Eugênio Kusnet: do ator ao professor

Piacentini, Ney Luiz 14 March 2012 (has links)
The object of this study is the trajectory of Eugênio Kusnet, from actor to professor. It will investigate that, since he had retaken his linkages with the brazilian theater, Kusnet was an ator in formation with little artistic experience in his homeland, Russia. We will see that the compreension of Constantin Stanislavski\'s work, his greatest influence, happened gradually. Starting from the Teatro Oficina\'s staging of Os Pequenos Burgueses in the sixties, we will observate how we aplied Stanislavski\'s method. This work gives a highlight on Kusnet\'s travel back to his homeland Russia in 1968, and the significant changes that this experience contribuied to his work until his final days. It will examine what he called \"Active Analyse Method\" and see how he applied this procedure, wich consist in abandoning the table-read (read-through) by the actors and the director and starting to analyse it \"with the legs\", or in other words, by experimeting the dimension of the theatrical work trough planned improvisation. The three books that he left, specially the last one, Ator e Método - wich is, by our comprehension, a synthesis of the former two (Iniciação à arte dramática e Introdução ao Método da Ação Inconsciente) - is the guide to understand Eugênio Kusnet\'s point of view, the practical and theoretical translation in Brasil of the elements, procedures and principles that he has absorbed from Stanislavski and the disciples that worked with the russian master

The Praxis of Theatre Directing: An Investigation of the Relationship Between Directorial Paradigms and Radical Group Theatre in Australia Since 1975

Foster, Michael E., n/a January 2004 (has links)
The thesis investigates the field of Theatre practice variously referred to as alternative, non-mainstream, avant-garde, community or fringe theatre. I have suggested the term 'Radical Group Theatre' - a term which, I believe, best encompasses the sector formerly represented by this diverse body of theatre practice. I focus on the relationship between theoretical and practical paradigms, and debates surrounding them; theatre making processes; and directorial practice in a theatre form which has emerged as a distinctive set of characteristics, ideological frameworks and practices in the Australian context. The work is strongly informed by the perspectives and practices of a range of major contributors to the field. It notes the inadequacy of conventional analytics and established understandings of the theory/practice nexus for exploring Radical Group Theatre, and establishes an alternate set of frameworks. These enable fresh engagement with the development and current praxis of an important theatre form which has not previously been considered as a whole field yet has taken particularly exciting directions in Australia over the past three decades. Methodology and objectives: An important aspect of the study is the way in which the research methodology parallels the practice under investigation. That is, the practice of Radical Group Theatre in Australia mirrors the 'Reflective Reflexive Loop' which I propose as the pre-eminent principle of the praxis. The methodology has developed out of my Masters degree research which was an interrogation of my directorial practice in the field of Youth/Community theatre, 1976-1989. I was further interested to analyse the field of group theatre to determine whether common key principles identified as characteristics of the form in the earlier study constituted the basis for an analytical model of Radical Group Theatre praxis. The investigation for this thesis began with a project designed to synthesise the essential qualities of directorial practice: the qualities of the good director, the major influences on practice, and the expectations participants have regarding the function of the director. The preliminary findings formed the basis for a comparative study which sought answers to the key questions as they apply to a pre-professional radical theatre setting - university student theatre. This project gave birth to the focus questions of the study which established the theoretical and methodological frames for the thesis.

Mimesi della natura e ballet d'action: per un'estetica della danza teatrale (1751 - 1785) / Mimesis of the nature and ballet d’action: an aesthetics of theatrical dance (1751-1785)

AIMO, LAURA 11 April 2011 (has links)
A research that aims at examining the theatrical dance in the XVIII century is bound to face a problematic crux: the research object is not anymore. Some traces have remained, namely, a series of various materials able to show the causality of the cause – the vacant object – but not its form. The survey starts from the revolutionary works by G. Angiolini and J.G. Noverre and goes through different philosophicals texts of authors who were interested in the status of the gesture; it questions the bunch of effects which overcame the ballet d’action in order to look into the dance as a form of art and knowledge within the wider system of representation. Particularly, the research wants to show as the negative sign which marks this discipline and the XVIII critical debate on it has to be referred to the essential expressive nature of the gesture which led to a progressive shifting of the classic paradigm of the mimesis of nature from being “imitative-reproductive” to become “expressive-creative”

