From Art to Comic - Visa hur en Comic Book som använder konsten för att få fram sin värld

Östergren, Herman January 2019 (has links)
I have study transmedia and see what transmedia does. I have focus on element in transmedia call World Building story. What is warbling story is something I have studied and watch some World Building franchise say how they are different from each other. Three different World Building a franchise to see  how to build our world. With it knowledge I will create my Own World Building Story. The world the i certion  is inspired by Simon Stålhagen Retrofuturistisk art. The way I show this world with Comic Book. My Comic Book is design from Critical Design that are a small police messages. Me study is to show that transmedia be found over the world and get young people to be in the same be interested in Retrofuturistiskt art. Also is a good way to me to learn how to tell a story and create a world with this studying.

For Future : A case study of a social movement's use of digital media for climate communication and transmedia storytelling

Johansson, Nellie January 2021 (has links)
How does the social movement Fridays For Future use digital media when communicating their stance on climate change? The study at hand employs qualitative interviews in order to discern how the organisation use digital media and external transmedia storytelling in their fight for climate preservation. Here, representatives of the organisation are interviewed about strategic decisions taken in regards to organisational digital media use. The collected data was categorized using qualitive content analysis. Additionally, a supplementary netnographic study is featured in which the campaign #Withdrawthecap is examined. The netnographic study resulted in a large amount of data, which was processed through a qualitive data analysis with the support of Gambarato's (2013) analytic considerations. This study unveils the prominence of transmedia mobilization. Furthermore, digital media are used to organize strikes and quickly respond to politicians' decisions regarding the climate issue. The #Withdrawthecap campaign uses most of the elements that defines transmedia storytelling which indicate that the narrative form is used to some extent to communicate climate change.

Karlsson, Amanda, Tällö, Victor January 2017 (has links)
A transmedial narrative is to tell a story over different mediums. It's a fairly new area that took its start in 2003 by Henry Jenkins. Since then has the interest of this new way to tell a story become more and more popular. But since the access to internet and media makes it possible to reach out to a much younger audience. The research needs to do that aswell. This is a case study that is aiming to find out how a transmedial narrative could be successfully designed for children. Through analysing and comparing two giants of transmedial storytelling who has their main target audience as children. Disney's Frozen and Cars. Through mapping of boths brand’s transmedial ecosystems, then analyse them with transmedial theories, and theories about narratives for children. This paper will in the end come up with four components that all needs to take into consideration when designing successfully a transmedial narrative for children. The four components are the following: World, Content, Characters and Accessibility.

Tedebring, Edvin January 2017 (has links)
Young audiences of today live in a society of constant converging of digital artefacts and media production principles. No longer is it enough to sit back and watch a TV-show. These audiences expect to activate themselves within multiple platforms, to become active participants instead of passive spectators. For production companies to face these demands, designing transmedia storytelling is becoming essential. To create transmedia storytelling is to create a story spreading over several media channels, where every channel contributes to the storyline in its’ own manner, in order to enable a broad narrative experience. Throughout its’ combining of a series, and establishing of characters’ social media profiles, NRKs’ production SKAM has become somewhat of a success story within the transmedia field. Through qualitative analysis based on models of grounded theory, theories on convergence and participatory culture, as well as on crossmedia and transmedia storytelling, it has been stated that NRK appears to have considered every important aspect in order to develop a phenomenon well suited for audiences of todays’ expectations. By that, SKAM is well to be considered a grand example of how to shape a functioning, reputable and strikingly successful transmedia story.

Lefebvre, Isabelle 06 1900 (has links)
When we seek for works that focus on disgust as a form of affect, we note that its application abounds in film and visual art studies. However, few researchers dedicated its analysis through media whose academic institutionalization is newer, such as comics, TV series, and video games. This thesis aims to extend the studies of disgust as an affect’s practice on these media, focusing on the analysis of certain components from the transmedia franchise The Walking Dead. Moreover, because this body of media is marked by a transmediality that exceeds simple narrative recurrences, this thesis also wants to produce an analytical model capable of detecting disgust’s generative structures that tend to migrate or be shared between the media of the franchise. This model will be developed initially by the establishment of a dialogue between affect studies applied to cinema and visual arts, and intermedial studies. Then, this model’s functionality will be tested through its application within the comics, the television series and one of the video games of The Walking Dead franchise.

