the pedagogues’ interest, experience, and role as a child’s co-discoverer and co-player. The variation in answers from the group of informants showed a great difference between personal opinions and experiences. Knowledge and a willingness to learn and to implement teaching outdoors set high demands on the pedagogues in the need for innovation, spontaneity and flexibility. Demanding factors prone to affect outdoor pedagogy are considered to be a workforce shortage in preschool, fluctuating weather conditions, and other factors affecting the child’s personal equipment, for example their clothing.

Special Education Elementary Teachers' Perceptions of Daily Living Skills Instruction for Students With Autism

Spencer, Jamala 01 January 2017 (has links)
The question of which strategies for teaching daily living skills (DLS) are most effective for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) requires increased attention. Special education elementary teachers may not have the instructional strategies necessary to teach DLS to students with ASD. DLS instruction for students with ASD is important because these skills are essential to functioning in school as well as society. The aim of this study was to identify elementary special education teachers' perceptions about their ability to teach DLS to students with ASD. The study's conceptual framework was rooted in a synthesis of ideas from current refereed literature, along with Bandura's social cognitive theory. Purposeful sampling identified 10 participants for individual interviews. Findings indicated 2 themes that emerged from Bandura's (1993) self-efficacy theory: lack of competency to teach DLS and teachers' beliefs about DLS instruction. Thematic and open coding indicated the following themes: lack of time, lack of administrative support in formally addressing DLS deficits, and strategies influencing DLS acquisition. The results indicated that special education elementary teachers did not feel efficacious about their ability to teach DLS to students with ASD and did not feel that they had time and support to provide DLS instruction to students with ASD. This study suggests a need for ongoing, sustainable professional development opportunities for special education teachers related to teaching DLS to students with ASD. Social change implications include improved teacher practice focused on increasing DLS performance for students with ASD so that they will be able to independently perform DLS in various environments, along with increased awareness and comprehension of the value of teacher voice in DLS instructional practices for students with ASD. / This research was developed within the research line "Training of Education Professionals, Educational Policies and Public School" of the Graduate Program in Education of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, UNESP / Campus de Presidente Prudente. The main objective of this study is to analyze the possibilities, tensions and challenges of the São Paulo Faz Escola Program from the point of view of teachers, taking the particular case of a state school in the municipality of Presidente Prudente - SP. The São Paulo Faz Escola Program was implemented by the State Department of Education of São Paulo in 2008, with the purpose, expressed in official documents, of combating the low school performance found from external evaluations. In summary, the Program has a set of apostilled materials that aims to subsidize the work of the teacher in the classroom, thus has: teacher's notebooks (which determines the step by step of the classes, with methodologies and forms of evaluations), notebook (with activities to be carried out), and the Manager's notebook (with information on the implementation of the Proposal). Starting in 2010, the program becomes the new Official Curriculum of the State of São Paulo, making it compulsory for all schools in São Paulo. In this way, qualitative research was carried out using the following methodological procedures for data collection: bibliographical research, documentary research, questionnaire application and semistructured type interview with ten teachers from a State school in the municipality of Presidente Prudente. The research participants were chosen because they have been working in the São Paulo state network since the implementation of the Curricular Proposal, becoming key sources of information, because they have relevant experiences and knowledge for the research theme. The final analysis of the collected data was made in the light of the theoretical reference guide of the research and through content analysis. Based on the analysis of the data obtained it was concluded that the São Paulo Faz Escola Program is insufficient in its main objective, the improvement of the quality of teaching, considering that it is a standardized material that does not contemplate the reality of the students, besides to be incomplete in relation to the contents considered necessary for the student's development. From this analysis it can be noted that what is wrong with the norm and the resistance on the part of the teachers to fulfill what is right is the same in the official documents, with respect to the process of adaptation, accommodation and acceptance to the São Paulo curriculum.

The lack of knowledge in Swedish doesn’t mean that you can’t : A qualitative study based on interviews about newly arrived pupils developing their knowledge in civic education

Haglund, Agnes January 2020 (has links)
There are high expectations on newly arrived pupils in school. They are supposed to develop both language and subject knowledge at the same time. This despite teachers lacking competence in how to promote newly arrived pupils’ development in language and subject knowledge at the same time. Because of this, the aim of this study is to contribute with knowledge about how to organize the teaching in the social orientated subjects for newly arrived pupils in 4th-6th grade. This is done by answering the following questions: Which factors in the teaching do teachers perceive promoting for newly arrived pupils developing their knowledge in the social orientated subjects? And in what ways is learning in the social orientated subjects made possible for newly arrived students? A school didactic theory and sociocultural theory form the theoretical framework of the study. Data has been collected by qualitative interviews with five teachers. All the collected data has been thematically analyzed and put together in matrices based on similarities and differences. The processing and analysis resulted in five head themes: professions and functions involved, the impact of linguistic awareness, the importance of social interaction, use of translanguaging and intercultural perspective. Each theme was divided into subthemes to concretize the meaning of the result. The teachers’ perception differed, but the most common similarity was that they perceived study guidance in the mother tongue as a useful resource to promote newly arrived pupils’ knowledge and to make the pupils’ knowledge more visible. Support from images was mentioned as great for processing content in the subject. It was described as important to be aware of both words, specific for the subject, and more ordinary words, used in the daily talk, that the newly arrived pupils are not aware of. Another factor mentioned to be aware of was group structures. This because newly arrived pupils attend to not be involved in heterogeneous groups. Films in the mother tongue and the use of Inläsningstjänst was described as successful tools for newly arrived pupils to increase their knowledge in the social orientated subjects. Lastly the importance of subject teachers’ knowledge about how to increase newly arrived pupils’ knowledge and about available resources are mentioned.