Modes of engagement in theatrical documentary

Fergusson, Annie January 2006 (has links)
This research aims to chart four modes of engagement in post-verite documentary films, devoted to an exclusive examination of theatrical formats, that being those documentaries which are originally intended for a cinema audience. As these theatrical documentaries provide a means for spectators to see through the cinema screen and into the real world, it is important to understand how this 'seeing through' is constructed by the documentary production itself. This thesis acknowledges that the 'learning' of documentary stories and subjects has broadened for the global audience of today. After exploring various separate critiques of documentary voice theory, the definition of documentary and film semiotics, I have devised eight paradigms for creating this 'learning' or 'documentary consciousness' in these theatrical or cinema documentaries. I have explored how these eight paradigms can be observed to function in four different modes. These modes contribute to an evolving understanding of viewer comprehension; that thing called documentary consciousness. This is demonstrated through the audio-visual appendix of clips taken from the proto-typical theatrical documentaries I have chosen to analyse, which are: 'Bowling For Columbine' by Michael Moore (2003), which is illustrative of what I have dubbed the 'Outcome Mode'; 'Etre et Avoir' ('To Be And To Have') by Nicholas Philibert (2004), which exemplifies what I call the 'Participant Mode'; 'My Architect' by Nathaniel Kahn (2005), an example of the 'Journey Mode'; 'Baraka' by Magidson Films (1996), a model of the 'Mandala Mode'.

Le théâtre français « de l’absurde » en RFA (1949-1989) : créations et réceptions des œuvres d’Adamov, Beckett, Genet et Ionesco outre-Rhin / The French theatre of the “absurd” in West Germany (1949-1989) : productions and receptions of Adamov’s, Beckett’s, Genet’s and Ionesco’s plays

Gay, Marie-Christine 09 December 2016 (has links)
At the end of the 1940s, a new theatrical avant-garde appears on the small stages of the Left Bank in Paris: the theatre of the “absurd”, as conceptualised by the British drama critic Martin Esslin. This innovative dramatic writing style succeeds in establishing itself with the French and international public, and enjoys a long-lasting success in West German theatres. This thesis aims at uncovering the process of cultural transfer and the modes of reception in the Federal Republic of Germany through the main representatives of this movement: Arthur Adamov, Samuel Beckett, Jean Genet and Eugène Ionesco. Based on previously unpublished archival sources, this work retraces the path of the mediators of this cultural import, follows the chronology of the reception and highlights the diversity of the types of media used: theatre, radio and television. The individual steps through which the theatrical works were circulated in the West German theatre landscape between 1949 and 1989 will be analysed from the discovery by publishing houses via different translations, to major stage productions and finally the acceptance by the theatrical press and the general public. Thanks to its cosmopolitan nature, the theatre of the “absurd” was endowed by the West German host culture with an international dimension that contributed to its successful integration. Hence this study opens a new chapter in the history of Germany, its culture and theatre as well as, more widely, the French-German cultural relations.

Moldar a carne : a queerização do corpo no teatro de João Carlos Castanha

Delgado, Pedro Omar Lacerda January 2013 (has links)
Assim, utilizei fontes impressas, imagéticas, entrevistas e observações durante a prática do trabalho do ator. / This study aims to build a reflection on the embodiment process of transgender characters and theatrical constructions of a gay actor from his real life body (conjugate). Therefore, I chose to investigate the working process and body constructions of the characters played by actor João Carlos Castanha. The bodies created by this actor gain flesh from pieces of male and female bodies that result in hybrid sexuality and gender aesthetics bodies. Therefore, I have chosen to develop a research grounded in theoretical and methodological references of qualitative research, as well as the thought that subsidizes Queer Theory. So, I made use of printed sources, imagery, interviews and observations during the practice of that actor's work. Therefore, this paper is the result of a particular need for the researcher to approach these body constructions that occur in peripheral areas in a becoming theater. Thus, those areas are constituted outside the standards of male and female bodies.

The actor is the subject of this research and the object of these studies is an actor’s Vocal Expression associated with the technical and artistic training of this theatrical language component in his professional development. It relates to a research action which is simultaneously theoretical and practical, developed with a cooperative working group comprising twelve actors and six artists and technicians. The basic principles that govern the construction of a methodological proposal are structured in this, with the objective of opening up pathways that lead, facilitate and prepare an actor in reaching Vocal Truth when constructing a character and faced with any artistic and aesthetic necessities of the play. This research was the source for three plays, with construction of an original dramaturgy using a collaborative process in order to write “A Bahian Trilogy: Real City – Fantastic City – Express City”. This trilogy establishes the relationship between the theory and practice of vocal expression for an actor’s development, applied to a creation process.