The narrative universe of Latitudes: a case study of transmediation strategies in one Brazilian fictional production

Penner, Tomaz Affonso 27 October 2016 (has links)
The present study aims to identify and systematize transmediation strategies developed by the producers of the series Latitudes (2013, 2014), a project distributed in three different platforms: internet (YouTube), television and cinema (so, in three formats: webseries, TV series and film). The work discusses the emergence of new genres and formats relating them to the context of hipertelevision (Scolari, 2014) and the multi-platform content distribution, which marks the audiovisual experience in contemporary culture and ensures more autonomy and agency to the audiences (Castells, 2009). We also discuss the new business opportunities in the convergence culture (Jenkins, 2008), particularly on YouTube, which works as a repository for the webseries Latitudes, with the distribution and consumption increasingly guided by streaming platforms, that are gaining ground against the traditional television broadcast model. It was also possible to see that these new dynamics, supported by the Internet, create new production processes. Based on the Language theory of Bakhtin (2003) and reflections on genres using Barthes (2009), Eco (1994) and Mungioli (2012). Through these analyzes, we see a connection between the fictional and documentary genres in the television version of our empirical object. After these advances, we reach the stage of systematization of transmediation strategies developed in Latitudes, realizing that it incorporates different kinds of distribution and consumption that are presented as trends in the Brazilian audiovisual production. As main results, we identified propagation strategies (Fechine, 2013), and the use of rewatchability (Mittel, 2011) for the establishment of transmidiation in Latitudes. We also add to the discussion the strategy of product placement (Miller, 2014), through scripted insertions, as an effectively capitalization model for audiovisual products that rely on the internet as a primary vehicle of distribution.

Geometrias da Experiência: das tessituras do conceito de Experiência e do conceito de Vivência em Walter Benjamin às investigações sobre o devir de uma nova categoria de experiência reticular possível em Narrativas Transmídia / Geometries of Experience: from the textures of \"Experience\" and \"lived experience\" concepts in Walter Benjamin to the investigations into the becoming of a new category of possible reticular experience in Transmedia Storytelling

Mota, João Pedro de Azevedo Machado 10 October 2017 (has links)
This dissertation is a comparative theoretical-practical study that launches the hypothesis of another category of possible reticular experience in the contemporary field of transmedia storytelling, based on the theoretical axis of the concepts of \"Experience\" (Erfahrung) and \"lived experience\" (Erlebnis), initially formulated by the philosopher Walter Benjamin in a context marked by characteristic socioeconomic and political convulsions and transformations of the interwar period in the 20th century. In search of a methodological rigor that reflects an attempt to overcome a bias that is only reifying the transmedia storytelling, consciously understood as a cultural merchandise of neoliberal capitalism reproduced technically, in favor of a philosophical approach on the demand for its potentially collaborative character that would produce a type of experience-in-network, taken by us as a hypothesis, whose subtleties we propose to investigate, we try to situate the context in which the Benjaminian concepts were formulated, to justify its displacement to the analysis of the new context in which transmedia storytelling arises. With this framework we hope to understand how the transmedia storytelling would open a way to the understanding of a new experience hypothetically permeated by cyberspace, simultaneously related to the fragmented and individual aspect of Erlebnis, on the one hand, and relatively compatible to the character of a knowledge shared by the inherent collectivity of Erfahrung, on the other: not exclusively defined by those concepts, but understood dialectically as a third category of experience mediated by a collective intelligence that starts from the synthesis of both. We investigate the possibilities of understanding this experience as a result of dialogical transversalities between different niche audiences related to the different narrative fragments that, aesthetically singular, autonomous of sense and diegetically complementary to each other, being dispersed in multiple media in the form of different languages, taking into account the potentially collaborative character offered by contemporary digital networks to interaction, participation and symbolic exchanges: the virtual medium would therefore be fundamental to the formulation of the geometries of a shared reticular experience. Finally, by the procedure of qualitative-quantitative textual analysis on a corpus, with a dialogical potential between samples of 46 units of narrative fragments of the Matrix universe (of the Wachowski sisters), under the themes: a) Potential of diegetically transmedia relations between fragments; and b) Invitation for collaborative participation between niches; in the case study of this canon that emerged at the transition from 20th to the 21th century, we looked for clues to the confrontation of the new propositional category of hypothetical experience-in-network, overflowing in the practical development of a video as an inspiring tool for the analysis of other universes in transmedia storytelling already existing or yet to come. In order to broaden the understanding horizons of this media narrative phenomenon, the analysis of the research does not close on its own results, but opens up for new problematizations to the related fields.