Lek, lärande och digitalisering i förskolan : En kvalitativ undersökning om förskollärares uppfattning kring att använda digitala verktyg i praktiken / Play, learning and digitization in preschool : A qualitative study on preschool teachers ‘perception of using digital tools in practice

Sandra, Westby January 2021 (has links)
This study aims at preschool and preschool teachers' use of digital tools. It should provide knowledge about why it is important that digital tools are used in preschool. The study is based on the preschool teachers' own experiences with digital tools and why it is important for the preschool's mission. The preschool teachers in my study experience demands and challenges in connection with digital tools, despite this, the preschool teachers try to create learning situations, even if they themselves believe that they lack skills. It is a phenomenographic interview study, in the study, eight preschool teachers were interviewed to answer my purpose and my questions. In a phenomenographic study, the reader gets to take part in specific phenomena that have been investigated, as well as how it can be made visible in practice. In a qualitative study like this, interviews were chosen to get to grips with the area, I have used open-ended questions to get deep into the thoughts about what preschool teachers have the perception of using digital tools for both play and learning situations. The material has since been transcribed, after which I have found common outcomes around digital tools. The study reveals important parties that come into play when it comes to using digital tools for both play and learning. The results and the conclusion show that preschool teachers are partly unable to achieve all goals, but that they have the will, drive, and the right attitude that is important for the role a preschool teacher is faced with. The preschool teachers came up with several good suggestions for digital tools to become a natural part of the preschool's activities and how digital tools can be developed in play and learning situations.

Extramural English Activities. Teachers’ perceptions of students’ extramural English activities in relation to vocabulary

Pettersson, Sara, Bergdahl, Johan January 2015 (has links)
Because of the globalization of society, English as a foreign language (EFL) has become easier to access through internet and outside school English activities, so called “extramural English activities” (EEA). Previous research indicates a positive relation between pupils’ EFL vocabulary development and EEA (Sundqvist, 2009). This development may influence teachers’ lesson planning, because of pupils’ wide span of interests and the resulting different levels of EFL vocabulary. The focus of this degree project is on year five teachers’ perception of pupils’ EEA and their level of vocabulary. We investigate there is a relationship between those variables, and how teachers are bridging the gap between pupils’ EEA and classroom activities. Further on, different theories of motivation and vocabulary, and previous research are presented and used in the analysis of collected data. The data was collected qualitatively through six interviews with teachers in year five. The results indicate that the teachers, to some extent know what kind of EEA the pupils are interested in. Teachers’ perceptions of the pupils’ level of EFL vocabulary correlated to some extent with their EEA. To bridge the gap between pupils’ EEA and enhancing motivation in EFL classrooms, some teachers tried to include pupils’ experiences in their teaching. Further on, these conclusions are discussed in relation to previous research. Finally, this degree project may motivate teachers to explore the EEA habits of their pupils.

Bedömning och kommunikation i bildämnet / Assessment and Communication within the Visual Art Education

Liljekvist Bergh, Isabelle, Lindholm Persson, Ludvig January 2022 (has links)
This is a study that aims to investigate assessment and communication within visual art education. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used to analyze how teachers and students perceive assessment, grading and communication. The study is based on empirical methods that consists of a survey that was answered by students in grade 9 and semi-structured interviews with 4 teachers that all teach visual art education. The theoretical starting point is supported by contemporary research about assessment and grading in the Swedish school system, assessment within visual art and the importance of teacher to student communication. The results found, show that the teachers that participated in the study, use similar methods for assessment where they document all processes and results to help for themselves. They also assess the process of learning as much as the result. The key to teacher to student communication is clear instructions and the need for repetition. The students’ perception of teacher instruction communication is that it is often done but less often as clear as the teachers try to make it. Assessment and grading are viewed as fair but the students also perceive that their behavior affects their grade, something that was not brought up by the teachers.

Parental involvement in primary schools : a case study of three socio-economic disparate schools in Ile-Ife, Nigeria

Rofiat Omolola Obayopo 03 July 2018 (has links)
Parental involvement (PI) in three socio-economic disparate primary schools in Ile-Ife in Nigeria was investigated in the study. The study explored the effect of socio-economic status on PI using three schools representing the Lower socioeconomic status (LSES), Middle socio-economic status (MSES) and Higher socioeconomic status (HSES). The study reported how parents of three different income groups practice and perceive PI and how teachers perceive PI at the schools and what their expectations are regarding PI. The data used for empirical investigation was drawn from 15 parents and 15 teachers at each of the three schools. The parents were selected using convenience sampling and were individually interviewed while teachers are selected by purposeful random sampling and data was collected using focus group interviews and survey questionnaires. Results shows that parents’ available time, interest, level of education, social capital, parent-teacher contact and socio-economic status (SES) affected PI of which time, SES and interest were the most important factors affecting PI. PI is evidenced in all SES groups as joint cooperation between parents and teachers in support of children’s scholastic pursuit. The study suggests that, contrary to conventional opinion, parents of LSES generally have high educational goals for their children and evidence noteworthy PI practices. PI should be strengthened by building on existing positive endeavors and addressing areas of PI which are lagging behind. Strategies to strengthen these endeavors are recommended in conclusion of the study. / Educational Leadership and Management / M. Ed. (Education Management)
