Tvorba výnosu jarních odrůd pšenice / Yield formation of spring wheat

HOŠEK, Lukáš January 2014 (has links)
The aim of my thesis is to assess the basic yield factors in the studied varieties of spring wheat. In the year 2013, there were in the framework of the test sown eight varieties (Brawura, Corso, Epos, Granny, Scirocco, Septima, Tercie and Vánek) at the land of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice. During the vegetation the number of plants, the number of sprouts and the number of spikes was recorded using a quarter tape. The data are in the results section and are converted to 1 m2. Additionally, the infestation by diseases, pests and overrunning with weeds was monitored. Before harvesting, the samples were taken for an evaluation of the number of grains per spike and HTZ. In the results section the main factors of the yield are statistically evaluated. These include the number of spikes, the number of grains per spike and HTZ. The study also evaluates the theoretical and the actual yield and the bulk density. The average number of ears in the varieties of spring wheat ranged from 411 (Corso) to 564 (Epos) ears per 1 m2. The number of grains per spike of individual varieties reached higher values, from 39,6 (Scirocco) to 57,8 (Corso). The average HTZ for the individual varieties was between 34,9 and 43,5 g. At finding of the real yield there were observed values from 3,4 t.ha-1 (Septima) to 4,5 t.ha-1 (Scirocco). The difference between the yield elements of were statistically significant all varieties.

Le féminin et le maternel dans l'imaginaire occidental : le mythe de Shéhérazade en analyse / The feminine and the maternal in the occidental imagination : The myth of Scheherazade in analysis

Rifai, Nabila 14 November 2012 (has links)
This thesis analyzes the founding myth of the Arabian Nights, or « myth of Scheherazade », with a psychoanalytical and comparative approach. This research points that the frame story of the Nights is a mythical story that constitutes the mirror of the collective imagination, which reveals the place of the woman, the feminine and the maternal in the process of civilization. The Nights open on a double adultery and a double murder scene: two sultanas commit adultery with a black slave. This transgressive feminine desire is the trigger of the Arabian Nights' collection. It constitutes the original sin that leads to the forfeiture and the chaos. Shahrayar, such as the patriarch of the Freudian primal horde, decides to take revenge on them and institutes as a law the murder of women. The infinite word of Scheherazade, who is at the same time lover and mother, creates a transitional fertile space and leads the sultan to give up the temporally enjoyment to enter the field of the sublimation and symbolism. With the symbolic function of the language, the storyteller leads the tyrant to become parlêtre, subject to the fundamental laws of civilization. We examine the rewritings, imitations, pastiches, perversions, parodies, tragedies, continuations and musical adaptations of the myth of Scheherazade from eighteenth to the twenty-first century, to analyze the dialectic’s evolution of the feminine, the maternal and the symbolic laws.

Dimitri Masson, Gabrielle 04 1900 (has links)
Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in North America; the risk caused by the disease is partly due to its tick vector’s tenacity and limited number of approaches to reduce its abundance in the environment. Few existing methods efficiently and safely target the principal host for the bacteria, white-footed mice Peromyscus leucopus. The objective of this thesis was to evaluate the efficacy of a new family of antiparasitic drug, isoxazolines, when passively administered as an oral bait to micromammals in endemic site for Lyme disease. Oral baits were distributed during the summer of 2018 and 2019 on five selected sites in the Thousand Islands National Park. Density of ticks in the environment was estimated using drag sampling while small mammal trapping allowed biodiversity and infestation (number of ticks per mouse) to be assess. Impact of isoxazoline used (sarolaner or fluralaner), biodiversity and characteristics of environment (type of forests, temperature, humidity) were also evaluated. Linear mixed models were fitted to determine the impact of measured variables and treatment on infestation level and density of questing nymphs. Results show a significant reduction in tick load for mice captured on treatment plots compared to control plots for 3 out of 5 sites. However, we did not observe a significant reduction in the density of questing nymphs, probably due to the limited duration of the study. Density of nymphs followed interannual variation and was best explained by humidity levels at the time of sampling and plot-level host biodiversity. Peromyscus spp. infestation was linked to the sex (male being more infested) and body length of the mice, high density of questing larvae, year and month of capture and treatment applied to the microsite. Fluralaner showed to be more efficient at reducing mice average tick load. This study was the first to use oral sarolaner to treat the most important reservoir for the Lyme disease agent in the environment. Our protocol did not significantly reduce questing nymphs in the environment for the duration of this study but could potentially diminish Lyme disease human risk with long term use through reduced Peromyscus infestation.

The Allocative Efficiency of Thousand Talents Program

Chiu, Shih Hsien Unknown Date (has links)
This research measures the resource misallocation of human capital development in China. We create a dataset composed of Chinese repatriate researchers of the first to fifth groups of Thousand Talent program scientists during 2009 - 2014. The result shows that National Research Institutions have long outperformed university in productivity and research output efficiency. This research; thus, contribute to evaluate the impact brought about by China's overseas high-level talents’ introduction policy via quantitative analyses and propose a variety of data collection techniques to create a reliable dataset for future research.