Murakami, Mariane Harumi 10 April 2015 (has links)
Brazilian television telenovela, since its origin in the 50\'s, has undergone countless changes, which not only have changed the form of fiction production, but mainly the experience of the viewer with the fictional product. This work proposes an investigation of these changes, rather a discourse analysis of the Brazilian serial fiction and the mechanisms that establish the discursive instances of the viewer and the author. Thus, this research has as objective to elaborate an investigation of the Brazilian television telenovelas, analyzing the changes occurring in the genre over the years, especially in moments of rupture - the era Gloria Madagan (50s), the realistic era (decade 60) and transmedia era (2000s). Some more specific objectives will guide the research: - to investigate the transformation of telenovela genre in Brazil, considering genre as a discourse articulated around the intercultural dimension involving texts and different contexts; - To investigate how the narrative agency the spectators; - To investigate the discursive mechanisms that relate the telenovela with the extra-diegetic reality; - To investigate the discursive construction of the viewer\'s identification mechanisms with the plot; - To investigate the construction of discursive mechanisms that relate the narratives in different medium; - To investigate the changes in the relations of media consumption over the years; - To investigate how the media convergence phenomenon affected the Brazilian telenovela as a genre. In this work, we postulate that the \"modernization\" of Brazilian telenovela not only transforms how to produce telenovelas, but mostly transforms the experience of the viewer with the fictional product. It goes initially from a fictional experience far from their daily reality, based on a fantasy world, to a fictional experience that seems more and more \"realistic\", in which the various elements of the plot point to everyday life. Today, in the era of onvergence era, the viewer does not leave the television narrative, but has the opportunity to pursue (or not) in other media content to enrich their fictional experience. And it establishes new actors in Brazilian television fictional discourse.

Character weblog: discourse and dialogism in the meaning production between viewers and character of the miniseries Afinal, o que querem as mulheres?

Karhawi, Issaaf Santos 03 October 2013 (has links)
The present study aimed to understand how is the process of meaning construction between production and reception of the miniseries Afinal, o que querem as mulheres? (Globo, 2010). With this purpose, it analyzes the discourses from André Newmann weblog who was the protagonist of the plot. The weblog as a genre is part of experiments undertaken by Globo since 2006 with fictional products in order to insert them into a universe marked by transmedia. The introduction of new platforms within people daily life has led television broadcasters to seek different possibilities of interaction with their audience, their viewers. Now a product which used to be created \"just for TV\" travels through multiple platforms defining a moment of transmedia storytelling (Jenkins, 2009). Thus, the weblog of the character André Newmann is considered a transmedia product and it has been investigated to understand how it is constructed as a locus of discursive interaction and meaning construction between the instances of production and reception. This analysis is particularly interesting since Andre Newmann\'s weblog had space for comments rarely present in other characters weblogs and in addition it has been maintained by Michel Melamed -protagonist of the miniseries, and author of all posts. Therefore, another objective of this research is to comprehend the dialogical relation between the actor-character and these viewers who are now reading his weblog. Furthermore, it aims to unveil the discursive ethos of these interlocutors with the intention of observing how character and viewers are constituted and constitute each other in the dialogical process. It was chosen to form a paradigmatic axis of the work Bakhtin theory Language (2010a, 2010b), along with theoretical and methodological French Discourse Analysis. The corpus of the research consists of André Newmann\'s texts (51) and viewer\'s comments (1236) all intentionally selected to incorporate thefinal work. Some of the main considerations at the end of the study show that the production instance (represented by the character) is constantly looking for an active responsive position from the viewers. This fact leads to the conclusion that the weblog was an active and important element on the process of creating a transmedia storytelling. In the reception instance, it was observed that viewers once they are on a dialogical environment they begin to participate and build mutually a live speech. In consequence, it is evident that one of the most important aspects of this character weblog is not only take a television character to the Internet but mainly gives to its viewers a voice.