A Sea narrative of becoming: A Deleuzian reading of Moby-Dick

Huang, Chung Fu Unknown Date (has links)
Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick (1851) captivates readers with its exuberance and renders the experiences of shipboard life into a source of philosophy. Moby-Dick bears manifold characteristics worthy of exploration. Among the multiple entries into the literary research, Moby-Dick’s achievement becomes evident when being analyzed from the perspective of sea journey. Moby-Dick manifests how a traveler’s mind-set influences her/his perception along the way on the sea journey. In light of encounters with the other, Ishmael’s recounted narrative assists in the understanding of the distinction between him and Captain Ahab as different travelers. The contrast between Ishmael and Ahab concerns whether they really encounter the other and undergo transformation. This thesis considers Ishmael as a traveler who really encounters the other while Ahab keeps his one-track mind-set on his revenge, which halts the chance for his encounter with the other. Following the examination of different travelers, Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari’s nomadology would be applied to further the reading of travelers. The triangular dimension among Ishmael, Ahab and Moby Dick is interpreted with the concepts derived from nomadology such as a war-machine and the State apparatus. Mainly focused on the power of resistance highlighted from nomadology, Ahab’s whale hunt deserves more attention to mobility rather than to the passiveness channeled by his revenge upon Moby Dick. More than what the monomaniac can show, the theory of nomadology would potentially enrich the analysis of Ahab’s pursuit of Moby Dick. Ahab plays both a role of the controlling force like the State apparatus and a role of the resisting power like the war-machine. Besides nomadology, Deleuze and Guattari also employ becoming-animal to suggest the possible inspirational resonance between Ahab and Moby Dick. Instead of an emphasis on the physical resemblance, “becoming” sheds light on the incorporeal transformation which Ahab undergoes within the in-between relationship with Moby Dick. Through his “lines of flight,” Ahab has been involved in becoming-Moby Dick to assert his energy flow out of the intense desire. Overall, this thesis aims at generating more dialogue by bringing nomadology and becoming in the context of Moby-Dick. This incorporation would allow readers to consider Moby-Dick as the manifestation of Deleuze and Guattari’s “nomad thought” rather than as a mere whale-hunting story of adventure.

hmad al-Rabbât al-Halabî : his library and his role in the reception, diffusion, and enrichment of the Thousand and One Nights

Akel, Ibrahim 02 December 2016 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to bring to light the unknown figure of Ahmad al-Rabbât al-Halabî, a Syrian bookseller, who lived between the second half of the eighteenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century, to catalog and present his manuscripts and to investigate the users « readers » of this cultural archive: it can provide concrete answers to questions raised in the Arabic literature, the creation and circulation of texts. The research led to identify about 240 volumes, scattered around the world, from the initial library of al-Rabbât. The margins of these manuscripts contain a large number of reading certificates written by many generations of readers. The work on the manuscript sources also presented an opportunity to create a database of the copyists, the owners and the readers of manuscripts, and to determine the role played by Western travelers and consular agents in the production and the history of the manuscripts.

In search of the comprador: self-exoticisation in selected texts from the South Asian and Middle Eastern diasporas

Shabangu, Mohammad January 2015 (has links)
This thesis is concerned with transnational literature and writers of the Middle Eastern and South Asian diasporas. It argues that the diasporic position of the authors enables their roles as comprador subjects. The thesis maintains that the figure of the comprador is always acted upon by its ontological predisposition, so that diasporic positionality often involves a single subject which straddles and speaks from two or more different subject positions. Comprador authors can be said to be co-opted by Western metropolitan publishing companies who stand to benefit by marketing the apparent marginality of the homelands about which these authors write. The thesis therefore proceeds from the notion that such a diasporic position is the paradoxical condition of the transnational subject or writer. I submit that there is, to some degree, a questionable element in the common political and cultural suggestions that emerge upon closer evaluation of diasporic literature. Indeed, a charge of complicity has been levelled against authors who write, apparently, to service two distinct entities – the wish to speak on behalf of a minority collective, as well as the imperial ‘centre’ which is the intended interlocutor of the comprador author. However, it is this difference, the implied otherness or marginality of the outsider within, which I argue is sometimes used by diasporic writers as a way of articulating with ‘authenticity’ the cultures and politics of their erstwhile localities. This thesis is concerned, therefore, with the representation of ‘the East’ in four novels by diasporic, specifically comprador writers, namely Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children, Hanif Kureishi’s The Buddha of Suburbia, and Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. I suggest that the ‘third-world’ and transnational literature can also be a selling point for the transnational subject, whose representations may at times pander to preconceived ideas about ‘the Orient’ and its people. As an illustration of this double-bind, I offer a close reading of all the novels to suggest that on the one hand, the comprador author writes within the paradigm of the ‘writing back’ movement, as a counter-discourse to the Orientalist representations of the homeland. However, the corollary is that such an attempt to ‘write back’, in a sense, re-inscribes the very discourse it wishes to subvert, especially because the literature is aimed at a ‘Western’ audience. Moreover, the template of the comprador could be used to explain how a transnational post-9/11 text from an Afghan-American, for instance, may be put to the service of the imperial machine, and read, therefore, as a supporting document to the U.S. policy on Afghanistan.

Svět románů Davida Mitchella / David Mitchell's World of Novels

Šplíchal, Martin January 2020 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with seven novels by the contemporary British novelist David Mitchell. Using textual analysis, it traces the ways in which the novels are connected, most visibly expressed through reappering characters and realities, and provides an overview of Mitchell's biblioverse. The work also notes the differences between the fictional and the real, which Mitchell's novels examine, and leads to a broader reflection on the meaning of storytelling or the meaning of a cultural encyclopedia.
